Guest Reviews
- Penelope (10/5): Great stay! - Very cute accommodation. Clean and comfortable
- Isac (7/5): Great location for exploring Edinburgh! - Stunning exterior building. We entered through the main door of the church and our apartment was located by the next door greeting you. Great location. Spacious rooms. Great information on how to access the apartment. Everything was clean and tidy on arrival.
Kitchen had most things we needed. Deposit came back after a few days of the last stay. Overall a great stay if you're going to explore Edinburgh. It was very cold on and off. We couldn't figure out how to turn the heat up properly. We tried turing the radiators up but after a while they went cold once again. The valve on one radiator seemed to be lose which might have been the reason for it going cold again. Luckily there were great blankets!
A broken spotlight or two are in need of fixing in the kitchen. The bathroom floor seemed water damaged in a corner next to the towel heater. The upper part of the dishwasher was broken so it fell out most of the time when filling up with dirty dishes.
We couldn't connect to the WIFI using the pin-code given to us through the guest portal. We tried copy pasting it without any results. We solved it by going to the router to the right of the TV and scanning the QR-code with our phones cameras. It worked seamless after that.
We did not at any point contact the host about these issues! We solved it to the extent of our own ability.

- Rebecca (9/5): Great unique place to stay - Location was brilliant, close to amenities and station. Had everything you'd need for a short or long stay Nothing major, the front door was a little difficult but we got the hang of it. Also not a downside just make sure you use their online system, something I hadn't dealt with before and I got a bit confused when I hadn't heard from them. So just keep an eye on that and not the website you booked through (they'll send a link when you book then keep track through that)
- Charline (10/5): -
- Robin (9/5): -
- Alyssa (9/5): - good
- Manraj (9/5): N/a - It's not breakfast, just bedrooms' but not parking it's clean place & close to city thanks N/a
- LUIS (9/5): -
- Darryn (9/5): Very comfortable and warm. Great location, close to trams, trains. - Very spacious, ground floor no stairs. Lack of kitchen items for cooking, cooktop lighter not working, no chopping board, exhaust fan in bathroom not working.
- Lynn (7/5): Clean, neat with good location. - Neat and clean rooms and spaces. Great location in relation to the centre of town. The oven racks were lopsided because there was no proper support. So whatever we put in the oven was slanting downwards. No lighter for the gas hob so couldn't use it. Only one bin liner. No instructions for the use of the dishwasher so couldn't use it.
- Zen (8/5): Value for money apartment. - Good size and nice and warm No complaints.
- Andrii (8/5): -
- Kimsmed (10/5): - God beliggenhed,. Perfekt til 4 personer. Pænt og rent.
- Angela (8/5): -
- Alice (10/5): Perfect location. Lovely apartment - Location is perfect. Lovely apartment. Perfect for what we needed. Nothing. It was exactly what we needed.
- Calum (3/5): -
- Simon (7/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- András (10/5): - Very nicely furnished, spacious, and comfortable accommodation. The area was quiet, we slept well, and it was within walking distance of the city center. Maybe the bed a bit narrow (150 cm), but it was comfortable.
- Jonas (10/5): -
- Debbie (6/5): Great base to explore Edinburgh - Great location & loved the historic building & architecture. Appliances require replacement.
- Anna Sophie (6/5): -
- CARAPUIG GAVALDA (8/5): Apartamento muy confortable y con todo lo necesario - No se podía apagar la luz del baño, y hay algunas lámparas están sin interruptor, es decir, son decorativas.
- Helen (9/5): Beautiful, clean, comfy place in a converted Church, in a quiet area, with great facilities - Lovely, quirky accommodation, in a beautiful building,
Nice and clean, lots of facilities and streaming TV services,
Quiet area not far from Haymarket station and shops
Great host, easy comms, quick and easy to access keys via box nice, big bathroom but shower was difficult to use
Could use a little updating
- Andrea (10/5): - Alles!!!!
- Vijay Ganesh (1/5): Subpar bedding, heating, plumbing and general lack of hospitality. - The location and size of the apartment, and the big sprawling kitchen. I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents, who were visiting Scotland for the first time. What should have been a memorable part of their journey turned into a disheartening and stressful experience due to the unacceptable state of the property and
the dismissive attitude of the host.
On arrival, they discovered that one side of the bed was completely unusable. The mattress had caved in, with the damage concealed under a duvet. As they had arrived late at night, they did their best to manage, only to wake up in pain. When they raised this with the host
the following morning, they were met not with apology or empathy, but with arrogance and blame. The host insisted it must have been caused by them and even threatened to charge them, after a long phone call.
Left with no option but to agree to an inspection, they waited for someone to assess the bed. Only after the inspection confirmed the damage was not caused by them did the host finally accept the issue and agree not to charge them for the repair.
To make matters worse, despite repeated requests for the heating to be turned on remotely — and assurances that it would be — this was never done during their entire stay, leaving them very uncomfortable, especially at night when temperatures were much colder.
The following day, the shower valve in the bathroom failed to close, leaving them once again unable to use basic facilities. A plumber was eventually sent, who confirmed the problem was due to an internally rusted valve.
While the property itself was spacious, the entire stay was overshadowed by poor maintenance and, most importantly, a host who treated guests without the slightest respect or kindness.
For the premium price paid, this experience was nothing short of appalling. I cannot in good conscience recommend this property to anyone, particularly to guests or travellers expecting warmth, professionalism, and basic hospitality.
- fernandez (10/5): Home away from home, comfortable and convenient. - Convenient location, close to everything including the tram. Clean and spacious! No complaints.
- Stephan (9/5): Tolle Unterkunft für eine Städtereise - Aussergewöhnliches Gebäude Badezimmer / Dusche müsste renoviert werden
- Fulvia (1/5): -
- Indrek (8/5): Everything was ok. - The location is close to Haymarket station.
- Cemyilmaz25 (5/5): -
- Christina (6/5): - The appartments location are very good and quiet.
Kitchen is well equipped. Everything is self accomodiation, from toilett paper to tea towel.
You will be provided with a bath towel and dishcloth. If you're more than 2 persons, it's difficult to hang your bath towel to dry.
The doorlock wasn't soo trustworthy, it was very loose and wobbled around.
- Norrie (6/5): Although the apartment needed a few repairs I was still happy to stay there - Location,so quiet lovely building from the outside Property had a good few minor repairs needed
- Mònica (10/5): Excelente apartamento - Buena ubicación, excelente apartamento para pasar unos días en Edinburgh e ir andando a todas partes Muy difícil el aparcamiento si llegas en coche.
- Domingo (8/5): Good and comfortable apartment for families - Spacious and comfortable The location
- Ciara (8/5): Very good - Good size and location Shower difficult to work, and difficulty getting keys to open the main door on arrival
- F (9/5): Excellen location in a busy city - Space and great kitchen area The dishwasher did not work.
The church door was finicky with the key.
- Andreas (3/5): Nie wieder - Anbindung an den Nahverkehr Unfriendly and arrogant staff, no trace of service. For the prepaid bed the bed sheet was missing. Instead of delivering it, the additional costs due were first pointed out, although these were already paid. It was only deposited in the apartment the next day. This is bad service.
Overall very worn out, the exhaust fan does not work in the bathroom, but it runs permanently in the living and dining area. In the bathroom you are constantly in the fog.
Not clean, dust everywhere, floor tiles in the kitchen defective and loose, joints broken out-risk of injury due to sharp edges!
The price is way too high for the mediocre equipment.
- Nada (8/5): We were very happy with the place! - It was hard work to unlock the door- it would have been easier if there was an instruction included to unlock the doors.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Michele (8/5): Really happy our stay and recommend! -
- Sara (5/5): Expensive and theapartment is old and worn. Needs updated. - Easy to collect. Lock old and needs replaced. Had to wiggle & negotiate key to work. Wouldn’t have liked to do that in the dark.
- David (8/5): Good position half way between Murrayfield and the Centre of Edinburgh. Will stay again. - Although the apartment was very clean the corridors were grubby and a little smelly. Once inside all was good.
- Lynn (9/5): A Perfect Quiet Roomy Spot to rest andcthen walk anywhere you want to in Edinburgh. - The location was perfect, walking distance fine to everything. It was nice and quiet and peaceful. The heat worked great, we had quite the roller coaster of weather during our stay. Easy to walk to eating of all types. All appliances worked and it was spic and span clean. Shower had GREAT pressure and hot water. Easy to get in bldg and unit. I had quite the time trying to figure out the washer/dryer in one machine. Some instruction or operator manual would be helpful. The carpet on the stairs is tired and stained. Maybe just tear off carpet and use lvp flooring. Lvp is very economical and is indestructible. You can also be sure you select a non slippery style.
- Thomas (5/5): Somewhat dissapointing. - Exterior of the facility looked appealing and bathrooms were clean and functional. Furnishings were quite cheap and there were no decorations on walls; rather bland. The interior design did not match the exterior in terms of our excitement in staying at an old converted church. Couch and chairs were uncomfortable and windows had cracks in the glass. Front door key required around 5 attempts to open every time we entered. Another guest gave us a tutorial as to how to play with the key to get front door open.
- Daniel (7/5): Good - the people up above was very loud every night.. good luck
- Zibim (10/5): Amaizing Edinburgh - Beatuitful Town with Scotish spirit.
Interesting idea with apartments in church.
Nice and clean apartment with good conection to the airport and to the city centre.
- Daniel (2/5): Quite disappointed with the issues associated with the apartment and management’s approach to dealing with these. - Size of the bedrooms, place was generally clean and location was ok. When we arrived the apartment had a horrible smell as though something had been burnt. There was also issues with the power circuit tripping in the main living area.
Despite notifying management of the issues around the smell there was no response.
Since then management has tried to place the blame of various issues on us, despite the fact that we raised these items as soon as we arrived.
Very disappointing which has left us quite frustrated.
- Gosia (8/5): The property was clean and quite spacious, with good facilities and some charming church features. - We were attending an event in Ediburgh and selected this property mainly because of its location. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the charm of the church features in one of the bedrooms. The double bed was very low and quite uncomfortable to sleep on. It would fold in the middle if one was not careful enough. We also had trouble getting the keys out of the keybox. It took a considerable effort to open the keybox with the given code.
- Maureen (7/5): Due to the location & facilities, I’d stay here again. - An excellent location, and although central, it was very quiet. The flat was well equipped and had everything you needed for your stay. The flat was very cold on arrival and it took nearly 24 hours to warm up. The decor was tired & was in need of a refresh and the sofa bed was small & uncomfortable.
- Mike (8/5): Enjoyable experience, very central and many restaurants and pubs close by. - Location was ideal for us, we dined out locally and went to Murrayfield (The prime reason for our visit). N/A
- Jo (7/5): Was in a good location, just wish the double bed was more comfortable. - The location was good, we were staying for a wedding so it wasn't far to get to the venue. And it was quite, even during 6 nations rugby weekend, with Scotland playing at home.
The bathroom was nice, the shower was had good pressure and could get nice and hot too. Kitchen had plenty of cutlery, plates etc. The sofa wasn't very comfortable to sit on. The double bed was also very uncomfortable along with being very low to the ground. Woke up both mornings with pains in back.
The twin room was very cold, think the radiators need bled because it wasn't putting out much heat.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marinela (10/5): Edinburgh - fairy tale - The studio was cosy, clean ,close to the Center of the city with ancient atmosphere, because of the church ⛪️! I would love to come again!!
Thank you 😊 🙏 💓
- Lelia (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (5/5): Nice former church, so an interesting building. - Nice former church property. Well equipped kitchen and good use of space. Nice features retained and looked really attractive. Many bins outside the property and lots of litter and articles dumped around. The shower didn’t work and was cold in the main shower room. The outside appearance of the building did not look as clean as the pictures on website but that’s not the fault of the property owner as they can’t change the environmental dumping/rubbish issue.
- Inger (10/5): Very nice and practical apartment located in walking distance from city center and close to all public transportation. - Very nice and practical apartment located in walking distance from city center and close to all public transportation. Well equipped kitchen and quiet street. Could recommend this to everyone. Be aware that you need to make a deposit in addition to the rent. I got it back without any hassle.
- Connie (9/5): We enjoyed our stay at the Edinburgh Church apartments very much - renovated in modern style
amazing old church
clean and functional slightly removed from old town area but it’s easy to take a tram
- Alessandra (10/5): Exceptional - The place is so original, and it is very close to the tram stop to go to the center and to the airport. Perfect location!
- Deborah (9/5): A great location away from the hustle of the tourist area. - This is a perfect location if you don’t want to be in the busy part of Edinburgh. Great transport options with train, tram and buses within a 5 minute walk. Loads of restaurants in the area and a small M&S at the train station. Good facilities. Would definitely recommend There was a bit of confusion getting access info due to phone numbers not working as expected but once this was sorted everything else was very good.
- Karin (5/5): Nice, spacious apartment. Clean. Good location. But owner should take a complaint serious and take responsibility. - Good location. Good space. Clean. In one of the 2 bathrooms the hot water in the shower didn’t come out (less than lukewarm dripping), so was not possible to take a shower. When I contacted the owner to have it fixed, because we booked 2 nights, she said she couldn’t do anything and I should use the other bathroom. But I already told her I didn’t want to disturb the couple in the suite bed/bathroom. After Booking contacted them, they answered that that shower worked fine. And that just wasn’t true.
- Holly (9/5): nice stay - great location and beautiful building.
the beds were extremely comfortable too.
there was a nice selection of toiletries too. the hob you had to light with fire as the ignitor button didn't work. The microwave also didn't get hot.
I would say it was uncomfortable to cook in the apartment because of this.
overall for the price the whole apartment was a little run down if not cosy.
- Elle (7/5): Good - It was very spacious with very comfy beds and a great kitchen! It was nice to have a hair dryer and soaps/shampoo provided. The bathroom was very spacious and clean, and the shower was easy to use. We enjoyed the lounge area as the sofa bed was comfortable and homely. It was a bit chilly in bedrooms and quite drafty in the front bedroom. The toilet always needed two flushes, which was a bit inconvenient. The hob was difficult to light as the spark button didn't work and nearly all the lighters were broken. It would probably worth removing the empty lighters as it took us ages to find one in the cupboards that worked!
- Aaron (3/5): Average stay collect key from a box stay then put key back no interaction needed - Not much incredibly average The most expensive stay we had in our entire 4 week uk trip and they still wanted a 400 dollar security deposit for only two nights where as any other place we stayed max was 50
All self serving didn’t even use the upstairs kitchen or sitting area only bedroom and bathroom so I hope to see my money returned
- Pedro (9/5): Superb -
- Amber (10/5): Fabulous accessible accommodation - Loved the style of the property and the comfortable space inside. It was close to transport. Would definitely recommend staying here. Nothing
- Heather (1/5): We were not able to access the apartment. - Our host did not respond to our messaging through Booking, so we could not access the apartment. We had to pay for a last minute hotel, in addition to what we had already paid for this property.
We are from America and did not have access to calling on our cell phones. All off our other bookings, for this trip, have been through Airbnb and the messaging worked seamlessly. Update (8/15/24): We reached out to Customer Service multiple times at Booking to try and get a refund for our stay.
We just learned that the host has refused to offer us a refund, so nothing else can be done, according to Booking Customer Service. We are very disappointed with the handling of this issue. We will use Airbnb for our next travels.
- George (8/5): Very good - Everything we required for a few pleasant nights while at the fringe.
Quite location with good transport links or just walk into town
- Easton (9/5): Superb - Clean, well located quiet and private. We loved the quaint look It had no A/C it hot very warm.
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (10/5): Everything was great! - When I stepped foot into the property, I was beyond impressed. It was very cozy, and had a lot of exposure to sunlight, which made the experience so much more enjoyable. Most importantly, the whole duplex apartment was very clean and the bed was just as comfortable as the ones in Hilton. The apartment is in a great area as there is access to supermarkets such as Lidl, which could be beneficial for any of your urgent shopping needs. What we disliked about the property is that there were no ghosts, which was really disappointing as we were expecting to see at least a few.
- Rachael (7/5): Good -
- Peter (9/5): great place to stay for my son's graduation. Space to gather as extended family for socialising. -
- Catherine (7/5): Good -
- Katerina (7/5): A well-located apartment, although some improvements could be made for a more comfortable stay. - The apartment is located in a peaceful area with a convenient location. It is close to bus, tram, and train stops, making transportation easy. You can also walk to the city center in about 30 minutes. The apartment is clean, and the kitchen is equipped with all the necessary dishes and a dishwasher. The keys were in a lockbox, but there was no indication of which apartment number you needed (it's a residential building with numbers on each door). The instructions provided by the host also didn't include this information. One of the residents had to help us figure out which apartment it was, which was quite strange. The host was reluctant in their responses, and we had to ask repeatedly for each answer.
I slept on the sofa bed on the second floor. The sofa was uncomfortable, and the refrigerator made a constant noise at night, making it difficult to sleep. Additionally, be aware that you'll be charged an extra £25 for the sofa bed linen, and you'll have to make the sofa bed yourself.
- Nora (10/5): Exceptional - Apartment equipped with everything one needs, walking distance to city centre and super easy to reach with public transport from the airport No complaints at all
- Gary (8/5): Very good - It was warm and comfortable and a great location No curtains in the bedroom so was too bright once the sun came up.,which is ok in winter but not great in the summer
- Pamela (10/5): Great place with a nice long walk to Edinburgh Castke. - Beautiful apartment convenient to tram, buses, taxis, restaurants. The apartment was very comfortable and had all the conveniences we needed.
- Jerry (9/5): Superb -
- Gita (10/5): Very good - Good value for money, close to EICC, Edinburgh Castle, shopping mall, restaurants NA
- Julie (8/5): Enjoyable comfortable place to stay. -
- Crofts (9/5): Superb - Loved the area , more real people than the city centre, every eatery we tried was superb
We all got soaked, multiple times, so it was great to have our own space to dry off and regroup, the apartment really helped make our stay work 😁
Looking forward to going back now that we have the lay of the land 🧐 Wouldn't be ideal for anyone driving as area predates cars considerably
Although the flat itself would have been ok for kids , Edinburgh itself doesn't seem to be too child friendly
Edinburgh has a good public transport network, but it's a lot to learn in one go , so we mostly stuck to the trams
- Sinead (7/5): Nice stay for seeing Edinburgh, with hands-off host. - Apartment is well set up and in a great location. The church is beautiful and information for collecting keys was very simple. Perfect for a weeks stay away from the busy CBD/old town. Public bus only 5 min walk away. Information on the booking.com link needs updating. There was no toaster or tumble dryer as listed when we booked. Parking is a tricky so suggest pre-planning. Communication from the owner was minimal. They gave no information on local shops, or public transport, and when we reached out with a question it felt like we were bothering the owner. This is simply compared to other similar stays where the owner went above and beyond to make us comfortable.
- Rowen (5/5): Mediocre apartment in a good location - The location was great, walkable to the centre at a good price The flat had a musky/damp smell. The hot tap in the bathroom sink didn't work, the washing machine was broken which the owner failed to tell us beforehand.
When advertised as parking available on site for £10 a day...this is not true. There is street parking for £5 per hour, max stay 4 hours but good luck getting a space!
- Matthew (10/5): Good stay. - Good location just 2 minutes from haymarket station / pubs / cafes etc and was clean apartment with everything we needed for our stay.
- Rachel (9/5): Superb - Nice apartment around the corner from the station with tram and bus travel easy access
Comfy bed
Ideal for 2 people
- Astrid (7/5): Good - The location, cleanliness and communication with Natalie were all perfect! The mattress on the double bed was extremely hard and therefore very uncomfortable. The single beds were very good though. Also, the lid of the bin in the kitchen did not close so that was quite unhygienic.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Easy to get too, train/bus station close by. Shops within walking distance. The apartment was clean, the kitchen had what we needed. The apartment felt a bit chilly in the evenings but they had blankets to use
- Viorel (9/5): I would love to come back anytime - Very good location, near the Haymarket railway station, public transport takes you to the tourist area in less than 10 minutes. Very clean, and the owner responded promptly to our requests. The apartment is special, arranged in a former bell tower, it is an unmissable experience :) Nothing to complain about. It's true, there are small repairs to be made, coming from the use of the location by "various tourists", but this can be easily overlooked considering the special location...
- Nick (7/5): Good - Great location for the city & local shops and restaurants No toaster !!
- Hajkova (7/5): Good - The flat is spacy, building is attractive, beds and towels great, it was clean, close to railstation and with a lot of eating options around, nice walk to the centre. The flat is a bit shaby now, not enough e.g. forks, blunt knifes, broken tiles in bathroom blocking the door, wobbly chairs and some stains on floor and walls.
- Shona (8/5): Fab apartment in an excellent location - Quirky apartment in a perfect location. 5 minute walk to tram and train services. Situated away from busy road so nice and quiet. Lovely and clean apartment. Hosts very friendly and helpful. There isn’t much to not like about the property, a few areas that could do with a bit of attention, broken tile on the bathroom floor and paint peeling on bathroom ceiling.
- Alex (1/5): DO NOT RENT THIS PLACE!! You will be scammed and screwed over by host. - Nothing -Host was rude, uncooperative about dogs being present (despite the listing being ok with dogs and me notifying the booking.com chat that I will be bringing dogs) FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!!!
-Property had damp/wet towels sitting there for an unknown period of time.
-Proper bedding was not provided or even on the beds
-Host refused to give any refunds despite her lack of preparedness to receive guests. Had to call booking.com to resolve issue (didn’t help at all)
-Host was elusive about pet cleaning fees (never stated a service charge for pets and even attempted to tell me and booking.com that there might be charges ABOVE the service charge fees)
- Janet (8/5): Lovely, clean and smart interior in a secure, attractive building, very conveniently located. - The location was exellent for walking into central Edinburgh or taking the nearby tram from Haymarket station.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
