Guest Reviews
- Lea (10/5): Wonderful experience & would recommend it. - Staff, food, and accommodation all good. When the evenings are cold to have more out door heaters when eating & light the fire pit earlier for ambience & to sit around.
- Stephen (8/5): Expensive but really good - Staying at the wildness lodge was expensive but it allowed us to have 2 days in the park without driving out. we left our caravan at the bungle bungle van park on the highway. It would be harrowing to do it all in one day the road is appalling. Cannot think of anything
- Kate (9/5): -
- Karina (9/5): -
- Vicki (9/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): Amazing Experience - An amazing experience. Staff were exceptional. Food was delicious. It wasn't my usual 5 star accommodation however, I absolutely loved it.
- Gerhard (4/5): - Totally overpriced for what you get.
- Leah (10/5): -
- Eric (8/5): - Le site est très bien situé
Le petit-dejeuner et le repas du soir étaient bons L’emplacement de notre tente, au milieu du site, n’était pas très agréable
- Maree (7/5): -
- jkroon (9/5): Highly recommended - Excellent facilities, very friendly staff, high quality service
- Beatrice (10/5): Would stay their again, we had a great time - The staff is amazing, very caring and friendly. Bearing in mind it is a bush retreat all was excellent. I was surprised at the lovely and tasty diners. I have some food allergies and I got delicious food.
Breakfast was very good, the bed was comfortable. The temperature went down at night and it was only 5 degrees. In the tent it was very cold. We did not take enough warm cloth with us, our fault.
We got hot coffee in the morning and they put the heaters on which was great.
- Brian (10/5): - Fabulous tents
Great meal areas
Excellent staff -
- Kathryn (10/5): An oasis in a spectacular landscape - Wonderful atmosphere position and staff. The food was outstanding. We had a wonderful time Nothing to not like
- Mark (8/5): The park is absolutely amazing and overall this accommodation was good. - There was a good range of Brekky options - however the bbq they used to cook eggs seemed to be the slowest in the world. It clearly wasn’t functioning properly so it took ages to serve people.
Loved that they put out multiple plungers of fresh coffee at breakfast. And that they had an urn with access to tea and instant coffee (with milk in fridge) 24/7
Dinner was amazing - chefs did a great job. Highlights for us were the home-made sourdough bread and the kangaroo fillet entree, which was very tender and tasty.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Loved all the bird song around us. The tents had fly screens but the floor boards had gaps certainly big enough for insects to enter. They did provide sprays (repellant and killer spray) but would make more sense just to line the floors.
There was a sewage smell in parts of the grounds.
Our bathroom area also had a smell like cat’s urine coming up through the floor - we guess from animals underneath.
- Anna (6/5): Not value for money - Good location Pervasive persistent sewage smell around the main deck area and a lot of the camp. Lack of 240V in the room.
- Terence (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (7/5): A pricey but beautiful stay in peaceful, isolated wilderness - We booked their last available tent, which was a "standard" tent - that meant 2 single beds not a double. Very peaceful place, staff were friendly. Dinner & breakfast provided were good. Be warned there is no 240v power in the accommodation - everyone has to bring their phone chargers etc to Reception/Dining and hope there is a plug available. Lots of flies but ample fly spray and repellent available.
- Murray (9/5): We really enjoyed this experience. - Breakfast was okay. End of season - limited food offerings
- Bruce (8/5): Fabulous accommodation in the middle of nowhere - We stayed in an ensuited glamping tent with breakfast and dinner supplied. Staff were lovely and very happy to assist when required. The meals were very good. Considering you are miles from anywhere, catering for visitors would not be an easy thing and we were happy with everything that was provided. The hot water in the shower was not reliable but who cares - we were in an amazing place !
- anne claire (6/5): - The place is fine. Excellent dinner provided and good beds and bathroom.
But, no fans are provided in the tents and during the time we were there it was extremely hot. On the whole it is very very expensive for what it is. We would have expected a pool for the price paid and a a fan... The Savannah Lodge has all this.
Breakfast is available up to 7am only...
- John (2/5): Otherwise, good. - First impressions are important.
Very rude and aggressive French female at check in has left a lasting very bad impression!
Also, preferential service given to groups leaves a bad taste.
- Karen (10/5): Amazing Landscape - Friendly helpful staff, breakfast buffet extensive, and dinner menu exceptional.
Perfect location to explore the Bungle Bungles. Definitely 4WD track to Lodge.
- Robyn (9/5): Superb -
- Dorothy (9/5): Superb -
- Family-d (5/5): Half as good for twice the price - Service was excellent. Food was very good. Location was perfect for the Bungle Bungles. There was wifi (albeit a little patchy). Tents were poor - smelly, cold, limited headroom, limited space, and no hot water (even if you let it run for 5 minutes). Very limited facilities. For the high price you would expect a lot better.
- Christy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marg (10/5): Amazing experience. - Well thought out set up
Staff were caring and attentive especially Rodney and Charlotte We find the heat difficult and you usually come back in the heat of the day from walking .
There was no cooling with the exception of one pedistal fan in the restaurant . We fell ill and on saw 4 hrs of the bungles and spent the rest of the 3 days in the tent . So missed our bucket list experience , of note the staff we beyond to assist us .
- Gail (9/5): The definition of glamping in a rugged environment - The food was exceptional; the ensuite was lovely; the bed was comfortable; loved the little balcony; staff were friendly and helpful A little cold; no phone charging in the tent
- Taryn (10/5): Lovely amenities & service, matched by the spectacular landscape - The staff were really friendly & helpful plus the evening meals were particularly excellent - delicious and substantial after a day of hiking.
- Judy (8/5): - The food was First Class. Appreciated the seemless way the stay managed dietary requirements. Since a lot of individual travellers are carrying car fridges it would be Great to have access to a power point. Thanks to all the friendly Staff who made our stay so lovely.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff. All sites accessible in less than an hour drive. Great breakfast and amazing dinner.
- Hatturo (7/5): A great overall experience - Breakfast was good, location great The road in & no real coffee
- Belinda (10/5): Must stay, worth the drive. - Everything Nothing
- mICHAEL (8/5): - Very cold at night in July (3 to 4 degrees) with no heating in the tents. Meals at night were fantastic and a good breakfast served in the morning. Nice quiet location, good base to explore the Bungle Bungles. Staff and service were very good.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Very special place. We loved it. - The gorgeous tents, the amazing food, lovely place and staff. I'm not sure if you could book family tents - we had to get two which made it quite expensive.
- Helen (9/5): Wilderness Oasis. - A little oasis in an amazing location. The staff were pleasant , especially Fenne who made us feel welcomed. The food was delicious and the chefs catered for my allergies with another amazing meal. The hot shower was beautiful. I was surprised the rooms weren’t serviced.
- Natasha (9/5): Superb -
- Noelene (10/5): Exceptional - The wilderness, the beauty the dinner & friendly staff made our stay perfect.
- Marcelle (9/5): Very comfortable and excellent staff and dinners were superb. - Broken chair on verandah of tent
- Debra (7/5): Good - Beautiful area. The fees are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
- Peter (2/5): Good location. Meals OK. Total lack of services and dirty accommodation - Good locations. Meal OK. Total lack of services and dirty accommodation
- Garry (5/5): We checked out a day early as 2 nights freezing was enough. - Not the best place on a cold night, freezing.
- Ian (5/5): Great Evening meals, but froze in accommodation at night - Location near Purnululu was excellent, but would be nice if the Tents also had a nice view
Evening Meals we absolutely the best
Staff were lovely and friendly
Lots of Hot water to warm up with after cold night This location has cold nights for most of the season, and given dining and tents were open air, we froze at night.
Internet performance was dreadful, very slow and high latency given that a lot better options are now available'
The WiFi kept disconnecting, requiring you to reconnect
Despite a large (28kw) new Solar array, they still ran a generator for power during the day
Breakfast was ordinary in choice, but adequate quantity (except last day when rationing was imposed for cooked items
- Danny (9/5): If you make the effort to visit the Bungle Bungles - You need to stay in this Accommodation. - I liked the glamping style of the accommodation and the restaurant attached to accommodation. The tents were well presented and beds and pillows you could melt into. Staying at the accommodation, meals are included and are not an option to exclude - you wouldn't want to. Staff were ever helpful and engaging. It may sound odd, but the location. Whilst it is the closest glamping site to the Bungle Bungles, there is no range view so to speak off from the accommodation area. It seemed a bit odd, although it was a lovely setting in the wilderness, nevertheless.
- Audrey (9/5): Comfortable stay in the wilderness - Excellent safari tent, delicious 3 courses meals, hot showers, smiling friendly staff. Special shout out to Delfys for her customer service skills and Arno, the smiling guy behind the bar! No facility to charge our phones in our tent, only at the main building
- Lloyd (10/5): - The staff were excellent. Tents were clean and tidy and very comfortable. There could have been a small table on the deck with the chairs. Three coarse meals were perfect. Loved this property.
- Gareth (8/5): Comfortable, friendly stay - Comfy beds, good food, great staff, peaceful environment and good company from other travelers. Mosquitos! The gaps in the tent (around zips and floor boards) concerned us at first, but thankfully the mosquitoes stayed outside.
- Rhonda (6/5): Expensive so would only stay once - Excellent Nothing
- Kaye (10/5): Amazing experience - Everything!! food and staff very well trained and location peaceful very comfortable accommodation & well spaced out We were day one of the season so later in year as in june& July be lovely & cool Nothing!! road in a bit hairy some drivers a bit erratic
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet, excellent meals, stunning location. Ensuite in tent is so convenient ! Nothing
- Evelyn (8/5): - Dinner was great. All in all, a good concept.
It would be nice to have a cooled place to escape the heat (39°-41°). It was definitely too hot to stay in the tent during the day and also in the dining area it was too warm.
- Ann (8/5): Elegant beautiful tent with excellent shower and attentive staff. Would stay again - Great to have elegant comfortable accommodation in the middle of no where
- Lyndel (9/5): Superb -
- Lina (8/5): Very good - Great location.
Good food for breakfast and dinner. No power point to charge phones inside tent. Have to charge at restaurant common area.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): - Great service, personal attention and lively facilities. Dinner was brilliant too
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Rennae (8/5): nice - got everything we neec. good menu for dinner. clean very cold wind from yhe uncovet timer floor.
- Peter (10/5): probably the best part of our trip - met all expectations and staff we excellent could not find a fault with our stay
- Guy (9/5): Superb - great place
fantastic tent
nice facilities
brilliant location….if you can get there….Road terrible
but worth it for the bungle bungles
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - The drive in!!
- Watson (10/5): Fantastic and an amazing place. - Everything was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food amazing, the glamping tents were great, and the feel of the resort was so welcoming. We loved our stay. Couldn't find any faults
- Marilyn (9/5): Superb -
- Geoff (8/5): Very good - Location to Bungle Bungles was great
Staff helpful and friendly Dinner wasn't very good with cold vegs and tough steak.
Entree and dessert were nice.
For the $600 cost per night, it wasn't very good value for money
- Lynette (9/5): lovely spot in a great location - the showers were amazing nothing at all
- Lucinda (5/5): Passable - Staff were very helpful and the place was clean. Photos were not very accurate. We had been expecting a view, the food was average to say the least - dinner was inadequate for adults taking exercise ie hiking and breakfast was ok but nothing high end. We left feeling it was overpriced - had we been paying less I think we would have been ok about the above $640 just too much for what was provided.
- Stefan (8/5): Very good - It's really a good place to go. Tents including shower and toilet were superb! The included dinner was, let's say, a bit below expectations.
- Claire (5/5): beautiful location and friendly staff - great location. considering it was so expensive and included dinner, we thought the food would be amazing. it was extremely average (dinner) The bathrooms need cleaning properly. toilet should be acid washed. very smelly. a fan in bedroom would be a great addition as it is very hot
- Rob (7/5): A Fabulous Location and a Wilderness Experience worth the trip so far. - The location and the meals supplied as part of the package were very good The staff were friendly and attentive. Bungle Bungles National park is what we went there for, not so much the accomodation. The Eco Tents get far too hot with no fans provided to cool things down. The insects were annoying and could have had an electric bug zapper outside. Breakfasts started too late for the early risers hence people do miss out if they are up for sunrise. Be warned, it is a long rough 4WD only road with numerous creek crossing to contend with. The Bungle Bungles are truely worth the trip though.
- Katherine (9/5): luxury in the desert - perfect location to access the Bungles- short drive to southern walks and close to airfield. incredibly comfortable bed, hot showers. we stayed 2 nights- the dinner on one of the nights was suboptimal (lentil soup!).
- Leanne (8/5): Very good -
- Ron (10/5): An unforgettable experience - Very clean given the dusty surroundings. N/A
- Shannon (10/5): absolutely wonderful! staff were engaging and couldn’t do enough to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable! food w - in the bush, close to the bungles and sunset viewing spots, beautiful bird life mozzies! apt provided sprays including natural options, we brought in our own mozzie coils, the tents have no power outlets or fans so we brought in our own 12v option for the hot afternoons/ balmy nights-the tents do have overhead and bedside lights- the dining area had overhead fans and comfy chairs to relax in and wifi - i couldn’t make a clear call but messages and emails were slow but fine
- Ian (9/5): Superb - The tents with their ensuite facilities are very comfortable. Plenty of blankets were supplied to cope with the very cold nights. Excellent food and a lunch pack provided on request. A great place to stay.
- Cassandra (10/5): Amazing experience - Everything was absolutely amazing! Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and the walks are definitely a 10 outta 10 experience. How cold it was lol. Definitely not the parks fault just cold in the mornings
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely location, very comfortable tent, pleasant dining area, good meals, very helpful staff.
- Laurence (9/5): Superb -
- Frampton (4/5): - Travelled around west oz for a month and this was the only poor stay. For a higher end “wilderness lodge”, their service level was poor. They told me that Apple phones couldn’t log on to the WiFi network. but later I got it working. When I wanted a coke in the morning, I was told the “bar” didn’t open until 3 (and that was the rule). You would think that at 40 degrees, they might have a small battery/hand operated portable fan. You also could smell the septic/waste system. The effort at dinner was good, but “gourmet” doesn’t mean good. Several of the staff couldn’t speak English proficiently. The area around the tents isn’t that picturesque. This place really caters to their tour groups who are in and out pretty quickly. As an a private party, I would give this place a miss. They have some tough obstacles to overcome being so isolated, but their service attitude could be greatly improved.
- Michael (9/5): Great experience would go at a cooler time of the year - Tents excellent, staff helpful, food good. Heat, no air con or fan. Understand end of season but so hot.
- Detta (7/5): Enjoyed our stay overall, my husband is not a fussy eater, so he enjoyed the food. - The staff were very good and friendly. I don't like to eat fish or red meat, it isn't an allergy so I didn't list it, thinking there would be at least 2 choices for dinner. Only 1 choice, half of the 6 guests at my table didn't eat the beef cheeks on the first night, so we ate the veggies. On the second night it was fish, I asked if I could at least get a Vegemite sandwich because I was hungry. They then brought me a chunk of rare beef with veggies. I didn't want to complain again, but couldn't eat the meat with the blood dripping out, so I had veggies again. I would have welcomed chicken or the meat being well done, but I wasn't asked for my preference at all. I think I would have appreciated the Vegemite sandwich.
We came back to the resort in the hottest part of the day, hoping to sit in the bar area and have a couple of cold drinks. No staff to be found. Apparently, they don't staff the bar after breakfast until dinner time.
Apart from the actual choices in service, the resort itself is lovely, and the staff are excellent, just a poor business model when opening to independent travellers not attached to a coach. Lack of choices in food and no-one around for a possible lunch snack or drink.
- James (8/5): it was good - location lack of staff, restaurant and bar facilities from after breakfast till 3 pm
- Philippe (10/5): perfect - breakfast buffet excellent. very friendly staff. excellent food . quiet and peaceful.
clean and comfortable. I highly recommend
- Graeme (3/5): Disappointing, not recommended. - location was stunning; concept good. it is incorrect to describe this facility as ‘Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge’. it is an APT facility servicing APT tours. self guided travellers are treated as an inconvenience. Referred to as ‘independents’, and if you don’t fit in to the tour schedule, you are told that you will miss out. This occurred with Sunday morning breakfast, “if you are not here by 7:30am you will miss out”. Given the premium cost this attitude is unreasonable.
The evening meal was reminiscent of a boarding school and the quality was to match. Again, given the premium cost, unacceptable.
The shower rose was also broken, but to be fair, these things occur from time to time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The whole experience was amazing staff went above and beyond to make the stay perfect even when it came to catering for our picky child.
Would highly recommend staying
- Claire (10/5): Excellent - Excellent location to explore Purnululu National Park. Food is excellent. Thomas is an absolute treasure.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Over priced accommodation and unattractive - I could not believe the unattractive first impression of the hotel/accommodation. I can appreciate the opportunity this place looks to offer however the novelty of a tent wears thin when the temperature reaches 0 degrees. The grounds are a poor attempt at expensive accommodation with dusty paths, long dead grass and dead trees. Getting to the location is over corrugated roads. Probably to be expected but be prepared for a 60klm drive of an hour that will test any vehicle.
- PAYET (4/5): Super séjour au cœur du Kimberley - Accueil excellent et très professionnel pour un site remarquable
Équipe dynamique et très efficace
Cuisine excellente
- Anita (10/5): Great outback experience - The safari style tent accommodation was excellent as was the food. The lodge staff were very friendly and helpful. I especially loved the peaceful surroundings and all the bird sounds.
- Rowan (8/5): Glamping in the Wilderness - Very good glamping in isolated area, 4wd access only. Go the larger luxury tents.Food good. Staff are its biggest asset
- UH (8/5): Schönes Clamping-Zelt. - Echtes Erlebnis im Comfort-Zelt, guter Service und gutes Essen.
- Verified traveler (2/5): GREAT LOCATION - BUT RIPPED OFF ON ACCOMMODATION - Supreme location and great glam-tents, but the service was horrible. They overcharged for the tent (providing a lower grade tent, rather than the Superior) and totally refused to refund .. would not even reply to emails
Although staff on the ground tried to assist, they had no authority to refund - and their bosses just would not co-operate .. even THEY were frustrated
BE SURE TO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR coz you'll NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK
- Verified traveler (2/5): TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE - TERRIBLE !! .. we phoned TWICE confirming a late check in; however this was never passed on to the staff. When we arrived they were angry with us for arriving late, complaining it was their bed time. Additionally, they provided a DOWN GRADE but still charged us for the full amount and refused to refund. I'm still wrestling them with this
On the up side, the food was excellent and location supreme
- Allan and Vicky (10/5): The best place in the Kimberly - Absolutely loved our time here. Everything was better than we could have imagined. Special thank you to Natalie and Lachie. Gets chilly at night. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Luxury camping experience - The overall experience was good but as the temperature at night was dropping close to 0 degrees the tents were not sufficiently isolated and three blankets (all what was provided) was not enough to have a comfortable sleep.
I understand it is a camping experience but, also considering the price of the accommodation, the tents should be kept warmer in the cold winter nights.
- Sally (10/5): -
Very peaceful and very relaxing
