Guest Reviews
- Jeremy (4/5): - Very basic property that is close to the beach.
Pros - access to the beach
Cons - basic room, no tv, poor lighting, bathroom needs an upgrade
- Alexandria (10/5): - Great hotel manager. I was overcharged by accident but the manager informed me asap and helped to resolve the situation.
- Christina (10/5): - Its my home away from home beautiful beach , location , staff i have nothing bad to say I will be back soon
- Glenn (8/5): Glenn - A nice place to relax.
- Madeline (10/5): - This property was amazing the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Love the vibes!
- Wendy (10/5): - Small, quaint, safe, clean. Very basic, but perfect for our needs. Owners/management/staff are incredibly friendly, approachable, and accommodating. Security staff is 24/7, on property, making me feel safe and secure at all times.
- Sarah (10/5): - Excellent hotel. This is our second tome staying and we'll definitely be back
- Maxine (6/5): - Nice palace
- Rafael (10/5): - Great people, helpful and nice. Very clean rooms. Variety of dining and entertainment in resort and close by. Great beach, of course. Will come back.
- Christina (10/5): - I had other amazing stay at tamboo the majority of the staff is so amazing , go above and beyond and r so sweet .
The location is perfect and the beach beautiful . My only complaint is one girl i have never seen before who checked me in not very friendly i had another interaction with her and she was again kinda rude as well I was disturbing her then another friend of mine who i have got to stay there with me the last few times last time for a month she went to inquire on rates for an upcoming stay another month and she told her she doesnt know and she should look online so probably lost a customer . Everything else I love.my.home away from home
- Andrew (6/5): - the rooms faced the sun and the decks were to hot to sit on. Deck chairs were uncomfortable. staff were very good and helpful. Andy the security man was always ther to help wit anything.
- Nacola Pauline (10/5): - The cleanness and staff were kind and helpful
- Sherri (6/5): - The convenience to the beach was great but the actual rooms were old and run down for the price we paid TV did not work and the restaurant was very limited
- Amanda (6/5): Rude front desk. - I requested a specific room months before checking in. I told them it was my husband's birthday and wanted everything to be perfect. She assured me I had that room and of course when we get there they already gave my room to someone else. Girl upon check in was rude from the minute we walked in. She didn't greet us, she didn't apologize for giving away my room. They could have said sorry, offered a free dinner or breakfast...something. WiFi hardly works if that is important to u. The beach chairs are extremely uncomfortable solid wood. But other than that we had a nice stay. The vibes are nice there's security. It's beachfront. If you can deal with rude staff it's s good value. The shower was great and the beds were pretty comfortable. Nannette the maid was wonderful
- Kody (10/5): - Awesome place to stay, we will be back. Bring ear plugs tho lol !
- Tim (2/5): - Unfortunately, a very bad experience for our family. So much so that we moved to an alternate resort the following morning. The overall facility was substandard and in disrepair - certainly not as portrayed on the Expedia listing. But the biggest issues related to customer service and comfort. A very large sound system was playing loud bass-heavy music until at least 2-3am. Combined with the uncomfortable beds, this made sleep next to impossible. Worse yet, when approached with this complaint, the staff person was dismissive at best and rude at worst. Very poor customer service overall. Will not be returning and feel we are owed a refund for the second night as we had to abandon this facility early.
- Michelle (10/5): - The people were amazing
- Ricardo (4/5): - It’s an ok property that needs a little TLC.
- Maurice (4/5): - Property is a nice property but everything is old dated and dirty. The is bed is old and in a poor condition, the linen on the beds is between stained or have hole in them, bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly, AC is falling down, the television is so small and don’t work and the chef is so rude so we change our mind from eating there. On the positive note they have a beach and it was clean and nice. Wouldn’t stay again
- Biancaleona (10/5): - Great spot just in the beach with friendly staff . Lovely stay
- Awstin M (10/5): - Not a luxury spot by any means but why go on vacation if you spend your time in the room anyway. The location is excellent. Staff was friendly and nice. Was not packed at all. Almost felt we had the whole resort to ourselves. I have stayed at the Riu Palace up the road for 10X the price and I would much prefer the Tamboo. Chill vibe. Might find small ants in the room and water pressure might not be the best, but get over it and enjoy the island.
- Kevin (8/5): - Can put a tea pot in rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple stay - Great customer service. Water pressure was an issue at times .
- randy (10/5): - On the beach
- Jessica (8/5): - Close to the beach, good price, clean, safe, friendly locally owned boutique hotel. If you are wanting a authentic, down to earth experience to Jamaican culture support this local family business.
All the live music you could want is in walking distance and security is present if you need assistance.
Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful.
We are grateful for our stay, thank you ❤️
- Martin (8/5): - The place was a great deal price wise. The rooms and staff were great. The one thing wrong we found was that the restaraunts menu was not supported by food availability. But. Steps away to either side of the resort the restaurants are well stocked and reasonably priced.
- Glenroy Gifton (6/5): - 👍
- Oneil (6/5): - The property is within close proximity to the beach which was awesome. It did what it was meant to do, provide lodging.
- Felicia (10/5): - Was simply wonderful for both family and fun.
- PETERANN (6/5): - The rooms are very worn...property needs to be upgraded. The pictures online are probably from years ago when they first opened.
- Raymond (8/5): - Great staff and location
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Denise (6/5): - Bathrooms need minor repairs. Please provide blankets for beds.
- MICHAEL (2/5): - Property looks rundown. The reservation off was not presentable. The place needs to be upgraded especially for what I was been charged per night.
- Faye (6/5): - Location. Right on the beach
- Randy Allen (10/5): - The workers at the bar are excellent
- CAMIEL R (10/5): - Clean. Love the location and beach access
- trevor (10/5): - Finally some peace
- Terryann (2/5): - I had to check out after 2 days. I booked for 5 days. Room was not cleaned and very unsafe. Constant fear for my life. Check the local media for details
- Kerisha (6/5): - served the purpose intended. booked just to sleep the night and travel the next day. I had a day pass for an all inclusive close by. It has a nice beach on the property with clear water and is very central. If your looking fancy it may not be for you but it has ac an hot water
- Adam (6/5): - Rooms needs upgrading, needs new linen and towel and washcloth
- Shalmer (8/5): My special getaway - Love this hotel. It is small therefore very personable..If you are looking for famcy and room service this is not the place for you..If you just want to chill and feel comfortable and stress free..book here..Accommodations are nice..the rooms are clean and of course the sea is beautiful.
- Chalene (2/5): - The property is absolutely nothing like advertised, it is totally run down and the staff is clueless about hospitality. The beds in the room were unmade, the bathroom was dingy and it smelled really bad. Two nights were booked and we only stayed there one night, had we gotten to property earlier we would not have stayed any at all! They also had no clue about our booking through Expedia. This place should not even be listed, poor facilities and horrible customer service. I would NEVER recommend it!!!!! Do not book it!
- Aljarome (2/5): - nothing
- Teri Ann (6/5): - Meh
- Sharon (10/5): - Excellent
- Martha (2/5): - There was mold in the bathroom, the tub was disgusting. It was so dirty that I chose not to shower. there was 2 small windows that didn’t have curtains and instead of curtains they hang pieces of see through fabric. The toilet bowl was running the whole time after I flushed it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
- Crystal (6/5): - The beach on the property was awesome but inside the property can do better morr plugs better lighting iron iron board needed etc
- Wanda (8/5): - Great staff, Cam and Andy were always available to help with anything we asked. Location is perfect a few steps from the beach. Our room could use some updating/TLC otherwise our stay was wonderful.
- Stephen (6/5): - Staff were very nice. Property was kept tidy and was mostly clean, except the bar/dining area bathrooms. It is in a good location. Room was really poor, except for the air conditioner. Regarding amenities in the room: when I got to my room no towels, had to go ask for some, took a day to get a wash cloth. Had to ask for a bed spread the second day too. There was no safe, coffee maker, fridge, or phone. Didn't care about the phone. Would have been nice to have a coffee maker. Requested a fridge and safe and got a few confusing responses on those questions. Ended up not pressing the issue. There was a TV, but I never turned it on. One bed was very uncomfortable. Furniture was scratched, marred, and stained; sand in the drawers. Bathroom was the worst I have ever seen: mirror was pitted, mold on the ceiling, very low water pressure for the shower, no curtain on shower window, just steel bars, plus a large gap at the window frame stuffed with toilet paper, which I added to. Bathroom sink drained slow and plastic tops on cold and hot water knobs kept falling off.
- Daniel (6/5): - Property was nice and close to the beach. The beach was beautiful but not enough lounge chairs. Room were basic beds were hard no fridge or coffee maker or microwave in our room and only seen a few cockroach's . The grounds were very well taken care of and pretty. Music could be loud at night but bearable. Staff and locals that hung around the hotel were nice.
- Shalmer (8/5): - Great places to stay if you want a private beach, good ervice and inexpensive food..It is ver minimal and the entrance is not pleasing to the eye but you cannot beat the beachy Jamaican feel you get once you enter the beach area..Everyone is friendly..I will return..
- Matt James (2/5): - Nothing a dump
- David (10/5): - This is a small resort but central clean and on the beach. The beach area is a public space so there is the inconvenience of husslers approaching you but that really wasn't a big issue. There is a nice coffee shop. I didn't eat there but it is convenient for bars and resteraunts nearby. Bit difficult to find the entrance gate, but the gate keeper and reception were 24 hours for me despite the website saying 10pm. I would say value for money.
- Tenecia (2/5): - Floor in the room was very dirty.Poor wifi . Property were full of people just hanging out. Felt very unsafe. Would not recommend
- Chanda (8/5): - The rooms needed
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent - Excellent stay. Friendly staff. Beautiful location.
- Gemma (2/5): - The hot water knob in shower didn't work and the shower curtain wouldn't keep close the talked bad about me to local people and rude
- Emma (2/5): - There is a reason this property is non refundable, and that is because the conditions are so bad. The music from the bar on the property was so loud that we decided the only way we would be able to sleep or even think that night would be to leave. We checked out within one hour.
- Eudine R (6/5): - The property is ok, the internet is not so good
- Joseph (10/5): - The best Bang for buck beach front hotel in negril
- Desiree (10/5): - The location couldn't be better.
- Tamika (6/5): - The rooms need work. Ants were all over the bathroom. Sheets and towels were hard but the location is great.
- Aysha (10/5): - The property is located right on the beach and the staff are super friendly. Loved every minute.
- james b (10/5): - Great place always treated we well. Suger dose a great job of making sure your stay is all you wanted. On the beach in a great location!! Walking distance to the local fish market and plenty of places to eat or just chill and have a drink.
- Diany (2/5): - This place looks nothing like the photos ! At all!! It’s filthy and ran down! Do not
Go here . The ac smells so bad we did not stay here we went and saw the rooms then decided to go else where .
- James (10/5): - Great location small but very well located. My room was clean hot water for my shower . cab on site anytime I wanted to move about town. Not far from the shopping market. Staff was great.
- Andrew (6/5): - The location was ideal, right on the beach as claimed.
The inside was typical for medium priced hotels in Jamaica, old fittings, dripping taps, lukewarm shower water, intermittent WiFi service and analog low quality TV picture.
- Sandy (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Jamaica Tamboo. A basic hotel with clean rooms, and amazing staff. They took care of us and made sure we had what we needed. I would go back. if you are looking for a small hotel with wonderful staff, this is the place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked almost everything about the property, the position, the size of the rooms, the staff so attentive and friendly.
Maybe some of the bathrooms need to be refurbished a little.
- Jade (2/5): - The place needs to be renovated. It’s run down. But staff are nice!
- Jolene (8/5): 3rd time Tamboo repeats since 2009 - beds were hard and only had a sheet to cover up with would have like at least another blanket. Pillows were also hard and lumpy. Not every day we had warm showers. the rooms were clean. And the staff was VERY friendly. Great food. We know we were in Jamaica so it was Jamaica style.:) we didn't want all the fancy all-inclusive. Mr. Anderson and Rocky and all the cooks and cleaning people did a wonderful JOB!!
- Thomas (6/5): - Housekeeping kept the room clean, and the towels changed out daily.
The manager allowed the outside bar to play loud music late at night, making it very difficult to sleep.
The toiletries provided consisted of a bar of soap, so bring your own body wash and shampoo.
- Stafford (6/5): Average comfort and great staff - The AC was excellent. Hot water was non existent, just tipid, just a cut above the cold water. Windows in the back had no curtains and had to hang towels. Near end of stay, see through panel was installed on one of the windows. Staff was friendly and housekeeping was very good. After recent remodeling the place is just average but would stay there again if we have no better choices. Cable channels were all analog and no CNN only MCNBC among a few other notable channels.
- Jojoe612 (10/5): - This property is right in the mix Of it all make sure to check out Francisco’s coffee shop
- A.L. (6/5): - If you just want somewhere by the beach to stay with reasonable price then this is place. The room is basic with bed or beds, air conditioning (no remote control in the room, so can't change the temperature), a small TV with cable, bathroom with shower (it's solar heating so in the late night the water is not that warm, but in the day the water is warm), and wifi (slow). The staff on the property are friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staffing was very nice , building is a bit old and need lots of repair. My room was under water due to the rain , the ceiling need painting have lots of spots and nail sticking out , doors is not Secure needs better doors for the room . Also need a gift shoP on the property . Overall this property needs lots of work to get done to it .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I loved it was by the beach. The towels were a little rough hardly no hot water but overall I enjoyed. The staff were friendly n courteous.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was on the beach & the room was clean and quiet
