Guest Reviews
- Jheel (6/5): - Nice place and area but rooms were very small not much place to keep luggage for 3 person and not much of a mobility too if 3 are living in one room.
Gets too hot in the night we dint knew there was a knoe to rotate to modify the temperature so first night felt like a steam and it geta noisy when there are more residents in the hostel.
Other living area and kitchen was good.
If you are a coffee person like me who adds creamer or milk in the coffee please get some milk from the kronan store or have some creamers with you. They might not have that in the hostel
- Jennifer (8/5): - Stayed in the back hostel-older building and the stair case and rooms are small but perfect for a traveller on their way
- Terri (6/5): - This is a hostel, not a hotel or guesthouse. Rooms were up a very steep stair. One toilet for the entire floor, and it ran out of t.p..Shower is downstairs. Big enough and clean, but the drain backed up. Not good. Kitchen was nice and big. Common area was good.
- Sharon (8/5): - Clear information to check in at puffin hotel. Nice, friendly staff. Great for one night stop overs which is what we did. Very comfy beds with lovely pillows and quilts. Good kitchen facilities to prepare and cook meals and several shared showers and toilet facilities which were very clean. Old building, but well maintained with colourful interior.
- Nicolette (10/5): - This was my first hostel experience. It was great!
- yan xiang (8/5): - Clean and nice
- SAMANTHA (6/5): - Very small old building, doors were short, my son kept bumping his head, bathroom was not on same floor and stairs were very steep. Bathroom ran out of tp. Very loud! Everyone echoes through the building, can hear everything.. doors slamming all night long. Did not get much sleep at all.
- mellisa (8/5): - The place is really cute and has a lot of character. The rooms are really clean and the place has everything you need. It's centrally located but just beware that there are no puffins lounging around. If you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs because the house is pretty creaky.
- Jun (10/5): - Very clean and convenient
- Carrie (6/5): - The town of Vik is amazing and worth a visit. The Hostel was ok, a little noisy in the evening, but was a clean place to sleep.
- Cassidy (10/5): - Great little hostel with everything you will need for your stay! Staff was friendly and helpful!
- Charitylyn (10/5): - Convenient stay for a solo traveler.
- Loreen (6/5): - I got the room with the two bunk beds but the best was horrible! It felt like I was sleeping on a rock.
The kitchen was fully equipped with stuff which was great
- Lynn-marie (10/5): - It was nice and clean!
- Ian (8/5): - Excellent location. It’s a very clean hostel and in a great location.
- Jordi (8/5): - Un guesthouse equilibrado, vale la pena hacer un paseo hasta la playa.
Debidamente equipado y con unas habitaciones correctas.
No destacaríamos nada, para arriba ni para abajo, OK 👌
- Emma (8/5): - For a small price, the Puffin Hostel was lovely. Definitely an older building where you can hear others walking around, but the room was nice and clean and great for our stop through Vik!
- Loreylin (8/5): - Nice location and the rooms are clean
- Russell (10/5): - Property was great ! Very good free breakfast especially since Iceland is expensive.
Next door is a hostel to stay at which has a living area and kitchen too if the rooms are booked fully.
- That (10/5): - Good location and convenient check in.
- L (6/5): - Close to black beach, hiking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic and TLC needed - The reception of arrival was far from warm. The condition of the main staircase was not really great, narrow winding steps and a banister that was unstable. The rooms are basic, to be expected in a hostel, and the beds comfy. Staying with other hostel guests who left their rooms doors open made the stay slightly uncomfortable.
- Krikor (6/5): - Very creaky building where even the slightest noise will be heard by everyone. The restrooms are quite small and on the floor I stayed on there was only one. Kitchen and dining area were incredible but the room felt like I was in a mental asylum… and to add, my sheets were dirty and stained, I slept fully clothes as I was uncomfortable from touching the sheets. Location was convenient tho. I did the Katla Ice Caving (with Troll expedition) and the pick up point is right across the street.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok accom - Ok accommodation, rooms are tiny and its quite noisy at night as the walls are paper thin. The kitchen area is well equipped and there is a communal area to relax in.
- Rafael (10/5): - Nothing fancy, enough for sleep for one night. Clean and organized.
- Takahiro (10/5): - staffs were very kind and I could spent comfortable time.
- Kai Teck (8/5): - An old building located at Vik town. Our room on Level 3 and the only way was to climb up a spiral staircase. It was really a challenge for us to bring up 2 L Size luggages to the room. The room is narrow and beware of the door height which easily hit your head.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Great stay! - Great rate for simple rooms. We had a smaller room, but it was exactly as described. The hostel was very clean. And the common areas were very clean. Will stay again!
- Cody (8/5): - Not a bad place to spend a night, the bunk beds were loud every time you moved. Overall, I’d stay here again
- Janice (6/5): - Convenient place to stay for horseback riding the next morning.
- Shelley (8/5): - Older building with narrow stairs to climb the 3 floors. Rooms were small, walls were thin, it was clean.
- Fu (4/5): Didn’t worth the price - The room is too small, only 8x6 square feet,so it’s very uncomfortable. It didn’t worth it with the price. Also the staircase is too narrow and steep. It’s totally unsafe to travel up and down with luggage. Other than that everything is clean.
- NELSON (8/5): - The hostel/hotel is clean and affordable though you must consider these are hostoric buildings and therefore old and small. Beach is beautiful (volcanic), the town is nice except close to the beach where many buildings need a make up and have scrap. Vik is a good stop for food and gas.
- Wanvisa (8/5): - Right in the center of Vik city. Small room, but big shared dining room.
- Chengda (10/5): - High quality of service & facility. Clean rooms including shared bathrooms.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Awesome place to lay your head down for the night when exploring the south coast of Iceland. Super close to all attractions in Vik.
- Lucy (8/5): Great place - Great place to stay. Clean, with good facilities, and central location - good value for money.
The room was comfortable, just too hot!
Would recommend.
- Jay (10/5): - Friendly helpful check in, and comfortable room. Location is convenient too.
- nancy (8/5): - Very small room for 3 people. Kitchen small for a lot of people. But easy walk to one side of Black Sand Beach.
- Samantha (10/5): - Puffin hostel was so lovely and quaint. The kitchen and common areas were frequently cleaned. Vik was a really lovely area and it was easy to walk to everything or drive a few minutes to see waterfalls and black sand beaches!
- Nelo (4/5): - The property is old and looks like its not well maintained. The bottom of the bunk bed is sunked in the middle and very noisy when you move a little bit.
- Betsy (8/5): - Great location, easy to park, room was small but clean. Easy checkin process. Which the showers were on the bedroom floors as well.
- Elaine (10/5): - Great location. Very clean. Accommodating staff.
- Jen (8/5): - Very clean! Room was small but did the trick. Would stay again.
- Chetan (6/5): - Pros: renovated toilets and sinks, lots of washrooms, towels provided, well-stocked kitchen, large dining area
Cons: very creaky bunk bed, shower is not a continuous stream of water, shower water pools instantly, need more bowls in the kitchen, slippery stairs
- Clio (8/5): - Room was clean and warmed quickly, stayed 2 nights in end of December. I booked a private room, was a very basic room (as expected for the price, which I didn't mind), size of a closet. Smaller than a twin bed. If your looking to save money and just need a place to sleep, this is the place. You can hear people in the hallway, I'm a heavy sleeper so it didnt bother me. Only stayed there to sleep since I was out exploring the beautiful area.
- Jose Angel (8/5): - Great location. The smell in the lobby was strong.
- Daniel (10/5): A great inexpensive overnight stay. - Super nice reception, very pleasant! Room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Stayed in a two twin bed room. Showers, bathrooms on main floor have all been remodeled. Pleasantly surprised about the stay, more than I expected for the price. We also cooked dinner in the well-stocked guest kitchen.
- David (6/5): Lacks sound proofing, toilets are a hike! - Our room was on the top floor, and the toilets were a long way from the room down several sets of stairs.
There was also a lot of noise between the rooms, which was not caused by others being particularly noisy, just poor sound insulation.
The kitchen was well equipped and there was a large dining room. The showers were modern hot and clean, although you had to walk through the boot area to get the showers.
- Jordi (6/5): - Old building. Very thin walls that you get disturbed by any noise in the corridor or ground floor. Only 4 showers and 4 WC for the whole hostel.
