- Terence (10/5): Ideal place to stay to explore the area. - The most welcoming staff, from the moment we turned up, till we left. Everyone was so happy to help and even chat in passing. Has to be one of the best experiences we've had at a hotel. When we come back it will be here, very central with everything you need only a few minutes away. We even rented a Tuktuk for a few days to explore the temples and museums, we were able to keep it in their carpark. 5 stars.

- Jose Ramon (10/5): Amazing room and staff, some noise at night - Lovely hotel with amazing staff. It was more than I expected. Front desk helped me get a tuktuk to explore Angkor wat. Lots of food within a 5min walking radius. Only downside is that pub street is also close so my room had some late night noise when going to bed. But I also enjoyed having good cocktails and bars so closeby. The building itself is beautiful so I highly recommene it.

- Rachel (8/5): - First let me say that you will not find a more friendly, helpful and utterly delightful hotel staff. They are terrific. They're charming, endlessly helpful, and genuinely caring. I can't say enough about them. I was there for several weeks and when I left it felt like I was leaving family. The hotel is lovely, as the photos will attest. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. The Golden Butterfly has great character, and the location could not be better. It's within a few blocks of everything that you might want or need in visiting Siem Reap. Right there you have the big central shopping market, Pub Street, the river, and loads of shops and restaurants. There's only one downside (apart from the hot and cold water, which can be a little contrary) and that's the elementary school next door. I love seeing the kids, but they can get pretty loud (I'm not the first person to mention that here). It can get pretty cacophonous during the school day, but, hey, if you're in Siem Reap for the sights, etc., you won't be spending the day in your hotel room, right? I was there to work, so I spent a lot of time in my room, and when the decibel level of the kids' voices became too much for me, the manager very generously upgraded me to a larger, more expensive room on the other side of the building at no extra cost. As I said, you won't find a sweeter, more thoughtful and considerate staff. All things considered,I highly recommend the Golden Butterfly Hotel.

Mr Ly Dan my knowledgeable English guide to Angkor Wat. Very close to ATMs, Pub Street, restaurants. Very affordable too. Highly recommended.

Included bikes are really nice and it's close to the bike paths along the river and to Angkor wat. Pretty old hotel that has been renovated to modern standards. Very clean and comfortable. A bit of noise in the morning from the nearby school but it helps you get up before the day is too hot. Would stay here again.

Bikes to borrow was a nice perk. The only negative comment is the noise. We could hear the night Bar Street most of the night and then the school across the alley started before 7:00 am Monday to Saturday.

When we arrived, the staff sat down with us to explain some basic information about the hotel and surrounding area, and shared a list of common phrases in Khmer. One of the staff, Pong, was so kind, quick to help us get anything we needed and look out for my partner who was sick. They went out of their way to make sure we felt taken care of! The hotel is lovely, has a delicious noodle house across the street and is near a school; however, you can hardly hear the kids from inside the hotel. Would recommend!
- Tyler (6/5): Staff are superheros but can’t fix everything - The staff was among the best I have ever seen at a hotel. They take very good of their customers. However, they cannot fix everything. The noise from the school will wake you up in the morning and the nightclub out back will keep you up till 3 am. Beyond this, there are an insane amount of mosquitos in the room and the water for the shower either burns you or freezes you with no inbetween. Decent for the price but happy to go

My room was spacious and comfortable with a mini fridge, efficient air conditioning, large bed, safe for valuables and smart TV. The washroom had a large walk in shower with good water pressure. The hotel staff were all courteous, professional and English speaking. The in-room wifi reception was good. I highly recommend this hotel to budget travellers who want a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Siem Reap.

The night market is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The staff are kind, welcoming and speak english well. The rooms are clean, the AC worked great and, the bed was comfortable. The hotel is decorated in a charming, traditional Cambodian theme. Amazing experience! I highly recommend staying here. I will stay here again on my next visit to Siem Reap.

- Mark (10/5): - I recently stayed at the Golden Butterfly for six nights. The hotel is very well located in a quiet area but only a few minutes from riverside and pub street. The rooms, while simply appointed, are clean and comfortable. But what really makes this hotel special is the warm welcome and the smiling and friendly service provided by Mr Chen and his whole team.

They're right next to an elementary school where the kids can be pretty loud, might be annoying for a daytime nap. I think they're cute. About a block off a main road, so no street noise but still only about three blocks away from shopping, eating, etc area. Very walkable, plenty of Tuk Tuk if you want. Again.. .you'll never find nicer hosts.

Also since the hotel is very near to the city center, it was very easy to find local toirs, transport, restaurants etc

Had booked a 5 night stay, and only received a clean room service after asking 4 times for cleaning… once in my 5 night stay. Ended trip early to relocate to kampot to visit a friend living there, or may have become worse. Also had no front room reception help when I was facing some banking and cell phone issues.

The staff were welcoming and incredibly helpful including calling a local bus service to help me sort out tickets I bought online. The rooms were lovely, clean, and comfortable. Best hot shower I’ve had in awhile too! The welcome drink and snacks were a nice touch. It is next to a school which can be a bit noisy during the day, but we didn’t mind the sound of children singing :) Would definitely come again!
- Anirudh (10/5): Perfect location - This is a great little hotel at the center of Siem Reap! It is right next to the downtown and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The staff is very friendly and helpful (e.g. calling and confirming activities). The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is from a fixed menu, but there are several options and everything I tried was delicious. The complimentary massage was surprisingly good, and I would have done more if my schedule allowed it. Free snacks, water and airport pickup are also nice perks.

The shower curtain could use some changing and careful to not trip if they cleaned the floors. Other than that, highly recommend this place.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The cute open air lobby in this wonderful old building gave us a great first impression. The check-in, hospitality and orientation was very friendly and helpful. The noise from the neighbouring school yard was distracting at first, but hearing kids playing and laughing gave it a nice family feel. Free coffee, tea and bananas, available anytime, was a nice touch.

- David (10/5): The right mix of personal, charming and modern - I spent just one night here, during a trip to see Angkor Reap. It's a small hotel, with a very personal feel. Excellent help - I arrived early in the day and they were happy to store my bag while I did some more sightseeing. In the moment or two it took me to check in, a fresh drink (some kind of mint tea), was made for me - a cool touch. Apparently, somebody else ran up to the room as I checked in and put fresh flower petals about - again, very nice. The hotel is a very easy walk from the market/night market, tons of restaurants lots of tourist shopping, and a number of Angkor Wat sites. If you haven't already found a car/tuk-tuk, it's easy to get one from here. Nice, traditional lobby. No elevator - rather a traditional darkly finished hardwood staircase. Likewise, the doors were solid wood with old style brass key locks - little stuff I enjoyed. There was wi-fi, which seemed okay. I only used it very briefly. I don't think the TV service offered much, but.. you're in Angkor Wat - hopefully you didn't have TV in mind. Shower had strong, very hot water. Enough electrical outlets - a surge strip was provided, at least in my room, which helped getting everything plugged in for the night. I slept like a stone and woke up refreshed the next morning.

However, there is a problem about drainage problem in the shower room. There are some mosquitoes in the room that can be sprayed before guest check in. Please look int9 these improvement. It is a great hotel with reasonable price.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Descent hotel - Nice stay. The amazing thing is that this hotel is close to pub st etc. Room is good size with balcony. Service is good and staff are nice. Negatives: breakfast is very basic, you pick 1 option from menu and it is as basic as it gets. There is a school closeby so don't expect to get sleep during the day. At night, it is peaceful. Apart from that, descent hotel.

The staff are welcoming and friendly and are ready to assist with any guest requests. The Golden Butterfly Villa represents excellent value and is highly recommended.

- Nikki (10/5): Good Budget Hotel - Located in the centre of town. Very friendly staff. One hours free massage was good. Room was very small but adequate. Our room faced the local school but the noise did not bother us. Free tuk tuk collection from the airport (you must e-mail them to request). We did a one day tour of Angkor which was excellent. Glad we did not pay for 3 days visit. Food in the hotel was nice. You can request breakfast for take away if you are going out early.

- Karen (8/5): Personable service and memorable stay! - The staff were friendly and personable, greeting us with a smile when we were back each time. I wrote in to ask about good bakeries that I could get a cake for birthday celebration, and the manager suggested that the hotel would take care of getting the cake (free of charge! :)) and I just needed to let them know when and how the surprise would take place. This was delivered and promise and it definitely made it a memorable stay. They provide free flow bananas and coffee/tea whole day, and a free 1hr massage. Comfortable room, with free water provided each day in room. Would definitely return for another stay again when I am back in Siem Reap!
