- Kerry Ann (5/5): - The staff were kind and helpful. They had no local dish to eat. Their food was not enjoyable and they should make their drinks with bottled water.
- Catherine (8/5): -

- Julien (10/5): Great place, great staff, great room, great breakfast. - Great place. great staff. Windows opening to the outside. Mosquito net around the bed. Easy to reach from the airport by taxi. They organised airport transport with a good driver.
- Hafsa (10/5): - The staff are very decent especially khadeja Nothing
- Dorica (7/5): - The location of the hotel and the staff.. loved the pool area as well which is outside the hotel.. There's need for thorough cleaning especially of bathrooms with disinfectants on the drainage areas. Additionally they could be more variety foe breakfast and it'd be better if it's buffet. TV was not working in all our rooms 1st stay and 2nd stay some aircons were not functioning as well.
- DAVID (8/5): Nice Hotel with historic boutique design features and good furniture but the tech, is bad. - Beyt Al Salaam is part of the Spice Tree Group so the service is professional. The Rooms are clean and the beds soft 4 post design. The Arab decor throughout. The Tv didn't work despite being set up by the helpful room attendants, the sound then picture failed. There is irregular discord between the stream box and Tv and aerial connection. It needs a total upgrade? The Wifi internet signal is also irregular.
- Simon (8/5): - Great location. Lively period interior A little frayed around the edges, but it doesn’t matter
- Eija-Riitta (7/5): -
- Tove (9/5): -
- Sarah (3/5): Wonderful location but otherwise disappointing and not worth the price. - A couple of the staff were nice, friendly and helpful, but others poorly trained and not up to the job. Stayed for 10 nights in superior room. Breakfast is really poor, extremely slow service and terrble coffee. Took 24 hours to get a bath mat and 48hrs to get a hand towel. Bath towels threadbare. Privacy curtain missing in one window. Room key card continually needs to be changes (annoying when you’ve walked up 2 floors and have to go back to rection). The place is in dire need of love and money.
- Vaughan (6/5): A well priced and maintained hotel in the centre of Stone Town. - The location, right in the centre of Stone Town. Breakfast was well prepared and speedy. There was good security at the hotel 24 hours who were very helpful. The decor and rooms were well maintained. There was a problem with the Wifi during the day, I was told it was a service problem in the area. The final bill was poorly managed as I was overcharged, better training is required for the younger guy working at the reception.
- RADO (10/5): - Good Breakfast
- Salim (7/5): -
- Yvonne Kane (8/5): - Overall, my experience was great. The hotel is within walking distance of the Forodhani Market, several lounges, plenty of restaurants, and even the port for Prison Island—very convenient! It’s a cozy and charming place to stay.
However, on my last day, there were issues with their payment system. The card machine kept saying "Offline," but management made it seem like I didn’t have the money to pay 🙃. This was frustrating, especially since the machine hadn’t worked a few nights earlier either. I was forced to go to an ATM, pay a withdrawal fee, and return to settle my balance—even though it was clearly a technical issue on their end.
When I asked for a receipt, their printer wasn’t working either, and there was no apology for the inconvenience or the way the situation was handled. I really think management should train staff on how to deal with these situations better, as it did leave a sour note at the end of an otherwise lovely stay.

- Farouk (4/5): - La secirite L'acceuille
- Anu (7/5): - It as a pleasure to stay at ‘Beyt Al Salaam’ Hotel, the location was perfect for exploring the city center, and the room was spacious and well-equipped. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location.
- Mantas (8/5): -
- Abdulghani (8/5): Good central stay - Very nice stay. The hotel is central and very near to main point and 4 min walk from the harbor where exceusions are. The staff were very nice. They upgraded our room for the first night.
Cons: it is written free parking however the parking is not free and despite discussing the issue, we understood that it is not their problem if it was written free in the booking site! So we had to pay 1000 tzs per hour.
In the common parts there is lots of mosquitos.
- fabrice (5/5): - L emplacement central Chambre pas prête a 14h30
Petit déjeuner médiocre
Aceuil.approximatif
- Alexander (8/5): - Location No AC no Internet on the 3rd floor
- Gokhan (1/5): My worst hotel experience - Unfortunately, I don’t like anymore Uncapable team, very dirty room, rooms are very old and needs maintenance, dont go to that hotel
- Oguz Kaan (9/5): -
- Hameed (8/5): Good location with a very friendly staff - The break fast was too simple Breakfast
- Ola (10/5): Nydelig - Ligger perfekt til, relativt stille område men i Stone Town. Gangavstand til ferga. Nydelig innredet. Kunne hatt større utvalg til frokost.
- Carlos (10/5): - One of the best hotels EVER!!!!
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Elina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kjell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shabbir (7/5): Good -
- Philip (10/5): Excellent hotel - This was our second time staying at Beyt al Salaam. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From start to finish, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. People went out of their way to help us. The room was kept clean and serviced. There is a restaurant that serves delicious food. The hotel is conveniently located in a lovely part of Stonetown and near to the beach. What made this stay so wonderful was the staff at the hotel who are simply brilliant. Thank you!
- Asantalo1 (7/5): A good place in Zanzibar - I like the hotel, it is a typical Zanzibari hotel style. Very authentic. I did not like the way I was welcomed at 8 pm by someone who told me that my room was not ready. He checked and gave ma a room that was not well prepared. I asked for a room that I knew, he said that the room is busy, after a while I got it, it was not busy. Why do these headaches when you check in in the evening, you are tired and want to relax.
I know this hotel, unfortunately that time was not really good.
- Titus (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jason (6/5): Clean, decent & friendly but basic for the price. Mainly paying for location - Good location, friendly staff. Pretty basic level of comfort and facilities for the price. Quite small rooms.
- Basma (8/5): It is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and centrally located ! Slightly pricey for the facilities provided but still w - Location and cleanliness Issue with the entry cards daily
- Irma (9/5): Great - Very friendly and caring staff members, they made me feel like at home. The location is the best in Stone Town, right next to the beach and city centre, perfect for exploring Stone Town for a couple days. Further, they have a great restaurant downstairs and I enjoyed a pool which is a few minutes walk by foot. Overall, a very convenient and nice stay. Slightly run down facilities but it still has charm
- Tibayungwa (7/5): Had a good stay. 👍 - Breakfast should be buffet to shorten the time of making orders Nothing
- Ab (1/5): Overpriced cheaters who have bought all reviews online including their four star rating!! - Besides the location nothing to like about it honestly….besides the fact that they have done a great job at buying all the reviews on the websites!! Hi So we wish to put a number of complaints against the property. A lot of the ratings look fake and this property is definitely not a four star and extremely overpriced for what it has to offer and it is spoiling our holiday. When we booked the hotel free airport transfer/shuttle was mentioned but later denied and we were made to pay the taxi driver, despite getting a confirmation on email. The basic amenities like dryer, working safe, extra toiletries, and iron are missing from the room. When we checked in towels were missing in the room and despite the fact that we checked in after our slated booking time. When asked for it they said laundry is not prepared so will have to wait for 6 hours after the check in time for towels. For breakfast, they have just 2 set menu options and not a buffet. Which four star has that? Hardly any options for vegetarians. Never experienced this in any basic 2 star hotel as well. The pool is not available in the same property, but in another hotel besides this hotel. The staff has communication issues and unwelcoming. Cleanliness of the room not upto the mark before you check in. It is unprepared. Furniture like desk in the room is wobbly and can collapse any time.
- Khadijah (6/5): Pleasant - Lots of mosquitoes
- Abdalla (8/5): Very good -
- Nushafreen (8/5): Good comfortable place. - Good convenient location. Clean. Friendly staff. Amazing restaurant. We needed an extra bed as booked for family which was not available. But we managed as the beds were big enough.
- Neslihan (9/5): Superb - Big room, location of the hotel, clean, swimming pool housekeeper come through the room without knocking the door
- Lily (10/5): Amazing Boutique Hotel - Beautiful tree outside my window. Amazing view.
- Gokhan (7/5): Good -
- Elly (9/5): Very nice hotel -
- Daniele (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy place in the heart of Stone Town
- Jeffery (10/5): Exceptional -
- nadine N (2/5): - Horrible experience with manager at check in, might be trying to SCAM foreigners, be cautious. Hotel restaurant food had me sick for a day and a half of my 4 day trip, AC leaking all over the floor, shower wouldnt drain properly, constant noise outside room window from 2 am til 4 am, none of the remotes worked for the TV that would just get louder and louder on its own. She said she upgraded my accommodations for no charge and allowed me to check in early where early check in is an option listed for property and the room was the exact one i booked and paid for after arguing with me in front of other guests for 2 hours saying that my booking was never confirmed because i didn't pay enough according to her. Lied about emailing me regarding airport transfer that took 3 days for a response in the first place and no response through expedia messaging either. For a slightly more expensive establishment, treatment and property not worth it. Was a last minute choice that I would never make again nor would i recommend. Third time in Zanzibar and this hotel definitely soured what should have been a relaxing getaway as it usually is.
- Kristen (9/5): Comfortable hotel with good restaurant in a great location! - For the two nights we stayed at Beyt Al Salaam we were very comfortable. We had been given a large room on the top floor which had a view of the street with lots of space. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom very clean and large. The staff were very attentive - especially in the restaurant where we had some excellent meals. This hotel is well situated to everything and it was easy to find our way around the town. Would definitely come back.
- Kristen (9/5): Lovely comfortable hotel in a great location. Would stay again. - We actually stayed at the Beyt Al Salaam twice. The first time for one night and then two days later for two days. In between these stays they kept luggage for us which helped out a lot! The hotel was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The restaurant staff were especially nice and made us some really delicious breakfasts. There was a bit of confusion over some charges and drivers but these were solved without a problem. This hotel is in a great location and we loved staying there - would definitely go back.
- Zaheer Abbas (4/5): - Was advised by the front desk that the room on the ground floor was bigger, and it wouldnt be noisy, however the staff themselves were the noisiest.
- Dr (5/5): Good location , affordable ... but thats all ! - Location Stairs
- Ioan (7/5): Good - Excellent location, friendly staff, comfy beds Too expensive for what it offers
- Parth (2/5): Waiting for refund - Hotels.com never informed this hotel of pur stay. Hence hotel was overbooked and we could not check in. I am still waiting for my refund from hotel.com
- Amy (4/5): The location was great but I would not stay there again. - The location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. My standard queen was old and shabby. It was at the top of two enormous flights of stairs, which could be a problem for some people. There were no bedside lanterns, so it was very difficult to get from the main light switch across the room and into bed in the dark. The breakfast was really cheap, and not good.
- Natalia (9/5): Great - There was a little problem with my room when I arrived, but it was sorted out very quickly and I even got an upgrade (big thank you to Rashid who was at the reception that night). The location is amazing, close to everything in Stone Town. It’s an old building so if you’re looking for this kind of vibe that’s the place for you. The restaurant where they serve breakfast is very cute.
- Flora (8/5): I liked the hotel and would stay there again. - The staff are extremely helpful and cheerful. The rooms are spacious and clean The WiFi was erratic at certain times of the day. It would be nice to have Zanzibar options for breakfast. It would be good to inform guests of the access and directions to the Spice tree sister hotel on arrival.
- Latoya (9/5): Cute boutique hotel with tasty breakfast! - Cute boutique hotel in the heart of Stone town with mix of East African and Islamic aesthetic. Lovely staff. Reasonably priced. Tasty and healthy breakfast. The facilities may appear older but that’s because it is a historic boutique hotel. I was showed different rooms upon my arrival and opted for the upgrade from deluxe to premium room since it was more spacious.
- Elke (6/5): Pleasant -
- Moez_alibhai (8/5): Great Location, Can do Better - Location.
Khadija at the Reception was superb. Cleanliness is an issue
Full of Mosquito's.
Cleaning Lady, has a serious attitude, we asked for extra towels, her response was I will bring it when I'm free.
- Huseyin (6/5): Pleasant - Location, staff Comfort, facilities such as restaurants, tv
- Jona (6/5): Pleasant - The hotel is closer to restaurants, Old Fort, and other funny things to do in Stone town. The staff was very nice. Chirwa was really good. The hotel room, the bathroom, needs some upgrade
- Adjoa (5/5): Passable -
- Zain (9/5): Superb -
- Yisroel (7/5): Good -
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Radi (9/5): All staff from Manager Khadija to Rashid, Hamim, Chinua, Clara & everyone: fantastic, super helpful! - The room was lovely and big and I had everything I needed. The two chefs are wonderful and also catered well for a gluten free diet. All in all a wonderful stay!
- Ilana (1/5): Go somewhere else - The hotel is well located. Room is FAR from 4 star. The staff kept trying to charge me double, as they were having some issue with booking.com, even expecting me to contact customer service, to clear up payment frozen on their end, which I did. The next morning, again I was expected to pay in full, when full payment was done on booking.com. The room was in derelict state. The mosquito net did not fit, also full of holes. Shower shelf falling down, the towels downright stink. Curtains falling down, and dusty. Breakfast included, but my breakfast never came, only my daugter received her food. The internet signal in the rooms are non existant. The T.V goes on, but the T.V channels say no package registered. Rather spend the extra $10, and go to someplace where the review score matches the rating.
- Erik (7/5): Good -
- Mariya (8/5): Very good -
- Vaughan (8/5): This is a great hotel to stay in while visiting Stone Town, it's close to all amenities. - The hotel is well located in Stone Town, staff are friendly and helpful. The are huge and the Airconditioning works well. There was little choice for breakfast, however the hot food was well cooked and presentation was good.
- Rahim (8/5): Quiet, secluded and historical - Close to a lot of restaurants and historical buildings The Internet was not the greatest in my room
- Binu (3/5): Poor - Location Food
- Lily (10/5): Charming Boutique Hotel In The Heart of Stonetown - Lovely restaurant, ambience, reception and location, location, location! Wish the pool was closer.
- Dinis (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast could be much better considering the category and advertising. Even though we paid for a superior room, this was in no way "superior". The bed was quite noisy when you moved in your sleep, the air conditioning was broken and leaking water. After much insistence, it was repaired, but it did not work properly. As the room was on the top floor, at night, you could hear the noise of rats walking on the ceiling. Taking into account the price paid and reference to other hotels in the same category, the price-quality ratio is a little high. Without a doubt, after experience, I would not recommend it as an option, as there are others with better quality and price.
- Larissa (9/5): Superb -
- Larissa (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alok (9/5): Very good experience! Wish, I stayed longer. - Staff are very cordial and proactive in helping. The hotel is located in a quieter area unlike the busy streets around and it opens to a green, open garden area. It is also close to the beach with a stunning sunset to enjoy. The Room is beautiful with a classis, ethnic look. Breakfast was a simple menu yet adequate.
- Lily (10/5): Always a pleasant stay in a wonderful location! - Great location, leafy and green part of Zanzibar and near all the central shops and restaurants of Stonetown
It's a unique boutique hotel!
