Guest Reviews
- Hendrik (3/5): Never again. This hotel should be demolished. - Reasonable parking, after the police team working on a drug sting, moved their vehicles.... The entire property was old, badly kept and dingy. We were afraid to touch any of the furniture, and the chairs were literally falling apart if you tried to move them, or there were BIG holes in the upholstery

- BAZAH (2/5): - Worst Hotel Experience Ever – Dirty and Smelly!
I booked America’s Best Value Inn in New London through Expedia, and it was the worst experience of my life. The room had a horrible urine smell coming from both the bedroom and bathroom. The bedsheets were dirty, the towels were stained, and the furniture was old, ripped, and in terrible condition. The whole place felt unhygienic, and we all started feeling sick because of the awful smell and filth.
For the high price they charge, I was expecting at least a clean and comfortable room — but it was absolutely disgusting. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Terrible experience — stay away!
- Jason (10/5): - Great
- Heather (6/5): - Very convenient location. I appreciate the hospitality.
- Mavys (6/5): -
- Todd (2/5): - The hotel smells terribe in the hall.
- Jonathan (4/5): -
- John (6/5): - The beds and bathroom were clean but both my brother and I found our feet got very dirty in the main room(as soon as you stepped into the shower you could see dirt & hair wash off!) There were issues with the "guest" internet working and even after we were given access to another "private" internet, it was pretty slow.
- Amanda (6/5): - The gentleman at check in was very nice. The place wasnt far from all of the things we were doing. Wish the bed was a bit more comfortable, but for a one night stay it wasnt bad.
- Pero (10/5): -
- Barbara (1/5): Decrepit filthy - Filthy not a place to stay Truly filthy awful
- Ashley (2/5): - It’s a no for me. If you can afford to stay somewhere else, including your car, do it. Do not stay here. Room was absolutely disgusting. Stains on sheets, pillow cases, dried up dead bugs plastered to the wall. Didn’t even have a smoke alarm, instead they stuffed a fast food napkin in the holes where it used to be. I had to sanitize EVERYTHING. Hair all over the bathroom. Stains and residue on countertops. Black mold in the air conditioner. Hallways smelled like weed and mildew. We had a 2 night stay planned and I refused to stay the 2nd night.
- Tsai Hsuan (7/5): - 服務生介紹旁邊的叫車行到JFK機場50美元,價錢公道 Loby走廊在地下一樓,有點煙味
- Jessica (8/5): - I had a comfortable stay here! The motel was clean and cozy. The only thing I cam say needs improvement is the key cards for access to the building ands room. I had some issues with the card readers on the doors going into the building and once going into the room, but the issue was addressed quickly each time. Overall, despite an interesting crowd (which they can't help people being crazy), it was a comfortable stay. I'd come back again.
- John (6/5): Good for the price. - Room was clean. Electric outlet in kitchenette did not work. Refrig./freezer in desperate need of defrosting. Hallways, stairways and common area were pretty shabby.
- Sherelle (4/5): Disappointing -
- Silvio (8/5): - Easy on easy off from highway
- W6551MBnikkiw (8/5): Convenient location - While the interior looks a bit run down, the hotel was staffed with one of the nicest people I've come across. I was able to check in early and my room was exactly as pictured online. The bed was comfy and it is conveniently located to shopping and food. Also, located right next to a bus stop.
- Ashley (10/5): - Owners are super sweet and helpful!!
- Patrisha (5/5): Passable - The price was also cheap which is what we were looking for, it was 5 minutes away from the family we were going to see. We were right next to a lot of shopping places which was great! The room itself wasn't too clean. There was random hair on both beds and what looked like makeup stains. The beds were super uncomfortable. The bathroom was pretty clean, but the toilet seat was almost taken off.
- Mike (2/5): MOST DISGUSTING LODGING WE HAVE EVER SEEN! - Wish I had 10,000 characters to go on about this place. Absolutely disgusting. We ended up calling Hotels.com to say we had checked in but were leaving due to the filth at this hotel. It shouldn't even be on the website. It taints the hotels.com reputation To get anything taken care of, you must go back up to the front office, (which sadly I didn't get a picture of. That should have been the red flag not to go to our room.) and ring the bell for the man , who must live upstairs, to come down in his nasty slippers and tell him about the scenario you are having.) Couldn't figure AC. He walked down and stuck his finger in the gaping hole to turn it on. Also, there were no hangers, only 1 empty ring on the clothing rod. He gave us 2 hangers that needed rings so we laughingly hung 1 hanger for the 1 ring up there. Supposed to be there 3 nts - usually unpack everything. Take a look at the inside of the dresser drawer. That would keep you from taking anything out of your luggage. There was a broken ironing board but no iron, Again, back to office for 3rd time to request one. We kept feeling ickier and ickier with every item that popped up.Take a look at the sink area and the lamp bases. The bed was the final straw when my husband sat down and the mattress went into a "V" shape. The photo doesn't do it justice. We were in New London for our son's sub-school graduation and wanted something close to the base. We ended up moving to Fairfield Inn, as always lovely and clean & no slippers
- Ana (7/5): Good - location was fantastic! staff was great
- Phuttiporn (2/5): - It’s terrible
The smell is so bad, even you are checked out and left the hotel already but you can smell it from your shirt.
My whole body smells like that hotel
Please run away from this place.
I felt so bad.
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Pamela (4/5): - Didn’t not feel safe, no chain or second lock. Neighbors banging on their door arguing with people inside.
- Rita (10/5): - Very clean and conveniences the staffs were extremely helpful always have a welcoming smile
- Williams (2/5): - I didn’t stay because that hotel is dirty terrible 😡
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst hotel ever - We booked this via hotels.com but did not stay. The photographs online are NOT an accurate depiction. There is no air conditioning in the lobby, halls or other "common" areas. Overall it smelled dingy and musty. The beds had stains on the comforters and bedsheets. The area around the hotel did not appear to be the safest and marijuana could be smelled in the room and hallways.
This was one of the worst hotels I have ever seen or been inside of. DO NOT waste your time even looking at this place.
We did not stay over night and are unsure if we will get a refund because we booked via third party.
- Tiffani (1/5): I would not recommend this MOTEL to anyone. I would have rather paid the $700 a night at a nicer place. - It was the cheapest in the area. It should be listed as a MOTEL on booking.com. The first picture on booking.com shows that there are hard wood floors. This is all very misleading. The floors were carpet and I had to wear shoes the entire time and my socks were black. When we were checking in, two other guests were complaining to the owner. Another couple staying were complaining about cigarette holes in the sheets and we had the same as well even though it was clearly stated when checking in that it was a non-smoking building. The blankets all had those fuzz balls and were itchy and felt dirty. There was also tin foil over all of the stove tops with visible grease left from the gust before and a button totally missing from the stove. The room had a stale smell and the towels are clearly reused and very old, rough, and we didn’t even shower at all because of how disgusting the bathroom was. Our window wasn’t locked when we arrived and there was no screen - safety issue? The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything from other rooms. Only one of our two keys worked to enter the room which could have been an issue since there is no one there after 9pm.
- MICHAEL (2/5): Potential to be great - As a bed and breakfast owner i have to leave a bad review, but this place was terrible. The location is perfect, but the owner seems to just not care.
Dirty sheets, the entire place just screamed i dont care.
- Denise (4/5): - This motel is located right off the highway in a residential area. It looked run down from the outside. Our room was located on the 1st floor. The room door looked like it had been punched or something. And it wouldn't close automatically. You had to pull it closed. The room smelled like they just cleaned it (chemicals) and the wood-like floor was damp and sticky. There were 2 queen beds w their top comforters thrown on the floor. We had a small kitchen that included a very dated electric stove. In the mini-fridge, only the freezer cold. Our tv didn't work. We asked a maid for help and she summoned the front desk. The front desk manager tried to get it working and had to switch out a cable box.
You could hear your neighbors both upstairs and on either side of you (paper thin walls). And while the a/c did work, it was freezing cold. Bathroom was small and the towel rack was loose.
We left early. Would not recommend.
- Ana (4/5): - Its simple, the property smells wierd, the bed was ok. Not very clean.you get what you pay for, for a night its ok.
- Callie (2/5): Gross rooms - Mold on AC, pee stains on bed
- Angelis (6/5): Pleasant - Even though the staff was nice there where things in the room that were rusting. The towels even though I assumed washed had stains on them. I felt like the place was over priced for the experience.
- Andrzej (2/5): Lack of sleep and uneasiness! - Not much! Is not a family place. Other guests partied all night till 6 am. Loud music. Not sure if that was bulletproof glass at check in?
- Donald (2/5): - This stated in questions
- Timofey (2/5): - Property needs updating and rooms needs better maintenance for odors
- Fayth (6/5): - Very dirty, dirty sheets , they don’t clean rooms well at all, but other than that overall stay was decent.
- Callie (2/5): Gross rooms - Mold on AC, pee stains on bed
- Ashlee (2/5): - Rm250 has a mouse in it
- Verified traveler (4/5): Deceiving - Right when we walked in it had a strong smell of some sort. Once we got down the second floor hallway it started to subside. The room just gave us a “Maybe we should stay somewhere else” vibe. I convinced my wife that we are just staying 1 night and it’s fine. The chair in the room was ripped and torn, the bathroom was pretty clean. When we got home all the clothes and our bags had that smell we smelt from the Hotel.
- Leslie (6/5): - It was okay for one night.
- Sukeeta (2/5): - I would not recommend to anyone who wants to stay here, we booked this hotel because we were vendors at sailfest 2024 in New London, the room smells, hallway stinks with smoke and odors, I could go on and on, never again and I hope orbits send someone to see what everyone else is saying
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Was perfect location for sailfest weekend. Staff was friendly! And love the fact had a full kitchen! Awesome time with friends!
- Melvin (10/5): - EVERYTHING WENT REALLY WELL
- Denise (2/5): Too much money for this hotel - There was no breakfast no coffee as advertised Staff had to come in twice to fix tv… bed wasnt made in morning… hallways very dismal… sketchy people around
- Tiffany (2/5): - The railing was rusted off the stairs and I fell with the rbig metal railing falling on top of me
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (2/5): Get what you pay for. - This hotel is what you would expect for the price. The area was an eye sore and people were living out of there car in the parking lot. The room itself felt dirty and was uncomfortable. If you do stay, check the windows because mine were unlocked. The man who was working was very nice.
- Laura (1/5): Staying here literally hell. - It was an ok location, but not what I expected from the way it was advertised… I was woken up at 3:30 AM by a drunk man who was beating on my door and trying to get into my room. This continued for well over an hour and I was forced to call the police to handle the situation. I was on a work trip and was exhausted the entire next day because of this. It was a horrible experience and I will never book here again.
- Jieling (2/5): - The room smell bad, and so noisy. Can’t sleep at all. Never go back again
- Andile (1/5): It’s was a bad experience, the bad was not comfortable and the strange smell in room, blankets and pillows - Nothing Everything
- Evelyn (4/5): My stay was a short stay just to lay my head for a few hrs driving back from the concert - No breakfast was provided and the location was not a good one The noise of the neighbors all time of the night couldn’t sleep the room had a strong odor I wasn’t comfortable the cleaning staff wasn’t friendly not recommend
- Santiago (2/5): Not recomendable - The ask for a 100 dollars deposit
It’s not listed in booking.com In booking.com it says that breakfast included and they told me it ve been 3 years not including breakfast
Very disappointed
- Tom (8/5): - Very old and tired property.
- Mark (2/5): Very poor - The 24 hour access. I was able to retrieve my bag late at night and drive home rather than stay over. I was not keen on anything. Sorry. I didn't stay, I'd rather drive the 2 hours home tired.
- David (8/5): - I originally booked a room with two beds but because it didn't have a carpet and I was getting over a cold, we had to settle for a room with one bed that had a carpet and bring our own air bed.
- Sandra (4/5): - The tv didn’t work, the window would not close all the way, the mattress had blood stains on it and the hallway smelled horrible. Also there was only 2 towels in the room when it was booked for 4 people.
- Felix (2/5): - Ok so let's start with the sad News that My Wife and I woke up in the middle of the night 🌉 with Incredible Itching. Then in the morning 🌄 we Both had Bed Bugs Bites around our Neck Arms and Feet
- Katherine (4/5): A Cheap Hotel - The property was close to where I needed to be for the visit. However, this was probably the dirtiest, most run down hotel I have ever stayed.
- Theophilus (2/5): - The staff was nice but it was a lot going on .
- Charles (4/5): - Room was clean, but spartan. Some charger outlets worked but not others. I was not expecting a lot for the price, but the noise from above my room throughout the night at late hours sounded like it was a martial arts studio, with long periods of running and thumping. Did not get good nights' sleep.
- Sabin (4/5): - Hallways stinking of pot. Thin walls and ceilings. Doors you have to slam shut. Dripping faucets. The rooms were kept clean, but basically this is a flophouse posing as a Best Western motel. It should be priced accordingly.
- Adam (4/5): - Floors creak so you hear everyone walking above you. Room was on the first floor and I found the windows not latched shut. Heard creaking sound like they were being opened in the middle of the night. Found half eaten marshmallow fluff jar on windowsill behind curtain. Heard noises like small animal in the room. Never coming back.
- SARAH (2/5): - The room was dirty, found a crack pipe in the chair and woke up to water in the floor from the air conditioner.
- Joseph (4/5): - Antiquated and run down.
- Brianna (10/5): - When we arrived at the property it was a few hours before check in. The owner and whom I believe was his wife was very accommodating and allowed early check in! They were understanding and went above and beyond based on our situation.
The room was very clean and for the price it featured amenities that were not offered at very many locations in this area. We will be booking again and not understanding why there were two stars on this property because in my opinion it was definitely 5!
I liked how close they were to a grocery store as well as many other shopping locations in this area! Not only the convenience was a plus but also the hospitality and customer service provided!
Thank you so much again!
- Robert (2/5): - Roaches in the room!
- Simon (2/5): Simply awful - To be fair, this is a poorly rated hotel and we knew this when booking.
However, this hotel really should be condemned and removed from Hotels.com inventory.
Nothing more to add
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ocean Beach Park Getaway - Our stay was fine for a beach weekend. The room was partially renovated. The bathroom needed updating. Also the hand towels didn’t look clean - rather dingy. Bring your wash cloths if you want to bathe properly. (smile)
- Kerry A. (2/5): Would never book again! - This hotel was by far the worst we have stayed in. The room was more than outdated and not clean. The outlets were exposed. TV did not work. Floor moldings hadn't been cleaned probably since hotel opened. Wore shoes the entire time because carpets were gross. Shower unsafe and scummy. Would not recommend to anyone.
- Elisa (2/5): - This was the worst place I have ever stayed in. There was mold in the bathroom, a razor blade in a dresser drawer, a cigarette burn on the blanket on the bed, it was not cleaned at all. The bathroom was disgusting. We left at 3am because of how dirty it was and the smell of mold. I can’t believe that they are allowed to rent rooms. It was unsanitary in every aspect of the room.
- Brian (4/5): - Refrigerator did not work, door jam wood was worn away, not much holding the door shut. Looked like it could easily be kicked in. bad smell. A/C vents were caked with dust. Who knows how dirty the air was that was coming into my room? Bed was sagging.
- Qi (6/5): - Old appliance, small toilet old bathroom small bed loud ac
- Brad (4/5): - Room smelled quite bad and my clothes and towel that I had out of my bag while there retained that smell after I left. Had a kitchenette, which seemed like a great little perk, but there was mold in the refrigerator. Though there weren't many other people staying there, the hallways were loud and reeked of marijuana smoke.
- John (10/5): - Some of the furniture was a little ragged but it was right near the downtown area
- Olivia (1/5): It was not worth the amount of money I paid to stay there. - How close it was to things. I was told when booking the room it was going to be 2 queen beds, which was not true the beds are more like 3/4 beds. I was told that there was free breakfast involved with my stay. That was also a lie because there was no where in the motel to have breakfast, there wasn’t even a coffee machine in the lobby. Housekeeping wasn’t a thing no one came me cleaned the sheets during the day or take the garbage. The one time house keeping did come, it was at 5:30 in the morning.
- Dominic (6/5): - Not the best hotel but is a place to rest your head. Woman working the front desk was very friendly. The hotel is visibly outdated and lacks quality cleanliness. The room was nice enough. Newer furniture but very old appliances/amenities.
- John (2/5): - We didn't stay. The room was dirty and smelled like Indian curry. Everything was old and dingy.
- M6573HMnicholasm (10/5): New owners More....enjoyable very clean safe quiet atmosphere. Outside doors are roomkey Entry only.. - I highly recommend the Americas Best Value Inn. They changed owners a couple of months ago. Since the new owners have been here they have renovated the rooms the rooms are also much cleaner they have taken the time to plants flowers outside and the landscaping is beautiful They are very friendly and Give a welcoming feeling when you're there
- Tanya (6/5): - The owners let us check in early as we had an early afternoon wedding which was very kind of them!
However, there were German cockroaches in our room and the furnishings were clearly outdated.
The outside was also less than desirable but they kept everything clean and it smelled good.
- Donald (6/5): - No cleaning on 2 day stay. No extra towels for second day. Soft spot in floor that you thought you could fall through. Walls and doors marked and dirty in hallway to room. Furniture was damaged from a lot of use that gave room dingy feel. If you have a tolerance for that, it was not a bad place and the price was OK compared to some.
- Jessica (1/5): where should I start.. hair on bed.. burnt bathroom sink.. very very outdated tiles in bathroom floor, moldy shower curt - Absolutely Nothing!! Everything!! Dirty!!Dirty!!Dirty!!
- Sandra (2/5): - It seemed it was also weekly/monthly rental units. From sitting in parking lot and watching continuously groups of people coming out playing loud music , driving around the buildings at high speeds all while drinking and smoking weed
- Uciel (2/5): Dirty - There was stains on the blackest that looked like they weren’t washed at all. And so on
- Adelyne (5/5): Passable - Room were big and spacious Stained towels and bathroom wasn't as clean .
- Nisa (5/5): Passable -
- Justin (4/5): Don't stay here - Property is old and outdated. Room condition was poor. Dirty bathroom, ceiling broken. Toilet kept running. Bed was like an air mattress on a platform. TV was not even connected to cable box. Smoke detector had a plastic bag over it. Regretted staying there
Will never do it again.
- Clarence (6/5): - The floor need to be revamp, the noise from people living upstairs was heard clearly. Constantly walking and running around.
- Juan (2/5): - there are bedbugs in the rooms
- Angela (2/5): - Chemicals they use to "clean" the property smell absolutely awful. Front desk staff seem to just make up prices daily and often take longer than expected to attend to guest's. I waited in the lobby for more than five minutes with no one in sight to check in. Towels were stained. Comforter had cigarette holes. The best part is my room had mice! When i (obviously upset and grossed out) informed the front desk and canceled the rest of my stay...I was told mice cant be on the 2nd floor.......save your time and money and avoid at all costs!
- Tina (6/5): - It was ok for the price. Bathtub did not work. I had to stuff a washcloth in the drain to take a bath. The tv did not work. The staff was friendly and my room was ready when checking in.
- Nalelhi (4/5): Disappointing - The ice machine was dirty, the vending machines were Broken, they didn’t have utensils, there were no fitted sheets for the bed just a top sheet, some of the outlets did not work, there was no mini fridge.
- Omega (5/5): Passable -
- Kristina (1/5): Bad -
- Extacye781 (2/5): Don’t waste your money. - Terrible! Smells. Dirty. Full kitchen but no pots or pans. No plates or utensils. I would have not used it anyways. It’s disgusting. Mole in the bathroom. I recommend pay for another hotel a few miles up the road.
- James (5/5): Don't expect much with your stay; good for night's sleep if driving a long way and need a break. - No amenities in the room; bedding was terrible; facility is in dire need of a facelift; door was broken; smell permeated throughout the facility; bathroom was a mess.
- Richard (2/5): - If you like cockroaches it's the best place to be
