- Kathleen (8/5): - I always find the Forty Winks Inn to be clean and safe and quiet. The owners are very helpful . The only negative things are the rooms smell kind of "old" and they could use new pillows.

- Sherri (10/5): - If you like to remove a dozen decorative pillows before you go to bed each night, this is not the place for you. If you value cleanliness, a comfortable bed, a quiet room in a safe and convenient location, and a wonderfully caring staff all at a really good price, I HIGHLY recommend Forty Winks Inn. I had a prolonged stay at the Inn that needed to be extended day by day due to a family emergency. While I initially booked on line, Lynn (the Inn’s wonderful manager) let me know that they had lower rates for people needing to be close to the nearby hospitals and charged me that for the rest of my stay. Because I was uncertain day-to-day of whether I’d be returning that night, I actually experienced three of the Inn’s rooms and each was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

Forty Winks is going to be our new place to stay when we visit family in Milwaukee. Good location and convenient to everywhere we visited.

The property staff was friendly, but the hotel itself is barebones and the room itself was too bright to get a good night's sleep in (the blinds were too short to cover the entire window). We also found a centipede in our room which wasn't a huge deal as I do know those critters can find their ways into most places. The hotel did not have any sort of breakfast, only coffee or tea in the a.m. Would not return.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms have all what you need - clean, no frills, just a good quiet place to rest our heads.

- Mike (10/5): Retro Space, Retro Service - Forty Winks was built in the mid-eighties and it hasn't changed much... and that's a good thing! If you are a Gen Xer or older this will bring back many memories of our favorite decade. Blonde wood, exposed rock, teal carpet, and linoleum all make for a throwback experience. The front desk service is awesome! Friendly, helpful, and homey to make you feel like you are welcome. Imagine my surprise on getting an actual huge metal key for my room! I haven't seen one of those in a long time. I paraded it like a trophy. The room is clean with a fridge, small TV, great water pressure, comfortable mattress (pillows were on the small side), and rustic-wood looking ceiling. Ice is free from the front desk. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my Apple watch when I left and got a call within 20 minutes that they found it and it will be safe at the front desk. Awesome folks there. Brought back memories of a simpler time.

- tumbleweedchris (8/5): Good Budget Option - Forty Winks is on the outskirts of town if you don't want to be caught up in city center traffic. It is quite near the ballpark, zoo, and Miller Brewery though. It appears to be an older independent motel that is well taken care of. The rooms are larger than average, clean, and comfortable. I will note that the room only had soap provided. They have travel shampoo at the front desk with a price on it, but when we asked, we were given some for free. I'm not sure if we just got lucky and are supposed to charge or what. They also sell water for $1. It comes off as a little nickel and dime kind of feel, but it's not enough to not recommend it. It seemed to be one of the cheaper motels in Milwaukee and is plenty comfortable for a stay of a night or two.

- julie (10/5): - I absolutely loved my stay here. Such a cute inn with a homey feel. Everything was clean and comfortable. Someone was at the door every morning to see if we needed towels, toilet paper, etc, and lots of essentials were available at the front desk (blow dryers, kleenex, etc). Lynne was the absolute sweetest lady and our check in and check out was great. We had great chats both times. She also made a point to remember our names and use them when she saw us, which just adds that extra touch. Area was great too. The zoo and muesum were close by, and i highly recommend mama mias and habenero for dinner nearby! If I'm ever back in Wisconsin, I will definitely be staying here!

Maybe I missed it? Maybe open the breakfast room earlier? Need some way to get coffee before 7am. Otherwise, very good stay.

- Jan (10/5): - We chose this property blindly from an Expedia listing and we could not be happier. The location, the parking, and the cleanliness of the room and property all exceeded our expectations. Then the helpfulness of the staff with some questions we had about the AC was unexpected-genuinely interested in helping us understand how the AC works. I had a medical condition that required that I stay hydrated overnight and said we were going to buy some bottles of water from the vending machine and the next thing we know, Lynn (one of the owners we think) was knocking on our door with 4 bottles of water. It was this type of personalized caring that you just don't see anymore. We highly recommended the Forty Winks Inn and we will be staying there again if we ever find ourselves in Milwaukee again. It is a fun throwback to simpler times when personalized service was the norm.
