We really enjoyed chatting with her about her family etc .I'm so sorry I can't recall either names. But you will know who you are. Big shout out to the local couple who sat at the bar all night and we played guess the year game about all the tunes belting out of Alexa. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

- Alan (10/5): A real gem of a community pub and a great place to stay. - This is one of the friendliest places I have stayed. All the staff were as accommodating as they could be. The room I had was modern and in faultless decoratiove condition. Everything was clean and fresh. The breakfast was freshly cooked and faultless and also hearty. The evening menu was unpretentious and as a result perfectly cooked. (Having said 'unpretentious' for desert they came up with a homemade strawberry cheesecake that would not have been out of place at a restaurant charging three times as much.)
- Chris (9/5): The Gun - great venue and superb value for money. - On arrival the staff member who met us was friendly and helpful. The room was first rate; clean, tidy and welcoming. Dinner exceeded our expectations - we both had the lamb stew - which proved to be exactly what we wanted after a few days of restaurant dining in Edinburgh. A delicious breakfast was served by an equally friendly and cheerful member of staff. The Gun was a brilliant place to stay and provided the ideal place to rest and recuperate before heading back to Cornwall. Some of the fixtures and fittings were starting to show signs of wear, but these did not detract from the most enjoyable, welcoming and friendly experience overall.
- Geoff (10/5): As Arny said “I’ll be back “😁 - Breakfast and evening meals were excellent with great caring service. Staff were lovely and proud of their place. Quite rightly. Community pub saved from the hands of developers. Made for the best experience. Unfortunately a car problem meant I couldn’t do what I wanted to in the area but staff were really sympathetic and helpful Absolutely nothing
- Angela (10/5): - Friendly and welcoming, comfortable, hospitable. Lovely breakfasts.
We were very impressed that it is owned by the community.
- EMMA (10/5): We were so well looked after from start to finish. The warmest of welcomes, just a brilliant stay. - This community run pub is a an absolute gem.
Great food and comfortable rooms, perfect for our running weekend away.
- William John (10/5): Good value, good staff. - Excellent customer, care the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Good location for discovering the area. All ok.
- Ann (8/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Great value. - Excellent pub. Lovely staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. Bed was great slept very well. The evening meal, the beef stew, was very nice especially the roast potatoes. Breakfast excellent in the morning. Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): - Staff were really friendly
- Jean (10/5): Lovely break away - Lovely place very friendly .
The meals lovely, nothing to much trouble.

View from dining room is exceptional.

- Gill (9/5): A well priced friendly inn - working hard and succeeding as a community hotel - Modern, clean, comfortable
- Graham (10/5): - Fantastic people , great room, and food was exceptional.
Definitely coming back Leaving.
- William (10/5): Perfecte stop op weg naar Schotland. - Rust en excellente kamer.
Terzelfder tijd kan je in de pub tussen pint en diner de mooie dag overlopen.
- carl (9/5): - Very efficient, friendly and accommodating staff. Simple but tasty food. Wanted to stay longer to try the whole menu. Good location to access all of Northumberland WiFi seemed a bit dodgy
No guiness on draft
- Paul (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful surroundings, good food, friendly staff, a real tonic. - Friendly, efficient, everything spotless, everything we needed, large cups for coffee in our room, kettle that worked, shower that was easy to manage, food excellent, easy parking, would recommend to friends. There wasn’t anything we did not like.
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely location, very friendly staff ,very nice food and spotlessly clean - The breakfast was very nice with all local produce.Couldnt fault anything and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Not a thing
- Janet (8/5): If in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to go back. - Location is a bit out in the sticks but that doesn't bother us as we have a car. Great for walkers. Staff were lovely and I like how the property has been brought back to life by the community. Excellent value for money. The food was good - nothing to fancy but good choices. It is adjacent to a busyish road but that didn't bother us really.
- Daria (10/5): A lovely community pub, with nice and quiet rooms - The staff was very welcoming and accommodating of our needs: we were late to check-in and they made sure to ask if we wanted to eat at the pub.
The room is spacious and luminous with plenty of sockets, an adequate armoire and armchairs and a side table. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure in the shower is good.
Breakfast was grand, with good choices, from a very generous fry up to an abundant porridge. The last day we had to leave early and they packed us a breakfast roll with a coffee!
We also dined thrice in the pub, there is a good choice, food is good, portions are big and the price is very nice. There is also a good choice of beers and a fantastic cider. The bed is a queen with a somewhat soft mattress, as we are used to a bigger and firmer bed it was a bit small. We still slept fairly well.
- Kathleen (10/5): A super place. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. - Great location with beautiful views. This community run pub with rooms was a credit to the people who have put the effort in to keep it in the village. Fabulous room. Spotlessly clean and comfy. Great freshly cooked food and local beers. All the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome.
- Jason (9/5): Great place would definitely come back . - Great friendly atmosphere, beer was fantastic and everyone was super friendly . Breakfast 10 out of 10 .
- Jordi (9/5): -
- Brenden (9/5): -
- Anrijeta (8/5): Little gem - Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They couldn’t do enough and even arranged taxi to the nearby village where we were going for the wedding . They also allowed early check in so we could leave our bags and get ready in time. Communication on the day and before arrival was good and efficient.
Rooms were clean and bed with firm mattress, very comfortable. Decent shower, coffee/ tea a biscuit in the room with a kettle is always welcome touch .Plenty of fried breakfast variety, just what’s need it after a day/ night of party . Also cereal variety . Beautiful view from dining area.
The pleasant enjoyable experience at The Gun just added to our beautiful day spent at the wedding. One of rooms was overlooking the main road so it got busy and noisy early in the morning. That could not be helped. We should have closed the window. I had ear plugs so did not bother me . Would still return to stay again .
- Kevin (10/5): - From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed, excellent staff friendly and helpful, comfortable and clean rooms excellent walk in shower, restaurant food was excellent with good choices good size portions, would highly recommend.
- Steven (9/5): Second Stay - Having stayed here a few years ago and in need of a break stop it was difficult to justify not coming back for a overnight stay. As before spacious rooms, really friendly staff, locals welcoming, good food and I'm sure to return again. A lovely place to stop. Sure to be back
- Lisa (10/5): Relaxing and welcoming - Very friendly, beautiful location . Very clean. Food was excellent and ample Nothing
- Silvia (10/5): Lovely surprise - First time for us staying in a pub so we were a bit sceptical. It was great! The staff is very friendly, we had dinner there which was very good and the room was spotless. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back for our future visits up north. Thanks!
- Luke (10/5): -

Good choice of menu and nice food. Lack of nice toiletries, but that wasn't a problem for us as we always take our own in case.
- Winkelmann (10/5): - Der von der Gemeinde betriebene Pub mit Übernachtung ist sehr gemütlich und auch die Gäste waren sehr nett und aufgeschlossen, gern zu einem Gespräch bereit.
