Guest Reviews
- Jill (10/5): Family holiday - the perfect package - The location, beach facilities & Nautilus restaurant Nothing
- Ava (5/5): Good - Comfy bed Laundry room (washing machine)
- Ally (10/5): Amazing and we will be back! - We stayed at the plantation house and it had its own pool and full facilities. It was a short work to the resort too. Sandflies 😂 but it was great the house provided repellent
- Tessa (9/5): -
- Jayson (8/5): So relaxing, feels like a secret kiwi slice of paradise, not swarming with tourists - Great breakfast, private, right on the beach, clean , beautiful gardens, friendly staff, gear available for snorkel and kayaking Tuna was horribly overcooked at dinner, should have complained but didn’t want to upset the great staff
- Michael (10/5): -
- Hanita (8/5): R&R in Raro - The rooms were beautiful and had everything we needed. The staff were exceptionally great with all questions and requests. Location was great and we enjoyed the flexibility of a unit with a kitchenette. We initially booked an apartment with lagoon view which was not really the case. The Rarotonga council needs to work on or get specialists to address the sewerage leaking into the lagoon.
- Mervyn (10/5): -
- Dominique (8/5): - Lovely island vibe - stunning location and exception staff!
- Adelle (5/5): Staff were very friendly and beach was easy to access however for the cost of the room - beds were uncomfortable, room w - Pool was easily accessible and walking to the beach very easy. Really enjoyed restaurant next door. Beds were very uncomfortable and my room was not serviced every day particularly for what I paid for.
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Maria P (10/5): - All staff was awesome at Muri Beach Resort especially all the staff at sister resort Nautilis Restaurant staff.
- Rene (10/5): - We will definatly be back. Such friendly staff, clean rooms and the views on the beach amazing. The staff even bought us breakfast to our room,as they somehow knew our morning flight had been changed and we would miss out on our breakfast.
- Robyn (8/5): - Nice spot on Muri Beach.

- Linda (8/5): - Nice decorated spacious room indoor and outdoor settings with plants around for privacy. Good Drying clothes lines right outside the room. Comfortable beds with air conditioner and quiet area. Good swimming pool, nice garden. Handy for meals next door at Nautilus hotel. Walking distance to Night Market, attractions and activities.
Stay for 7 nights, although it’s self service it will be nice for one complimentary house keeping just vacuum the floor and charge dry towels as the room is not cheap. Good stay!
- Karen (10/5): - Wonderful staff, very accomodating. Easy walk to the night markets, mini mart and museum. Rima's bakery is across the road and delicious. If you get the premium deal you get brekkie at the Nautilus and that is amazing. Planning our next trip!
- Bronwyn (10/5): - A lovely quiet resort on the lagoon. Pool is away from the beach which makes it perfect when the wind is up in the lagoon. Small pool, quiet resort. Good for small families with older, quiet kids and/or couples. No restaurant but options nearby. Bar is open weather permitting. Staff friendly and very helpful. Our flight was cancelled and they gave us a late check out and helped us to find alternate accomodation as the Island was almost full.
- Bradley (5/5): - Can’t beat the location All the bedding and towels were stained, curtains were mouldy, fan had 3 settings and only high speed worked, A/C was very noisy, generally everything needed maintenance.
- Suzanne (8/5): Raro is beautiful lots to do and see. - Fabulous location
- Eleanor (9/5): Fab stay, perfect location and wonderful grounds - Great location, clean and comfortable Nothing
- Leanne (9/5): Wonderful property - location, space and amenities - The property was in an excellent position on the island. There were 6 of us and it was so spacious with lovely furnishings. You could see the lagoon and had everything you need. The outdoor space was private and such a lovely environment. Each day we would sit by the pool, talk and eat at the large outdoor table (some nights utilising the bbq) and then we would move inside to play games (provided) and talk until late. Our first thoughts on arriving is that the property is so much better than the photos online. The showers were sometimes hard to get good pressure and temperature at night however seemed to be fine in the morning.
- Ross (8/5): Very good -
- Phillips (9/5): Close to attractions, friendly accomodating staff, extremely comfortable. Everything you would want in Rarotonga. - Proximity to the beach. The gardens at the property were amazing, very well kept and ensured the rooms were private. Nothing really. A little bit of maintenance needed inside my room but nothing much
- Sonia (9/5): Superb -
- Brenda (7/5): It was a lovely spot. The staff were great but the price is overvalued. - Beautiful beachfront property, close to sister resort, market, nice pool area, Definitely needs some updating and upgrades . Our unit was on the beachfront and it was very windy. The whole time could use a partial windscreen on the patio.
Could also use a decent pool side bar, for people to engage with their neighbours and stay on the property
- A&s (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (9/5): Peaceful island vibes! - Amazing staff, beautiful scenery and relaxing vibe.
Great little villas to stay in. Would recommend to bring your own reef shoes as the free ones to use can be hard to find a pair.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Di (9/5): Superb -
- Jackie (10/5): Beautiful location and facility. We will be back - Excellent location to beach, shops and eateries Miscommunication about bill payment
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (8/5): - Good.
Sometimes it was not possible to watch YouTube on the TV set due to poor Wi-Fi connection.
- Cathy (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Garth (10/5): - Great location on lagoon. Walk on the beach or snorkel. Cool resort dogs
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (7/5): Nice staff - Location near beach and Nautilus Lagoon not easily swimmable
- Martin (10/5): - Directions for guests arriving on late flights using a rental car were a bit problematic but are now resolved after constructive recommendations and discussion with their delightful and cooperative management.
Fantastic location right on the edge of the spectacular Muri lagoon and plenty of kayaks, SUPs, goggles, snorkels available for guest use.
The restaurant does excellent breakfasts and dinners.
- Sandra (7/5): Relaxed atmosphere - Location good but Muri lagoon devoid of fish . Ability to use Nautilus facilities good. Smelly sewer pipes near unit19. Each unit is different so no consistency.
- Lyn (10/5): Exceptional - Nice layout around the pool Na
- Adam (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jaiman (9/5): A nice family holiday. - We had a lovely time at Muri Beach resort. Particularly happy with the buffet breakfast next door. There is parking for vehicles and very good access to the beach. Pool is also great for kids and sea gear (kayaks, snorkels, reef shoes, paddle boards are provided). Staff are around the resort are very friendly. Very good housekeeping to.
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful home to holiday in we would def recommend it for big families or groups. - How open it was very spacious and plenty of rooms loved the welcome gift aswell. Probably needed a few more blankets didn’t have enough for everyone.
- The (8/5): Better value for money than Fiji but still an expensive way to spend a winter week. -
- Jayne (8/5): Absolutely loved it - Location price Room a little dated
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chilton (7/5): Initially disappointed as had expected more luxury, but swayed by the friendly, helpful staff and incredible location - Staff were really friendly and helpful, the location was beautiful, with easy access to Muri beach Excepted it to be a bit more luxe based on the price and the photos
- Grzybowski (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joy (8/5): Very good -
- Pauline (10/5): Good stay - Na O
- Beth (9/5): Pleasureable and memorable. Good family environment. - That the business was endeavouring to be eco friendly and sustainable. To have access to Nautilus restaurant for breakfast and dinner. N/A
- Jacek (8/5): - The cat Rufus finally got veterinary help, which is good.
Thank you.
- Ann (10/5): Brilliant - So authentic. Brilliantly located. Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): The man at reception was very welcoming his name is Made and went out of his way with questions - The breakfast was at Nautilus the sister hotel next door, you picked the hot food from the menu and helped yourself to the cold buffet. Everything was good. All good nothing to complain about
- Joal (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mitchell (7/5): Good - Location is great and the small deck area that over looked the beach was perfect for a morning coffee. Son loved the pool. Friendly staff. Loved the availability of SUP, kayak, snorkel gears and reef shoes.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A Hidden Gem - This is where our Cook Island Adventure began. We were welcomed by Waka at the airport. Our bungalow was IMMACULATE. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We loved the laid back vibe of Muri Beach Resort and the accessibility to coffe shops and convenient stores. Our favorite outing throughout our stay in the Cook Islands was our island tour with Waka. He not only is super informative about the island, culture and history, but he truly takes pride in his work. Even upon returning from Aitutaki we saw him at the airport. It was like seeing an old friend. Muri Beach Resort may not be as highly rated as the other places we stayed in the Cooks, but it was definitely our favorite!
- Mahe (10/5): Beautiful environment, staff, and community! Thank you again Muri Beach Resort staff, amazing work! -
- Rex (10/5): - quiet location, close to market and other fun things.
Fantastic staff and management !
- Andrea (10/5): Great location - Had a wonderful time in Rarotonga. Everyone was extremely friendly at the Muri Beach Resort.
Quite resort, clean and beautiful gardens.
Villa maybe getting a bit dated but great central place to stay
- Shelley Maree (10/5): - Small, quiet resort with everything you need. Great location in Muri. Breakfast package next door at the Nautilus was excellent.
- ANDREW (8/5): - Staff were excellent and most helpful. Resort, tbough old, was quiet and comfortable. Location was excellent for the beach and eateries, and easy access to local transport
- Sarah (10/5): - Wonderful location, beautifully decorated, clean and welcoming staff
- Tammy (9/5): Beautiful resort - we definitely will be back! - The resort is beautiful. It has stunning plants and flowers all around and is right on the beach. The pool area is right in the middle of the resort and set beautifully among palm trees. The staff is very nice and will do anything for you. The location is great as it's close to small shops and the night market. You can hire snorkel gear and reef shoes for free as well as kayaks and stand up paddle boards. We loved it! Nothing!
- Sam (10/5): Beautiful 🏝 - Amazing location, the beach was perfect and right by the pool was win win restaurant next door was more than close enough staff were amazing we loved our stay 💖 That we had to leave 😢
- Lesley (10/5): - Great location. Walking distance restaurants cafes and night market
- Fiona (10/5): Soul-filling - The staff!! Made our stay feel like home I loved everything
- Mark (9/5): Loved Rarotonga and the Muri beach resort was perfect for us.. it was everything we hoped it would b - Fantastic resort for families and kids.. perfect location and great value for money with the nautilus breakfast next door.. def come again Nothing
- Peter (10/5): - Great location by beach. Amazing and helpful staff. Will definitely be returning in the future.
- Kerrie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Lovely staff, especially Panji. Great room, awesome pool, lovely gardens. We would definitely stay here again.
- Helen (7/5): Good - Pool ,bbq àrea, beds all great Ants in kitchen, no chopping board..
Group of teenagers that hung around bbq area each afternoon. ( not guests)
- Bill (8/5): Very good - It was handy to the market and some of the shops.Having grandchildren with us using the pool every day. Nothing that I can recall
- Andy (9/5): Nice location to explore from - The pool was great, refreshing and choice of shade or no shade. Room was nice and spacious. Nice outdoor sheltered. The bathroom could have had a fan or more ventilation to make it fresher.
- Sarah (10/5): - We had such a wonderful stay, welcoming, great location. Would defiantly go back
- Julie (9/5): Great place! - Proximity to the beach and numerous restaurants. The nearby lagoon was safe and calm for water sports. Villa was large and comfortable. The wifi ended up being expensive and not always reliable. On one occasion water was turned off without us being aware. Not so good in the middle of a shower!!!
- Fraser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tak (6/5): Love Rarotonga, such a nice, chilled place - Location is great. On the lagoon, close to the markets and a gas station with a convenience store out the front.
For families it’s one of the easier resorts to stay at on the island The sister property which is advertised as shared facilities had unfriendly and rude staff. We were treated terribly by them, so much so that we made not return to either resort.
Also the rooms have degraded significantly over the past few years. This was our third visit since 2019 and the rooms/furniture haven’t been replaced or even maintained very well over that time.
- Wendy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lauren (9/5): Superb - Muri Beach is a great location on the island! We were there for a wedding with a few other guests staying in hotels nearby which made catch ups easy. The resort itself is lovely, it's the sister resort of Nautilus so we used the same restaurant facilities as Nautilus guests. The staff were lovely at both locations. It was a little frustrating when we couldn't simply charge our room sometimes (which is what we were told we could do upon checkin). It seemed to work sometimes and other times it wasn't possible. Not a big deal though! The hotel wifi was quite average, it was almost 'per session' so if you logged on and then stopped using it for a bit it would switch off again. When you're not at the hotel there was no roaming on the island. I would suggest purchasing a vodaphone esim online if you plan to do some work online or want to be able to contact people while you're there.
- Linda (7/5): Very chilled. - The staff were very helpful. The pool. Liked that there was a washing machine we could use. Liked outdoor patio and the landscaping. Very pretty. Good to have access to the Nautilus facilities. Some of the linen didn't look that clean, but then again, I've never understood why hotels use white! Furniture could be more comfortable. It was a bit of a pain having to ask for replenishment of teabags so often. Shower was very small, but bathroom itself was a good size.
- Catherine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Cecilia (8/5): Would recommend for large families. - Plantation house is great for a large family. Kids loved the private pool, and the bunk bed. Lots of space in the living room for the adults in the evening. A little further from the Muri Beach Resort. Will definitely need to hire a car if you have small children and grandparents.
- Noelene (9/5): Superb - Loved our 2 bedroom unit which accommodated ourselves and my sister. It was well equipped so we were able to self cater when we wanted to. Loved the proximity and access to restaurant and spa facilities at The Nautilus. Excellent location in Muri Beach. Loved the setting of the units amongst the tropical gardens.
- Patricia (2/5): Thought we could have been refunded for 2x nights accommodation as I needled to return urgently to N - Manager not attempting to make contact with ne I had
a serious accident and had to return home urgently
- Chris (8/5): Very enjoyable in a great location - Location is perfect. Staff very friendly and obliging. This was the second time we have stayed at this resort. Some aspects of the units are looking a little run down and in need of some upgrading. Decor is perhaps a little dated.
- Rae (4/5): Disappointing, not just our accommodation but the island in general, - Breakfast not included not applicable The antiquated lounge suite with pieces of wood under the cushions was so very uncomfortable to relax on at night. Cushions looked like they have never been replaced or washed. Curtains were merely pieces of material hanging from the pelmets, blinds on windows opaque and broken in most rooms. Bathroom needs to be scrubbed, just so grimy looking.
We stayed for 2 weeks in 2019 and loved this place, sadly wouldn't choose here next time.
Definitely expected better for the cost.
- Tom (8/5): - Ok
- Keith (9/5): Excellent. - Everything, it was great. Really nice staff and facility. Nothing
- Stuart (8/5): Great Muri Location - We stayed here pre COVID and I think the property has been neglected a bit since then. Still an awesome location and good sized villas but the bed was uncomfortable and the queen seemed small. Very quiet and family friendly and great being able to go next door to the Nautilus for dinner and Spa
- Joanne (8/5): Relaxing and stunning vista. - Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and serviced regularly. Books available in office were good for the rainy days. Tv not really watchable - maybe a dvd player and movies for the rainy days.
- Fiona (6/5): lovely spot. would stay again if we could be assured we would get the room and services we asked for! - The gardens were lovely, the location perfect, and the quiet nature of the resort was just heavenly Our room was not as advertised. We booked a “villa with lagoon views” but got an “apartment with garden view” which was dark and not what was pictured at all. They acknowledged that there were inconsistencies so gave us free breakfasts for the week which we accepted but sort of regretted that as the room was just so far from what was pictured and described. But still, we had a lovely time. I do recommend this place if you want a quiet place instead of a resort playing music all the time, just talk to the resort first so you are totally clear about what room you are booking. It was also not clear to us when booking that the room would not be serviced but they didn’t do anything to compensate this. I thought the booking.com info was incorrect about this topic but I wasn’t 100% sure, so be careful when you book.
- Ian (8/5): We as a family had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. - The location was really great. There were many cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. The family enjoyed using the kayaks and other water gear. The staff at Muri Beach Resort were very professional and helpful. The grounds around the resort were kept very tidy. We were always greeted with a friendly kiaorana. We had booked 2 two-bedroom villas and 1 one-bedroom villa and when we arrived we discovered we were in 3 apartments. Two had two bedrooms but the other had a bed in the lounge, not a bedroom as we originally thought. The apartments were showing signs of wear and tear and would benefit from a complete upgrade. However all of the family enjoyed their holiday.
- Michael (8/5): - Muri Beach is one of the most beautiful parts of the island, and this resort is walking distance from a lot of places (Captain Tamas, convenient store, market etc as well as other resorts). Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Only 2 comments/suggestions:
1) Swimming pool needs to be lit up at night, it's very dark and dangerous.
2) Our beds were really soft, old and uncomfortable (springs hurt)
- Blair (7/5): Tidy enough for two families with teens. Short walk to night markets and beach for food and swims. Pool is great. Suited - It was very spacious and lots of seating areas for two families with teens. Two great bathrooms and good kitchen. Nice pool. The welcome breakfast food in the fridge was a nice and unexpected touch. Scooter hire close by. A lot of bug spray - thank you. And mosquito coils. So good. The wasps. We spent a lot of time killing them and destroying nests. The house is a little tired and could do with a thorough clean. Dishwashwer is faulty. Rang it in but no one came.
