The room we were in was a deluxe double and it was well set out and was very comfortable. We had breakfast with our booking and it was excellent local fare. So was the dinner the night of our stay with local produce cooked to perfection. Cerne Abbas and the surrounding village is gorgeous too with many historic sights.

- Derek (8/5): Enjoyable and great value stay in a charming 400+ year hotel at the foot a giant. - As base for sightseeing a visit it couldn't be more perfect. Parking space is always a boon and the breakfast (included in the deal) really was top tier. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beer is supplied by a local brewery and the IPA was very good, possibly too good... There are also two other pubs within throwing distance, which is handy if there is a function on as there was when I visited, but the staff were most accommodating and perfectly friendly despite being extra busy. Very little to complain about.

Lovely bedroom, delicious breakfast, lots of good choices for dinner and drinks, charming characterful main spaces - many much appreciated touches like the quality teas and coffees, the bathrobes etc It’s a bit picky but you asked…the underneath of taps could have been better cleaned
- Antony (9/5): A good place to stay - Staff very friendly and good atmosphere with guests. Lighting in the room not bright enough to see to do make-up. Because the bathroom was set for differently able people the shower was a bit low and came out at an angle rather than falling vertically.

- Karli (9/5): - Die Zimmer des alten Gasthauses sind in einem Nebengebäude ebenerdig untergebracht. Man muss kein Gepäck schleppen. Die Atmosphäre im Pub ist außerordentlich. Das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft. Direkt vor der Zimmertür verläuft ein Fußgängerpfad, das ist etwas gewöhnumgsbedürftig.

(9/5): Guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in alle Richtungen - Sehr nettes Personal, tolles Frühstück à la carte, gute Lage für Ausflüge in verschiedene Richtungen (Jurassic Coast; Montacute House), frische Milch zur Selbstbedienung Kein Negativpunkt für uns, aber man sollte wissen, dass die Zimmer ebenerdig direkt am Biergarten liegen. Wasserdruck der Dusche etwas gering, aber es sind natürlich auch alte Gebäude.

So much to explore at a later date. - The breakfast was very tasty and filling, all ingredients were to a high standard and locally sourced. The room we had was 'Piddle' and was kept to a very high standard of cleanliness, roomy, extremely comfortable and we slept like logs. The location was superb in a very quintessential village. The locals in the village were all very endearing and knowledgeable. The 'corner' shop was like walking into a time warp of times past with a vast supply of goodies. We will be back sometime in the near future again. There was nothing not to like. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, one night wasn't long enough to fully take in the beautiful surroundings.

- Edward (9/5): An exceptional experience. - The New Inn is exceptional. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the food is very tasty, the room we had (Tadnoll) was spacious, clean and very well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. The prices felt rather high, but they were probably justified by the comfort and the imagination of the arrangements. This property is hard to fault. The bathroom extractor fan was not strong enough to prevent all the mirrors misting over quite dramatically and a second chair would be appropriate in a room for the disabled, but otherwise there was very little to detract from the property’s good points.

- Alison (7/5): We're glad we stayed.... - I've wanted to stay here for a while now, and I'm glad we have. We loved the style of Wrackle, beautiful. The shower was the best we'd ever used! The attention to detail in the room was perfect. The bed was comfortable. The seating area was useful and welcome. There was fresh milk available in the little fridge outside the room, which is shared with the upstairs room/s. The breakfast on our first morning was amazing. We had the choice from the menu and also a continental buffet. Well worth the price, although we had to ask for our toast, which came out when we were literally eating the last bite of our breakfasts. This is such a lovely village, an idyllic location, we come every year to visit relatives so know it quite well now. There wasn't enough privacy as the room looked out onto the road and could have done with the bottom half being total privacy glass due to the fact that you had to close the curtains to get dressed etc which meant using artificial light. I personally prefer natural light. There is a large frame around the bed, which we both ended up hurting our legs on. We were covered in bruises. The door closer didn't work, so banged very loudly all the time. The breakfast on our second morning was lacking the buffet. I asked and was told that they only provide it when the hotel is full. I feel that this hotel is trying too hard to be more than it is, and it really doesn't need to. It's a 3 star hotel, a historic pub with rooms and it's beautiful. It just needs to concentrate on making what it already has perfect for guests, not trying to be too pretentious or up market.

- Jenn (10/5): Clean, friendly staff and lovely rooms and breakfast! - The room was lovely! Great size, very clean and in such a tranquil location :) the staff were amazing and super helpful, and the breakfast was great! We wish we’d had dinner there too. Nothing, it was perfect!

Hairdryer, robes, TV, chairs, wardrobe ( like in Narnia ! ) heated towel rail, toiletries, teas, coffees, hot chocolate, biscuits, fresh milk, gorgeous decorations, huge towels etc. Car park. Incredible breakfast with many choices, food was delicious. We thought we would have a drink before venturing to another pub for our evening meal. The New Inn didn't have their kitchen open that particular evening. We go all around the country and aside from central London, the price was unbelievable. A double vodka & diet coke & a pint of local low percentage ale was £19.10. To give you a comparison, the pub 50 yards away sold us exactly the same drinks for £13.50. Just ridiculous.
