Guest Reviews
- Lee (10/5): Hidden gem - A hidden gem that the photographs of the interior of the property don’t do justice. Breakfast was excellent and more than enough, I will definitely be booking again.
- Irram (10/5): Can't wait to go back! - As a history geek and a crafter, I immediately fell in love with this place, perched up on a hill, clearly seen from the main road. The current owners Ken and Sarah have lovingly restored the house to its 19th century elegance, whilst maintaining the 16th century Tudor elements. The communal rooms are comfortable, the bedrooms all have a theme, I was in the pretty bird room. Excellent breakfast and there's a great pub 3 miles down the road, The Nag's Head, for dinner. Not far from Newtown, Welshpool or Montgomery, great base for exploring mid-Wales. And Ken and Sarah were so helpful and friendly, always making sure I was ok. Can't wait to go back!
- Bryn (10/5): - I really enjoyed my short stay. The proprietors were very friendly and the hotel situated in a lovely part of Wales.
- Irene (10/5): Exceeded our expectations in every way! - We were wowed from beginning to end. Ken, the proprietor, went above and beyond for us every step of the way. From afternoon tea to homemade breakfasts, the food and service were excellent. Our stay was incredibly clean and comfortable. Will stay here again!
- Janet (10/5): Highly recommend - Woud highly recommend. Clean comfortable room. Great breakfasts.
- Robert (10/5): - Very comfortable and friendly with lovely rooms, great breakfast and delightful setting
- julie (10/5): - Very warm welcome from owners. Nothing was too much for them. Rooms lovely and beds really comfortable. Breakfast was also nice. New knees have been there nine minutes 9 months and are currently updating the property. Would definitely recommend Nd will be going back again.
- Joanne (10/5): - A lovely hotel that offers a very welcoming stay throughout, we were part of a large family group and our needs were catered for with lots of enthusiasm and friendliness. We enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. A good location, it was a pity we could not stay longer.
- IAN (8/5): Nice place for a short mid-Wales trip away - A nice small B&B, not modern or super high class but the right level of period features for the location and price range. The house is quite rural in location, a car needed to travel outside the grounds. Hosts very accommodating and friendly. Wifi is patchy in the bedrooms.
- David (8/5): Would stay again - The welcome was friendly, the décor was a bit dated but the room was nice enough The radio alarm came on at midnight, which wasn't a big issue as I was still up watching TV, but it was a bit annoying, maybe more so because it took me 6 minutes to figure out where the noise was coming from!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely loved staying here, no problems at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stay - Friendly staff welcomed me to this property, and although the entrance smelt a bit musty, the room was comfortable, warm and had everything I needed. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
- Michael (10/5): Give a small business your custom. - A quaint old fashioned B&B excellent for a short stay. Everything was as it should have been. A friendly greeting upon arrival and shown to the room. Clean room and a comfortable bed with a super view in the morning all the way to the Montgomery War Memorial (worth a visit for the vista therefrom but only if you're fit).
This could be a little difficult to find in the dark as signage is minimal. Good level parking. Large residents lounge with a honesty bar.
Overall excellent thank you.
- Steve (10/5): Clean and comfy - A lovely few nights with the family, little ones comfortable and loved the local adventures.
Very clean and great breakfast. Would recommend.
- Sylwester (8/5): Place is ok - It's just ok
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An important Welsh castle just on the doorstep (hidden gem). great food and hospitality, definitely recommend.
- Shelly (10/5): - Friendly host. Good dinners at resonable price. Beautiful setting, terrace and sitting room.
- Susan (10/5): Loved it. - I loved this hotel, great hostess, lovely food, nice room. Great location and easy to find. Wi Fi was not great for me, I was away from home on business and needed a good connection, but adequate for general use. I would definitely stay again.
- Michael (10/5): Lovely - Stopped here for a night as local for a Squash tournament. Just what we needed family room and cracking breakfast in the morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable with welcoming staff/owners. Excelent meals and wonderful service. Situated in a quiet country setting, easy access and parking. Facilities are adequate but tired as one might expect in a beutiful but old building typical of its era. We enjoyed the overnight stay and would recomend this hotel on this basis.
