Guest Reviews
- Robert (8/5): Overnight stay - Overnight stay - mattress uncomfortable, probably tired as had a metal band around the top of the mattress which rubbed on us overnight
Meal - first course fine but desert of Banoffi had very little banoffi in it but was smothered on squirty cream. Expensive at £6.95.
- Dawn (10/5): - Breakfast and evening meals lovely, great value for money, staff really attentive and friendly.. room spotless and clean.
Had a fab couple of nights away..

- Robert (10/5): Our Talbot Hotel experience - The manager and staff were so helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, tidy and very welcoming. The food was excellent and I will always remember the steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. It was obvious it was all made within the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading for Welshpool and the remainder of Wales. Thank you again to all the staff
- Clive (8/5): Show - Lady who booked us in not as welcoming as other members of the team.comfy bed. Breakfast was good and staff great. Lovely shower.

- Alyson (10/5): - Lovely room with modern facilities and period features. Friendly, welcoming staff (and cat) and good, wholesome food. Quiet, peaceful location, central for many interesting places within an hour's drive. Would highly recommend.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food; particularly the free breakfast had a wide range to choose from and was good quality. I would recommend this hotel.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Such a warm welcome from Jackie and Jill, the room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious as was dinner and I was made to feel totally at home. Travelling solo for work I felt safe and looked after. I would not hesitate to highly recommend.

Our room was very comfortable and clean, with a good shower. The downstairs bar and restaurant area is looking tired and needs redecorating. The food was very good with a good menu choice. Our breakfast was excellent and presented to order. Overall our stay was most enjoyable and very good value for money..
- MIKE (6/5): - Nowt
- geoff (10/5): - Fantastic hotel. We stayed for two nights bed and breakfast. We were attending a wedding locally. The host was fabulous. Very personable and friendly. She made us feel so welcome. Helped us with anything we needed. Even helped when we couldn’t get a taxi and drove us personally to our venue. Amazing service.
Rooms very comfortable and clean. Breakfast lovely. Would definitely recommend this hotel x

Breakfast was freshly cooked, and a separate knife was given for the toast. Lovely room and great food
- gerald (10/5): - Arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a ni e young lady. Quickly shown to room. She even carried our bags for us.
A spotless room, nicely decorated with lovely walk on shower. Comfortable beds with fresh clean linen and choice of towels.
We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at competitive prices followed. A couple of well presented and tasty trad ales finished the night.
A thouroughly delicious breakfast was served by the landlady prior to our leaving.
The Talbot is a friendly traditional pub serving a good selection of well kept drinks
Well priced . There is a handy free carpark.
Dogs are welcome only in the bar. The stairs to bedrooms may prove difficult for disabled guests otherwise the Talbot is an excellent inn to visit and stay.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic home from home - Fantastic stay, real homely feel and brilliant staff. Ate in restaurant/lounge and all was fantastic. Every person across licensee and staff were excellent. They don't force their hospitality they treat you as a friend. I had thought I lost my watch and they found it after I checked out, it has great sentimental value to me so I am eternally grateful. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay if in the area again.

- possibly the best b&b we have ever stayed in. Faultless.

- Nicole (10/5): - Comfy beds, spacious room, lovely breakfast and really friendly staff.
- Jayne (6/5): - Pay attention to the small print - Expedia stated check in was 2pm, however in the small print on one of the emails it stated the pub didn’t open till 4pm that day.
- Abi (4/5): - The room beds were smaller than a single bed. The pillows were very thin and over used.
Both of us rolled out of bed and hurt ourselves.
It was noisy on the landing literally hearing everyone until all hours in the morning. Then shouting and an animal running up and down the hallway. It wasn't a great sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Overnight stay - Room clean. Recently upgraded. Fab ensuite. Breakfast amazing.
- Lynda (10/5): - Character. Beautiful setting.
- Farinah (10/5): - Excellent family room with enough space and beds for four of us and great ensuite

- Jacqueline (10/5): - A lovely old coaching inn.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Promising but let down by stained sheet. - Initial thoughts were very good.. All appeared very clean with plenty of room in thr room and appearance of being recently refurbished.
Tbe big let down was a stained duvet cover on one of the beds.. This really isn't acceptable. Not complaint was made, we just turned it over snd around so not in contact..
- Sally (10/5): - Excellent service lovely village pub/hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Business trip so can't comment on the location but fantastic staff, gorgeous room, comfy bed, really great breakfast, free parking, all surprisingly modern. Would recommend to all, and would return for business and pleasure.

Will definitely be staying there again
- David (8/5): - Lovely B&B, good breakfast, friendly staff, an added extra, a friendly talkative cat 😂
- Martin (10/5): - Very good value in beautiful location
- Linda (10/5): Pleasant stay at The Talbot Hotel. - Our recent stay at the Talbot hotel was a very pleasant stay, with friendly efficient staff. Our room was in the loft of building and up a couple flights of stairs. This wasn't a problem for us but thought it was nice of hotel to contact us directly before trip to make us aware just incase it was an issue. The room was a comfortable clean room. Breakfast was delicious and the little town of Berriew was just so pretty and a pleasure to walk through. Would definitely stay here again.
- Carolien (6/5): Great service, lovely staff! - Pros: Friendly staff, comfy bed, clean room and bathroom.
Cons: Cupboard door in bathroom needed repaired, clutter and furniture stored in the hallway across our room, dinner could do with seasoning. But lovely helpful service made up for these inconvenience and our breakfast was delicious too.
- Samantha (10/5): Warm, cosy and friendly - We had a very warm welcome from the team. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic and I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Really recommend this hidden gem !
- Stephen (10/5): - Everyone was helpful and the room was spotless. Great food too.
- Sid (8/5): - When I booked it my legs were great, but I have pulled
muscle in my back, so stairs were a bit of a problem.
- Robert (10/5): Great food and Service - The hotel is in a small village and is rather like a pub with rooms Great food and service very relaxing
- Fiona (10/5): - Went here for my dads 80th food was amazing ..friendly staff and a fab breakfast
- Juliet (10/5): Worth a stay! - Fabulous hotel. We all enjoyed home cooked food, and slept liked logs !
- Gopinath (8/5): - The bed was not comfortable due to the springed base. Staff very friendly. Room was quite small and bathroom was tiny.
- christopher (10/5): Perfect stay and perfect room - Perfect stay, the photos on the website don’t do this place justice! My room was well sized and recently refurbished and spotless. Breakfast was really nice and free and was asked if I want more and was certainly full after it! Will be staying again soon.
- Kathleen Gwyneth Anne (10/5): Cosy Christmas Stay - Lovely old Hotel/Inn. Very cosy and warm. Room very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay and loved Puss-Puss! Many Thanks.
- Carol (10/5): - Excellent. Friendly staff.
- Janet (10/5): Perfectly poached eggs! - A friend and I spent a long weekend here in order to visit Powis Castle nearby. We had a warm welcome, our room had been recently refurbished and tastefully decorated, keeping many original features of this very old building.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent.
Would recommend this hotel.
- Emma (10/5): Nice friendly place to stay - I stayed overnight with my 8 year old son. The staff were very welcoming and catered to all our needs. Our room was spacious and well equipped it was also very clean. The breakfast next morning was very nice and cooked to order. The only complaint I have is it was very noisy and I didn't sleep very well due to inconsiderate other guests coming to and fro their rooms and talking loudly outside my door.
- Donald (8/5): Glad we stayed there! - The Talbot Hotel was underging substantial renovations when we stayed there. The room we had, No. 1, had been renovated and was very well appointed.
Food was very good and the hot breakfast cooked to order. The village of Berriew is attractive and quiet.
- Peter (8/5): - Quaint little property but delightful.
Excellent breakfast to get our day off to the right start.
- Ron (8/5): - A typical country pub. Excellent staff, good amenities in the small village.
- Irene (10/5): - Had a lovely couple of day at The Talbot. Hope to go again later this year
- Alan (8/5): Lovely mini-break - The Talbot was ideally placed for our visit to Powys castle. Reasonably priced and comfy room. The immediate surroundings are beautiful and the food service was good. The only negative was the shower, it only had 2 settings, freezing and scalding
- Peter (8/5): - Friendly staff with excellent food. Great surrounding inside and out.
Bed a little uncomfortable and noisy due to metal work and springs in mattress. However would recommend to others and stay again. Very friendly cat😂😂
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly & helpful staff - Extremely friendly and helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was very good, and there was plenty of food provided for the evening meal which was nice and hot (although it wasn't the highest quality food being a little bland). We enjoyed the walk down the riverside and along the nearby Montgomery Canal. Our room was up some steep stairs and the mattress was too hard for either of us to have a good nights sleep. Overall, good value for money, thanks.
- PL (10/5): Good hotel - Very good. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Alison (10/5): Lovely - We have stayed here 4 times now
Great food
Lovely breakfast
Nice tearooms just over the bridge serves beautiful cakes
- ALAN (10/5): - all excellent
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would recommend a stay - When we first arrived we thought the place looked scruffy but we quickly realised that they were having major remake of the outside area. We were in room 3 and it had obviously been recently refurbished and was attractively done. The ensuite was spotlessly clean. Our only criticism was the shelf over the sink which made it more or less impossible to clean your teeth and rinse using the sink. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a wide choice and it was well cooked with good quality ingredients. 10 out of 10 for breakfast. They offer a good choice of evening and lunchtime food. Nothing too fancy but something for everyone. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
- Penelope (10/5): - Lovely little hotel in quiet area. Staff very friendly and meals and service excellent.
