Guest Reviews
- Guest (10/5): -
- Vincent (5/5): -
- Joseph (8/5): - Room space was great
- Allen (8/5): - Not a great place to walk the dog but managed fairly quiet as its away from the freeway
- Gal (6/5): - The property itself is old and so are all the facilities inside. The room was dirty, everything I turned on in the room made noise and the bed itself was made so carelessly.
- Doris (10/5): - Shop nearby
- Marcie (6/5): - The room I stayed in was in poor repair. The remote worked for a while and then did not work. The AC unit was in really poor condition with knobs missing, etc. I will not be staying at this location again.
- cindy (2/5): - This place used to be nice. We stayed in at many many times. I made sure that I got a room that had no smoking because I’m deathly allergic to cigarette smoke and mold. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night because of the smoke that was coming through The filters in the air conditioning. And I’m sure Mold has something to do with it. When I told them they could’ve cared less.
- Antrome (6/5): - Bed was comfy and room was decent. TV remote didn't work though and there were no manual switches on the tv. There were some ants in the bathroom.
- Jesse (2/5): Worse hotel stay I’ve ever had. - The room was dirty, there were ants cover the bed and bathroom, the room didn’t even have a fire alarm.
- Raymond (10/5): - They were great and helped us find our concert and was super friendly
- Tara (8/5): - The room was clean, the staff was friendly and very helpful.
- Luis (2/5): - Do not be fooled by the photos on Expedia. They are old and do not represent the current condition of this hotel.
While the room itself was reasonably clean, everything else was disappointing. The restroom was terrible—the hot water took forever to come on, the bathtub was old, stained, and looked filthy, and there was limescale everywhere. I didn’t even feel comfortable setting anything down on the bathroom counter. The furniture in the room was outdated, and there was no in-room coffee (only a fridge and microwave). The TV was large but offered very limited channels.
The outside of the property is in poor shape—fading paint, neglected grounds, and a parking lot that fills up quickly in the evenings. For the price being charged, this place is absolutely not worth it. It feels like a rundown motel being sold as something much nicer online.
The only positive was the kind check-out staff, but that does not make up for the condition of the hotel. I would not stay here again.
- Nicole (2/5): - The bathroom was not clean and had blood on the toilet and sink. There was also urine on the toilet and floor. There was dirt scum and hair in the tub as well as hair on the floor and sink. There was loud pounding noise all night and the staff did nothing about it. I provided pictures and videos as well as requested to change rooms and the staff was not accommodating. They then tried to lied and gas light us to a third party even after videos and pictures were provided to the third party. This is a horrible hotel that I would never recommend to anyone. Over priced and not taken care of.
- Guest (1/5): 2/10 - Honestly nothing to be honest Ants, could leave water marks on the nightstand very easily I also got bit in my ear some how.
- Steven (2/5): - First off there was some sketchy people lingering around. Obviously not the hotels fault as anyone can rent a room but it shows the people it attracts. The worst part was how gross the room was. There was clumps of long hair in the corners of the room, dirty old furniture, picture on the wall was dusty and crocked, etc. The deadbolt was also broken off and the door had a large gap so you could almost see in the room. Pushed the dresser in front of the door as there was no security deadboltt anymore. The lady at the front was very polite checking out and the sheets were clean but otherwise id rather have slept in my car. Any 10/10 reviews are a blatant lie.
- Naomi (8/5): - I did not like being surprised by a separate $25.00/day pet fee. I think that should have been disclosed prior to booking, since the site advertises it is pet friendly
- Guest (5/5): Santa Barbara is beautiful, easier if you have a car to get about - Traditional American motel Value for money, pain less for a hotel of a better standard elsewhere
- Gerardo (6/5): - The tv wasn't working, they started working in the issue right away, the hotel has zero amenities but the rooms are pretty decent.
- Malkary (2/5): It was a place to rest my head for one night but will not be back - I was there for only one night and it was a bed to sleep in It was a bare bones room. Ants were all over the place in the bathroom.
- Chad (1/5): I'm NEVER staying here again, no matter what!! - I liked that the maintenance man came right away to remove the creepy crawly bugs and webs from inside the room and light fixture. The coffee in the lobby was good. The dirty mattresses, the horrible smells inside and outside the room, the broken lamp and stained shades, the guest safe didn't work, the noises from the walls whenever the water was running anywhere in the building. The smell of cat urine outside our room.
- Deeksha (5/5): -
- Andreiita (8/5): - This its good place
- Shawna (6/5): - I didnt know there was low end in SB but i found it. My room was rank. Definitely sprayed my bed bug spray as soon as i arrived. The towels were hella old and thin. I would have rather spent a lil more to had stayed somewhere else. Nice lil doughnut shop next door and 7-11 was just up the block. The staff was really cool. I'd just it a 50/50.
- Jessica (1/5): -
- Barbara (3/5): -
- Marcela (2/5): - absolutely not what they said on the previous review place smells like pee I want to leave soon as I got there my friend was not able to pay again a different place so we had to stay there I don’t recommend this place
- William (8/5): -
- Susan (7/5): The rooms are comfortable and staff are friendly. An upgrade to the outside would be good. - The room was clean and the beds comfortable. staff were friendly and helpful. The location is near to shops and restaurants and freeways. Room maids were courteous and helpful, and insisted on cleaning! Parking is tight. Some noise from people living there. It appears a bit run down from the outside. A repainted sign would be good! Addition security bars would be good in the bathroom.
- Shana (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - Convenient place to stay in Upper State Street area. Walkable to restaurants
- Erin (2/5): - Nothing This was an extraordinarily over priced hotel. No screens on windows so bugs come in if you open a windows. There was a broken phone left lying on the floor, half of the outlets didn't work, and the fridge was just left on the floor. The lamp was broken and the bedding and mattress were cheap.
Do not pay the price to stay here.

- Guest (10/5): -
- Andre (1/5): Horrible experience. - Upon entering office to check in clerk was asleep. Had to yell to wake him up he was that dead asleep(maybe on something drug related). Checked me in wrong for my days, room key stopped working and didn’t have access to to my room for the first night.
- Ignacio (8/5): - Front desk guy was rude
- Laura Ida (4/5): -
- Miranda (6/5): - It did not look like it did online, the staff was nice, but unhelpful for the most part. The front door to the room did not lock properly and the drains in both the sink and tub were terrible and did not drain right at all.
- Gabriel (1/5): Horrible, little sleep. Terrible bed, noisy, needs major renovation and plumbing work! - Easy communication, decent location for our trip The room, especially the bathroom, smelled like a sewer. I think there was a leak in the bathroom plumbing, behind the wall. A/C worked, but was super loud. The price was 3 or more stars (over $300/nt), while the quality was 1 star. It would've been better to camp!
- Amy (8/5): - The biggest stand out is the LOCATION! Very walkable with many options for food. The beds were clean and we slept well, but the inn itself is very old. The showers are very LOUD if you can believe it and the bathrooms are begging for an upgrade. The stairs, trash/stench & puddles need a good cleaning. With that being said, it wasn't a terrible stay. It must be hard to have that much to upgrade. I do feel the rates should fairly reflect the state it's in though.
- Susan (6/5): -
- arturo (9/5): - Ubicación y el servicio al cliente..muy amable el muchacho que atiende el mostrador
- erin (2/5): Very disappointing, really just wanted to sleep and leave - We were given the wrong key and walked in on someone at night…
Someone try to get in our room the next next. We slept with one eye open the entire time Completely over priced.. ridiculous
- Erola (7/5): -
- Appelgate (7/5): -
- Valeria (6/5): Carino - Stanza molto carina e accogliente e posizione comoda. Qualche capello in bagno e parcheggio un po’ piccolino.
- Michel (6/5): - Bedden waar wel aan vervanging toe, veel vliegjes in kamer, grote kier onder deur.
- Juan (10/5): my stay was more then I expected and price wise it was excellent!!! - the rooms was clean, the staff was nice. the property was old but well maintain. I was truly satisfied
- Paul (4/5): - Ghetto
- Robalmondo07 (7/5): - Friendly staff that was very helpful, gave good recommendations for food and coffee and where to go. Bathroom could have been cleaner
- Henderson (1/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - The room was clean, the bed was comfortable.
- Mathias (8/5): -
- Cabrera (6/5): -
- Geri C (3/5): One of the sorriest , dilapidated motels I've ever stayed at. - Office guy was very nice Missing normal hotel/motel room amenities. No bedspread, no clock, no 'Kleenex', battered furniture, bathroom sink stopper broken, badly worn 2nd floor walkway materiel, very noisy walkway when in room, no light in closet, could hear toilets flushing in adjacent rooms, the worst pillows EVER! - felt like someone had stuffed them with rags, no coffee in room,
dirty parking lot.
- William (6/5): - Check in was OK. Clerk definitely did not want to be there - it showed in his actions.
The phone, microwave, desk lamp, and hair dryer were all unplugged for unknown reasons, which was puzzling.
Floors are fake-wood covered. Meaning we could hear EVERY FOOTSTEP from above. Also all of the outdoor halls were bare cement with no runners, meaning every FOOTSTEP outside could be heard - all night!
On the plus side the room was clean and convenient to walk for food and coffee. Plenty of parking, even with no vacancy.
- Helen (1/5): -
- James (4/5): -
- joanne (3/5): People were standing on landing outside of their rooms drinking at midnight. - Conveniently located
- Guest (6/5): -
- Valerie (4/5): - Not at all as pictured. Room was in a corner next to utility room. There was about a 4-5 inch gap at bottom of room door. TV was on the side of bed.
- jaime (4/5): - The property is old, needs a desperate upgrade, huge plumbing noise when other rooms are showering, old furniture & lamps. The whole hotel needs a make over & even though less expensive than other hotels, still was over $200+ a night. The outside & upper hallway distasteful. 2 good points: 1- nice bed, 2- Susan the manager. She was great & understood all the issues. I wish for her they rebuild; she deserves to manage a pretty Inn.
I would NOT recommend.
- Fabrizio (10/5): -
- Fabrizio (10/5): -
- R Joy (10/5): - Thank you for your kindness
- R. Joy (10/5): - Thank you for your kindness!
- Dean (9/5): - Close to giid restaurants as 8 found out, ans qalkong distance 1-2 blocks that's it Nothing
- Angelica (2/5): - It was the worst hotel ever!!! The main office looked already dirty!! I asked if I
- Fabela (1/5): I wish I could turn back time and stay somewhere else - Nothing The place is dirty, our sink leaked and we had to ask for a bucket. There were toys left behind the dresser and on top of the mirror by previous guests. Which demonstrates that even though they have people turn over the room, they're about paying attention to the rest of the room. I read reviews after the fact and apparently this motel has a history of being dirty, unkept, and smelly.
They asked for a $50 deposit, but after our stay, I feel like they owe me $50 bucks.
This place sucks.
- Shlomo (7/5): - we arrived at 14:30. the room was ready but the man at the reception said that the check in is at 16:00 and if we want the
room earlier we have to pay $20.
- Giuseppe (5/5): - Camere molto rumorose
- Verified traveler (10/5): Simple, clean, and affordable - The outside is simple, but the room was nice and updated with a fridge and microwave.
- Cesar (8/5): -
- Guest (1/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Sara - We came in at 2 AM and they were very nice and accommodating. Nice room and comfortable bed.
- Brian (6/5): -
- Steve (8/5): Excellent value motel in Santa Barbara. - Comfortable room, very clean, great value. Everything was OK.
- stephanie (5/5): - Very noisy room at night
- Olga (10/5): -
- Michael (7/5): -
- Lisa (2/5): - I didn't get to stay after all ,so I donated paid fees to the property owner. All I needed to do was change date(1)couldn't get to live voice ..booked through Expedia I live in Orange county 3hr drive I worked 2pm-midnight all I wanted to do is rest a little then go home.I had no extra time to go to office in person.Maybe next time.
- Caleb (7/5): -
- Manuel (6/5): Barely ok - Could be better
- David (6/5): Very expensive - Comfortable room Very expensive
- Shanila (2/5): - There needs to be more security on this property. There were a bunch of men on the second floor, making lots of crude sexual comments towards me that made me feel incredibly unsafe as I was coming in and out of the room. I did not feel safe to leave my room because I could hear them outside. The door did not have any latches which are necessary so the entire night I was afraid of a break-in being on the first floor and being able to hear everybody outside. I did not feel safe. There is no phone in the room to request support so I would have to leave the room in order to ask for help.
- Gary (6/5): good but could find better - next to chickflia and in next area it seemed shower was bad and didn’t drain right
- Danielle (4/5): Décevant. - Rien Beaucoup surtout propreté et certains outils ,comme sèche cheveux ne fonctionnaient pas.
- Price Jonathan (10/5): -
- Jim (8/5): The price and location and friendly management made our stay very pleasant. - Summer price and location. No complaints actually.
- dessibourg (8/5): Bien - Ok Rien de soécial
- Martin (10/5): - The guy at desk was ok and have excellent service , Nice place , really clean , good environment, is my first time here in SB , I’ll definitely rent this place again next time ,
- Rudy (4/5): - It was definitely a 2 star or lower motel. When we arrived at the room, the door was wide open at 10 pm at night. After making sure no one else was in there, we plugged the holes in the walls with toilet paper.
The pillows stunk like cigarette smoke if you are into that
- Yvonne (7/5): Value for money but not near downtown by foot. - On State Street just off the 101. Room was clean A long 3km walk downtown. A few men hanging over the balcony smoking on arrival. Early check in not facilitated.
- Richard (2/5): - Dangerous dirty loud pipe noise all noise night stay away
- Lizette (10/5): - I highly recommend this place. The young man at the front desk was very helpful and professional. The sheets smell clean and the area was so convenient for our convention. I would stay here again.
- Samantha (8/5): -
- chad (8/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): I asked the front and they presented for me an iron and nice and clean hotel. Need to fill the soap and shampoo in the s - Great service Alexander Location close to closest restaurants
- Troy (9/5): -
- Tracy (4/5): - Old property with very basic immensities
