Guest Reviews
- Lauren (10/5): - Perfect location in chitwan for accessing the national park and river. 10minute walk to the shops and restaurants although we ate at the lodge a few times as this was ideal.
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. They arranged us a walking safari with a very experienced local guide, just me my partner and another guide (i highly recommended this small group/personal option, a lot of the other groups we encountered were larger). They also organised a jeep safari with the same guy whos experience is second to none. Breakfast was included, this was good and they provided us with a sufficient pack up lunch for the safari. Cost of the accommodation and the excursions were excellent. Highly recommend, we would definitely stay here again on our next visit
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful garden area, delicious and inexpensive restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I really enjoyed chatting with Tika who runs the place.
A free Tharu stick dance was performed a couple of times during my stay, which was a nice interesting bonus. Everyone was happy to talk about (and knowledgeable of) local wildlife and where/how to see it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our hotel manager, Tika, was extremely helpful. We were in Sauraha for a conference and he was able to accommodate a colleague of ours at short notice. Hotel arranged a walking tour of Chitwan NP and it was a great experience. Breakfast was provided (eggs, toast, fruit/veg) and staff were attentive. Showers had hot water, fans and mosquito nets. Area is a great location to see a Rhino early morning/late at night!
- Geiske (10/5): Loved it! - We really liked our stay at the Gaia Lodge. The owner is an ornithologist who took us on evening walk, where we spotted many animals thanks to his enthusiasm. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and arranged all our excusions for a good price - and with good guides. A definite recommendation!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - More like a tropical holiday place of the past than the block hotels of today. Serene, god value, charming.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet and great location for me. - Overall hotel was great for me. Outside of town just enough to be quiet but easy walk to whatever you need. Also can enter buffer zone and walk along the river by passing thru elephant corrals just across the street. Food was fine, and good price. There seem to be a variety of rooms with different comforts but hard to tell. I was on the top floor which is great for sitting in balcony and relaxing. Cold here in winter. Some rooms have heat. This website lists lots of amenities that certainly don’t exist at this lodge but didn’t effect my stay.
- anthony (6/5): Decent hotel but 'Deluxe' rooms far from it - We stayed in a Deluxe room - Tiger Den - which was is desperate need of a facelift. The bathroom was falling apart (holes in the bath, toilet leaked when flushed). Bedroom wasn't clean and had a musky smell.
Staff were superb (especially the guy who ran the restaurant - very friendly and helpful). Food was good with large portions.
Location is a bit out of town (5 mins walk) so was nice and quiet.

- leena (6/5): Good room for price - The room was good size.room not cleaned everyday but towels were provided when requested.big size rooms nd bathroom.book safari from outside the hotel..don't ask staff as they will not give any clear information.buy tickets from bus park itself or from outside the hotel as it will be 200 Nepali cheaper.dont order food at the restaurant it takes 2 hours and will get uncooked food ..it's too expensive and if you step out too many eateries outside.
- jennifer (10/5): - Magical place.. Gaida was great!
- Craig (10/5): Extra Service! - Nice, friendly with plenty of extra service! The Lodge driver took us to a good medical clinic when our son needed medical attention. The manager of the Lodge also came to the clinic to make sure our son was okay.
- Dan (8/5): Surely the best value in Chitwan - Apparently to get the best possible experience of Chitwan, it helps to pay a bit more for your hotel. After staying at Gaida, this is certainly not necessary!
A luxurious, air-conditioned room, with great staff who can't do enough for you and can arrange all your activities in a jiffy, means that you don't have to splurge to get that authentic jungle experience. With fantastic and knowledgeable guides working here, as well as a great beer garden and dining facilities, you're guaranteed a fantastic stay.
- Rachel (10/5): Chitwan fun - We were in chitwan for 4 days and found the Gaida lodge to be very pleasant. Arranging excursions was easy, staff was very friendly and knowledgable, and the was cost reasonable. The highlight was going out with Tikka, an expert in ornithology and local wildlife.
The only cons were that food service was a bit scattered and slow and that there was a very loud generator (however that seems to be standard in Nepal).
Overall, our stay was very pleasurable and I would recommend the Gaida lodge to others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great guide for birdwatching - Great stay, Tiki is an amazing guide :)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Whoever rated this an excellent hotel had either low or nonexistent standards. This hotel advertises itself as featuring a slew of amenities that simply do not exist. No hot water, not even tepid water at any point during stay. In order to provide free internet, Must first have Internet, which was available sporadically at best. The power outages were inconsistent, lasting five minutes to twelve hours, resulting in, at most four to five hours of power a night. When the power was on, the A/C did not work. The bedsheets and pillow cases were filthy, the mattress like a slab of concrete, and the dust and filth on every surface was unacceptable. I have been volunteering for three months throughout Asia, and this is the worst place I have stayed at yet, but not the cheapest! The only thing to recommend this place is the menu (with 23% service charge and vat tax per item.) but even that did not make staying here worth it.
significantly, and the color of the stain is yellow. The walls have handprints on them, the table cloth beside my bed is filthy and covered in the rings from past condensation of mugs, cups, and whatever else. I am loath to even operate the light switch or A/C, as the buttons are encrusted over with brown and black dirt. A film of dust overlays the mirror, the curtains are no better. The bedsheets and pillowcases have quite obviously not been washed since the last occupants, or, I dare say, even before them. This is unacceptable in any country!
- MACIEJ (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing - We came to see the wild animals in the national park. As it happens we did not go on any of the trips offered, this was nothing do do with the hotel or the price (very affordable). We just decided to keep it very low key and walk by the river every morning and afternoon and enjoy the Elephant bathing, crocodiles, flocks of birds, deer and this one charming Rhino who came to bathe around sunset every day. The rest of the day was spent relaxing in the hotel and grounds, which were lovely and very comfortable. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night and if we had had the time we would have stayed longer. We plan to return, and when we do we shall most definitely stay here again.
- Ibrahim (10/5): Best quality for very little - This hotel is one of the best hotels i've stayed in.
U get a feeling of the jungle with a natural look and eco friendly environment. It's very simple in a beautiful way. Right infront of elephant stables and close to the canoe dock. With a bike rental shop nearby i used a bike to go all around the city. Staff is very helpful and honest. Definitely my choice for my next visit.
- Stevan (8/5): Nice place - Spent 3 very nice days there. The hotel is new and nice. Easily withstood the 7.9 RS earthquake without any damage. For Nepal, clean and comfortable. The garden is very nice. Many opportunities to relax in the shade of lush vegetation after an interesting day. Extremely helpful staff. Food in the restaurant is good and priced right. No problems with bugs. WIFI works. No power outages. TV works.
Definitely recommend it
- Jerry (10/5): Nice Stay ! - Everything worked out perfectly for us. They unexpectedly picked us up at the bus station (and dropped us at end of stay). Our room was perfect and they arranged a jungle tour for us (which was perfect as well). The waiter (Lovely) was pretty cool and obviously enjoys doing what he does. Everybody was friendly and I'd stay there again for sure.
- Becca and Jules (8/5): A lovely budget place to stay with amazing staff - Our room was just what we needed and the price was excellent and breakfast was even included which we didn't realise when booking. Everyone was very welcoming and on arrival fetched us a complimentary drink. We ended up staying an extra night because we liked it so much. The staff were great, very helpful and not pushy. The waiter, Osso really went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy and really did a great job! On checkout he spent his lunch break helping us find our bus to sanauli. Amazing experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Everything was great.
