Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): Superb food and staff - Everything Nothing
- Margaret (7/5): Good place, nice staff, good rooms and great breakfast. - Location was very good, nice rooms. Only issue was the safe did not work and although I mentioned this it was not fixed. Minor issue.
- Luc (9/5): Merveilleux ! - Chambre très confortable tout était parfait Fenêtres un peu difficile à ouvrir
- Anderson (9/5): - They offered us an upgrade. The rooms were stunning. The bar was divine. The location is perfect
- Jeannette (10/5): -
- Simon Thorn (3/5): Overpriced & underwhelming! - The location of the property on the Scores is great, despite parking being limited. Staff were friendly & accessing the property was simple. Having stayed at this hotel previously when it was the Golf Hotel, we were looking forward to revisiting past memories. What we found was a complete makeover that removed all history & left the property without charm or soul. For the price of the Hotel & its supposed 5 star, the room we were given was the size of a shoe box & there were no comforts, including the bed which would have suited a Premier Inn or similar.

- Jeremey (7/5): - Great location. Large suites.

- Shirley (5/5): Overpriced and undelivered - Restaurant staff were lovely. The food just tasteless. Gone off milk in room. Asked to replace but wasn't done. Food in bistro was bland . No flavour whatsoever.
- James (10/5): - Super clean, free parking and the location is 10/10
Quick walk into town and a golf balls hit away from the 1st tee of the old course
- gallagher (10/5): great location perfect place to stay while in St Andrew - location was perfect 2 min walk to the 18th hole of the old course 5 min walk t center of town which is filled with pubs and restaurants and st andrew castle and the university. The bistro inside the hotel great food, the breakfast options are great and it was nice to have dinner there twice. the pub was extremley comfortable and inviting and great selection of scotch whisky. the staff at the front desk very friendly and helpful. Everything was great and will stay there when i come back
- Linn (10/5): -
- Altana (8/5): - The room we had at the back of the property was quite noisy with the window open
- annette (7/5): Room and reception staff disappointing. Good breakfast especially the kippers. - Location by sea Dark room basement room and window was fire exit this wasn't clear in booking.
- Meri (10/5): We hope to come again and stay with you - Loved the breakfast. One of the best we had in Scotland. The room was small but fine the location was the best. we could get where we needed to be by walking. We would stay again and again. no stairs. Next time I will ask for a room on a different level
- LISA (7/5): Pleasant but not value for money - Location was excellent and there was free parking right outside the hotel The room was very comfortable however, one of the towels had a couple of holes and was threadworn and although a coffee machine provided, there was no milk (creamer) or sugar. The room was on the second floor with a Velux window and most of the night I was kept awake by squawking seagulls (not much the hotel could do about the seagulls but ask not to be on the top floor). I felt a little understaffed at breakfast.

- Carol (9/5): - They were able to accommodate slightly late check out to make my sauna time so much easier! Declined daily room service but did not know how to get more coffee easily so disappointed. Front desk staff often not around and others would go find for me to get the key so seemed a gaff to go get coffee sachets for the. Ornkng

- Susan (10/5): This is the only hotel I will stay in when visiting St Andrews in future. - The food was sensational and the service was first class. The hotel is a beautiful combination of elegance, comfort, with a very relaxed atmosphere. It truly felt like home away from home. No detail was missed! I was travelling with a broken foot and the staff were very accommodating. Hard to mess with perfection and this hotel was virtually perfect. A lot of doors to manoeuvre through, but something I only noticed given I was on crutches. Can’t really call this a negative, as I wouldn’thave given it a second thought if I’d had two good feet.
- Maryanne (9/5): - every thing
- Melissa (10/5): Great location, well maintained, warm and efficient staff - Ideal location with beautiful views of the golf course and West Sands. Easy access to restaurants, bars and shops N/A
- Agatha (10/5): The perfect home away from home. - Everything from service to location to cleanliness to food to bar to perfection all of it…. There was absolutely nothing that I could have needed than what was offered!!
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful location and luxury accommodation - Loved the location. The room was well appointed and the heated floors were amazing. The whiskey bar and restaurant were top level. The beach and st Andrews right in front was gorgeous. Nothing
- Denise (9/5): - Beautiful hotel. Location brilliant. Staff very friendly. We did only have room only so can't say anything about the food.
It suited us to opt to forego housekeeping as only there 3 nights and the receptionist gave us 2 x £15 vouchers towards drinks at the bar. Excellent idea! Will definitely return! Nothing!
- Sandra (10/5): Staff amazing, professional and friendly, felt relaxed and rested when we left! - Just refurbished, peacefully and tranquility
Easy access beautiful spot in St Andrews! Nothing!
- Hayley (9/5): -
- Korkay81 (10/5): Amazing stay - What can I say… from the incredible staff who go above and beyond to make your stay feel special, to the fantastic food and drink, to the absolutely gorgeous rooms (the ‘Ma Bells’ room is just stunning), I genuinely can’t fault a single thing. I’ve decided that when I win the lottery, I’m moving in permanently. Beth at reception is just the best
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent in all aspects needed for a short break - Very comfortable clean and friendly.
Great location for walks shopping sightseeing Nil
- neill (8/5): Quality hotel with excellent staff in the perfect location for beach, golf course and town. - The staff are some of the most courteous, helpful and simply nice that we've met.
Nice & clean room and bathroom
Our dogs were made extremely welcome.
The hotel is genuinely dog friendly We would have liked to have breakfast at the hotel, but 20 each was too expensive, so had to find somewhere else.
Another guest had charged their 69 pounds worth of drinks to our room. The staff removed this charge without fuss, but we were unhappy that those guests have deliberately got away without paying. Can the hotel use a better way of establishing who the guest is when paying for something so that they aren´t out of pocket either.
- OnAir701690 (10/5): Brilliant - Stayed here 25th March - everyone that worked here was so nice ; dinner and breakfast awesome. I had a young dog and I’m sure she enjoyed the welcome too! Will 100% be back - hospitality to do this well must be quite an effort so thanks to all.
- Craig (10/5): -
- MissMarion67 (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - Stayed here for a couple of nights recently, and enjoyed our stay very much.
Lovely spacious room (not with a sea view!) which was very comfortable. Good shower and large comfy bed!
Breakfast was excellent. Great selection all round. Unfortunately we weren’t particularly keen on their dinner menu. Not a great selection and quite expensive.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. Would certainly return at some point.
- Fraser (6/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): - Fabulous central location. Lovely staff, very nice comfortable room. Good level of darkness for sleeping and nicely quiet. Not many dinner menu choices for vegetarians
Space for breakfast food a little cramped and not a very wide choice of cold items
- Richard (7/5): Fabulous location, and great views from the dining room. - The staff were uniformly helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts were excellent. The hotel could definitely do with some freshening up of some of the public spaces.
- Parker (9/5): -
- sergio (10/5): - Location and service All excellent
- markwarren (10/5): - Great location hotel and staff
- Joanne (5/5): -
- Leslie (8/5): Great location. Beautiful room and facilities. Lovely staff. - Room, views, bar/coffee/breakfast areas. Parking in the neighbourhood was free. Checkout could be faster. There was some mild unpleasant smell in the lobby area.
- Thomas (8/5): Great stay - we’d come back - Our pet was made to feel very welcome and the dog bed and treats were really good.
- Iris5 (10/5): - Herrliche Lage mit Meerblick, sehr freundliches Personal, wunderschöne Zimmer.

- Gordon (8/5): A good place for our short visit to St Andrews. Would recommend Hotel Du Van - Breakfast was excellent, a very good choice and well presented.
- jennie (8/5): Great location. Very handy for exploring St Andrews. - Lovely room in a great location. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok but a bit basic for a hotel of this standard.
- linda (10/5): 2day away - Location ideal Road works limited the parking
- Lynne (8/5): - Lovely bedroom, dinner was excellent.
- carine (10/5): -
- 737sjd (10/5): A truly exceptional stay - we'll be back! - My partner and I had an exceptional two night stay at Hotel du Vin St Andrews. From the moment we arrived, every single member of staff was warm, welcoming and genuinely helpful, which made the whole stay feel really special.
The room was excellent and very comfortable, and the location right by the sea is just stunning. Breakfast was also a real highlight. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had.
A fantastic stay all round and we will definitely be back!
- Susie (9/5): Perfect position in St Andrews - Great location on the coast
- Margaret (8/5): Lovely location with good views from Breakfast room although we had a room to the back of hotel. - We liked the location however I have mobility issues and we were not told we should enter from the back of hotel therefore we had to walk up the side lane and upstairs to get to the rear to check in. We liked the breakfast and the decor of the room. I did feel that nearly £300 was quite expensive for one night B&B.
- Elizabeth (9/5): -
- stephanie (8/5): -
- Elaine (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay would definitely be back - I did feel the breakfast was a little over priced, The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable
- Haydyn (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): - Brilliant dog friendly hotel for a stay over Christmas period. Staff were amazing and could not have been more accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. Location for beach and lovely walks was fantastic and free parking right at front of hotel. Nothing, great stay, will be back

- Curious242724 (10/5): Wonderful Hoel - We stayed at this hotel on 27/02/26 and we loved it. When checking in Beth really looked after us, as did the bar staff Amy and Erin making tasty cocktails. I absolutely oved our room looking out over the sea, I didn't want to leave it, just beautiful. The breakfast was delicious, one of the best 10 out of 10.
- Eleanor (8/5): Overall it was Okay. - Nicely decorated and comfortable Actual room was poky. Building works outside
- bethhD9385ML (10/5): Brilliant stay! - Had a great few nights away in a spacious room with all the amenities. Breakfast was really tasty, I liked how the hot food was all made fresh rather than sitting out for hours in a buffet. Staff were really friendly and had helpful tips for the town which was great because we hadn’t been before. Would 100% stay again!
- Quennie (9/5): If you’re an early riser, its definitely a place for you as you can hear the birds outside and the people around your ro - The area is pretty close to the beach and how its a quirky place. Plus the old golf course is just across the hotel. Its just so hard to go up the stairs with a big luggage plus you can hear the steps of every people outside of the room and even upstairs.
- Keith (10/5): -
- Denise (10/5): -
- Sweeney (10/5): Charming and comfortable hotel in the heart of St. Andrews. - The hotel is a charming property located in an ideal area of St. Andrews and within walking distance to everything - shops, restaurants, the university. The suite we had was enormous and featured a comfortable bed as well as a spacious bathroom. The views of the North Sea were a lovely bonus.
- 218caraj (10/5): Amazing stay - Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Du Vin. Great location to get into town but have the benefit of the beach on the doorstep too. Such a relaxed atmosphere but felt so well looked after.
The bar was perfect to warm up in after a cold day and the food was great in the bistro, especially the duck.
Can’t wait to go back for another visit already
- louiss35 (10/5): Nice spot for lunch and a drink - I stopped in past for some lunch after a walk on the beach. The atmosphere was nice and cosy and staff were very friendly and polite. We got some lunch and had a drink, which were both lovely and good value for money.
- suncream2015 (10/5): Lovely hotel. - Stayed for 2 nights on bed and breakfast basis. Room was to the rear of the hotel and was spacious and spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The spacious dining room had views to the sea and beach .The bar area is to the rear and has access to a patio area with seating and tables and would be nice to sit in during summer months. All staff were friendly and efficient and professional.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Go48568693098 (2/5): Stay away for now. - Terrible. Don’t book as there is major building works going on next door and they are not being transparent about this.Really unfair. Excavators and drilling into ground. Also like a building site front and back.
Shame for the hotel but be honest. Don’t take peoples money and hide this from people.
- H747DYgordonp (10/5): Amazing Experience. Perfect - Fantastic afternoon tea.
Staff very attentive and informative.
Big thanks to Tom & Chris for excellent service.
Food delicious and very fresh.
Calming and relaxing atmosphere, just perfect.
Would certainly recommend.
Well done to all staff and we will certainly return.
- Pioneer57722 (10/5): Great St. Andrews Hotel - First time staying with Hotel du Vin and we were very impressed. Great location in St. Andrews close to the West Sands, the Old Course and the centre of the town.
What really stood out was the staff. All of them were very friendly and very cheery and always went out of their way to help us. Would certainly stay there again.
- AeriellaSkye (10/5): Had a fantastic stay - Loved our stay here, Such a beautiful hotel very warm and welcoming atmosphere, staff are super friendly and helpful 😊 Amazing food and drinks from the bar and restaurant. Such a beautiful location, so close to the beach and to shops in town.
- Alexander (9/5): -
- Yvonne (10/5): St Andrew's retreat - Excellent customer service. Particularly the bar staff. Upgraded room due to issue with the lift which was an unexpected bonus. N/A
- Cornwall (8/5): - The dinner and breakfast was very good We paid for a room upgrade with a sea view , but the window was so filthy we could not focus on the view.
- triciagraham2401 (10/5): Great hotel in central St Andrews - Great staff
Very pleasant It was all good
- Aileen (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Beautiful rooms. Lovely staff. Great breakfast
- John (10/5): - Beautiful room looking out at the wild seas, excellent choice of freshly cooked breakfast items and lovely meal in the bistro. Staff were obviously well trained and very friendly.
- Marion (10/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): A really lovely hotel with a beautiful view. Staff were really welcoming, - Really beautifully decorated room with a stunning view. I think the king bed was made up of 2 singles with a topper. I generally find these a bit uncomfortable as you can feel the gap in the middle.
- RadcliffeT (2/5): Used to love this hotel but… - Left a brand new pair of shoes plus my husband’s boots ( not new) in the drawer in the wardrobe. Called the next day to say I’d left them and exactly where. Told to report via website, which I did. We were then told they weren’t found so I wrote to housekeeping as I knew exactly where they had been placed. No response. I’m not suggesting anyone would want my husband’s boots but my shoes were rather nice although not particularly expensive. Just a bit disappointing and I won’t return as I feel a bit more effort would have made all the difference.
- 134keith (2/5): Disappointment from arrival to Exit - On approach to the hotel I established that the road was closed due to a big crane that was blocking the road . On finding a car park I entered the hotel after walking round to the front door to find electricians tools and equipment sprawled about the entrance. The bar was closed however I was able to sit in the bistro to get a coffee. The room was in the attic (The Tokara). The room was small but nice however it is situated beside the lift which is in constant use and makes a reoccurring noise (Thud type noise) resulting in a sleepless night. On sharing the concerns regarding the lift the lady on reception said sorry. The final straw was that there is extensive building / construction work going on in the property next door that was not shared on the website or at time of booking. Very disappointing and not in a hurry to return. On a positive note- the staff are lovely (Especially Tom).
- kathryntQ5797RH (10/5): Fantastic experience - Amazing overnight stay at Hotel du Vin. Fantastic service, Beth was amazing on reception, the room was beautiful and comfy and dinner in the bistro was delicious
