- Michelle (6/5): Room was nice, but Spa was sadly very poor - The room.was a nice size and perfect for our needs, but we booked the Spa facilities for the morning and literally nothing was working, and there were two young couples frolicking around in the pool, which made it feel uncomfortable to get in, they were also noisy, so it was not at all a relaxing experience, we were going to book for two hours but aftrer about 30 mins we decided to leave and when we advised the staff of this we requested a refund, and were told we could not have one and that the manager would email us,y they did not. We were told that other people had complained about the young couples and that they were just about to go and speak with them (this was after we had got changed and were leaving). Answered above

- Amanda Marklew (8/5): Hidden qualities - The authentic building & history was very beautiful, our room was a perfect location to access the wedding venue we attended which was sensational. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable, an excellent size bathroom Inc a deep bath. The beds are not Queen beds they are 2 small doubles, pushed together they would be. There was no complimentary water, and only half a roll of toilet roll. I called reception and they did replace the items only after we left the room an hour later, and they did make our beds professionally despite me doing a rush job ❤️ there was also some sick stains on the curtains only seen when the curtains weren't open and backed up by a crusty step out of bed under foot where the carpet has been cleaned, nothing terribly bad that I wouldn't return I've been to worse and we didn't do breakfast looking at the reviews there's plenty of cafes around. I don't think anything would be a problem if you ask. The wedding was absolutely fantastic everything was perfect x

We complained at reception to ask why this was hotel policy and the explanation was to keep the numbers down. What about a booking system? I have never come across a hotel that charges guest extra to use the facilities. We assumed that the price was on the more expensive side because there was a pool.

- garybI8616ZT (6/5): First Poor Experience of Hilton Hotels - We stayed for 3 nights for the Grand National Festival 2026 and although the building from the outside is very impressive, the rooms for the vastly inflated prices do not support this whatsoever. Our room on the 5th floor had a non existent heating system and Liverpool was freezing over the Grand National Festival, also a bathroom that had a swivel tap over the basin that was not supposed to be a swivel tap, and a bath panel that was 2 inches short of the lip of the bath? The staff are brilliant and cannot do enough for you but sadly they cannot do anything about the rooms or the hotels policies. This brings me onto Saturday night 11 April 2026 (Grand National Day)!! We went out for dinner after returning from Aintree and returned to our room at around 8.30pm and discovered a wedding reception going on in one of the function rooms on the 1st floor. We were on the 5th floor and it was really annoying after a tiring day to be kept awake for an hour and a half, by the constant thud, thud, thud coming from the function room 4 floors below!! Sadly, this hotel and location is not the greatest in the Hilton family and wont put us off staying with Hilton again, but it wont be this one!

We received an email from booking.com saying thank you for your stay on the day we were due to arrive. This made me panic that I had booked the wrong day. Apparently its a thing that booking.com do and they are trying to sort out.

- davidvC1807HL (10/5): Wonderful Attentive Service and Amenities at a Historic Hotel - My family and I had a wonderful stay in this historical and wonderfully furnished hotel. The room was spacious, the bathroom very high end and huge, and the service was impeccable. We especially appreciated the attentiveness and kindness of Kyle, who greeted us each morning at breakfast with a smile and a lovely chat. It made us feel both valued and welcomed. We will most definitely return!

The pastry and fruit selection was really poor. The spa shouldn't be called a spa it was dire. None of the lockers worked in the male or female. The jacuzzi was out of service . The ladder to climb out of the pool felt like it was about to fall off! There was no water in the room.

What really stood out was the service – especially Antoni, the duty manager, who was incredibly kind and attentive. As we are deaf, he made sure our stay was safe and comfortable, even providing a vibration alert system in case of emergency. We’ve stayed in many hotels before and have never experienced this level of care and understanding. It’s a shame our stay was so short, but overall everything else – the location, atmosphere, and facilities – was excellent.

Great breakfast with delicious fresh juice and lots of options to choose from. The spa was really lovely, very friendly staff and definitely worth a visit. Great location in centre of the city. No water in the rooms, not acceptable for a 4 star hotel and told to just drink the tap water but no glasses in the room for this and tap water tasted bad anyway, as it always does in the UK! No coffee machine in the room, instant sachets and a kettle only. They did brink a bottle of water up for me to my room which was nice. No proper coffee at breakfast, machine only. Shame…

- Brian-Cluskey (2/5): Poor wedding venue - Well, where to start? Venue was for a wedding. Vastly overpriced to stay there so stayed elsewhere. Firstly the venue is not ideal for any social gathering. Why? Bar is way too small and causes long queues. We were told there was another bar on ground floor, good luck finding it. When I eventually did, they had run out of Guinness and had one choice of red wine. Not ideal. When I eventually found my way back via a range of warrens, dead ends and trip hazards a plenty. Once there I joined the bar queue that was the norm for the evening, at least they had Guinness but one red wine, really? For a large establishment- shocking. Now onto the toilets, it was like looking for the holy grail. Eventually down three flights of stairs I was met with a very messy gents. At no stage was that mess addressed, ok It's people but for the name and very expensive venue- a poor service. Womens were I believe worse. If you're thinking of this for an advent, I'd say avoid. The place is not fit for purpose
- chrisjT9275TT (2/5): disaster - I attended this wedding as a guest and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The venue was cold throughout the evening. Several guests asked multiple times for the heating to be turned on, but nothing changed. It was uncomfortable and made it difficult to enjoy the event. The drink selection was very poor. There was only one type of wine available, no juices, and no soda. At one point even the lemonade ran out and wasn’t restocked. When we asked for prosecco or beers, we were told that only warm ones were available, and there was no Guinness either. The only whisky available was JD, and there was no brandy at all. The bar was clearly understaffed, with only two bartenders trying to serve all of us. The toilets were also messy and not well maintained during the event. It was also difficult to get any issues addressed, as the manager barely spoke English.

It closes at half 5, I checked in at half 5 so completely pointless and there were about 4 other better and cheaper hotels available plus the WiFi didn’t work
