Guest Reviews
- Hector (8/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Had a pleasant evening with comfortable room and a lovely breakfast in the morning. - Lovely setting with nice rooms and good restaurant.
Very pleasant
- Kelly (9/5): - Beautiful room, clean and very, very comfortable. Staff were helpful and answered all my questions. Would definitely stay again. Very minor suggestions - the WiFi in the room didn't work. This was not ideal as I need to work. Whilst I was told the WiFi works in the pub, I needed the privacy for calls. Would also suggest a sign for guests to put in the door if they do not wish to have the cleaning service.
- Den (10/5): Smashing plae
To stay - Great stay the pub is lovely with loads of room and the village is cute.
All staff were amazing and the local beer was outstanding also the best breakfast I have had in a long time . Nothing
- Roy (1/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Loved the place, staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, but not over the top! - Everything Nothing
- Claudia (9/5): - Le cadre et l’emplacement Certains plats étaient très réussis et savoureux, tandis que d’autres, comme le poisson, manquaient de goût, assez fade.
- Claudia (9/5): -
- Marion Wold (9/5): Heel erg genoten.
- Neil (10/5): Really enjoyable stay. - Lovely old inn with red brick and tiled floors. Spotlessly clean room. Really helpful staff who went the extra mile. Good food. Excellent value for money.
- Gillian (9/5): Beautiful place to stay, good value - Beautiful places in lovely countryside. Room comfortable Quite noisy from other rooms and people outside in garden
- Iain (9/5): lovely country inn - lovely room.
in a lovely old building.
dinner and breakfast both good.
staff friendly and professional bar was a bit understaffed that afternoon / evening
- Ian (10/5): -
- Wietse (9/5): Mooi verblijf met vriendelijk personeel, iedereen doet zijn best om het naar jouw zin te maken. - Ontbijt was perfect, er kon een keuze gemaakt worden en alles was goed geregeld Alles was goed.

- zoe (10/5): - Great place to stay. Lovely room with lots of space. Pub was really nice with good dinner and lots of choice at breakfast. Nothing was too much for the staff. Would highly recommend staying here. Hot water was on and off but it is an old building so to be expected and warned in the welcome pack so no problem.
- Keith (8/5): Great stay for the price with exceptional breakfast. - The standard of decoration was lovely and exceptionally clean. Loved the rural location. Lack of soundproofing in the room. E has someone above us and heard all their movements, toilet activities and snoring through the night.
- Cheryl (10/5): A real gem - Great attentive staff. Wonderful, clean, spacious room. Excellent food. N/A
- Peter (10/5): Perfect - Easy access, warm welcome Nothing
- Robert (8/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Very lovely stay and breakfast - Very comfortable bed, large bathroom, amazing breakfast, friendly staff, easy close public parking, a lovely deep bath plenty of hot water, good bathroom products. Very picky. but would have enjoyed a larger TV with more options, only terrestrial channels. A reading light would be appreciated as the bedside lamps didn't give adequate light for comfortable reading. Difficulty with both bath and sink plugs, got stuck and took a long time to get out, but didn't want to bother the staff as I managed it and anyway I would have had to get dressed if someone was to come to my room 😆 but a lovely stay and I would return.
- Mark (4/5): Nice pub and room but let down badly by the poor service! - Room good size and clean The stay was let down by the very poor service. I stay in lots of hotels and pubs this was the worst for service
- Susan (9/5): - Clean room, comfortable bed. Friendly staff good food. Surprised that hair dryer not supplied. As there was shampoo and conditioner, I assumed a hair dryer would be available. I did ask a member of staff and was told that indeed not supplied.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Great rooms and top notch food! Staff lovely. - Lovely hotel, restaurant and bar. Relaxing vibe even though it was busy.
- Ian (9/5): Lovely old pub, very tastefully refurbished with excellent facilities and food - Lovely homely feel, tastefully furnished, in vibrant village centre. Staff very helpful, excellent room and facilities and very good food. Nothing!
- Emma-Clare (6/5): Nice to get away, comfy room but am underwhelm - The staff, especially Rory (helpful & superbly drole) Pretty village but with a faint a humm of the nearby motorway Most of the dining is in an orangery bit which more of a conservatory - more IKEA than rustic charm of an old pub. Was expecting a culvert delight but supper was pub fair.
- christine (7/5): - The room is separate from the inn which is nice and private with your own entrance, the bathroom is lovely and spacious and well appointed. The property was clean and tidy. The food is priced on the higher side but is very good. Breakfast was also lovely with our dog being allowed in the restaurant with us which is rare so we enjoyed that. one of the reasons we chose this inn was because it is advertised it has a electric charging point for the car and when we checked in we were told it is not there anymore and has been taken out. The outside patio area does not have any lights so when you are taking the dog out to the area you cannot see anything.
- Ashley (10/5): - Lots of character, lovely location and super attentive staff Nothing
- Rachel (10/5): - Great food, friendly staff
- Coralie (10/5): Tout était parfait! -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay. Wish we were staying longer. - The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice.
Loved the location. Very pretty village.
- Paula (9/5): Lovely location. Nice interior, especially the dining room. Bedroom was spacious. - Room was spacious. Bathroom clean. Breakfast very good. Checked in just before 10pm on the evening of our first night and this wasn’t a problem for the staff on duty that evening. Pillows too soft.
More explanation of the food options at breakfast would have been helpful.
- Mark (9/5): - Staff very friendly and the food was wonderful especially the salmon and steak. 🏆
- Mike (8/5): -
- Simon (9/5): Will be going back - Position

- Kirby (9/5): Fabulous way to spend Christmas Eve and start our Christmas Day. - Gorgeous looking property both inside and out. Nicely decorated for Christmas.
Fabulous breakfast included in room price.
Comfy bed. We struggled to get the shower at the right temperature but realise it is an old property.
- Fiona (9/5): Lovely all round. Food was incredible - Room and food Nothing
- Judith (8/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Once you try, you will be hooked. - Beautiful property and such great service. Peter gave us some advice for wine pairing again, which was perfect. We love to stay here. Easy for Newbury and into Berkshire. The chefs are brilliant and the menu has something for everyone. This is our favourite place to stay in the area. Thanks again for making us so welcome .

- Chantal (8/5): Would return and recommend - Located in a beautiful village. Property has parking close by and is located in the heart of the village, close to the village shop and other independent businesses. The property is well maintained and the rooms nicely decorated and equipped. The restaurant, food and quality were excellent. The staff professional and friendly.
- Tim (10/5): Excellent, comfortable and relaxing - Lovely country village location. Quiet. Country trail walks. Amazing staff who sincerely wanted you to enjoy your stay and went out of their way to accommodate. Great food. Lovely garden. Was planning 3 day stayed and then added 2 more days. - Paul (6/5): A good stop over hotel/ restaurant that could be a whole lot better - It’s a great place to relax and not feel like you are in a faceless corporate hotel
Nice toiletries in room , parking easy Felt rather odd In bedroom with neighbouring properties staring in. Small details in bedroom missing ( no regular tea, lights not all working, fan provided was very noisy so didn’t use it on a hot night
Dinner Service in the restaurant was at best perfunctory. Breakfast was good!
- Matt (10/5): Perfect overnight stay, we felt very welcome, and in a lovely quiet village location. - The pub was in a great location in a quiet village, within about 10 minutes of the M4, so perfect for an overnight stay on a long journey. The staff were very welcoming, and the food in the restaurant was lovely. Would happily stay here again.
- Wingfield (10/5): Perfect stay - Really lovely spacious room with little garden area. Great bathroom with double sink, bath and separate shower. Lovely pub garden and restaurant.
- Lucy (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was great, we also had a lovely dinner at the pub on one night of our stay and enjoyed drinks in the garden.
- Gabrielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (7/5): Good - Food was great service was great No Aircon 🥵
- Chloe (10/5): Great for a brief overnight stay after a concert nearby. - Lovely feel. Clean bedrooms with really good size bathrooms. Excellent shower pressure. Grateful they provided fans. Nothing
- Steven (8/5): Lovely place, great restaurant. Good place to 8se as a base. - Breakfast was lovely, all locally sourced.
Evening meal was also very good
Room was OK for size, bathroom was big with bath and shower. No curtains though, it needs a blind at least. Blind in bathroom.
- George (8/5): Very good - Location good , rooms very comfortable and clean. Dinner and drinks pricy.
- Chris (9/5): A delightful country inn with a very good restaurant. - Very friendly, helpful staff.
Excellent food
- Mick (8/5): Friendly staff great food and a comfortable clean room - Very clean and tidy
- Mark (9/5): Nice room (including a garden for the dog), great food and great staff -
- Angela (7/5): Upmarket pub in lovely village - Yattendon is a beautiful village. Good breakfast menu included in room price Food very expensive. Mistakes with breakfast orders both mornings
- Wright (9/5): Ideal place to stay for local wedding. - Breakfast was excellent.
Good Old Boy local real ale was excellent.
Beautiful village
Excellent shop and cafe opposite Decoration a little sad and a long hair in the sink. Windows not clean.
- Jane (10/5): Comfortable, pretty garden area, lovely and clean hotel throughout - Friendly staff, lovely room and surroundings. Food was excellent. We liked everything
- Sophie (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (8/5): Lovely country break with great food to match. - Gorgeous country inn. Large room with everything we needed. A room at the back would probably be better as the roads through the village are very noisy at night. We asked for a non slip bath mat for the over bath shower but none are provided.
- Wanbun (8/5): Very good - Restaurant Check out time can be 12:00
- Philip (10/5): An absolute must in Berkshire. Staff, rooms and restaurant all first class. - Such friendly staff. A warm welcome and excellent service. Dinner was delicious and the waiters did a great job. Thank you for the wine pairing advice, perfect.
The property is so interesting with gorgeous artwork everywhere. Breakfast choices were so tasty and with a really lovely hostess
We really enjoyed our stay and have booked for a return visit Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Phil (9/5): Lovely village, great place to stay. - Staff, Breakfast
- Sally (10/5): Loved walking around the village, our room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. - Our room was great, lots of space & comfortable. Shower was a challenge at first but we eventually worked it out!
- Martin (9/5): Very agreeable; highly recommended - Very comfortable and clean.
Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Bath and shower a bit “budget” which rather detracted from the comfort and style of everything else.
- Ana (8/5): Very good - Clean, comfy, spacious room with a view of the village. Nice, big bathroom with amazing water pressure. Bright and airy restaurant serving creative and fantastic food, not just the usual pub menu, and there’s also a stone pizza oven. Dinner was phenomenal! Service was friendly. The village is very cute and easily accessible. The whole place (restaurant and rooms) was dog friendly too! Very loud party in a reception area directly downstairs with no soundproofing in the room. No prior warning that there would be a birthday party the night of our stay, and just outside our door and down some stairs. Thankfully the revellers were sent away at 11pm.
Management was not apologetic about the situation but did give us a discount on the room which was appreciated.
I don’t think I would stay there again due to the noise but I would definitely go again for dinner.
- Craig (8/5): Very good - Evening Meal was very good, bar staff were friendly Shower controls failed to work on the morning of my departure
