They had a new starter that day Kelly , she was so kind and welcoming too I never would have guessed it was her first day! They were flexible with food and drink requests to suit our cultural preferences too. The venue was clean and smelt amazing. All guests loved the venue and their rooms. Breakfast the next day was sublime. All staff were so friendly and Rachel who took over in the evening was amazing, we couldn’t have asked for better and everyone commented on staff friendliness and professionalism. I think what makes Chicheley Hall stand out even more is the exceptional team behind the scenes. Every member of staff is warm, professional and genuinely dedicated to ensuring each couple’s day runs seamlessly. As a celebrant, I love to deliver ceremonies in the grand hall, and always feel fully supported by the team. It is also clear from the feedback i have received that my couples feel the same. I have seen first-hand how thoughtfully the venue caters for each couple, with overall service consistently outstanding. It’s such a joy to work alongside a team that shares the same passion for creating meaningful, memorable celebrations. On a personal note, I’ve also had the pleasure of being a wedding guest at Chicheley Hall on a couple of occasions over the years, and those experiences were just as wonderful. - coreysQ9605ZU (4/5): Potential wedding ? Please read - We held our wedding here in December 2025. The day itself was beautiful, thanks largely to my wife’s relentless pursuit of excellence and attention to detail. The venue is visually stunning, with fantastic curb appeal, and our photographs turned out perfectly. Unfortunately, despite its appearance, the venue is very poorly managed. When we attended our menu tasting, we were informed that the heating was under repair. The house was so cold that we had to return to our car to collect blankets. We were reassured that, as our wedding was still nine months away, the issue would be resolved in plenty of time. The night before the wedding, we asked the manager how long the house typically takes to heat up, as we noticed plug-in storage heaters in the rear rooms. We were then told that the downstairs rooms do not have any heating at all. As a result, our guests were uncomfortably cold throughout the evening, which significantly took the shine off what should have been a special day. While the rooms appear attractive at first glance, on closer inspection they are dated, poorly maintained, and full of imperfections, including ripped curtains and inadequate heating. The overall condition is very poor. The electrical installations also appear substandard, and it is questionable whether they would pass any formal inspection. It was clear that the rooms had not been properly cleaned for some time. Although we were told rooms are cleaned after the previous guests leave and left until the next event, the amount of dust and spider webs present suggested months without proper attention. We had many children attending, yet none of the rooms were prepared with additional beds or travel cots. My mother-in-law had to ask six times for a bed for my daughter, finally receiving it at 1am, by which point she was exhausted after a long day. The staff themselves were friendly and polite, but severely overstretched. Bar and service staff are subcontracted and unfamiliar with the venue. Overnight, over 150 guests were left with just one staff member. The wedding manager left at 5pm and there was no deputy in place. Thankfully, we had hired our own wedding coordinator, who was shocked by the lack of organisation. Without her, the transition between the wedding breakfast and evening guests likely would not have happened at all. Drink prices were not provided in advance. On the night, a single bottle of beer cost £8+, spirits and wine were even more expensive, and we were charged £38 for a bottle of low-quality prosecco. In summary: This is a beautiful venue that produces stunning photographs, but it is let down by poor management, inadequate heating, substandard accommodation, lack of staffing, and overpriced drinks. We later discovered that many of our guests also complained about the cold rooms and poor state of repair. Sadly, this substandard delivery significantly detracted from what was a very expensive and very important day for us.
- beverleysI1260YX (2/5): Rooms not up to standard for a wedding - I feel it necessary to alert people about Chicheley Hall for their wedding venue. My daughter got married here in November and the day itself was lovely, however some of the rooms that we were given were in the most shocking state of disrepair i.e plaster falling off the walls and ceilings, ripped curtains that I just don’t have any words for!! The heating in the rooms not working and replaced with radiators, cobwebs galore, mouldy pillowcases, blocked toilet, limescale galore, wet floor from a leaking radiator to name just a few things!! The deputy manager needs a lesson in customer service and the manager needs to talk to the customers when there is an issue instead of just refusing too. The deputy continued with the same response which was, “ It’s a 300 year old house”, what do you expect!! It doesn’t really matter how old the house is this is basic cleaning requirements and repairs that need to be addressed instead of making excuses, and talking to people with an attitude instead of making it a priority to rectify. Yes it’s a lovely venue with great views but please seriously consider what you feel is an acceptable level of cleanliness for your guests as they are just as much an important part of your special day as you are.
- lisacN8663GS (2/5): Don’t Get Married Here You Will Be Dissapointed - We booked our wedding here and although I cannot fault the day itself the accommodation, that we had paid a large amount for, that family and friends were to stay in was disgusting and a hazard to health. There was mould on pillowcases, dust and cobwebs everywhere, limescale on taps, ripped curtains, a leak on a floor, heating that didn’t work, toilets that didn’t flush and this is just the worst things. On making a complaint to the hotel on the Monday after our wedding we were made out to be liars and it was a 300 year old building what did we expect. We got told we should have complained on the day and also before we left. Well our guests didn’t want to spoil our wedding day and also on check out on Sunday there was no one available and you just left your key on a desk! We have been fighting the hotel for a refund due to our findings and disappointment. You cannot speak to the general manager, he won’t call you back and he won’t give his email address, they will offer you the most pathetic amount possible and then make you wait months to get it sorted. Even when you do accept a pathetic amount they then send the wrong amount and call you a liar. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VENUE!
- Kspeller (8/5): Very pretty venue - We stayed for a wedding in October, some of us stayed in the main house with others in the additional wing. The rooms in the old house are beautiful, it does all seem to be original features so I can see how it could be a bit drafty. We had lovely big room, the door didn't lock but we were ok as the whole building was occupied by people we knew! The venue itself is beautiful, lots of space for wedding guests to mill between different areas while wedding space is being restaged. Very dramatic staircase which is great for an entrance. The food was good, nothing that blew me away, but most wedding food doesn't. Didn't really see much of the staff, just those in the bar (which is a lovely space) and they were very attentive. I would say the bar is very expensive, a gin and tonic for £13 is what I would expect for London prices - Outside space is lovely and plenty of parking - all in all, a very good experience.
- U570NOrebeccac (4/5): Poor service and expensive - Beautiful Manor but the staff were nowhere to be seen. No one checked us in or out. We went for a wedding and the groom gave us our key and we had to just leave it on the desk when we were leaving. The staff were timid and would rush off as soon as they could. There didn't seem to be any direction from those in charge (wherever they were). Only one light worked in the bathroom and two out of four in the bedroom. We only had one bathrobe instead of two. There was no one around to bring the problems to. The food was very hit and miss and did not all match what was on the menu for the wedding dinner. The main dish we had was lovely but the starter and dessert were awful (served cold pre cooked vegetables and promised a warm brownie that was cold). The bar was very expensive; an alcohol free beer and a single gin and cranberry came to £22. It's a beautiful venue but we wouldn't opt to revisit due to the poor service, drinks and food.
- Humpand2 (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS! - Shocking! Filthy, disgusting room. It all looks lovely from outside and in the grounds but once inside …..it needs a massive overhaul and deep clean. We were expecting a quality room with an amazing break to add to our memories and were so disappointed. Our room had brown stuff smeared all over the radiator ( zoom in on the photo ) and one of the toilet rolls ( I don’t even want to think about it ), old cobwebs everywhere ( not fresh ones), in fact one of the cobwebs had a dried up hornet in it, the toilet was cracked completely (very dangerous - could’ve broken at any time ), a light fitting hanging out of the ceiling, dirty carpets, dirty skirting boards, dirty radiators, dirty stained chair, dirty kettle still with the last guests water in it ( I’m pretty sure the last occupant was solo, as we only had one biscuit and spoon to share with our two cups), there was someone else’s hair stuck to the wall in the shower - the list goes on. Extortionate prices for rooms, food and drinks. Nobody to talk to about issues and upon vacating the property - just a sign to say ‘leave room keys on the table’. They don’t care once they’ve had your money. Two other couples were also telling us about their experiences with dirt and grime in their very expensive rooms, along with dangerous lose sockets with exposed wires. Terrible !! Also, bar staff are rude and there’s no bar tariff on show (which I’m pretty sure is a legal requirement). AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

- 373siang (8/5): Gorgeous hotel. Best hotel food ever! - We stayed two nights. One night in the wings and a second night in the Manor House as wedding guests. I read the reviews on the way there and have no idea what the negativity was about. The night in the wing room was lovely and quiet. A cool room with windows that open and a fan and heater in the room too. Everything you needed. Cosy but a hotel room doesn’t need to be massive. The food was incredible. The best I’ve ever had at a hotel. Breakfast both mornings was fresh, topped up and delicious. The wedding food was out of this world. The night in the Manor House was again quiet. A window that opens and an extra fan in the room. None of the issues mentioned were spotted by us. A wonderful hotel with lovely, hard working staff. Would definitely recommend
- philipdT2437QE (4/5): Be prepared for shabby - I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip. Based on the website, I expected luxury. In fact, since I work at a non-profit, I felt embarrassed to be staying somewhere that looked so nice. Not to worry! Turns out in fact it is all quite shabby. The place needs a major major major face lift. Some of the rooms effectively have no wifi. Others the windows don't open (and there is no A/C). The plumbing is seriously underpowered (hold the handle down and PRAY when you flush). And the food is mediocre at best. Reminds me of British food from the 1960s. The setting is lovely.
- astram117 (2/5): Read the reviews carefully before booking anything here - Recently attended an event here and stayed overnight. Warning the rooms are very small and although the cleaners had done a fab job the room was just unbearable, the heating cannot be turned off and the room was like a SAUNA, my partner slept on the floor by the window which only opened a few inches. Food was okay, drinks are extortionate. The grounds and house are absolutely stunning but the hall is let down by so many things. The event we attended started at 3. Coincidentally the same time as checkin. Called ahead to request early checking to be told they can't accommodate. No one was there to check us in and we resorted to finding our own paper and taking the key. No one was there for checkout either. Avoid this place if you want a comfortable, affordable event.

Stunning rooms with plenty of them for everyone to stay. Warm, helpful and friendly staff wanting to make sure you have a great experience. Stunning food with a wide variety plus they were so accommodating with my wife's allergy. We will hopefully be returning soon for either events or afternoon tea!
- SD2006uk (10/5): Family Party - We had a wonderful time at Chicheley Hall, when we had a 40 person family party. The food was excellent and the space was a lovely. The staff were fantastic they really went above and beyond on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly. The relaxed planning beforehand was just right, with suggestions of things we might want to think of and great flexibility as ideas evolved. I'd definitely recommend this venue, you could easily imagine a wedding here but nay large gathering (like our party) would work.

We had the most perfect time and were blessed with wonderful sunshine so we had our drinks reception outside. Tamarin and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating and everything ran smoothly. They thought about all of the finer details which made our day so special. We had lots of comments from our guests about the beautiful venue and the delicious food. Tamarin was always quick to respond to our numerous emails and messages during the build up of our wedding. We cannot fault anything and we highly recommend Chicheley Hall as a wedding venue.
- fozz22018 (10/5): Our Amazing Wedding Venue - We had our wedding at Chicheley Hall on 28 Feb 25 and it was truly the best day of our lives. The day ran seamlessly and the food was absolutely fantastic. Tamarin and her team were brilliant from our enquiry all the way through to breakfast after the wedding day. She was super responsive and nothing was too much hassle. We got married in the Grand Hall, had dinner in the Atrium and went back to the Grand Hall for the evening. The bedrooms are amazing, the whole venue has real character and the gardens are beautiful. And whole day was seamless, ours guests loved it and we would highly recommend Chicheley Hall.

The room was a lovely size, gorgeous period features and outlooked onto the wonderful lawn. Had a lovely stay, only issue was we visited on a warm day and the room was quite warm at night.
- Q2043WQemmaa (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - Our company had a Christmas conference followed by a party at Chicheley Hall in December 2024 and we really couldn't of wished for more. The pricing was very fair for all we received. We had prepaid for exclusive hire of the venue with overnight stays, conference room hire, lunches and a 3 course dinner. The organisation of all staff involved in the planning and execution of the day and night was phenomenal. The food for 30+ people was served in a timely manner and was such great quality. Natasha and the team had been available for all our queries leading up to the event and couldn't do enough to accommodate our requirements. The drinks always flowed and the staff of the evening were always on hand to help. Overall, the experience at Chicheley Hall was seamless, from the planning and preparation through to the stunning meals and flow on the day and evening. Highly recommend and we will definitely be requesting the services of Chicheley Hall again in the near future.

They had no intention of paying me. They simply go broke and start again. Avoid any situation where they owe you money. Insist on payment up front.
- Passport522382 (2/5): 2⭐️ service and facilities - Looks lovely from the outside, shame the facilities and staff are on a diferent level. Had better stay, facilities and customer service in Travel lodge, should have left booking cancelled and gone elsewhere for the Thursday Stayed over a weekend for a conference of 40 people, Friday to Sunday. knowing about this and another event on Thursday I was attending nearby. booked a room for the Thursday night, so I avoided a long journery back home and return drive for conference. This room was booked in Nov 2023 for Oct 2024, i got an email conformation of booking and week before date an email saying to secure booking payment needs to be made. I call the hotel to do this. Day before confirmed booking I get an email saying I haven't responded to any emails, my booking has been cancelled and to call hotel to arrange refund! I called to ask why it has been cancelled and explain that I have responded to emails and made payment, and I am staying for weekend conference at the venue and have no other accomadation arranged. After saying I was only person booked in, they reinstate booking saying I will have to go elsewhere for dinner and breakfast as they are closed. Arrived on the thursday night and settled in for night and weekend conference. Room wasn't the cleanest and had no heating in room despite x2 radiators. The rest of the attendees arrived friday and had the same issue with heating in bedrooms so after numerous complaints were provided with extra duvets and portable heaters on the Saturday. Heating in my room was finally working late afternoon Saturday (3rd night). Conference organiser had informed hotel of dietry requirements prior to arrival, despite this evening meal on friday was an hour late and Saturday half the group couldn't eat the food provided and had to order takeaway. Also we were prohibited from the bar area of the hotel due to another group in there even though some of our bedrooms were accessed from the corrider other end of bar. All of these should not be issues in a 4⭐️ Hotel, both the food and heating issues should never have occured as hotel knew of requirements and booking in advance. The issues and staff response to them means we are looking for another venue for next year

- pamlJ519NU (2/5): First and only visit - I was invited to a wedding party and arrived with high expectations. There is no advance warning of the entrance, and just inside the gates there is a large hump in the road. The estate roads are large pebbles or dirt and very bumpy. There is only one small and dirty indication to the car park, and the only marked disabled parking space is at the far end, yards away from the only access to the building with ramps. The signage needs immediate and considerate improvement. Designated disabled parking should be near the doorway with ramps, and this access for wheelchair or rollator users clearly indicated from the driveway. Management needs to understand just how painful it is to travel the bumpy road way for less able visitors reliant on wheeled personal vehicles. This was my first and will be my only visit to Chicheley Hall as I came away in great pain.

With elegant rooms, attractive gardens to stroll around, and such a warm welcome. The staff are warm and friendly but professional in all they do. We stayed for two nights for a family wedding. Nothing was too much trouble and they made it such a special day for the bride and groom and all their family and friends. Thankyou

It was perfect for a party for 80 people! I hired high bar tables and stools , added balloons and was great ! The bar was set up in an adjoining room and staff were fabulous ! Bar prices are ‘pricey’ no discount was offered. We stayed overnight in the manor house , we had the honeymoon suite ! Beautiful room , very stately ! Needs more lighting tho , getting ready with just beside lamps is not enough ! No dressing table with chair either , but saying that it was lovely . Breakfast is good , mainly buffet which is limited and then had cooked full English was great .

- hannahhJ4095FM (4/5): Disappointing Christmas and communication - We were booked into Chicheley Hall for Christmas dinner along with a large group of our family, who were all staying in the hotel. The surroundings are lovely and it all looked very Christmassy. The food, however, was shocking. The Christmas dinner wasn’t a Christmas dinner at all (no trimmings - it was genuinely just a plate of turkey, potatoes and red cabbage). It was lukewarm and the portions were tiny. My starter was cold and my desert was still frozen. Not what you expect for £100pp. Chicheley hall promised us a partial refund and were apologetic in person and over email. Some of our family members have received their refund, however we have now been ghosted - no one replying to emails or calls. I’ve only given two stars for the pleasant surroundings and wouldn’t have left a negative review had our refund been processed, but it’s now been nearly 2 months of chasing. Really disappointing - the 2 stars are generous.
- Aras74 (10/5): A gem with a gem! - My parter arranged our visit as part of my 50th birthday weekend celebrations and it did not fail to deliver! The building itself is spectacular and the location felt remote, despite being a short drive from Milton Keynes! On arrival, we were greeted by Rose; who was absolutely fantastic. Such a warm welcome, and she showed us to our suite personally. Rose also arranged for us to have private dining in the little library, which felt special and intimate (it made my weekend). She ensured we were comfortable and our needs were met. Never have I received such impeccable service from a hotel, and Rose can solely take the credit on this occasion - she is a credit to Chicheley Hall. The suite itself was spacious and comfortable providing views of the lake and gardens. The tea tray was a little basic but adequate and the decor a little shabby. Having said that, it was still a lovely space and met our needs for the duration of our stay. The quality of the food served at dinner was impeccable and the chef, very talented. Breakfast was comfortable and delicious, even providing gluten free cereal, which was wonderful, as were are both coeliac. Thank you Chicheley Hall and especially Rose!

- cazdenison (2/5): Terrible - OMG the heating was so high, we couldn't open the windows, I asked for the heating to be turned down, as there was no controls on the radiator, in the end we had to sleep with the door open, to get some air, the window would not open as the sash was cut.!! The room was clean, but so small, we was in the really old part of the building, along a long corridor, I felt like I was sleeping where the maids used to be. It was a terrible experience, we both got bit on our legs. I am sorry I would never stay there again, I am so disappointed I was so looking forward to staying the night there as well. We only had breakfast there, which was very nice, the staff was so friendly, I couldn't wait to get out of there.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Proximity to Chester Arms only real positive - I stay here for the proximity to the Chester Arms which is fantastic. It's probably not the staff's fault, as they've not been trained but they're just not welcoming. "How was your stay" is a pretty typical question when checking out, not once have been asked, barely a good morning. The rooms have cobwebs, plenty of lights don't work, the amount of limescale on the shower head was quite incredible. Beds are always comfortable and there is rarely anyone in the bar (including bar staff) so it's good for working. However the prices are not inline with the standard of the hotel - £12 for large glass of terrible wine. If you're going to stay, walk over to the Chester Arms and forget about the hotel!
- Victoria (2/5): Terrible - not suitable for sleep or work - Checked In , ok on surface although took forever and they clearly were not organised. Dropped bag in room and meet some fellow colleagues for a drink in bar. No bar staff. Reception staff came to assist, which was kind considering no one around but she had no idea what a Pinot white wine was , or how to put through till nor actually how to do measure of gin. She would have been better looking for someone to help. We went out for dinner, the restaurant that we had booked as just , well they weren’t organised. After arriving back went to room. Well what I hadn’t noticed was just how much of a slant the whole room was on. I didn’t think an immediate problem just put it down to old building. But then I got into bed, well the bed has had no adjustments made so basically that is also on a slant , so much so that you actually roll. So between felling like you were going to roll of bed and the massive gaps in door frame allowing the light in the hallway which remains in all night - no sleep!! So I thought I’d turn a bad situation to my advantage and just sack of sleep and work ! That apparently is also not an option - no sockets anywhere that are accessible . I reported this first thing in the morning, I was told I’d get s call back. No call. I followed up again told I’d get a call. No call. I called again and was to email . I emailed . No reply , I have followed up twice now still no response other than it’s been passed on . Absolutely unacceptable . Never again
- juliah463 (4/5): Shame - Beautiful looking building and surroundings, but sadly our room must have been in the poor part of the hotel. We had cobwebs galour, dirty blinds and bath mat, cracked floor tiles, hard beds, very used pillows, a barely flushable loo, poor / non working lighting, and was treated like intruders when we went to look around the grounds. Overpriced bar too.
- Z2906YHjohnj (4/5): Sad - Do not be fooled by the beautiful building. The rooms are tiny with prison like windows, there are no ceiling lights just a desk lamp. The showers have no power. The toilets barely flush. Overall a very sad and depressing energy in these rooms.
- ylamidey (10/5): First choice for hosting our events with private dining - We have used Chicheley Hall a number of times for our pitch events and dinners and receive fabulous service. The events team, front of house, chef and kitchen staff are all fabulous. They make us feel welcome, and take the pressure off me as the organiser so I can concentrate on the event and our guests for the evening and make things run smoothly. Adaptations to the menu are no trouble at all for dietary requirements, the food is well cooked and tasty. A great wine list. We hold our event in 2 different parts of Chicheley Hall - the Wolfson Suite for the pitch event and use the atrium for the networking with drinks and then dinner in the private dining room. Our guests love the private dining room and the buzz of conversations is great. Thank you all at Chicheley Hall for looking after us so well. Each time we host our event there we are introducing the venue to some new people who love it. It's a hidden gem that deserves to be simply a gem.

- Priscilla (8/5): - This is a very special place with an interesting history: the house and wings are set in lovely grounds that, to the Hotel's credit, are being very well maintained. It was a return visit for the two of us: we had spent time there when the estate was used by the Royal Society as an out of town Conference venue and meeting place. Lucky to have good weather we were well looked after and very happy to revisit Chicheley.
- Malcolm (10/5): Character and Service - Booking for an overnight stay. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Favourite venue for weddings our stay was on a quieter day so time to appreciate the impressive ambience and history (most recently used during WW2 as a secret training camp for SOE agents). All practical aspects were fine. Free parking adjacent to our room. Check in easy. Double room on first floor big enough, quality bathroom, spotless. No aircon (well it is a Graded listed building) but the fan was OK. Breakfast (extra but good value) was fine. Everyone from reception onwards were really friendly and efficient. This is not a chain hotel but one with its idiosyncrasies/character. We loved it.

I contacted the desk next morning and the repairman was there that afternoon & sorted both items quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Deborah (6/5): Beautiful hotel but has issues - Very limited lighting in room - 1 bedside lamp and 1 floor lamp, so it felt like sitting in a cave. On the first morning, I found the bathroom light did not work. I showered in near darkness. I reported this to reception as I left early in the morning, expecting it to be working on my return inthe evening. It was not. I returned to reception and was offered another room. I was instructed to pack and return to reception, which I did. They struggled to find me another room. I was then told they had managed to get the light working. I returned to my original room. The room was too hot and the window was difficult to access due to the TV and table being in the way. 1 member of staff was so unpleasant to me that another guest asked if I was okay. The member of staff then berated me for complaining. I tried to explain that I wasn't complaining. He completely humiliated me in front of a room full of guests. The building is beautiful, very clean. The food was lovely although I was informed I couldn't have food for two nights of my 5 night stay due to a wedding.

- Kenneth (4/5): MK family visitor - Sitting in the bar in the evening never heard so much noise from the staff moving glasses around. Payed £160 for single room which was a disabled room. ( I’m not disabled ) breakfast not included. First morning no hot water, so cold shower. Spent the day with family and returned to hotel at 8:00. My room had not been cleaned and the bed in the same disarray as in the morning. Complained as was told it was my fault for not putting a sign on my door to clean it. Most hotels have a sign that says do not clean, who looks for a sign that says clean. Second morning another cold shower even after leaving the shower running for 10 minutes. Generally the hotel is tired and in need of a bit of TLC. The only good thing was the setting was good with lots of walks. In my opinion one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, Poor
- Gillian (10/5): - Exceptional property & setting. we stayed in the Grade 1 North Wing so not as good as the main building but room was large enough & had lovely view. On downside beds were quite short, blinds were broken and of course no aircon Breakfast was relatively simple & 2nd day staff were overwhelmed - everything ran out & there were long waits. some items did not get replenished at all. we were offered a free drink at check out as there was recognition this had been a problem overall i would stay again for the beauty of the building & setting

- Stephen (10/5): Would stop there again. - Nice old venue. Well kept extensive grounds. Main reception entrance could do with a re paint. Looked a little unloved. Reception staff friendly and helpful as were all staff we encountered. Room was spacious once we found it. No numbers but names for each room and when your room doesn't have a name outside it is amusing but difficult to find. Other than that a great pleasant place to stay.

No draught beer, and £6 for a bottle of beer was expensive. Moving around of furniture whilst we were eating an evening meal was inconsiderate. The grounds and building are lovely, the experience could have been so much better with little additional cost to the hotel. No bottled water in the room is just a basic fail.

Room didn’t match the grandiose of the building. Overall, an OK stay and reasonable value for money but a bit underwhelming.

Many of the staff appeared to be new and did not have enough experience yet to provide a service good enough to make me want to return. The room I was in (17) had nowhere to hang any clothes, not even a hook on the back of the door. The blind in the bathroom was heavily stained with all manner of substances along with dried dead flies. Overall the room looked nice and a few simple changes would make this hotel a brilliant place to stay.
- C (4/5): Never again avoid - Grand looking hotel on the drive up the driveway but unfortunately that's where it ends Hotel rooms are not in the main building no signs saying where rooms are and once in the room fairy small and pulled the blind down and it fell off and damaged my phone Went to reception took ages and got told no maintenance on site can fix in the morning and did offer to get my phone fixed if i left it with them but couldn't say how long it would take Eventually got the blind sort of fixed (couldnt open it again) after they walked in on my half naked partner couldn't wait till she was dressed and stood all over her underwear Then had the pleasure of a luke warm breakfast with no coffee because staff was so disorganised was glad to actually leave

- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for a one night stay. - It is a very impressive property, an old mansion but well maintained. I didn’t eat there, but everything looked of a high standard. The staff were very professional. The WiFi in my room was very good, and this was important to me. The room was basic, but had a little character. The window hasn’t been cleaned in a while as there were lots of webs and dust. The flush didn’t work in the toilet unless you rev’d it like a motorbike. The shower pressure was also poor. But the room was clean and comfortable. Altogether OK.

- Malcolm (10/5): Perfect for Business Travellers and Events - I arrived late so little to say, check-in is easy, rooms comfortable and wi-fi good. I've stayed here many times as its a good standard and convenient for the location I need. Only minor gripes are not having a proper accessible coffee machine, using sachets at breakfast and the fact that breakfast doesn't open until 7.30am which can be tight.

- David (4/5): Premier Inn better value and cleaner - Book two family rooms next to each other. When we arrived we were told that they were opposite ends of the hotel even though we had called to check. Restaurant and bar were closed due to a weeding taking place at the venue that we hadn’t been advised of prior to arriving. Local pubs tables were fully booked because of the venue restaurant not being available. When we had called the venue we were advised that there was disabled parking at the front of the venue. When we arrived this had all been reserved for the wedding. Room was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned properly. Bathroom still had the previous occupants hairs in the bath and around the sink. Toilet wasn’t clean nor did it flush properly. Blinds in the room were broken. No aircon and windows wouldn’t close properly. Breakfast was ok. They gave us a £20 discount per room but with all of the faults I wouldn’t book here again which is a shame as it looks such a lovely place in the photos

Check in was quick, no mention of breakfast or wifi or checkout, was just given a room key. Would probably do the trick) No ceiling lights in room just x2 lamps, Comfortable, quiet sleep, with great garden views. Breakfast was buffet style £12 adult £6 child and was very nice. (The best part of our stay) This hotel definitely has potential to be amazing if it was given a freshen up.
- Francis (2/5): Very poor and disappointing - The hotel didn’t do house keeping at all during my 3 night stay even though I had asked for it to be done. The bathroom had two badly cracked tiles which were dangerous for bare feet. I told the hotel about that the room was hot so I asked for a fan which I had to go back to reception to collect myself. The hotel was quite sparse inside it looked very sad. Great pity because the building was lovely I spoke to managers and even the operations manager but really nothing was done afraid I wouldn’t stay again or recommend to anyone
- Daren (2/5): Biggest disappointment - Didnt get to stay wrong dates were taken . Family left stranded looking for additional accommodation. Hotel never picked phone up to discuss problem once i made over 65 calls no answer.

- Jill (4/5): Not a great night”s sleep - Room was tiny. There was no bulb in the bedside light, no batteries in the TV remote and no tissues. All resolved except for tissues? I’m not sure how a hotel runs out of such a basic item. The bedroom curtains were made of a heavy satin and had been widened with a different fabric. Sadly this still left them a good 8 inches narrower than the windows. Not conducive to a good night’s sleep. In the plus side, the conferencing facilities met all our needs
- John (8/5): A rusty start - After a period of closedown it was inevitable that the staff should be a little rusty and the service level did definitely improve as the weekend progressed. An example. When I asked the barman for a Margarita he told me they didn’t sell pizza!!!

Bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was good quality. Served straight away, no waiting. Couple of comments not complaints 1 packet of biscuits with in room tea would of been appreciated. Music in breakfast room rather loud, we needed to talk over it. Would definitely stay here again
- Andrew (4/5): Cold, dark and out-dated - Check in went well but quickly went downhill after that. Room, in a separate building, was small and very cold, with poor lighting and worse tv reception. Bathroom was warm but shower was more like a dribble. Booked dinner in the restaurant at check-in, but table was not ready when I arrived. When sat down I was told the waiter would return in a few minutes to take my order, but twenty minutes later, and now very cold, he had not returned despite serving other people. It was not busy but he seemed to forget I was there. Maybe due to it being so dark you could hardly read the menu, which consisted of only 3 main course options and was nothing like the menu shown on the website. Also this had no prices on, so had no idea how much anything was. Finally ordered and got the food, which was average at best. Very small portion of mash potato and almost raw veg, thankfully the sausages and gravy were hot and tasted ok. This helped convince me that the £15 they wanted for breakfast would not be worthwhile! Returned to the small room and realised how small the 'double' bed was. I had to sleep diagonally and still had my feet over the edge of the bed. Not what I expected looking at the website image, and will not be rushing back there again.

- Abigail (10/5): Lovely house, comfortable beds - Our stay was brief but comfortable. The gentleman at the desk when we checked in late was very friendly and helpful. He led us all the way to our room in the South Wing, which is a separate building from the Manor House. The house was beautiful and my husband and I intend to come back for a longer, more romantic (i.e. without my mother) stay in the main house. The decoration of the house itself is a bit sparse, like when you first move into a place, but the bones of the old house are truly beautiful.
- Neil (8/5): Clichley Hall - Had a lovely overnight stay at Chlichley Hall, lovely grand hotel. Lovely meal on the evening, however they were running a reduced menu so not much choice. Bar was very small. Not so good……. The double bed was the smallest I’ve slept in, im only 5ft 5” and my feet were hanging out the bottom! God help you if your over 6ft! Not so good……. I asked for a fan for the room, I’m of a certain age and prone to night sweats! The fan was brought for us, unfortunately it didn’t work and the PAT Test was 10 months out. Good …… breakfast was absolutely delicious!
- Paul (8/5): Lovely period hotel - Lovely period hotel, with a quirky layout. With a few updates it could be stunning, but we had a very comfortable stay in a junior suite, which was a very good size and well appointed with a comfy bed. Staff were accommodating and put us in a room with a bath tub as requested. Only disappointment was that I specifically booked dinner on the night we stayed which was confirmed in writing, however when we arrived we were told there was no dinner service that evening. Thankfully there was a great local pub just a mile away so problem solved, but it could have easily been avoided with better communication between the hotel staff. That small issue aside I would definitely stay again as the hotel setting and rooms are lovely.

The blind on the window was down and broken ( so whoever cleaned the room must have noticed) I rolled it up to get daylight in. The heater in the bath room was on full blast and the dial to change it was broken. I didn’t complain as I know hotels had a hard time and cash for small repairs will be low. The service was great. Very welcoming and friendly. Had the feeling the team likes to work there and look after customers. Nice to see. The dinner was overpriced and the chicken dry. Won’t eat dinner again. However; the breakfast was great full continental and English breakfast. Booked myself in again but this time into a double room. Review to be continued 😄

- Steve (6/5): Nice location - needs more attention to detail - Very nice location and really interesting architecture, however the bed room wasn’t the cleanest (dust & cobwebs) also the bedding smelled a little fusty

- Burger (2/5): Disappointed, overall - The room wasn’t were mentioned at check in Carpets filthy and stained , cracked bathroom tiles And charged for parking which shouldn’t have .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lovely grounds, nice breakfast and breakfast setup (dining in different rooms), large room. Check-in chaotic (assigned wrong room) and initially told I would have to contact Expedia as this was nothing to do with them. Upon reviewing my booking, however, suddenly very apologetic and said that they could rectify it. Felt like they were trying it on with me to see if I would accept something substandard. Wasted a lot of time trying to sort this out. Lady at check-in clearly stressed as the desk understaffed. Rooms looking tired and locks on doors temperamental. Drinks unnecessarily expensive.
