Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (10/5): Lovely beach, lovely pool - This guest house is steps away from gorgeous Mount Lavinia Beach. The rooms are well maintained, and so is the pool. The staff are extremely friendly and graciously accommodated my short-notice stay. I'll return the next time I need a place to crash in Mount.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - l.m old custmer .so l like very much ‼
- Judith (8/5): Great location for budget price - First trip to Sri Lanka great location and helpful staff.
- Aniruddh (8/5): - it is suitable for couple, and nearest of beach, this hotel has privet beach and swimming pool, but there is one problem of WiFi, WIFI provides in only lobby not at room, and there is no service phone in rooms,so there is some problem.
- Indran (8/5): Family Friendly - Friendly staff. Good value
- Verified traveler (6/5): 3 nights at Ranveli - What you see is what you get! On the plus side, the staff are very friendly, good breakfast, it's very near the beach, and it's very cheap. On the minus side, the room needed serious renovation, and it's right by the railway line, so very noisy at times.
- Kerrie (8/5): Close to beach - We stayed for 7 nights. The staff were amazing and helpful. Meals were good and filling. Breakfast was always served fresh and hot. The beds were comfortable for a good nights sleep and the hotel is within walking distance to the train station.
- clarence (8/5): i am pleased i booked this resort - ranveli security was good, very friendly staff
need to improve on food/breakfast
- Ban Thong (6/5): Hotel not clean but staffs in general is helpful! - The first night was horrendous as aircon was not working, there were lots of hair in the toilet, the level of cleanliness seems misplaced. But overall the breakfast staffs and staffs around the compound were friendly and helpful.
- Damodar (8/5): Good hospitality - It is refreshing to visit beach in the morning hours
- Mitzi (2/5): Back street on dirt road by railroad tracks. - The breakfast was pitiful. The cook was unable to prepare a fried egg. Orange juice was actually Tang and they have extra charge for everything, including water. My cup was dirty and the staff member got upset when I asked him to change it. The A/C leaked, towel was rough and didn't smell clean. There is no internet in the rooms. The water pressure is very low and sometimes there is no hot water. The hotel is located at the end of a dirt road, just before the railroad tracks. Depending on the room, the sound of train going by is unbearable, especially if you are a light sleeper.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No sheets, no pillow cases, no blankets. The bathroom was not clean and not adequate. They turn the AC off when they come to clean
- Almas (6/5): memorable stay - memorable stay
- Charlotte (8/5): Perfect getaway - A lovely place to stay where the staff are very friendly.
- Dee (4/5): - Half of rooms are old and really need painting and replastering. Curtains really old and room furniture's seen better days. TV reception awful. You cross railway line to get to beach 30 seconds - watch fishermen pull in their nets :-) Breakfast was fruit only and I asked if I could have the Sri Lankan rice which others were eating. No madam... you must order 24 hrs before! Really? Not ideal for solo travellers perhaps. If you are in new section you may have windows that close but take mosquito net if not. I won't be going back. Sorry :-( DB
- Layla Barber (6/5): Hidden dissapointments - We booked this hotel online as part of a holiday package. On first look it appeared to be nice and very good for the money.
Once we arrived however it was a different story. The rooms are basic but ok, the windows do not shut properly and if this was a cold country you would have drafts coming in 24/7.
The shower was ridiculous, It would have been quicker to go outside when it was raining.
What you don't see on the hotels website is that there is a big derelict building overlooking the hotels pool, very unsightly.
There is also a railway line directly out the back and its very busy morning and evening, which was very noisy as they sound the horns to alert people that its coming as there is a foot path crossing right out the back of the hotel.
The train passengers can see over the hotel wall, we had many a time where they were watching us in the pool and waving.
The staff overall are very accommodating and the rooms for the price are ok, however the area is not nice, don't be fooled by the beach location, the beach is full of rubbish and litter, If you want a nice beach location you really need to go further down south.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Close to beach but a busy railwayline in between - The owner is cooperative but he needs to a close eye on his staff as there is a lot of deficiency in cleaness, maintenance and some time rude behavior of the staff at time.
- Priyantha (4/5): Our stay at Ranweli - Below average hotel. It lacks basic conveniences (no soap tray in the shower cubicle and had a hard time in getting water to the toilet water tank). Though I booked the hotel for 2 nights, we stayed for one night only. Should only be choose if you are on a budget.
- Ammar (4/5): Need some serious maintenance - I had to change rooms twice during my one night stay at Ranveli resort. The ACs in the rooms are not working, the bathroom fittings are loose, doors not close properly, lots of insects and spider webs around. They need some good maintenance management in the resort to handle these sort of things.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Life in hale - Hotel is not suitable for even one star. Its real dump with insect in room, stain in bedding, no working air conditioning and toilet plumbing leaking in room. Problem to resolve in five minute take two hours. Staff are cleaning one minute and serving food next without any hygiene standard.
