Guest Reviews
- Todd (8/5): - There was no specific address in Expedia, so Google maps took us to a residential area about a km from the hotel. Fortunately, the hotel was on the same road, so it was easy to see after driving further.
Once there, the check in was easy and the hotel was very quiet.
The service was good and the bar and restaurant were nice.
- Denise (6/5): - Basic hotel, clean, meals available on property.
- Gustaf (10/5): - While it was nice to get a last minute room, the both chairs in the room were broken.
- Michael (10/5): Chasing The Rainbow - Nice stay while i looked around area and as well visited family
- Michele (10/5): - Struttura decentrata, tipico motel con personale gentilissimo ed ottimo cibo.
Camera enorme.
- CHARLES (4/5): - Poo in the toilet; shower controls not working; thin matress; room needs a re-hab. Helpful staff; not expensive. Food could be a little more modern.
- David (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel, last minute booking.
Only thing to dissapoint, breakfast didnt start until 8am, i needed to be in work by then.
Room was very comfortable, i slept well
- Trevor (10/5): - Friendly staff and the food was top notch!
- James (10/5): Nice comfy large pub hotel - Booked this place about an hour before checking in as we needed somewhere to stay. Our check in was promptly dealt with and we made our way to our rooms via the stairs. The lift was out of action but this wasn't a problem as we are both physically fit. Afterwards we had a meal in the traditional and comfortable looking bar/restaurant area. The room was spacious and the heating was already on which is useful at this time of year. The bathroom has signs of wear and tear but everything worked. My room was around the back of the building so was quiet. Those at the front may hear traffic noise but this will largely disappear when the bypass opens.
- Elaine (8/5): - Staff was friendly, and the meal in the restaurant was delicious!
- Paul (6/5): One night stay - Room a bit dated, but clean. Dinner was excellent, great quality food, staff very friendly.
- Bernadette (10/5): - Good value for money
- Pat (10/5): Always a pleasure staying here - Always a pleasure staying here. Clean modern rooms, comfortable bed and pillows, good food and friendly service. What more could you ask for?
- Sharon Qianqian (10/5): Great stay - Very nice

- Grahame (8/5): - Nice people

Great breakfast
- Shirley (10/5): - Had a lovely relaxing stay at this family run hotel. Great service from friendly staff. Very welcoming. Clean well run hotel. Fantastic food central to driving the ring off Birr and the ring of Kerry also not to far from Tralee and lots of other places we thoroughly enjoy our 4 nights in this hotel and would return without a doubt
- Iohn (10/5): - Friendly staff
Good food
- rhiannon (8/5): - This hotel could do a bit more to create a welcoming atmosphere, the reception, restaurant, bar and rooms lacked on lighting and comfort but were very clean. Also this hotel was listed as having laundry facilities, one of the main reasons we chose it, it does not. However, the food more than makes up for this, it is excellent and delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful.
- Tara (8/5): Great Value for Solo Travellers - Great value hotel for the time of year. I was travelling alone, so I appreciated only paying a single person rate for the large double room that I had. The staff were friendly and helpful and rooms spotlessly clean. Only issue is the thinnness of walls between rooms, but it woudn't stop me staying here again.
- declan (10/5): Ideal 3 star hotel to visit west cork - Great hotel to visit the Gaeltacht of west Cork.
Clean and neat, just like 3 star hotels should be. Home baking and some local foods for breakfast were a lovely bonus.
Please note : this is an Irish speaking area, but the locals can chat to you in English if you wish. All good. Sásta!
- Angela (10/5): - Would recommend the Abbey hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming.Food was excellent could not fault it dessert was scrumptious also great portions for dinner and dessert hard to finish.Room was spotless and bed very comfortable.
- Elaine (8/5): - Very pleasant stay for overnight business trip. Clean room, friendly staff and excellent food in onsite bar
- Frank (10/5): Abbey Hotel 02/21 - Excellent food and good staff. Only problems were rtoom could have been warmer and ceiling had lots
- brendan (10/5): Stay in Ballyvourney - Stayed two nights in this hotel which is situated on the Cork side of the Cork Kerry border.
The hotel offers great value for money.
My room was spacious and spotlessly clean with comfortable bed and en-suite.
The country side offers many interesting walks.
I enjoyed an evening meal in bar and was well satisfied.
The breakfast each morning was plentiful and set me up for the day.
I would recommend this hotel and have no hesitation in returning again if in the area.
- Karen (8/5): - Service was ok . Room was cold tv not working . Hotels.com said 45 euros but they charged me 50 euros but i was only there for one night it did the job
- Joe (10/5): Abbey ballyvourney Joe thought it was great - Check in was 11.25pm
Great no fuss
For a Saturday night
Breakfest yum
Sleep with no noise brilliant
TV a bit small only negative
But didn't go to watch tv
- Paul (10/5): - Quiet place and great food. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fab hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Was surprised as i was never there before . Its an old hotel but the room's are spotless and the beds are very comfortable .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a really pleasant Hotel to stay in. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and pleasant. Had a good nights sleep and enjoyable stay at this friendly family run hotel and would highly recommend it to others visiting the Cork/Kerry region and reasonably priced.
- Steven (6/5): Hotel Stay - Hotel was clean and easy to access from the road. The place is locked evening to dawn but you are provided a key to enter and exit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice. You get very good food in a very nice location.
- David (8/5): Few days away at Xmas - Hotel price was good. Room ws cold when I arrived but soon warmed up when I put the heater on. Not many channels on the TV. Water was hot in bathroom. Cold tap a little faulty on sink. Bar was a locals bar and noisy (although not audible from the room) with a good atmosphere. Wifi was fine but did go down one morning.
Hotel is around a 15 min walk from the bus stop. Guests should be aware that if travelling by bus from Killarney then the last bus out to Ballyvourney village is at 18:30 and a taxi out will be expensive. Obviously this is for information only and out fo the control of the hotel.
In all, enjoyed my stay.
- Antony (8/5): - Chambre propre au calme dans un hôtel apprécié des irlandais.
- Andrew (8/5): - Pleasant staff. Family friendly. The food in the friendly 'pub-like' dining room was good and great value. Good internet. We got a clean and spacious family room. The hotel is quiet and comfortable though a bit rambling, It looks like extension has been added to extension over recent years, giving long corridors and frequent level changes.
- Kim (8/5): - Lovely area nice stay. Basic hotel
- Alahaha (6/5): Basic - Wasn't expecting to have a room in the house next door! Very basic. One bedside lamp and that didn't work. No hairdryer. Waste pipe from toilet was a tumble drier hose! Dread to think of inside of pipe. Green light showing escape door (the only door I might add) was inside our room and obviously stayed on all night.
That staff were lovely. The linen was clean. Shame about the accommodation.
- Keith (6/5): good value - One night stay, property is dated and could do with upgrade but the staff were pleasant and helpful while the food was very good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We only stayed for one night .but we were made very welcome .the food was very good and good atmosphere in the bar
- JaLiS (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - Mary and Joanne were so friendly and worked hard to find us a room. We came in later in evening when they were full yet they found room for us. This was very much appreciated. We enjoyed their pub with the trad (traditional) music and food nibblers. Breakfast was good and staff was super. Would stay again.
- Ross (4/5): Eat dinner here and then move along. - Stayed one night on the way back from a driving tour of west Cork. The price was very low. However next time I will pay more to stay someplace nicer. The walls were paper thin so we were up all night due to the noise in the hall and the room next to us (they weren't exceptionally loud, we just could hear every word they said). I had concerns with the cleanliness - stains on items that shouldn't have stains. Really outdated - the tv was ancient. Wifi was impossible to connect to anywhere in the hotel. The highlight was dinner - the food is very good and a great value and the service in the bar was great. I'll stop again for dinner but never again stay the night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): weekend in october - We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was comfortable and warm on a damp weekend.
The twin room was perfect for a parent and child and we got a good rate by booking on line. The family made us welcome.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not a bad hotel for a night's stay - The room was very quiet despite the band in the pub downstairs. The wifi in the public area was fast. The staff were very accomodating and kept the kitchen open for us when we arrived so we could have some food. Would stay here again if I were to go back to the area.
- Karen (8/5): a good find - delicious food served until 9pm..bar open till 12am...included breakfast tasty and had fresh fruit and yogurt...friendly service
- Dominic (8/5): Abbey Hotel - Nice, quiet hotel located in a small village 30 minutes from Cork and Killarney. Friendly and helpful staff, with a good bar/restuarant.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Its the simple things that trip you up - The breakfast was tasty and while the service was not exactly with a smile, it was pleasant none the less. The guest room was let down by an attention to detail. The shower curtain hung about 15 cm above the edge of the bath and required some level of skill to prevent the floor from flooding while showering. It would be in the hotel's best interest to lower the spring-loaded shower rail a few cm before a less-conscientious guest floods the bathroom and the ceiling of the room below. The cleaning person's bucket of glass-cleaner and furniture polish was found in the room when I entered it. The metal plate at the top of the hot tap was detached and had previously been repaired with a blob of silicone sealant which no-longer glued the plate in place. The over-enthusiastic house keeping staff entered the room without knocking at 11:07 AM, obviously because check-out must have been at 11:00 AM. Overall this is a pleasant hotel so it is frustrating that these little details, which are not costly to put right and are due to human error/lack of attention to detail, are what let it down.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not terrible but I wouldn't recommend it. - A place to rest your head. Hotel is run down and out of the way. Cleanliness wAs debatable. However staff were nice.
