Guest Reviews
- Josue (10/5): - Good customer services.
- James (6/5): - No hot was in room.
- Darin (8/5): - Room was clean and the property is right outside the national park entrance. Within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and breweries in Twentynine Palms.
- Terry (8/5): - Quirky hotel and excellent stay.
- Martha (8/5): - na
- Michelle (8/5): - Very convenient to the base, was in town visiting a family member stationed at the Marine Corps base. Also, very close to Joshua Tree national park. I loved the garage style parking right next to the rooms & large pool. Staff at the hotel was very nice and friendly! I will definitely stay here when I visit 29 Palms again in 2026.
- Petre (10/5): - The reception staff was extraordinary.
The accommodation is good, above expectations, clean pool and the location is very close to Joshua Tree National Park extraordinary.
- John (8/5): Nice, comfy place - Nice place to stay, nicely styled basic motel. By far the best cable-TV system I've seen in a hotel. Suggest printing a listing of the channels and numbers. Never tried pool; found out too late about special access code. We stayed two nights and maid never came to clean or make bed. There was no "maid service" door flag. Would recommend the place to others.
- Nick (10/5): - Nice property
- Quinn (4/5): - Staff was friendly and rooms were equipped with amenities. However, once the sun went down we realized our room was infested with cockroaches. This was due to a gap under the front door. Our stay was during the middle of summer, but this situation could have been easily avoided with proper maintenance of the building. After reading more reviews I realized this was a common experience. It did indeed ruin our stay.
- Luis (10/5): - Great
- Kristen (10/5): - Staff was amazing and very accommodating.
Very Neat and clean.
- Kevin (8/5): - As expected, close to Joshua Tree entrance so all I needed.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Very nice little motel in Twentynine Palms.
- Mingsheng (10/5): - Very nice stay!
- Diana (10/5): - Staff is wonderful
- Jomy (8/5): - Bring your own shampoo. Theirs is no good.
- Fiona (10/5): - Hidden gem!! These casitas have been upgraded and the property was very well kept. Talouna, the gal that assisted us all weekend, was just a super sweet, super kind angel of a lady. Will be back for sure. Thank you, Talouna!!
- Albert (10/5): - Very distinct place and had wonderful experience. Good water pressure. Good size. Just overall very good
- Phillip (10/5): - clean nice room. Excellent pool. We liked the car port ... other than the surface was sandy. Easy to walk to a couple of dinner options ... but don't wait too late as things close early.
- Amy (8/5): - Nice that there are carports in the desert heat. Large room, but missing the little things like conditioner, hairdryer, etc.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great, friendly staff. Rooms are clean.
- Jason (10/5): - The bedding wasn't the greatest but the property and the staff where excellent if you like this type of hotel, you will be happy with the rooms/villas
- Patricia (10/5): - Good value for money . Nice size clean room . Ideally situated to visit Joshua Park . The only downsize is that the air conditioning was very loud .
- Garry (10/5): - I always prefer the Mom and Pop style Motels. Pool was a nice bonus.
- Amanda (8/5): BETTER than expected - Beds were clean and comfy but kinda short. Great water pressure. Awesome pool, deeper than I expected. Only downside was AC only in one room. Connected room had fan. With door open it was fine, but not if you wanted privacy and cool temperature
- Kenneth (10/5): - Older, well-maintained property. Friendly staff, several restaurants within easy walking distance. Motel is not fancy, but is comfortable.
- Ralph (10/5): Very Clean - Clean, quiet, and very affordable. Great location. I would definitely stay here again.
- Richard (10/5): - great place!
- Debra (8/5): - I love the upgrades it’s very cute and having two rooms was nice but there were some little things that brought down its score like a screen missing on the bathroom window, anyone could reach in. I didn’t like the old sponge left on the kitchen counter. Maybe they should leave a clean dish rag and towel, I used a washcloth and hand towel.
The pool is not heated but is beautiful.
The beds were small but clean and comfortable.
- Andrea (10/5): - Very cute and cozy motel. Staff was friendly and helpful! Walking distance or only a couple minute drive to many good and convenient food places!
- Ferris (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay. Had to get use to avoiding contact with noisy metal bed base. The toilet seat in room 125 is oval on a round toilet rim. Not good for men when seated.
- Nathan (10/5): - Friendly staff! Very clean, practical and spacious rooms, for a reasonable price.
- Karen (10/5): - Unusually large pool with nice areas to sit outside. Room has a small kitchen area in another room with everything needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Old motel, tooo expensive. - Dated old motel. Small room with tinniest shower I've seen. Price was too high for an old motel room. Expected it to be upgraded.
- Jennifer (10/5): - It was clean, bed and pillows were comfy. Wonderful value with a great price!!
- Christopher C (8/5): - Reasonably priced. Our room was a little close to the main highway... not a problem unless police were haring by with sirens blaring.
- Mabel (10/5): - Good stay!
- florah1993 (6/5): Do the job. - Correct price/quality ratio: 230$ for 2 nights. Parking place in the front of our unit. Room was clean. However the mattress was very bad. My husband and me (~30 year old) have back pain each morning. Very good location ~15min of Joshua Tree national park entrance. Close to restaurants.
- Tony (8/5): - It was surprising how big the kitchen area was, including a 3/4 size fridge, a stove, a microwave and even a 2-seat eating area, in the room! Parking in front of the door, and the entire staff was very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
- Rachel (10/5): - This place is cute! Compared to the larger chain motels in the area, I would choose to stay at El Rancho Delores every time due to the vibes. For such an affordable stay, the quality of the motel was very impressive!
- Joanne (10/5): - What a gem! Clean,quiet,affordable. GREAT pool!
I cannot say enough about the wonderful lady who runs the place, she was so kind, and made us feel right at home.
- Courtney (10/5): - Close to entry of Joshua Park. 1 minute from Starbucks, Joshua NP Cultural Center, gas stations, restaurants, Rite Aid. Room was spacious - walk in closet, mini kitchen complete with stove, bedroom and bathroom. Clean. Pool was an added bonus. Lounge chairs and table & chairs.
- Kelley (10/5): Nice place - Stayed here to see Joshua tree and had a great time.Everynight we had a cozy room to come back to.The front desk lady is also very nice!
- Patricia (10/5): - Good
- Rosemary (10/5): - Older motel but clean and comfortable.
- roger (10/5): - Very quaint, clean Motel.
- Melissa (10/5): - Always stay here when visiting Joshua Tree National Park
- Jamie (10/5): - Clean rooms. We enjoyed the family suite option with three beds and a small kitchen. The pool is clean, beautiful and nice and cool. The manager was very accommodating. We had to stay in town after check out because of an online work meeting and he let us stay so our kids could play in the pool while we waited. He gave us a place to change afterward. The location is just down the street from the entrance to Joshua tree National Park for easy park entrance. Highly recommend.
- Lynn (10/5): El Rancho Dolores Motel - Friendly check in with help on checking out some of the nearby locations. Front desk came to check on us to see if we needed anything more for the room. Very pleasant.
- Jacnewport (10/5): Would book again - Older motel but clean and tidy. Nice front desk. Bed was comfortable. Great price and location. Plenty of parking. Fridge was loud so I unplugged it. Im going again in Oct, but have to check to see if I can bring my dog this time. Gee whiz I have to write 200 word minimum :-)
- Marcio Augustus (10/5): - Good stay! Safe and friendly staff. Good bang for one’s buck!
- Gordon (10/5): - Comfortable. Need to check the light bulbs though.
- Annie (10/5): - El Rancho Dolores Motel is my hub whenever I am in Twentynine Palms. Their rooms are clean and comfy, parking is right in front of the unit, and the amenities -- fridge, microwave, tv, wiFi -- always work. The swimming pool is great on a hot day and the north entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is minutes away. What really makes a stay at El Rancho Dolores especially comfy, however, is the staff. The owners plus Tulouna and team keep the grounds manicured, the rooms tidy, AND they are quick to help with a request -- extra towels, more coffee (there's a coffeemaker in every room), or early check-in. They help me feel at home in the high desert.
- matt (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! - There was poo left in the toilet and it smelt worse than anything I've ever smelt. Not to mention the pubes in the bed and the thick layer of filth on everything. It obviously hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I left immediately and complained, but the guy at the desk wouldnt give me a refund.
- Nancy (10/5): - We have stayed here 2 times and have had a great stay each time. Comfortable beds and very quiet. Staff is wonderful.
- Russell (8/5): Older but good fir a single night - Older property. Clean and OK. Beds are noisy due to a metal frame that oil pans as you sit on it or move. The staff was friendly and quick. Well located and easy to find.
- Irene (8/5): - nice location and quiet, nice staff
- Hyungjoon (2/5): Only for a Very Short Stay - This place is suitable for a very short stay when visiting Joshua Tree National Park. However, if you have other options, think twice. The bedding was extremely dirty, yet reeked of disinfectant. And don’t expect warm water—because there isn’t any. After staying here, we got sick, which completely ruined the rest of our trip.
- MaryAnn (8/5): Very good. - We had a very good stay. The room was clean. When we got back from our trip to the National Park the room did smell a little musty, it's the desert. We opened the windows for a bit and all was good. The hotel is very close to the entrance to the National Park.
An excellent location to Joshua Tree NP. The hotel room had a kitchenette which was great. Stove, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, and a small bar to eat at. I would stay again.
- Leslie (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Samuel (10/5): - Very clean quiet, great people, and great views. I love Motor Inns like this. Unfortunately, most of them are no longer in good condition. This property was in excellent condition.
Easy walk to the center of town and great views.
- Stacy (8/5): Close to Joshua Tree NP, I'd stay here again! - This is a solid two star hotel. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean, I appreciated that there was no carpeting. Shower had hot water. Heater worked well, which is great because the nights were chilly. This motel is a little worn and shabby, but suited my purposes well. A reasonably priced place to stay after day hiking in Joshua Tree NP. Close to the not-as-busy park entrance in 29 Palms. And walking distance to downtown with good options for dinner, which I appreciated very much. I would stay here again.
- Paul (8/5): - The hot water in room 116 was on the right side and the cold on the left at the bath sink. No hot water in the am either. Washed with cold water. Brrrr. Call a plumber.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Nice place close to then national Park
- Julie (8/5): - The spot is close to the entrance of Joshua and fine for a night stay. I didn’t like that the bed cover was a bit dirty; there were burn holes in the sheets and sand on the covers. There was a bone in the bathroom and the water took forever to get warm.
The staff was friendly though and parking was conveniently in front of the room
- Theresa (8/5): Close to Joshua Tree National Park - We stayed for 1 night while visiting Joshua Tree National Park. It is only 5 miles away. The room
Was very clean, had an updated bathroom a refrigerator with freezer, microwave and small coffee pot. There was a table and chairs which was nice for eating pizza after a long day of travel. The bedspread and curtains were outdated and the room would look much better if they were updated. Overall, for the price we paid, it was a bargain! As long as you aren’t looking for luxury accommodations, it is a fine place to sleep.
- Jan (10/5): - Nice lady at check in. Clean and tidy rooms. Easy parking. Perfect for my needs. My friends are camping but I wanted a motel, and this was very convenient.
- Barbara (10/5): Close to the park! - Received a warm welcome from our host. Our room was great. Perfect for the 3 of us! Three double beds. Room was clean. Kitchenette was great for quick breakfast in the mornings and a refrigerator for our food. Great for going to Joshua treeNP
- Gary (8/5): - Clean, comfortable bed and the wifi worked.
- Jamie (6/5): - Scetchy
- Katrina (10/5): - Very clean and safe, room was spacious and we were comfortable. Great location near several really good restaurants and close to a park entrance.
- Tina (8/5): - Close to Joshua Tree Park entrance. Everything was as listed.
- Linda (10/5): - Great clean motel for our overnight stay. Staff very professional and helpful.
- karl (6/5): - Bottom sheet not fitted so woke up on the mattress. Property dated , but clean and convenient . Price good.
- Daniel (10/5): - The desk clerk was really nice. She was very patient and helped an elderly person who looked like she came off the street. The place had other good features such as location and I was able to pull right up to my room to park.
- Vickie (10/5): - This is an older renovated motel. The owners did a fantastic job renovating it and highly recommend it. It was one of the most comfortable stays we’ve had in quite sometime. Nice large room, large closet, fridge, microwave, super comfortable bed, everything you’d need. It also has a very nice pool area.
- Christopher (8/5): - Very clean and tidy room. Small and efficient space
- CHI CHIEH (4/5): Impolite service - No hot water for showering, and manager question us why we can’t use the showering facilities, the answer is the equipment didn’t work ….
- Emily (10/5): - Super clean and simple design, would absolutely recommend to stay
- JAMES (8/5): Joshua Tree Stay - This was a great place to stay in 29 Palms while enjoying Joshua Tree National Park.
- Karen (8/5): - The room was quiet and the location was close to the north entrance of the park.
- Alla (4/5): - Dirty blanket and towels, very loud air-conditioner unit. Metal bed frame make noise very time someone makes a move.
- Crystal (10/5): - Was a great stop for our desert exploration and stay
- Crystal (10/5): - Nice quiet, clean place for our stay.
- Irene (8/5): - It’s a quiet, clean, motel with friendly staff. The only thing is that some of the electricity was a bit glitchy in the room. On one side the bedside lamp and wall light wouldn’t turn on but honestly that didn’t affect the quality of our stay. If you’re looking for a simple place to sleep this is a great option.
- Patricia L (10/5): Perfect stay - This is the best hotel I have stayed at in a long time. The room was perfectly furnished and comfortable. Everything was clean and worked well. The staff took care of all my needs.
- Susan (6/5): - Hotel is dated although refreshed and very clean. Parking right outside the door is convenient but noisy and hotel is right on a major thoroughfare so lots of traffic noise. The two people at checkin and out were very nice.
- Ann (8/5): Nice place. - Clean and charming. Only issue were the pillows. Great for leaning against terrible for sleeping. Even one soft pillow would have been great
- Steven (10/5): - Nice and convenient place to stay for overnight between parks.
- Geno (8/5): Good location - Let us check in early, very nice staff. Average room, but great location to Joshua Tree!
- Peter (10/5): Ol' Gramps Ain't Right - The woman at the reception desk always had a friendly smile when I came by at night to have a new doorpass made so I could get into my room where I left the old doorpass. The landscaping is nice!
- KAREN (6/5): - The rooms were a decent size and parking was directly adjacent to each room. The motel has a cool retro vibe. It is in a super convenient location near the west entrance to Joshua Tree park and walking distance to the downtown area of 29 Palms; however, because of the easy walk, vagrants were sometimes loitering in the central motor court. When unknown people knocked on our door in the middle of the night, the front desk responded quickly and moved our room the following morning. After that, the rest of the stay felt more secure.
- di (10/5): - Staff always makes my stay welcoming. Th8s is the only place i stay when coming to 29.
- Pranav (10/5): - Quaint little place very close to the national park. Lot of good options nearby. Would recommend.
- Christopher (6/5): - Within walking distance to visitors centers. Small gift shops and restaurants close by
- Rosa (2/5): - The sheets were dirty and the mattress was stained with a yellowish color. I had my own sheets i didnt feel that nothing was clean and i couldn't shower because the water turned cold after a few mins. And honestly the bedding looked ugly. It was quite which was good and the building from the outside looked nice but the inside it was not so attractive
- Harry (4/5): - We had a family suite with 2 bedrooms & kitchen. Rooms were clean. Beds were too tight for 2 adults. Kitchen was ok, big stove, fridge and microwave - clean, but there were not clean or enough utensils to cook- we have food allergies and would prefer to make our own food where possible. Front desk was very cheerful and helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): Slept great! - Wonderful customer service. Cleanliness very good. Room features- no hot water or tub, and wasn’t given WiFi login. Overall, better than other budget hotels in the area.
- MeuterMedia (8/5): Budget - $69 is good price for the renovated rooms (#131) park in front of room. pool but not heated. nice seating areas around the premises. Friendly front desk. no breakfast so but Dennies around the corner. recommended budget motel. MeuterMedia
