Our room was large, very comfortable and clean with A/C and an excellent shower which was greatly appreciated. The hotel was everything we hoped for and more besides and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff cannot be overstated. We enjoyed excellent breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay and under a sumptuous grapevine. We returned frequently to the terrace for afternoon beers after having been out early to explore before the hottest part of the day. We then went out again for an evening exploration and dinner. The sunsets are beautiful. The location of the hotel on Ortega itself is fabulous and you are totally spoilt for choice of restaurants, cafes, bars, market and gelato shops with everything in walking distance We had a truly wonderful week and the unique nature of the hotel and its lovely staff greatly contributed to making it a memorable and enjoyable trip for us

Since there’s limited driving in the area they try as much as possible to arrange parking and transportation. The room and hotel is very unique with art and architecture. They provided a great bottle of red wine for being a VIP on Expedia. They also provided free cocktails for us once during our stay and free drinks from the room refrigerator. Breakfast was delicious. The only con was that the shower was small but I guess that is typical with a historic building. The terraces overlooking the water were fantastic. Ortigia is one of best cities to see in Sicily and Henry’sHotel is the place to stay.

- Fletcher (4/5): - Old building (to be expected in Ortygia) remodeled many, many years ago. Pros: staff friendly (with one exception, below) and on-site 24x7. Showers fully enclosed & work well. Beds OK. Excellent breakfast including custom coffee service. Beautiful patio overlooking the bay, with grape arbor and drink service. Great location near southern tip of the island. Cons: If you drive, valet service drives your car to mainland and needs 1 hour notice to bring it back. Rooms are small. "Art collection" consists mainly of crudely colored paintings featuring women with their chests exposed in various contorted poses. PROBLEM: There was a really bad smell in the bathroom. Staff said this was a new problem, and it never happened before. Manager said that the smell is due to the water system in Ortygia and is there all the time. When we complained, he moved us to a smaller room and got testy about compensation.

- Lucie (10/5): Lovely boutique Hotel - Charm Henry Hotel is a quirky fun place. Beautifully renovated seventeenth century building with modern art thrown in with traditional decor. And it works! Very tastefully done. The outdoor teraced balcony has a great view of the harbor and breakfast is served under the grapevines. Really beautiful. The hotel is also in an excellent location.

- Susan (8/5): - Advertized private car park. It is public parking over a mile away. Valet needs an hour notice and a reservation. Ceilings were low and rooms dark. Stairs are steep.lovely view of sea. Very noisy.

The property lives up to it's name - full of character and quirky spaces - indoors and on the multiple terraces. The breakfast was very good. Driving guests need to use the valet service which requires an hour lead time to access the car. But that wasn't an issue for us. We really liked this place.
- Dale (10/5): Perfect for a short stay in Ortigia - Great location in Ortigia. Beautiful terrace for breakfast (which had a really big variety to choose from) or just to relax on. Quite quirky and old so won't be up your street if you don't want character but if you're ok with that and it being less modern you will love it! Staff were also super friendly.

- Geoffrey (10/5): - The Charme Henry house hotel is an old hotel and rustic. It’s the staff that makes this hotel work. Warm and enthusiastic, they go out of their way to accommodate their guests. The breakfast selection is superb. Yes I would stay here again. Keep in mind the street side is noisy. Recommend you use their valet service, driving in Ortigia is bad enough, parking is problematic.

Francisco in Reception was very knowledgeable and helpful, arranging our off-site parking and telling us about Ortigia. The breakfasts were great and the location of the hotel is wonderfully convenient. The breakfast terrace overlooks the bay and the quiet murmur of people strolling up and down the street is nice to hear, as it has a cheerful vibe. Very highly recommended.

Although we stayed only one night, we nearly changed our plans to stay longer because we enjoyed the experience so much. The breakfast is fantastic and the lounge area is perfect for a glass of wine at the end of the day. I will stay here next time I am in Syracuse.

- Haydn w g (10/5): Charme Henry's house was charming - While a little tricky to find in Ortigia's narrow streets its beautiful when you find it. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are individual, quirky and spotlessly clean. Everything in the mini fridge is complimentary. We were in room 311 and the view over the sea and sunset was to die for. The breakfast was fresh and everything you would expect from a continental breakfast. You could have the breakfast inside or on the terrace overlooking the sea, which we did because the weather was great for the middle of October. They arranged for a private car company to collect our car from the hotel and we would give them roughly an hour's notice for the car to be delivered to the hotel for use. There is only room for 1 car at the front of the hotel, which cannot be left there due to the narrowness of the road. The private firm charge 25 euros a day. The hotel supplies towels for the beach free of charge if required. The hotel lounge is lovely with a small bar, which we never used because we were out all day and there were mini cannolis are the reception desk for clients to pick at when passing. Fantastic quiet hotel - recommend it.

- Jane (10/5): wonderful hotel in Ortigia - Henry’s house hotel was wonderful - it has amazing eclectic furnishings and decor which gives you a genuine feeing of Italian tradition. With a beautiful vine covered terrace overlooking the sea where we sat to watch the sun setting each evening was just perfect. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating making you immediately feel at home, the breakfast is a delicious feast of fresh fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses, omelettes, bread etc and so well presented. We were so sorry to only be staying 3 nights and would certainly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Siracusa.

Francesco is amazing and knowledgeable The complimentary drinks are wonderful Our bed was rickety and made noise and shook everyone we moved The window has a v light curtain so the street light kept me awake The shower door was very difficult to open and close in room 415 Unfortunately we had only a standard room which was available when we booked Our friends had booked at the same time but they had a much better standard room So I guess our luck of the draw was bad ! So try and book early avioid room 415

Our room, the classic (and cheapest, I believe) faced the narrow road 3 floors below, and we got woken at 4.45 by a tremendous racket when the bin men came to collect bottles and rubbish. Not ideal when on holiday. The bathroom was a bit dingy and the hotel gave the impression it could do with an update. Nice touch was the glass of wine and talk about Syracuse to welcome us, and the breakfast was excellent!

- Catherine (10/5): UNIQUE, SPECIAL, FRIENDLY - The position of this little hotel (only 14 rooms) is wonderful. We were in 311, right at the top - the views were spectacular. The very best thing about the hotel was the staff; nothing was too much for them and they all made us feel special. The only problem we had was finding somewhere comfortable to sit outside - but everything else was so nice it felt churlish to moan about that! We would definitely stay there again.

- jashby (10/5): Good hotel with fantastic sea view - We chose ortigia because we wanted to be away from Siracusa but close enough to walk to siracusa’s sights. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly and we were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. All spoke very good English. We loved having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. The food was just right. The room opened onto the road but we were not bothered by any noise during our stay. The air conditioning was excellent .

Delicious breakfast sat eating on the outside terrace, and drinks whenever we wanted. The views were great and the actual style of the decor we really loved- so different. Although the street was very narrow the location was brilliant, only minutes away from the main centre. We loved just walking along the streets, stopping for coffee or something to eat, or just watching the world go by. Wished we could have stayed longer!
