Pilar (7/5): Una decepción - La situación y el servicio del personal Las habitaciones de nuestro grupo con mobiliario viejo, desconchados y lo peor, estaban con obras de renovación, en la terraza, no había manera de acceder al mar ya que las escaleras de acceso estaban quitadas. El acceso a la recepción del hotel con una escalera empinada. El horario del desayuno era de 8 a 10, llegamos a las 9 y nos dicen que el zumo y el chocolate se han acabado.

Gebruik van ligbed op het terras van het hotel, voor de plek waar het ontbijt wordt geserveerd, €20 per dag Klein balkon met hoge rand waar je zittend tegen de rand aankijkt.

La chambre où nous étions logés mériterait une remise en état. Accès balcon, volet qui n’ouvre pas + porte fenêtre qui coince, armoire qui ferme mal, idem pour la porte de la salle de bain + bidet qui coule.

Svegliarsi e trovare un panorama del genere è il massimo per chi vuole staccare dalla routine della vita quotidiana. È super consigliato. Un grazie a tutto lo staff e alla titolare che ci hanno accolto e coccolato per l’intero soggiorno.

Debi (7/5): Best location for a dip in the sea - The location is outstanding as it is the only hotel at Castro Marina directly on the shore. The hotel's private lido is great - but 25Euro per day if you opt for a sunlounger - and direct access to the sea is terrific. You can park at the hotel - having reserved and at 15Euro per day - which is really useful. Breakfast is 10Euro each for a buffet. The hotel is very noisy which we think is due to how it's constructed - everything echos, you can hear people talking on their balconies from the other end of the building as well as doors banging, conversations in the corridor etcetc which meant disrupted sleep most nights during our 6 night stay. The breakfast buffet tended to run out of items by 09h30 and not be replaced. The restaurant closed for evening meals from 20 September which we only learned on arrival but there are plenty of local options within walking distance. Life guard provision also stopped on 24 September, but to be fair the season was winding down (and the hotel closes on 30 September for the winter).

Nick Lobé (8/5): Top locatie en prima hotel, maar veel te duur met ook onverwachte extra kosten. - Het hotel heeft een geweldige locatie, direct aan de azuurblauwe zee. Mooi om te snorkelen, maar ook om lekker te zwemmen. Het ontbijt was prima, ruime ontbijtzaal met heel veel keuze uit verse broodjes, yoghurt, veel fruit, goed beleg en ook zoetigheid. Heel vriendelijk personeel ook in de horeca. Speciaal voor ons werd op de.avond van aankomst het restaurant open gehouden. We hebben er heerlijk buiten met uitzicht op zee gegeten. De kamer was goed, bed uitstekend en prima badkamer. Het balkon is klein met een helaas net te hoge muur en er zaten veel muggen, dus daar hebben we niet veel gebruik van gemaakt helaas. Eigenlijk niets behalve de prijs. Het hotel is al erg duur voor de 3☆ accomodatie, maar daar komen ter plaatse nog wat extra kosten bij. Parkeren op hele krappe plekken, €15,-- per dag. En het hotel heeft een eigen strand, maar voor 2 bedjes en een parasol werd €35,-- per dag gerekend. Zo komt er dus € 50,-- per dag bovenop de al (te) stevige kamerprijs. Als je buiten Booking.com om direct bij het hotel boekt zijn deze extra kosten er niet of lager. Het hotel wijst je daar wel op via WhatsApp een paar dagen voor aankomst. Vond ik niet netjes en we hebben daarom ook geen gebruik van dit aanbod gemaakt.

Belen (7/5): Can’t beat an ocean view like that. Parking on hotel wasn’t the best experience. Overall, I’d still recommend this hotel - Location is beautiful just in front of the Castro marina port. Very peaceful and quiet. Breakfast overlooking the sea was great. We paid 2 days of hotel parking arriving at 5pm and we expected we could stay for 2 entire days, or at least until 2 pm. Found out on checkout (10am) that we had to move the car yes or yes which was a bit of a bummer. Parking is super tight too. Might be better to drop your bags and find parking on the street.

vagabonda77 (6/5): - I booked this hotel loving the majority of photos they have online of their rooms. BEWARE…only 5 rooms are renovated and modern suites- the rest of the hotel is very out dated, chipped paint, old furniture, and terrible bathrooms in need of renovation. There is often no staff around for any assistance. Location is great- right on the water but that is it. Town is sweet and not touristy. Small and quaint and a good point to visit neighbouring beaches and towns. A major disappointment if you aren’t in one of the 5 suites. The suites are the only way to go with private balconies overlooking the sea.

BrianS6601 (6/5): A perfect mass tourist hotel - The setting of the hotel is beautiful, with a narrow, east facing strip of rock serving as its private lido, from which you can access the water directly without slicing up the soles of your feet, and where you can sit or lie around all summer like a sardine in a tin. For the price of €220 B&B, I was upgraded to a "suite" on the ground floor which was very spacious and had a rectangular jaccuzzi bath tub in the room itself - meant no doubt for a romantic week-end. The floor of the room is tiled in the most slippery glazed tile imaginable, so one has to be careful not to break one's neck. This plave is the perfect mass tourist hotel for a conventional European beach holiday, either for couples or whole families. It is completely lacking in charm of any sort. The parking "arrangements" are completely arbitrary. There are about 10 bays only and, if you miss one of them, there is simply nowhere else to park on the access road, which may or may not be a one way - I could find no signs or anyone to tell me yes or no. I was lucky to get my reserved hotel bay for €20 per day, but the fancuilla at the reception made it clear that it was really first come, first served. Getting in and out of the lot, minute and on a steep slope, is not for the fainthearted. Breakfast was reasonably good and no one seemed to be there for dinner (nor was I). Castro itself is a pretty town, and the historical centre and ramparts (which require quite a climb from the hotel - unless you want to risk losing your parking bay - and possibly your mind as well) is definitely worth an hour or two's wondering about.

TJ4230 (4/5): Missed opportunity - That cute room on the 1st floor we saw online was definitely not our room. Ours had broken A/Cs, baths that weren't clean, uncomfortable beds and they didn't make the second bed up. When we asked to change rooms they said they were fully booked. They left the reservation book open when they left the property at 9pm and we saw several rooms open. We guessed that they hadn't been cleaned and that they didnt have daily service. When we called the emergency number upon noticing that they never made up our second bed, it was our waitress from dinner that brought the sheet. I get that it wasn't terribly expensive but this hotel has the most prime spot on the water in Castro. They opened, and charged for their beach club, but then didnt send any waitstaff to help those who paid to have a lounge. It was shoulder season granted, but it you are going to charge everyone as if it was mid summer than maybe see if they could use some water, I don't know. They need to do better. Such an opportunity here.

James (10/5): Great location. Unbeatable ocean views - We loved having our cosy upper floor balcony. We didn’t bother going to dinner in restaurants during our stay. We would just sit on the balcony, look at the amazing view and nibbled on prosciutto, cheese and drank wine. Nothing better. Breakfast was very good! The lower private terraces, in the newly renovated superior rooms, were not at all private as we could see everything from above.

H7287IGjob (8/5): Charming small hotel with incredible sea views - The top floor rooms all have a sea view and a balcony. These upstairs rooms are a little dated but we had everything we needed. The access to the sea from the hotel’s private rocks / steps was fantastic. I swam many times in the beautiful turquoise water.

Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Just a couple of disappointments - the balcony had a very high front so when you sat down you couldn’t see the view! The sides were low so very open to neighbours and anyone smoking on their balcony. We had to keep the doors shut at times to keep smoke out of our room.( We were told we couldn’t swap rooms ) Also worth noting that all the balconies were in the shade in the afternoon when we visited in late September.

Staff were accommodating, we were there out of season which was amazing as it was not so busy. We swam everyday in the beautiful water. Charis (2/5): Very poor - A/C was great. Bathroom was fine. Rooms are very basic. A bed and desk only. Rock hard bed, paper thin sheets, flat pillows. Nothing else, including basic coffee makings. Asked for a hot water kettle, since I pack my own instant coffee, not available. It was poorly communicated and confusing the outdoor areas that were/were not part of the hotel. Front desk personnel pointed to a variety of places and said it was included with the hotel. Spoiler alert. The property ends at the wall. EVERYTHING else is extra price. ALL chairs and umbrellas have to be booked and paid for, otherwise, you're down on the rocks to have access to the beach. Couldn't use the balcony because the walls were so high, if you sit at the chair/table, you can't see over. While there is parking (for extra cost), there is no management of the parking lot, so large cars parked awkwardly block out all the others. Knowing Italian hotels are typically basic, I would normally expect minimal and not complain, but not for this price. My local Italian friends were shocked at the price and what I got for it - and not in a good way. They were very polite, but clearly I was ripped off. Being high season, it was just the only thing available close to where my friends were staying.

Excellent location and views with access to beach chairs/beach club. Room was very spacious and quite basic but good value for money. Staff were always helpful. Walking distance to great swimming spots, cafes and restaurants. You walk to the old hill top town in about 20 minutes or take the tourist train for the uphill walk. Pillows on beds need replacing, not very comfortable and very flat.

Wendy (8/5): We had a lovely 8 nights and enjoyed the location and could have stayed longer if we had more time. - The location was excellent, breakfast was varied and there was alot of choice, The staff were really helpful and polite from the restaurant, reception to the cleaning team. The out door balcony was great and provided a great view of the ocean. The shower was too small and the bathroom was cramped. The beds had a lump in the middle . We would have liked an outdoor shower by the sea to rinse off. The tv was very small and no sky channels

Une partie de l'hôtel a été rénovée , nous étions dans une grande chambre avec balcon et vue sur la mer dans l'ancienne partie et c'était parfait ! Les meilleurs resto sont au centre ville (prenez le petit train 3$ euro par personne)

sethneferc (2/5): Pest control - You need to hire better pest control, or simply pay more attention to the cleaning process, because I found a gnarly cockroach the size of a finger crawling around the room and it grossed me out so much… how is this a 4 star hotel if there’s no pest control.
Wanderer07521538983 (10/5): We love Castro - Amazing hotel in a perfect location. You can jump into the sea directly from your lounge chairs. We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top notch and Govani was a perfect host for our morning meal. He has kind and very helpful. We will be back again!!
Joakim (10/5): - Vi har tidigare bott på Roccia när vi besökt Castro och då tyckt att det var läget som var bra. Men nu efter att största delen av hotellet renoverats är hela upplevelsen mycket tillfredsställande. Framförallt vill vi lyfta fram den härliga personalen och framförallt Giovanni som gav oss fin frukost.

Crisp (10/5): Magical views. - Amazing views and fantastic service. The location can't be beat! We were able to reserve a parking spot, which was only 5 euros for the one night, but if we didn't have parking it may have been tricky to get to. But once there it's super easy to walk around town. The shower was incredibly small. I couldn't wash without bumping the faucet/controls. It was OK for one night but just be prepared that it's very compact.

Claire (9/5): A slice of paradise - Excellent location, right by the water with deck chairs for hotel guests free of charge. There are sun loungers but it’s €30. There’s beach towels at reception to use too. The hotel must have had a recent refurb as the paint is all fresh and everything in very good condition. Breakfast was all you’d need - pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, meats and cheese. Fresh juice and coffee too. Great view from balcony. There’s a car park that you can reserve a space which is very handy. Otherwise I think parking could be tricky for the area. The walls seemed thin as we could hear the room next to us - but it’s not a big deal. I think the hotel could offer more I.e there wasn’t any menus but we would have got drinks during the day whilst sunbathing. There was a good menu for the restaurant but there wasn’t anyone else there when we went so that wasn’t very appealing.
Kate (7/5): Room was comfortable and location was good. - Location Every morning there was cat poo in the corridors, fireworks let off at 7.30am in the morning without any notification by the hotel. The shower is also very, very small.

Antonella (8/5): Vacanza piacevole - Ho soggiornato solo per una notte. Esperienza positiva, molto positiva. La ragazza alla reception Giulia, è stata molto gentile nelle operazioni di check-in e di check-out. L'albergo è situato in un posto unico da cui si gode di un panorama mozzafiato dall'alba al tramonto. Tutto sommato l'hotel è un 4 stelle ma un po' datato. Il bagno della mia camera la 201, ha una doccia piuttosto piccola. All'interno della stanza vi è un condizionatore che non può restare acceso la notte in quanto si trova quasi sopra il letto. Le zanzare sono presenti ma l'hotel ha provveduto a dotare ogni stanza con un fornelletto per le zanzare. Quello che però mi ha un po' infastidito è stato il fatto che si può usufruire dell' ombrellone e dei lettini (sulla spiaggia privata dell'hotel) solo nella giornata di arrivo. Io sono arrivata alle 11 e il check-in si può effettuare dopo le 13. Il giorno successivo bisogna lasciare la stanza Entro le 10 e l'ombrellone deve essere pagato se si vuole restare in spiaggia (nonostante la poca affluenza di gente nelle ultime giornate di agosto). Considerato che i clienti si recano nell'hotel per il mare, consiglierei di permettere loro di usufrire dell'ombrellone e lettini, Non necessariamente pagando €30 (Considerato anche che il prezzo per la camera è di €170 a notte). Per il resto L'esperienza è stata positiva, anche la colazione non mi ha deluso quindi grazie al personale di servizio e a chi si dà da fare per offrire un vacanza piacevole.

Eli (2/5): Disappointing stay - hotel should be ashamed - Lovely location, but the story begins and ends there. Our rooms AC was broken and the mattress literally had sags which hit the floor they were so old. There were no windows that opened, so we had to sleep with the front door open. Staff didn’t seem to care and was rude, shrugging their shoulder that we were stuck sleeping in 32/90 degree heat. Sadly, this is a run down hotel that should not be anything near 4 star and happens to have a nice location. Management hasn’t invested in keeping the place up so windows are broken, walls and stairs are cracking and the furniture is breaking. We stay at lots (ie 50+ nights a year) of hotels and rarely write very negative reviews. This place should be skipped!
Kaknas (6/5): Mixed feelings - A hotel not worth its 4 stars. Just pretty simple. The view is super. The room has an ok balcony towards ses and is clean and nice but extremely simple. We love snorkeling and rocks so therefore the "beach" is perfect. But the restaurant is really bad in all ways. Al together, sadly not a place we would like to return to.

Sehr familiäre und angenehme Atmosphäre unter dem Personal sowie gegenüber den Kunden. Aufgestelltes Personal und immer hilfsbereit. Giovanni, unser Kellner und Sonnenschein hat uns mit seiner aufgestellte und professionelle Arbeitsweise, welche er jeden Tag mit einem Lächeln gemeistert hat, Freude und Wohlgefühl vermittelt. The beach club is like a swimming pool made by the sea... colorful floats everywhere the food in the restaurant superb and the staff super nice!

joy (10/5): Very Veey nice boutique hotel on the best location - Extremely recommend this hotel, we were two adults and two children, so they gave us a room on the main floor with a king size bed and a sofa bed, opening the doors and windows directly on the water. No need of swimming pool because you can dive into the crystal clear and cool water of the bay from the hotel deck. Enjoy the best view seating and drinking an aperol spritz!
