Guest Reviews
- STEVEN (8/5): - Great value and breakfast
- Michael (10/5): Great Stay - Family run Inn, all of whom were visible at one time or the other, and personalized attention are hallmarks of this hotel. Dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. If there had been more on my agenda for the area I would have gladly stayed longer.
- Marion (10/5): Great stay - Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Very clean ans comfortable room witg a delicious breakfast.
- Peter (10/5): Excellent small hotel - Fabulous small hotel, great breakfast, comfortable clean room
- Philip (2/5): Rude staff horrible place to stay - Breakfast only at 8.30am no good for people who start work at 8 am and not on website. Drainage smell in room bed uncomfortable, no where to check out in morning as all locked everywhere would not recommend.
- Stephen (8/5): - Comfortable and friendly. Stair carpet could do with a replacement
- Amy (8/5): - We had dinner and breakfast at the pub, pleased with both meals
- Robert (6/5): A bit disappointing - The room was okay. The door was not properly fitted on the spring. The dining room needs a proper clean. I dislike sticking to the table. The staff need to be interested rather than take it or leave it.
- roy (8/5): - Pub with rooms. Friendly staff.
- Jayne (8/5): - The start of our walk for the Northumberland coast path so a great location for this plenty of parking on street around the village to leave the car for 6 days. Very quiet in the pub upstairs in our room - a good size good size bathroom. Only suggestion would be some marmalade or preserves for the lovely toast at breakfast would have been great.
- Joseph (8/5): Useful base for wedding - We stayed for one night as we were going for a wedding near by. The check in time of 2 was very strict which was slightly unfortunate as the wedding started at 2.30. We had called the night before and asked if there was anyway we could get in 10 minutes before but were told no and that most guests keep their belongings in the car until they return at night. This was not helpful but when we did arrive they did actually let us in 10 minutes early, it would have been good to know this to avoid undue stress. The staff were friendly on arrival and at breakfast
- Stephen (8/5): - A very reasonably priced property. The highlight was the Full English breakfast.
As with may of these cheaper rooms the ensuite can smell a little damp- but this was the only negative - good water pressure and shower.
Would stay again if in the region.
- Stephen (8/5): Business stopover - Basic pub accommodation but good value for money ok for overnight stopover. Food and breakfast all good.
- Kate (10/5): Great stay, friendly staff and perfect location - Beautiful place, friendly staff and really nice area. We had a perfext stay, thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Good room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Not actually in Morpeth - Quiet stay. Warm welcome and good interaction with staff. Good breakfast.
Had an issue finding it as the address was listed as Morpeth but is actually in Ellington.
- Andrew (8/5): - Great staff that were very welcoming. Food was good quality and room was clean and comfortable. Could hear road noise and the kitchen extractor due to the window didn't seal properly, simple fix.
- Peter (10/5): Would recommend and stay again ourselves. - Very relaxing time, old mining village with several beaches in close proximity.
Great restaurant setup with a selection of meals each evening.
A traditional breakfast to fill you for any day ahead. Plenty on offer for those that don't wish a full on traditional meal.
Room was spacious no complaints on that at all. Bathroom a bit tight but does not detract from the room at all.
Car park has plenty of spaces and a local shop opposite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Home from home - Stay at the Plough fairly regularly in order to visit elderly relatives living in the area. Katrina and her staff look after their guests really well, nothing is too much trouble.
- anita (10/5): Great staff - Great location, excellent food served, excellent and friendly staff and rooms were spotless
- Paula (10/5): Can't fault this hotel. - Friendly staff, lovely big room, hearty breakfast, and a decent and reasonably priced restaurant in the evening. Plus draught ales and a bit of local art for sale.
- john (10/5): Great stay - Had a great stay at the plough
Great people..great food..great service..whats not to like
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel, not in Morpeth - This is a lovely pub/hotel. The room very spacious, very clean and modern. Very new, comfortable bed.
Lovely staff, decent pub food and friendly ambience.
My only gripe is that Expedia suggests the pub is in Morpeth. It isn't. It is over eight miles away from Morpeth. This isn't what I expected, as the address suggested it was Front St Morpeth. I drove to the town, without Sat Nav, as that's easy enough. When I got there, I found it was another eight miles away.
A bit misleading, as I'd planned a night in the town and had business in the town the following day.
- Morag (10/5): Very friendly hotel. - From our early check-in and throughout our stay Katrina, Holly and Abigail were always happy, bubbly and helpful. The full english breakfasts are enough to fill you up all day. We stayed for 4 nights so regularly had a few drinks in the lounge in the evening so the bar staff knew what we would order. f
- colin (8/5): - alright
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Food was superb, location was fantastic, however. The Inn itself is dated, we had a twin ensuite room, beds were comfortable, towels, toiletries, TV. Free Wifi but could not get any reception for it. I was woken up very early every morning when the heating came on as it rattled through the radiators, the shop across the road was constantly busy with cars going to and fro, the entrance to the Inn was underneath so smokers stood outside at night. I do think it's overpriced and although the location for my trip was brill, I would not stay there again.
- stan (10/5): COSY HOTEL FRIENDLY STAFF - Travelling up to amble with husky for foster home phoned hotel to sat may be late arriving offered to keep kitchen open for us until we arrived. Brilliant service and very friendly staff meal and breakfast just right.will go back if up that way again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The simple shower attached to the bath taps was inadequate and antiquated with no heat control. It needs updating.
Breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable so on the whole a pleasant stay.
- Graham (8/5): Perfect stop-over! - Perfect place for a stop-over for work, very welcoming staff even though I arrived late in the evening, pleasant greeting in the morning even though i was the only guest fro breakfast, and what a fantastic breakfast it was! Really set me up for the day. Thanks :-)
- Jessica (10/5): Rugby lovers in England - We loved our stay in this cute inn! The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The inn was in a cute town with local color.
- ALAN (10/5): Great Village pub - Stayed here for the Great North Run, Staff were great, allowed us to check in early, prepared breakfast early with what we requested. Really nice village and not too far from Newcastle!
- Kerry (10/5): GREAT LITTLE GEM - it was great. The landlady was fabulous. The Room was very nice and clean
- iain (8/5): - Good hotel/pub friendly staff enjoyed our stay here very much
- Philip (10/5): Very good - Very welcoming. The room was very clean and well-appointed. There was some noise from the kitchen extractor fan below the window but this shut off around 10pm so fine for sleeping. Easy to find and a short drive to the beach. Evening meal and breakfast very good too. Would recommend.
- Darren (10/5): 8th stay approx ... - I've stayed at the Plough alone , with my sister and niece , and my brother , whilst visiting my ( now deceased ) dad .
I've stayed in 3 of the 4 ( I think ) rooms available .
All have been clean and comfortable . Bedding always clean . Bathrooms always clean . Staff extremely friendly . Katrina is a busy but welcoming host .
Great location for visiting many beautiful towns/villages and beaches.
Ample car parking space . Car has always felt safe .
On last visit 5 days ago my brother and I went on our motorbikes on a pilgrimage in memory of our dad. Katrina , without asking, provided out of sight , undercover parking for our bikes . Great service .
We only stayed 1 night this time and enjoyed 3 pints of Abbots ale and an evening meal , plus outstanding dessert !
We slept well and finished our trip to the Plough with the extremely consistent full English breakfast ; really really tasty .
I also enjoyed another full English next morning at another Inn , which was tasty too , but not a patch on Katrinas . Yumm. I could eat it now !!!
I will be back at the Plough before the year is out . I'm a bit of a fussy guy , but the Plough is a great place .
Enjoy your travels :-)
- steve (10/5): Very warm welcome - Owner made sure we we're well looked after and we were able to get in if we were late, even gave us her mobile number.
- Alan (8/5): En route to Scotland - We were made welcome by Katrina and enjoyed our two night stay at the Plough.
We were looked after at the bar by Holly and the meals were excellent.
Will be back.
- Jodi (10/5): Warm welcome to a typical English pub - We had a lovely quiet stay at this pub with a terrific English breakfast
- Frank (10/5): The Plough Inn 25/07/15 - pleasant evening with the two girls (plus kitchen staff) running the bar and restaurant. No long waiting for service and a pleasant manner from both. A delight to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Plough,Ellington - Great Pub,friendly and great food.
Great value for money.
Not in Morpeth..it's in Ellington.
- Anne (10/5): Home from home - Very relaxing and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but - mattress on bed settee needs to be thicker
- ALAN (10/5): Home from home - Comfortable peaceful friendly good food
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Plough was very nice and the staff were all very helpful. Our room was clean and tidy and the meals were excellent.
- raymond (8/5): the plough, ellington village - hotel very good. landlady and staff friendly and helpful, would certainly recommend.
- C (4/5): Dormitory style accommodation - Dormitory accommodation. In our room there were twin beds, a double bed, and a bed settee. You have to go round the back of the pub through an unlit area, not too iffy for 2 men but I think women might find it daunting. The staff were pleasant but I would never stay there again.
- John (10/5): great value - Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Very good food. Would stay again.
- Antony Charlton (8/5): Plough - Staff were very helpful the price was really good value & the breakfast was gigantic
Included in the price....
- Sue (10/5): comfortable friendly pub with rooms - Very friendly welcoming staff, lovely large light room and very comfy bed, rather small but adequate en-suite.
Great meal in bar that evening and an excellent breakfast in the morning.
- Carol (8/5): Pleasant stay - Nice room, helpful staff, great evening meal, handy for the start of the Northumberland Coastal Path (1.5 miles to start)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Weekend - Friendly staff, good food, pleasant room, although we had the smallest as other rooms were booked. Wouldn't hesitate to go again. Close to the sea and Morpeth. Good links to other areas.
