Guest Reviews
- Caryl (8/5): Okay - Cleanest and convenient The bed was very uncomfortable and the headboard was not attached
- Amanda (3/5): - View from the beach front is nice the room itself was not great. Bed was super uncomfortable. Not enough/small lumpy pillows. The blackout curtains don’t fully block out the light from the window that overlooks the hall which had bright lights all night long. It was also so loud. You could hear everything. Talking, music, baking… all night long. Tv also didn’t work and the furniture was old/gross.

- Bodelsson (4/5): - Friendly stafff. In need of renovation.
- Junior J (10/5): -
- Brannon (7/5): Beautiful View - The view was one of a kind. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly & professional. .No parking on site. Made it difficult to travel and see the sights. On the days when the cruise ships came in it became overcrowded
- Nordine (9/5): - Très bon emplacement face mer, personnel au top.
- Sopha (8/5): -
- Federico (7/5): Cómodo y buena ubicación. - Ubicación Un poco antiguo y sin opciones (no gimnasio o restaurantes).
- Maggie (8/5): Lovely place! - Right on the beach! Bed was a little hard for me.

- Jamie (8/5): GREAT LOCATION- DOESN'T GET BETTER - Loved the location, the staff was super nice, the place was good. Wished the bathroom/shower had been cleaned a little deeper. The only real disappointment was the master bathroom in the suite doe snot have a wall, just a curtain and that should be disclosed when renting. Would totally stay there again, but not in the suite. Overall a good stay. The master did not have a wall, just a curtain, and that wasn't acceptable for privacy, everything else was great-
- jessome (8/5): - Location
- Roxanne (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Convenience and space Ability to park
- Haileyb638 (2/5): NOT going to ask my dad to shower in his room! - Hot water & AC (TV too- but priorities) went out- mgr’s solution: “your dad’s staying here too- go ask to use his shower/chill out in his room.” OR he offered to call my dad’s room to ask on my behalf”… I’m in my late 40s traveling with my hubs- full stop we’re NOT bothering my dad bc your hotel is broken! FIX that- MY dad is not the solution for your hotel issues & craptastic customer service . WTH?

- Michael (5/5): Depressing - Relatively little I’m afraid. We’d booked a penthouse with two bedrooms for four adults almost a year ago to be told on arrival it was out for maintenance. The previous day to arrival we’d received an email to check our ETA and when I mentioned why we weren’t told about the room at that time, it was because it had been taken out of service that morning. Unfortunately I didn’t believe this at the time and still don’t. We were instead given two double rooms (that weren’t available on booking.com a year earlier). Our room was large with a lounge but SO dated. The windows to the sea didn’t shut properly so we used the (recommended for personal safety!) shutters all the time. The hotel (and I’ll come back to that) is front line but a pretty depressing building. The room needed a complete upgrade as felt old and depressing. From the bedroom there is a shuttered window to the stairwell that did nothing to block any noise from anyone passing by. The beds were rock hard and pillows similar. Bizarrely, I slept really well but put that down to a days travelling beforehand. And finally the hotel. It has no bar nor restaurant. It it basically a series of rooms / apartments with a small reception. I don’t understand how this can be called a hotel? The only reason I haven’t been more negative with the review is that the gentleman on reception was very helpful getting our bags to the taxi on our departure.

- JAM2012 (6/5): OK beachfront hotel for a short stay. Nothing fancy. - Philipsburg is best avoided but if you had to stay there this is a fairly decent hotel, even if a little frayed around the edges. It is right on the boardwalk. We had a very large room with a separate living room overlooking the beach and kitchenette. There is no patio but you can open the front window completely to feel like you’re sitting outside. The large king bed is comfortable. The kitchenette is minimally stocked. It is very expensive but that seems to be the norm for Philipsburg. The main problem was the lack of sound insulation. The reception is not very helpful so don’t rely on them for information. OK for a couple of days but I wouldn’t recommend for longer.
- Loren (8/5): Clean comfortable hotel right on the beach. Friendly and helpful staff -
- thi tuyet dung (6/5): Les personnels sont gentils. - Au centre La réception au 1er étage sans ascenseur ! Avec des bagages !!!

- sabrinazO6186YG (2/5): ABSOLUTELY HORRIBE!! NEVER AGAIN!!! - ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Front desk is RUDE. They were super mean and unwelcoming to my friends just because we didnt book to only rest but to have a small sleepover. Threatened to call security to ESCORT us in the middle of the night because we asked for a bigger pot…? We are still teens and this is crazy to me. We werent making noise and they allegedly got a noise complaint about us??? Their stove was dirty AND IT SHOCKS PEOPLE ANY TIME YOU TURN IT ON, microwave burnt, barely any utensils or plates or cups, 0 STARS would NEVER book again!!!
- Charles (9/5): Had a great time - Clean spacious a bit outdated but we came for the beach and shopping although if we wanted to fry anything we couldn’t as the electric wrings were crooked and so tended useless but great view onto the beach great shopping but the the best restaurants are on the French side for dinner Not bad
- Jarvis (8/5): -
- Richard (7/5): Would happily stay again and great location - Location and space Bit scruffy in parts
- Maria (6/5): -
- Miguel (7/5): -
- Jesus Alejandro (5/5): -
- Flora (9/5): Prima voor een zakenreis. - Uitstekende locatie, zeer behulpzaam personeel, ruim appartement. Er wordt veel verbouwd aan het gebouw wat overdag geluidsoverlast geeft.
- Armando (10/5): - All good
- Deepak (6/5): - Rooms were clean but balcony was in a very poor condition. The floor was bad and the chair and tables seemed that they were not cleaned for weeks. So you go to the balcony but not sit. In addition the AC stopoed working in the night. That is ok as I dont expect service in the night. But the fan made such bad noise through the night so that could have been serviced before. Please make sure these things are taken care of for customers.
- Peach (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious
- StRose (9/5): -
- Williana (6/5): - I liked the room except for the bathroom. It was an accessible bathroom which we didn’t ask or pay for and the shower and tub were in one. I hate those.
- Mansour (10/5): - Thank you
- Lois (8/5): -
- Paulina (9/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Right in front of the beach and near many restaurant and nice shops.
- Faride (8/5): - La ubicación excepcional.
El personal muy amable
No tiene Parking, eso nos complicó mucho
Entendimos que el Parking de pago era accesible y no fue así. Debíamos dejar el auto muy lejos. Muy difícil el parking
- B V (2/5): Nothing very important - Try to upgrade Not really
- Andrae (10/5): - It’s very specious
- DB2B (8/5): -
- Persaud (10/5): Exceptional - The view was amazing, the hotel was clean and amazing the beds were awesome The fact that we had to park so far from the hotel that's the only thing we didn't like
- Ashielle (8/5): Very good -
- DayTrip28575112078 (2/5): RAT TRAP…..STAY AWAY!!! - I thought it would be ok for one night. Rented the “penthouse”. It was a a literal rat trap! One bedroom had cracks in the ceiling with pieces hanging off and in the living room area we found mice droppings. We attempted to notify management but there was no one available at the front desk at 10pm. The manager was very unhelpful the follow day. He tried to convince us that is iguana droppings (as if that makes it better)! STAY AWAY!
- Thomas (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay
- Sapphire (10/5): - Clean and great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Leeana (7/5): Good - I didnt get any breakfast at the hotel The balcony should have been cleaned before my arrival it was rather dusty and full of bird poop, the chair and table on the balcony were also dirty n look very old, the rail on the balcony was very shaky and thats dangerous for being on thr 5th floor.
- Tashana (6/5): - The room was unclean at checkin
- Jean E. (6/5): - Like: In the center of Front Street. AC cooled well. 203 has a great view and is spacious and reasonably priced. Wifi worked well.
Dislike: Many details in the rooms are unfinished or lack maintenance. e.g. Missing or damaged and dirty lamp coverings and shades, burnt bulbs, poor lighting and not warm light, electrical wiring of AC outside protective casing. Ceiling fan in the bedroom is too low and forms a danger. TV's had no channels. Some mold on the bathroom ceiling. Showerhead was loose, No iron and no iron board. Not convinced that pillowcases were clean, some bathroom towels were stained but smelted clean (looked shabby). No "do not disturb" card. Headboard of bed is loose, electrical receptacles are worn down causing plugs to be loose causing sparks. Broken curtains elements. Former plastic cable coverings stuck on walls and ceilings which are no longer in use.
Some investment and a bit labor to improve relatively small, mentioned details and issues would make a world of difference and create value for the user, the owners and further enhance St. Maarten's touristic product.
I hope this helps to improve.
- Anonymous (10/5): Very professional and helpful staff. facility was perfect - there was no breakfast nil issues
- Besselink (4/5): We will stay somewhere else next time - The location The overall outdated feel of the property. If it was cheaper I wouldn’t mind but value wasn’t there.
- Angela (8/5): - Great location and walkable to shopping and beach is right outside. I would stay here again
- Janira (8/5): Very good -
- mayj (2/5): Sticky light switches. - Sticky light switches. I do not think I've ever stayed at any hotel and have experienced this. Anyway...
Pros:
-Right by the beach.
-Had a view of Great Bay.
-Right above Bold Buddha (very nice owner) that has great food and karaoke in the evenings.
Cons:
-Not clean.
-Very old/dated. Laid towels down to sit down.
-Shower curtain old and crusted outward so water got on the floor during shower.
-Stayed in 205. Large industrial fan that stays on until around 17:30 so if you fly in early and want a nap, forget it.
-The noise! You will hear chairs and tables being moved across hard floors above you and beside you. It was SO loud in there. This is not for light sleepers.
-Reported issues to manager and he acts as though this is the first time he's hearing these complaints. I'm very sure, it is not the first time.
-The sliding window facing the beach didn't close all the way. I doubt someone would've climbed that high, but bugs could fly in.
-They have one lift for 4 (5?) floors so you will be waiting if you do not want to take the stairs.
-Men were leisurely on their phones outside of my room, guessing they were on break. Not every man had on a name tag so I had to assume they worked there.
-Front desk could not answer one question, but she did find me a cab quickly.
I left this hotel as soon as I could.
I'm being very nice with this review.
Good luck!
ps *the trash can is under the sink
*Check-in is one floor up through the mini mall area - walk towards the bold buddha sign
- Sharmin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janie (10/5): - Great location
- Shekanah (5/5): Besides those two issues I’ll definitely be staying there again - Always love the location The bedroom tv wasn’t working at all. And the living room area had a really funky smell it was very concerning
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Clevon (2/5): - Price overrated for the quality of the rooms. An plus no wash clothes ridiculous
- Marie-anne (8/5): Will stay there again - All was satisfactory No balcony
- Meredith (4/5): - Good and clean basic room and accomodations. Air conditioning worked well and bed comfy. Some expected amenities not available such as body lotion so bring your own. No hotel parking in beach area so be prepared if you rent a car. The area was nice with multiple beach bars and restaurants in walking distance and nice shops. Generally a decent place to stay with nice staff.
- Rozeta (7/5): Great location - The locks for the windows of our room #101 on the first floor were broken, so the management advised us to close the chatters during the nights for safety.
- Valentine (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (10/5): - Lovely hotel in centre of Philipsburg. It is getting a bit dated but everything was there and worked. Good AC. Good beds. We had a large 'suite' with m/w, stove fridge, etc. Excellent location and great staff. Not super fancy but highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Horizon View Beach Hotel - Very good location on the boardwalk near lots of restaurants and shops. The duty free pavilion is close by as is the Market where you can buy drinks and snacks. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff is wonderful. They are helpful and friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The A/C was great. All in all, very pleased with our stay and will definitely be back.
- marilou (8/5): - Beautiful view from our room. Staff very helpful.
Mattress not great- we rolled to the middle.
- Leona (8/5): - No complaints
- William (8/5): - Very friendly and accommodating staff. Large rooms. Wonderful view of the beach and cruise ship docks. Enjoyed walking the beachfront boardwalk and swimming . Many restaurants nearby on the boardwalk.
- Richardson (7/5): Good -
- RosTou (10/5): Great Start to Vacation - We were warmly welcomed upon arrival. The husband/wife duo at the front desk were kind and funny! We really enjoyed our conversation with them, and we appreciated the large bottle of water after a long trip. Our room, which had a fantastic view, was large, comfortable, and spotless. Beach and bath towels and other amenities were great. We had an issue with one of our bags and couldn’t locate it for a couple of days. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and someone even called us after we left the island to ensure that we were all set. It’s rare to see that level of customer service anymore- thank you again! We hope to return next year.
Angela and Jeff
- Wendy (7/5): Good -
- Joan (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Property was close to shopping and on the beach. Very helpful staff.
- Kerry (8/5): Very good - Location was appropriate Clean
- Anna (3/5): Disappointing - Beach front and view Standard of finish. Air con didn’t work, cooker damaged kitchen ill equipped , shower useless and Dove hand soap watered down .
- Kellie (10/5): - Some friends I made on the boardwalk
- Patrizia (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very big, an apartment actually with a full kitchen. The style of the decor was probably 1980/90. Bed very comfortable. Towels a bit oldie. Reception staff very nice and helpful. Wifi works well. I had a lovely view over the beach. Right below the hotel there's a nice restaurant and many cafes around. You are on the beach board walk and you have all kinds of shops available. Within walking distance you have a taxi stand.
- John (10/5): - The staff were great as well as the beach access and proximity to multiple food options. Parking is very limited, as it is on most of the island. Our room was pleasant and clean.
- Susan (6/5): we only stayed one night, our stay was ok, buthad we stayed longer, we would not have been happy. - The staff was very friendly and helpful especially the manager. He went out of his way to make us welcome and see to our needs. Although the Hotel was clean, the Hotel is in need of a refurbishing. The penthouse suite needs fresh painting, new air-condition and overall updating especially the bathrooms
- Ralph (10/5): - Staff was very helpful and welcoming.
- Birgit (8/5): We will be back! - Right at the beach front, stunning sea view, close to the cruise terminal, spacious apartment. Helpful and friendly staff Please improve cleaning, the apartment was really not clean :-(
- wmccfp (8/5): About what you'd expect - Not a lot of curbside appeal. Tiny elevator to check in desk on second floor. Staff friendly and helpful. View over beach and harbor very nice.
Room(s) large with very large and comfortable king bed in bedroom. Living area spacious. Utilities clean and functional. Decor minimalist and dated.
Overall very convenient to downtown and perfect for a night before getting on a cruise ship. Will meet your needs if you have reasonable expectations.
- Whitney (8/5): - Staff excellent, area surrounding hotel is so-so. Room large and reasonably clean. Very dated furniture. Excellent view of harbor/beach.
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good -
- Moe (8/5): Very good - The staff , location, large step in shower and the ocean view was spectacular Hard to access to drop off bags, no parking on site, mold in our closet and kitchen, stove covered in rust. We reported the mold but no one came to clean it. We did get our loose bathroom faucet repaired. The bedroom had a window to the hallway which was really loud.
- Edgar (8/5): - Excellent location
- aarontE1054MC (8/5): Great Stay for Business Travelers – Spacious, Clean, and Central - I recently stayed here and had a great experience. The location is perfect—right in the middle of town, making it easy to get around. The rooms are very clean and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and safe environment, which I really appreciated.
While the hotel isn’t ultra-luxurious, it delivers excellent value for the price. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with anything. I stayed in one of the suite rooms, which was impressively large and featured a well-equipped kitchen—perfect for longer stays or those who prefer to prepare their own meals.
Overall a solid choice, especially for business travelers looking for a reliable and convenient place to stay. I would definitely return!
- Brian (10/5): Great place to stay with the beach and restaurants right outside our door. -
- Diane (8/5): - Great location
- Rodney S (6/5): Just OK - Great location for shopping, restaurants and access to cruise port. No pool and beach access $.
