Guest Reviews
- Cat (10/5): An excellent location. Very inviting. - Good location. Lovely building room was clean and comfortable.
- Heidi (10/5): We had a girls trip to come up and see the tulip festival. The festival was disappointing but the stay at the Harbor Ho - The amenities are wonderful and clean. The location couldn’t be better. We were able to tour the area, walking around to restaurants and seeing the sites.

- Diane (8/5): Nice loved the spa bathtub - Did not have any Room was tight with the furniture

- Sherita (7/5): Nice location nice staff and good amenities - Loved the location style of the inn and the staff were super nice and helpful. Had updated plugs with usb and that’s not a given even at newly updated hotels. Liked the cold water and snacks available. Views from the balcony were amazing too. Wish the breakfast was more substantial with greater variety. Also our spa tub could’ve been cleaner
- Larry (8/5): - Location was excellent. For what it was, food was abundant and good. However, this facility does not have an elevator, and it has 3 floors! This is not Europe! Because of a foot injury, I could not navigate all those steps to get to the better room we'd first been assigned. Instead, we got a room facing the parking lot, and it was cold! Not bad enough to really complain, but not really comfortable. IMO...They could mitigate the issue by rearranging the room. They have a large chiffarobe blocking the heat, and it all gets trapped back in a corner. All that said, the room was very nice in and of itself - spacious and clean and easy to get to. Gathering room was very nice. Many good reasons to stay here, right across the road from Lake MI bay, even off-season, as we were. I'd still recommend it.
- Lana (10/5): - We loved our stay here. It was walkable to the cutest downtown.
- Janice (10/5): -
- John (10/5): -

- Brian (10/5): Perfect summer stay - The staff were awesome! The fresh baked cookies and breakfast were so nice each day! Location was perfect! Nothing!

- Payton (8/5): We only stayed one night but it was very nice! - The size of the room was great and I loved the fireplace! The stairs
- Jim (8/5): - We are elderly and had a room on third floor. A little hard getting up and down the stairs
- timothy (10/5): Charming and convenient. - Extremely friendly. Free snacks and bottled water. Decent breakfast and great location near town. All good
- Harris (10/5): -
- Savona (10/5): -
- Wolfgang (9/5): - Frühstück war sehr lieblich angerichtet. temperatur im Zimmer, etwas kalt.
- Denise (8/5): very good - The location. The price. No elevator
- Evangelina (10/5): - Exceptionally clean, staff friendly and accommodating! Quiet and Peaceful.
- Nancy (9/5): Nice room and breakfast was good. - The Harbor House was close to downtown Grand Haven. We walked everywhere after arriving. The heating unit in our room was noisy
- Thomas (10/5): A charming place, with a cozy "homey feeling" - Their attention to detail. Lovely caramels in a little parfait dish in the room, a very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, very clean. The continental breakfast was charming: homemade blueberry bread, coffee with actual coffee cups, other things that made it special I can't think of anything. This place paid attention to every detail to make it a pleasant stay!
- Diana (8/5): Excellent value, comfortable room, very nice staff. - Lovely historic home and great location Not very adorable. Breakfast just OK.
- Kimberly (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - Great location. Very clean and comfortable.
- Bradley (10/5): Perfect get away - Very welcoming, felt like walking into a families home where they were looking forward to your visit. Our room was beautiful with a nice view from the balcony. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on! They had a very nice selection of snacks available at all times and the homemade cookies in the evening made the whole place smell like grandma's house! We will definitely visit again. Oh, don't forget to buy a bag of their delicious caramels to take home with you! There us absolutely nothing we didnt like.
- Virgil (10/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Grand Haven! - Was upgraded to a better room with a view and fireplace for free!
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Scott (10/5): - It was a really good stay! Staff was very friendly. Great location! Safe and clean! Thank you!!
- Paula (10/5): Great stay. - Like that it was an old Inn. Pretty. Liked everything.
- Larry (10/5): - Lovely and quaint place to stay. All the amenities included. We felt like we were the only ones there even though all rooms were booked for the night. Very quiet. Just across the street from the lake.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Spacious room, fun check in with Ms. Marilou, quaint inn
- Lampe (10/5): Very pleasant weekend for us. - The location of this B & B couldn't be better. Walk along the river. Walk to restaurants. Going tp the beach is walkable if you are energetic, otherwise it is a very short drive. Breakfast was perfect. We and almost all the other guests ate breakfast on the porch. This B & B is very quiet. Book in advance if you are staying in the summer. This place is VERY popular for a reason. I have to measure my blood pressure every day under doctors orders. It went down 10 points after our stay here - not kidding. Staff was superb. No complaints whatsoever.
- Kershner (10/5): Great place near the water! - Great location and balcony room totally worth it! Very clean and comfortable near walking pier and water! Nice restaurants and shops around the corner and across the street! We loved this area and came back for a 2nd night at this Inn! We loved it
- Lynnel (10/5): - Best location!
- Pamela (10/5): - Very friendly and provided all enmities
- Robert Henty (9/5): -
- Hilary (10/5): The location was perfect to visit with friends and the weather was perfect to enjoy the beautiful setting. - Beautiful location N/A
- Kershner (10/5): Loved our stay, want to go back. The balcony view worth it! - Lovely view and comfortable! Older building but all was fine
- Jenny (10/5): Great location with a view - We needed a last minute place to stay for the night. Booked around 8pm. Would be checking in late since we had just sat down at a restaurant. About 10pm got a call from the Inn letting us know where our keys would be left as she was going home for the night. This was slighly concerning since the booking website stated 24hr front desk access. Thankfully we arrived and easily found our keys and notes on information for ice machine, breakfast hours etc. Our room was 1st room on 3rd floor (remember no elevator). We found it to be quite large and comfortable. We found the breakfast to be basic but worked for our needs (coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, 1 type cereal). In addition, they did have take along snacks such as nutrigrain bars, granola bars, bananas, apples, oranges and cold water bottles. Couple perks to our room was the jetted tub, yummy handmade soft caramels at the bedside and 3 windows. We also discovered the next morning in talking with another guest and the AM innkeeper that there is a lady who lives on property to handle the after hours issues should there be any so technically they do have 24 hr "desk person". We would definitley consider visiting the Inn should we be in the area again.
- Jessica (10/5): - Perfect location and excellent service at check-in!
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Leisa (10/5): - The staff was wonderful!! Close to shopping and harbor.
- Gloria (10/5): - I like all the little extras like tea, coffee and lemonade always available, also snacks and bottled water.
The front screened in porch is delightful. The only issue I had was the air conditioner was blowing cold air directly at the bed off and on throughout the night.
- Anne (10/5): We needed 1 night accommodation and this was a great find. - Everything. Staff was excellent, location is perfect, bed was comfortable and the enclosed porch is a great feature. Nothing
- Arthur A (10/5): Great place in Grand Haven! - Second time staying here and again it was wonderful! It’s very quiet, an older hotel but lovely and comfy! Our room on second floor had view of the the “music fountains” every night!
- Colleen (8/5): - Second time staying here lovely spot !
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Joyce (10/5): - Beautiful location close to Grand River...adequate parking...no elevator was the only drawback
- Brett and Dena (10/5): - Location of the Inn! Friendly staff! Probably should a room at the lower level since they do not have an elevator. I have a back issue.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Place was great, as always, however this is no working fan or vent in the bathroom of room #31, and there should be since it gets pretty steamy from the shower. LOVE this cute little Inn and always enjoy the friendly welcoming staff and unique spin on each room!
- Shafer (10/5): -
- michele (8/5): - Good shower. Clean
- Mark (10/5): I highly recommend anyone looking for a great getaway, stay here. Awesome location!! - The three ladies on staff here were outstanding. Very professional, courteous, kind and helpful.
My king room was very spacious and clean.
The offer a very nice continental breakfast along with snacks and bottled water and baked cookies after 4pm
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great option. Would stay again. - Very cute and cozy. I stayed in room 24 (queen bed with queen pull-out sofa bed). The balcony has a great view of the river toward the pier. Room 25 would be on the corner if you want to get the best corner balcony. It’s an old building so there are some old bits like peeling wallpaper. Being near the water, you get bugs. There was an old gas fireplace in the room that couldn’t be completely turned off - there was a tiny flame even though it was off. The sofa bed is very thin. The pillows were thinned out as if they were 5 years old. Walls are thin - I heard the innkeeper knock on the neighboring room’s door to deliver coffee at 6am.
The nice things outweigh the little bad things. The hardwood floors throughout the main floor are so nice- plenty of tables for eating and hanging out. There was a puzzle set out on the coffee table for anyone to contribute. Cookies in the evening are great. Kitchenette in the hall for you to use. Can put your food in fridge. There’s a microwave. And snacks. There was popcorn packets so we popped one in the microwave. Thank you.
The walk to the restaurants and shops and water fountain are short. We walked to the end of the pier and back.
- Douglas (8/5): - The hotel is right across the street from the channel between Spring Lake and Lake Michigan. There are a lot of restaurants and nice stores in the area. The breakfast was pleasant and the staff brought in a new cake each morning. The room was nice with a balcony. There isn't any shade on the balcony and it was really hot while we were there, so we only sat out after dark. The road (or main strip) was loud and it seemed that the loudest cars cruised up and down the strip.
- Nick (10/5): - The Inn is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff couldn’t be any more pleasant or helpful. It’s also in a great location with everything in the social district a quick walk away.
- Catherine (8/5): - Great location for walking to the pier and to the downtown area for shops and restaurants. The accommodations were nice, especially the second floor where we stayed, with balcony and river view. The room could use a deep clean, the bathroom was small and the room overall lacked the charm we had hoped for in an historic inn.
- Cindy (6/5): - I think this is a convenient location and have wanted to stay for some time. The room was nothing special though, considering the cost. Another detail was that I expected a warm breakfast rather than cold continental which was disappointing, considering the cost. Finally, free parking means only one vehicle (which the website does not state). My sister met me from out of town and I was forced to park on the street, not a big deal except the neighbor had a large tree cut down and no one informed me! Luckily I came out early and was able to move the car, and then had an employee be defensive over the matter rather than apologize. Not very professional, considering the cost.
- Chris (10/5): Holiday weekend - We had an amazing stay at this charming bed and breakfast! The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax. The guest books in the room were a delightful surprise—so entertaining and full of personality. While breakfast was good, I had expected a little more variety. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I’d happily return.
- Luke (10/5): We got engaged! - What a unique place to stay! Near downtown Grand Haven. Great views of the water and walking paths. Bed was extremely comfortable. People are really nice. My fiancé and I will definitely come back for an anniversary stay.
- Susan (10/5): The Harbor House Inn was a nice place to stay for our anniversary get away - Beautiful and decorated so cute, easy walk to shop, dinner and musical fountain We liked everything about it.
- Dil (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and the place was so great to stay at. It’s so cute and really clean. We stayed as a family and would definitely return!
- John (7/5): - Excellent location. Convenient to walk up town & right on the water front. A lot of small winding stairways to get to rooms on 2nd floor. Difficult for seniors and transporting luggage. Large soaker tub in bathroom. No separate shower. Again people with mobility issues, not the best.
- Adam (6/5): - Good location. Inn is in need of repair and updating. Bed in room 3 is ready for replacement. We skipped the hot breakfast in the morning because they were running behind, had no coffee ready and we had to get on the road.
- Kate (10/5): -
- Victoria (8/5): Very nice Inn, we will definitely plan another stay here at a future date. - The location was great, the room and common area were quaint and peaceful. Was unaware of the stairs (no elevator) to haul our luggage to the 3rd floor but it was not bad.
- Lee (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable, and cozy. - I love the location! View of the water from our room, super close to all the activity downtown.
- Bailey (8/5): - Very nice property. Only one complaint - if you’re in a cottage room. There are exterior lights on the main house that shine in the windows all night long. Room darkening shades would be very helpful.
- John (10/5): - Loved the location (very close to the channel which empties into Lake Michigan). There is mile long sidewalk that leads to the beach and historic pier on the Lake.
The facility itself has a long comfortable screened in porch which is great for breakfast. Location is a few blocks from shopping and restaurants. This is a well kept property which we may use again.
- Vicky (10/5): - Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly employee and then taken on a tour of the inn. I fell in love with virtually everything about it! The rooms were clean, cozy and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast included such things as assorted bagels, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese sticks and fresh fruit mix. In addition, orange juice, coffee and tea were offered. I had a very positive experience overall and will definitely be back for another stay!
- Jim (1/5): We enjoyed this Inn years ago and had a wonderful experience. This time around was not good. I can’t believe the cost wa - Location was great. Not clean and very used looking.
- Gennady (5/5): - Location, cleanliness, staff. Breakfasts vary poor, no fridges in rooms, communal fridges instead, quite messy.
- Patrick (10/5): Paying for location - TV in a separate room from bedroom was odd and inconvenient.
- Erik (6/5): - Great location, the staff was wonderful, but for the price and rooms not up to bar. I guess you’re paying for the location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for our honeymoon - Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but we could not have been more thrilled with HHI otherwise. Perfect walking distance from the social district, friendly staff, free snacks—loved it.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Faye (9/5): Cute, friendly hotel in great location - So cute! Loved the homemade lemonade and cookies on arrival
Great location - easy walk to the beach or town centre
Very comfortable and friendly with good breakfast Nothing
We went during the annual coastguard festival which we didn’t know about. This probably made it a bit more expensive than it should have been but that was down to us. The festival made up for it though - lots going on.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Born (10/5): Exceptional - Large room with views of the channel.
- Rebecca (3/5): Poor - We like the lady at the front desk I paid $400 for a room with a bed in a bathroom no view no TV that really worked well. No microwave no fridge nothing for $400. That was a joke.
- Amanda (10/5): - Wndeeful
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robin (10/5): - The property was perfect. Rooms were so inviting and loved the continental breakfast.
- Field (10/5): Exceptional -
