• Hossein (6/5): - The room is clean and bathroom shiny. Entrance and hallways narrow. Homeless people are lurking in the street outside. 150 is far too expensive for this place, maybe for half of that is a good place for an overnight stay.
• James (8/5): - Great location!!! 5 minute walk to streetcar stop on Parliament so easy access to go site seeing or explore the city. It’s a small room and a bit warm but it was just what we needed for a 5-day stay. Check-in was pretty straight forward and the host showed us all the features of the home. The one thing I’d mention is the fact that you cannot flush any toilet paper into the toilet due to sewage concerns. Not a deal breaker; but it’s worth noting to future guests if that’s something you don’t want to deal with. Overall it was a great stay and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a no-frills stay in the city :)

• Valerie (2/5): - Avoid Comfy Guest House! I was overcharged $110 CAD at check-in and threatened I wouldn’t get the key without paying. The owner was rude and unprofessional. The “Deluxe” room was tiny, dirty, and uncomfortable, and the shared bathroom was unsanitary. Definitely not “comfy” — stay away!
• Karen (6/5): - Paying in cash upon arrival quite difficult as we had come from a different country. Seemed a bit off to me as well...avoiding fees? Didn't realise we'd be sharing a bathroom with more than 1 other room. Had to wait often to use facilities. Toilet system old so couldn't flush toilet paper, so putting it into a bin was a bit gross. Especially when it was shared toilet. Shared kitchen area was handy but with so many tenants sometimes you had to wait. The stuff we had in fridge was thrown away before our last day. Mostly clean, but vents, walls, windowsill etc have clearly never been cleaned. Ever.
• Alexandar (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay in Comfy Guest House, Toronto. Prrfect place to live in Toronto downtown area with comfortable temperature in very hot summer. Best thing of comfy guest house is obeying rules & regulations those are important for the comfort of everyone stayed there. At the time of check-in Property Manager brefied me very well about the rules. She also brefied about food store etc whenever i asked.
• ALEXANDER (8/5): Comfy! - This was indeed a comfy guest house! The owner was lovely, she gave me a tour of the facilities on arrival and was kind enough to arrange a late check in with me due to my flight's arrival time. She also pointed out the local convenience stores and supermarkets which was super helpful as a newbie to the area. The guest house's location is great. It's a reasonable walking distance to the Dundas Eaton centre and well connected with streetcar routes less than a block away. The bed was very comfortable, although showing its age a little. The room was equipped with a mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and the shower was excellent. The only downside is the area's old plumbing which prevents toilet roll being flushed down the toilet, although the owner has measures in place to make this as painless as possible. All in all I would recommend this location, especially for the price paid. I would happily stay again if I was in the area.
• Vincent (6/5): - Pros: It's cheaper than a hotel, and it's pretty clean except for the bathroom situation I will describe below. Cons: You have to throw toilet paper in a bin. If this was a developing country it wouldn't lower my score, but this is Canada. They said it was because their pipes would have issues and clog. If they want to blame Toronto's plumbing that's fine, but in any case the least they could do is install some bidets on every toilet. It would greatly reduce the amount of toilet paper being used and thrown into the trash can. Also they said no showers after 11pm which I did find mildly restricting because it forced me to return to the hotel earlier than I would have liked in order to take a shower. Suggestion: Install some bidets.
• Vincent (4/5): - I booked two rooms here so I guess that means I can leave two reviews. My first review I gave it a 3/5, but now that I think about it more there was even more negatives than I remembered to include in my first review. Pros: Cheap and relatively clean except for the toilet situation. Cons: Asked to put used toilet paper in a bin instead of flushing. Showers expected to stop after 11pm. They only take 20% of the cost from credit card, and the other 80% you have to pay in cash. The check in process took way too long. People dont need to be shown how to turn a key on the handle. They expected to give a check in time so someone could meet us and show us around. We had a train delay and uncertain dinner plans which made checkin times into the hotel annoying, and I felt bad for giving the staff a time we were 45 minutes late by which we had no control over (because of a train delay). Suggestion: Install bidets into the toilets to reduce the toilet paper issue. Each one costs less than $50 and can be installed in 20 minutes.

• Guy (6/5): - Bordering a sketchy couple of roads, the property was in need of updating (bathroom was good though). Furniture seemed second hand, visible blown plaster due to damp but AC was fine. Check in was a chore being shown how to use a key!! Host not easily findable when wanting clean towels etc. Was quiet and secure. You get what you pay for in this instance.
• Jun (4/5): - The administration does minimum to maintain the place. The carpets seem dirty and wasn’t be vacuumed often. The walls on the bathroom are not clean. The beds are creaking and the room is very small, the space in between two beds are way too narrow like 20 cm tat one person cannot stand, no place to put baggages and bags.People came back late and wash dishes at 2-3 am. Someone cooked fish and the fishy smell retained in the whole place for two days. It was the worst experience for me. If the place is taken good care it can be a cozy house.

• Maritza (10/5): - Had an amazing stay at the comfort guest house in Cabbagetow in downtown Toronto. We had the one bedroom with private washroom. It was a clean and comfortable spot for us while we spent our days out and about exploring Toronto. My only suggestion is for there to be blinds on the windows or some type of way to close up the curtains as the windows face the street and there are people in the buildings across the street that I feel can peek through into the room. Other than that the room and experience was very pleasant! Would definitely recommend for any travelers looking for a place that is cozy and conveniently located in/near downtown Toronto.
• Joe (4/5): Inadequate Toilet - I expect a private bathroom to include a working toilet, and I expect a working toilet to be able to flush toilet paper. I guess this toilet mostly worked, but it couldn't flush toilet paper. Their solution of having a receptacle next to the toilet did work, but I feel that I should have been informed of this situation before I booked the room. Otherwise, the place wasn't too bad and is a viable option for someone that wants to save money on relatively low-cost lodging.

It is unpleasant to have to walk an unknown city with hundreds in cash on your person, and is extra nuisance to acquire the cash before travel. I strongly suggest to get a card machine, and I would be very happy to pay whatever fees are involved.

Outside city center, but all major sites are within one hour walk. Or, trolleys are nearby. Ethnic eateries close, but my favorite was Stout Pub around the block. I think a family lived above my room. They were sometimes noisy but quiet after 10. So, all worked well for me.

The host Vivienne was very informative and helpful upon arrival and there was great communication leading up to the booking date too. The room was good for a quick stay. We arrived late but still managed to find dinner walking distance at an irish pub. Downtown centre for shopping was about 20min walk and train station was about 30. We don’t mind walking so this was perfect for us. The only down side was not being able to flush our toilet paper and having to remember to bin it but that was only a small issue, everything else was great. This is perfect if your looking for a short affordable stay in downtown.

• Patrick (2/5): An unfortunate rooming house feel - Firstly, I’m a veteran traveler, with a very forgiving nature. But this was an unfortunate experience. The proprietors demand a portion of the payment in cash, which felt strange to me. There is a really lovely Egyptian lady who greeted me at the door, told me to remove my shoes before entering to take my payment And showed me the room. It really feels more like a rooming house than a hotel. I know there have been generous people review this place kindly, but my experience was negative.There is an open kitchen on the second level with seemingly local people playing loud music and yelling. The room was at the end of the hallway and had no heat during a cold November day. I actually left And booked a proper hotel. For somebody looking for an inexpensive room, this might be suitable. I left the key on the doorstep, and the owner had my number and rather than offering me a rebate was harassing me for an extra $60 because they couldn’t find the key. It does not feel good to have to leave a negative review. :-( it felt like the owners live in the basement possibly and also there is a real Whiff about the place.

Or if you like to explore like me...the area is safe and walkable. It is situated in an area convenient with shops...dining...and groceries. Tourist attractions such as Eaton Center and Dunges Square are not far away. Staff is nice and facility is neat.

It is an old colonial house. It would walk me up from sleep at night (Exhausting) .Room is inside without sun (Not a good room). Choose a different room. - I had to remove curtains and small carpet because of my allergy. - Owner mandates full Cash payment of the remaining balance upon arrival. You have to arrange for it in advance. I suggest to choose a different room that is sunny and with private washroom.

• Balou (10/5): - A lot of construction in front of the Guesthouse made it a bit noisy inside. Apart from that our luxury suite and patio outside was divine. We had a great mini fridge and microwave and the queen-size bed was great. The only real challenge is the fact the luxury suite is on the very top floor and there are 2 flights of stairs to climb. Heavy, bulky bags are not advised. I suppose you could say it was very good for exercise as long as you don't have a heart condition! Great affordable accommodation!

• April (8/5): - I was pleasantly surprised with our stay. Vivian was absolutely lovely and welcoming. The room size is large, clean and comfortable. It was incredibly quiet at night for sleeping. Stayed on third floor the room - floor boards are very creaky I was okay with it but wondered if it bothered anyone below us. Three improvements that could be had - the last staircase leading to third floor could use refreshing, Food odor from others cooking wasn’t very pleasant, and lastly in this day and age why cash for final payment?! Very inconvenient and it made me feel like maybe my booking wasn’t legit. Luckily it was fine but seriously please accept electronic funds!

• Jordan (6/5): - My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. The location was convenient for public transport and they offered parking for extra fee. The room itself was nice, clean and functional. The experience was dreadful. The attitude of the owner and manager was extremely rule centric (200 rules for everything, do it like this or don't do that) and their attitude was to blame guests. The first night the extremely loud smoke detector went off in the middle of the night at 3:30am. It woke everyone up (like 10 ppl) freaked everyone out and it continued to go off for 20 mins. During this time the live-in property manager zoomed around to smell everyone's room (without asking) because she assumed someone was smoking/vaping in their room. After everyone insisted that they weren't (at 3:30am!) she refused to consider that there may be a problem with the system or the house. The next day all guests again insisted they weren't smoking, while the manager again insisted someone smoked. That night at 10pm while everyone was in their rooms, the alarm went off again. Same situation.. we all gathered and the manager got the owner on the phone. He also insisted someone had to be smoking. We had to shout at him strenuously that he should consider that there may be a problem with the system (longer stay guests reported that it had also gone off multiple times in previous days). Finally he agreed to send someone the next day. The alarm went off again that night at 4am. Wouldn't recommend.

• Anton (10/5): Happy stay - Great guesthouse experience! The host was very nice and showed me how everything works. The room is well-decorated and has a gorgeous city view. Also, beside private bathroom, there's personal access to the patio. All in all great place to stay for a few days, definitely recommend.

• Rajwant (4/5): - The owner full on admitted at check-in that they PURPOSELY falsely advertise about parking as "parking available" and not mention the fee so that they dont lose potential customers. Turns out parking is $15 per night - totally understandable and reasonable but to admit thay to a guest at check in is disgusting operating behavior and not professional by any means. There are also many strict rules posted randomly around the house. Such as, their locks are pretty tricky and if you dont maneuver them in the EXACT specific way you might break it and you would then be charged for replacing it. Another strange rule was no toilet paper in the toilet or you could be fined. The neighborhood was quaint and had an old time charm which i quite enjoyed. Unfortunately I woke up to my driver side window smashed even with no valuables in sight. It was not a pleasant stay for me at all. This will not be my first choice to stay next time, but I guess, in the end, you get what you pay for...

• Randy (8/5): Simple Clean and Convenient - This is a home located a 15 minute walk to the Yonge subway or a 3 minute walk to a streetcar that takes you to the subway. All transit works on a tap credit/debit card. (Best Transit Innovation I have seen in a long time) The area from the hotel to Yonge street is basically a university area. That is who I saw walking on the street for the most part. It is a converted house where some rooms share a bathroom and a kitchen. The rooms are like the guest room in my own home. It is not like a hotel. Some of the articles are worn but all worked. The front room does have some road noise but it is not a busy road at night. Owners are not on site but they had excellent communication with me as I had delays getting into Toronto. They ask you to bring your balance in cash. While this is basically in a area with University students I was uncomfortable walking down the street with $500 in my pocket. They really need to change that. I would recommend Keurig machines in the rooms. I had access to a coffee maker in the kitchen, but who is travelling with a pound of coffee and filters. I really liked this spot it worked well for me and I would use it again.

• shivam (2/5): - This is the worst stay ever, rude & unprofessional behaviour from hostess, didn’t even spent the night because of the way she was treating her guest she refuse to give any money back including parking fee. Ridiculous amoung of privacy breach and nonsense talking.
• Adam (10/5): - Great location, great price and an awesome little breakfast - beds are also comfortable.
• Ludivine (8/5): Not the best - From the beginning it was quite difficult to communicate with the host, and always felt like we were bothering him with our questions. The replies were always quite abrupt, on the verge of being rude. Check-in was very slow and long winded (after a long journey all we wanted was a quick check in and use of the bathroom- they were advised of the delay) and were made to feel like idiots. Mo friendly chat or even hello by manager when passed in in evening and felt uncomfortable when waiting to use the bathroom early evening while it was being cleaned and the person was having a very loud and unpleasant conversation on the phone. Mattresses were good although the one in the suite our first two nights made a lot of noise when moving on top of the bed noises. It was sufficient enough for just sleeping in but didn’t feel welcome or fully relaxed. Rules seemed to be for some not others….

• Gabriel (2/5): - property manger was very helpful, but I was disappointed with the size of the room, in the photograph it showed a different room, much bigger and nicer looking, so It was deceiving. Some tenants would play loud music late at night.

• Aubrey (10/5): - We stayed in the top floor suite, had its own bathroom which was great. Had 1 queen & 1 single bed- beds were satisfactory. Very spacious- sitting area & deck to ourselves. Was a little warm, used fans all the time- it was early Oct and unseasonably warm and a/c was turned off. Our sons stayed in the small room with twin beds. It was tiny but serviceable- was noisy as right near kitchen used by guests. Staff were friendly & accommodating. We had to check in late and staff were accommodating. Area was great- check out Chew Chew’s for fabulous bfast at a great price, friendly staff. Wonderful supper at House on Parliament as well. Would stay here again.
• Marcos (8/5): Good for the price - My first experience in a guest house. This one is well located, has very good internet, shared fridge and kitchen. The room is small, has a desk a bed and space for nothing else but it was clean. There are cameras everywhere but maybe it could not be different, considering it's a guest house.
