- KateP82 (2/5): Beware - thieves - On the 22nd March I made a reservation with the hotel, via Expedia, which failed to authorise as the card I provided didn’t process. The hotel were kind enough to tell me this and that the booking was cancelled. I found alternative arrangements and thought no more of it. I did not cancel via Expedia as the Marmara cancelled the booking and I was advised that I had to cancel via the third-party site. On the 28th March, Expedia contacted me to ‘get me ready’ for my trip. I contacted the hotel via the app and received no response. On the 31st March, the hotel reprocessed my booking again, without seeking permission. I tried to contact the hotel via Expedia and was told because I had not cancelled via Expedia, the booking was still live. The hotel charged me for a no show to the tune of $600. I have tried to get my money back via my credit card and via Expedia and no one can help. My feedback to you is a) if you cancel a guest’s booking due an issue with their card, please make it explicit that this should also be cancelled by the guest with any third party site and/ or b) if you are going to reprocess a booking, seek permission first. I find it highly irregular that you would just take money from a credit card on file without making contact with its owner - some might consider it theft.

- Julie (9/5): Super! - Personnel adorable, aux petits soins (à l'accueil, et femmes de chambre très à l'écoute), disponible 24/24 ce qui est bien pratique pour le départ à 4h du matin que nous avions (taxi réservé par l'hôtel, nickel). Chambre très spacieuse et très bien équipée, avec kitchenette bien pratique! Lits hyper confortables et chambre plutôt silencieuse, bien insonorisée et donnant sur une rue plutôt calme, ce qui est rare pour New York, grand écran et iPad dans la chambre. connexion wifi nickel. Bouteilles d'eau et capsules de café de bienvenue. fontaine d'eau au citron disponible dans le hall. Piscine chauffée bien appréciable; je regrette de ne pas avoir eu le temps d'en profiter un peu plus, ainsi que de la salle de sport et du spa.. Juste pour que l'hôtel puisse justifier ses 5 étoiles, car globalement très contente du séjour! : Pomme de douche "spa" pas très pratique, non amovible et mal orientée (on a mis de l'eau partout à chaque douche!) mais grande baignoire agréable. Manque un peu de rangements dans la salle de bain. L'hôtel manque un peu d'entretien: les luminaires étaient rafistolés au scotch et les tiroirs se décrochaient quand on les ouvrait, il y avait un courant d'air par la fenêtre, même fermée.. mais heureusement le chauffage fonctionnait très bien. Manque de luminosité dans la chambre (lumière tamisée, pas de plafonnier), les prises de la console de l'ipad ne fonctionnaient pas, mais un membre du personnel nous a prêté 2 adaptateurs pour compenser.
- Donna (8/5): Great stay for 1 week - The staff were all lovely, very helpful. In particular Sue on the desk sorted out the issues we had. Looked like the room wasn't quite ready for us as there was no tea/coffee facilities or a mini fridge for water. Sue sorted these within minutes. Hairdryer was broken too which she got replaced. Swimming pool was quiet and relaxing. The Turkish bath is a steam room with marble slabbing which is good after a day of walking about. Location is great for the subway and plenty attractions within walking distance. Loads of eateries nearby also. If i am honest its not the usual 5 star experience ive had but the hotel and staff are nice.

Corridors are very dark to the rooms, and a porter when requested our daughters medication from the fridge actually brought someone else's medication.

Very nice and cosy athmosphere at the hotel with very nice, friendly and accomodating staff. The rooms are big, nice and clean and the bed is amazingly comfortable. The value is good. The hotel is quiet, so you don’t hear the other guests in the room next to yours. There are free amenities, which was nice. Thank you for an amazing stay. We will definately come back.

She was extremely communicative and made sure everything was clearly explained during my stay. From check-in to any questions, I had later, she was always very helpful. Su was also very understanding and accommodating. She took the time to listen and made sure my needs were taken care of quickly and professionally. Her positive attitude and kindness really stood out, and she made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Thank you, Su, for being so helpful and nice!
- Trail52902934352 (2/5): A "5-Star" Rating on Paper Only – Complete Disappointment - I booked a surprise birthday stay for my girlfriend specifically for the indoor pool, only to find out at check-in it was closed for maintenance. Zero advance warning. We were dissapointed, but thought maybe they would make up for it elsewhere so we remained positive. Unfortunately things only got worse though. Because of the pool closure, there honestly wasn’t much to do at the property. The gym is small and cheap. The rooftop is also closed. We were the only ones in the lobby (not suprised). Our room was very cramped, the "smart" TV was not smart, the iPad is glitchy, and there are no speakers or surround sound for the music. Also the bathroom door handle literally broke when we went to open it. The food is basic yet wildly overpriced. While they technically have the amenities to claim a 5-star rating, the reality is a 2-star experience. We brought these issues up respectfully at checkout and were met with a shrug. Then later thru email, and management's response was a slap in the face. The sad part is we left genuinely feeling dissapointed, like that obvious feeling you just wasted time and money. But it’s clear they prioritize their bottom line over their guests' experiences. Don't make the same mistake we did; spend your money somewhere that actually values you.

From the moment we arrived, staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. We felt welcomed and pampered. Other than the pool heater being broken when we stayed, it was a flawless visit. The Marmara will definitely be our home away from home in New York.

- Lorran (4/5): I would not be back - Great location! I’m writing to share feedback about my stay, as it fell well below expectations. Service throughout was slow, and several interactions felt unprofessional—particularly with the housekeeping staff, who were repeatedly rude. The elevators also were not functioning properly during my stay, and at least one was out of service. Breakfast service was extremely slow. Even a single cappuccino took 20–30 minutes to arrive, and it seemed the team was understaffed, which impacted the overall experience. The most disappointing moment happened at checkout: a cleaner came to my room and, in a very rude manner, told me to leave because it was checkout time. The approach was unnecessary and made the departure feel unpleasant. I’m sharing this because I expected a higher level of service and hospitality. - Luis (8/5): Very good and enjoyable and we hope the hotel stays open for a long time. - Service was excellent. Very good team of people, very responsive and polite. We liked the room because it was spacious, had lots of light and a nice little balcony. The room was drafty, it needed new windows. It also needed more outlets. The internet in the room was very weak. The hotel clearly needed a hand of paint and new elevators. The swimming pool is fabulous but many tiles are broken. Generally, the hotel needs some revamping.

- Ekaterina (8/5): Really good hotel for your life! - I would like to highlight the large, spacious rooms. I was also pleasantly surprised by the wide range of amenities for everyday living. There is a stove, a large refrigerator, and a full set of kitchenware, including pots, pans, forks, knives, a can opener, a whisk, plates, and all the necessary dishes. In addition, there is dishwashing liquid, a dishwasher with detergent pods, rubber gloves, and even a brand-new sponge in its original packaging. Everything needed for daily living was provided, which made the stay especially comfortable. The location is quite convenient, quiet, and not noisy. Both the rooms and the lobby are fairly modern, with good-quality renovations. The bathroom is pleasant as well. Overall, the place left a very positive and enjoyable impression. As for the downsides, it seemed that the room was not thoroughly dusted, as dust was noticeable on the dark furniture. Upon check-in, not all towels were provided, and several basic amenities were missing. For example, we never received toothbrushes during our four-day stay. I am aware that additional items can be requested free of charge, but I chose to purchase my own instead. On the second day, an extra towel was added once it was clear that there were three guests. Aside from these minor issues, I did not notice any significant drawbacks, and overall my impression of the stay remained largely positive!
- Claudine (8/5): Bon séjour grâce à la gentillesse du personnel extraordinaire - J’ai adoré l’emplacement à 10’ à pied du madison stadium, le stade de NY et tout près de tout en général mais tout à fait au calme loin du quartier vulgaire de Times Square. J’ai adoré l’ambiance et les petits détails comme la coffee station le matin ainsi que la piscine. Cela pourrait être LE boutique hotel de NY s’il n’y avait pas les détails auxquels il faut remédier. En arrivant quand j’ai vu l’ascenseur défraîchi, j’ai eu très peur. Ce n’est définitivement plus un 5 *. D’abord la salle de bains: mal éclairée et pas très fonctionnelle: pas de place pour poser ses affaires, pas de lampe au-dessus du miroir. Juste pas possible! Ensuite, le même commentaire vaut pour la chambre: pas bien éclairée et donc pas trop bien nettoyée non plus….mis à part la cuisine qui brillait mais que l’on n’a pas utilisée. Le lit est bon, mais les oreillers très durs…. Ce que je regrette surtout c’est qu’on a oublié de faire notre chambre alors qu’une fois on est sortis après 10:30 sans mettre l’étiquette make up my room.

Michael Baize and his welcoming staff made us feel right at home. Cheerful and expedient they always went the extra mile to offer excellent customer service with a smile. Highly recommend this hidden gem of a place.

Very hard working staff especially Turkish ones are great but very limited. We used to go to restaurant 45 minutes prior to order breakfast, so that our kids to come when the food is ready Tired rooms Room cleaning is poor You need to ask everyday for even in room water replacement, tea&coffee replacement Hand Washing soap was empty Some outlets in the room was not working There are couple of planting pots in the balcony for separation but it’s empty. No planting… Room keys needed to be remake everyday It wasn’t a pleasant stay for us

- Dawn (8/5): - Staff were fantastic especially on concierge, and the barman. The sauna was out of service for the duration of our stay and this is what I primarily booked this hotel for. Also the rooftop bar was closed for construction. The carpet in the room could do with a good cleaning. The bed base not inline with mattress and very painful walking into them.
- D1479ETsusiew (10/5): Going above and beyond! - My son stayed here for 1 night in October. It was his first time in NYC. He was traveling solo and he had an appointment early in the morning. We chose the hotel as it was literally one minute away from his appointment. Rachel in reservations fulfilled our request by giving him a room on the highest floor with an amazing view. She also reassured me that if my son needed anything, he could check with her and she would try to help in any way. Fortunately, he was fine and didn't need to, but it was great knowing that she offered. The morning of my son's appointment he checked out very early and expressed to Steven at the front desk that his appointment shouldn't be long. My son is not adventurous especially in such a big city and felt safer if he were able to wait at the hotel until later that afternoon when he would go to the airport. Steven was AMAZING. He told my son that the hotel would keep his luggage while at the appointment, and that when he returns, Steven would give him the pass key to have access to the gym, pool, and showers until it was time for the airport. My son was also allowed to receive his Uber eats there. What more could a 21 year old with a couple of hours to spare need. 😊 Thank you for helping to make a Mother who was all the way in another country, feel secure of her son's safety.

- 258izettas (10/5): Best little gem - This was a very pretty place with a pool for our family members who swim for exercise. We had a balcony and a kitchen in our room. We needed a kitchen so we didn’t have to go to a restaurant for every meal. The restaurant in the hotel was good as well and we spent many hours in the lobby , eating and hanging out with family in a quiet, cozy place. What was most extraordinary was the service. We had a number of needs with elderly family members and the staff was so willing to do extra for us to make our stay easy and comfortable( like find a place that rented electric scooters and store it in the lobby for us when we needed it )… and always with a smile. Very fine hotel experience.

They billed me for 4 nights and still haven t refunded the one night overcharge. It s been 20 days now they don t even respond after saying they were “checking with accounting” I intend to complain to American Express as well.
- L4589DBginas (2/5): Horrible experience for 38th Anniversary at The Marmara Hotel. It was a very poorly kept room. - Our stay at this hotel was an absolute disappointment, especially since it was meant to be a special wedding anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were rude and unprofessional. We even witnessed them yelling at several other guests — completely unacceptable behavior for any hotel, let alone one that claims to offer hospitality. The room itself was in terrible condition: stained rugs, scratched furniture, and a large gap under the door that let in light and hallway noise all night. It was impossible to relax. We contacted the front desk several times for help but were told there were no other rooms available. Overall, this was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. Poor service, poor maintenance, and zero accountability from management. I would strongly discourage anyone from booking here until serious improvements are made.

Checkin was made easy by Yoan, who made sure we knew the amenities of the hotel and was very friendly and welcoming. Next was the spacious room with enough room to fully open my suitcase and not bump into every time I walked into it. The room was well apppointed with toiletries, iron, and hair dryer. Loved having a kitchenette and a terrace to enjoy the NY skyline. Can’t wait to return and enjoy another stay!

- Estelle (8/5): Séjour agréable . - J’ai pas eu de prendre le petit déjeuné , ni le déjeuné ni le dîner , mais l’hôtel ne dispose pas vraiment d’une grande salle de restaurent , par contre les chambres sont vraiment équipé de balcon et elles sont confortables, le personnel aussi est très sympathique et ils en a qui parlent bien français , par contre faite attention aussi ils vous chargent aussi 100$ la nuit de caution . Donc si vous faite 5 nuits cela vous fera 500$ de caution . J’ai quitté il y’a une semaine et j’ai toujours pas été remboursé . J’attend de l’être . Donc il est bon à savoir pour prévoir . Le montant de la caution que les hôtels otennent maintenant au usa est énorme pratiquement tous prennent 100$ la nuit de caution .

The staff was extremely helpful and courteous and there was plenty of food & shopping options within a walking distance. The subway is a few steps away and very convenient to use as well. We would stay here again!

My son got sick on one of the days, and everyone at the hotel went above and beyond to make him (and us) feel better. Just exceptional, not staying anywhere else when we visit NYC. The hotel itself is also wonderful, the pool being an added benefit in the sweltering weather. Thank you Marmara!

The Chef also is the head chef at Rezdora who many leading chefs consider the finest Italian place in town. The food is wonderful and filled with flavor. Good selection of pastas snd main dishes. Service is very, very high and excellent. I would tell anyone to rush to eat here. Bravo!!

- O4291YSdane (10/5): Welcoming and friendly experience - In the past few years, we have stayed at three different hotels in New York City. The Marmara is by far the best one we have stayed at. It is in a great location for access to NYC Langdon Hospital along with walking distance to Time Square, Central Park, shopping and great food. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The hotel is also bright updated and clean. I will definitely be staying here the next time I am in New York.

The kettle was not working and I had to call for a resolution. Soap was not provided at the bathroom sink. Simple expectations that were not met. Wrote to the Manager but did not get a response. Overall impression was that there was no care put into making a guest feel welcomed.

I have a theory it is because I am from Cyprus and the owner Gochan is Turkish. He is angry at Cyprus because the South never gave in to Turkish rule. This is a theory someone else told me. I have no evidence.
