Guest Reviews
- Nadia (4/5): - You get what you pay for. Which is fine, but the place could do with a little bit of love. There isn't even a kettle or cups in the room. No decoration at all. It is incredibly noisy due to all the construction around the area.
The room is big and spacious and the ac works. That is pretty much the only positives I can think of.
- R3441CAsandral (2/5): Staff great, room not so much - The bed was uncomfortable. A queen bed on a double frame. The air conditioner wouldn’t go on in the bedroom and wouldn’t go off in the kitchen. The kitchen was minimally equipped. The road to get there was about 4 blocks of unpaved rutted roads. The photographer was very very good. However, the people working here were very helpful, friendly and nice. And this location was by the beach.
- Kelsey Jo (6/5): - Doors in rooms did not feel secure
Poor lighting
Long deserted - feeling walk from centro
No drinking water available after 5 on site
No desk staff after 10:30
Room was clean but I felt very isolated and ended up staying with friends
- Brenda (10/5): - A time worn property, but well cared for. Much construction in area, and i heard this property will be shut in the spring to make way for more luxury condos or higher end accommodations. Sad to lose a modest option on this beautiful beach.
- Randall (8/5): - For what I paid for it was it was OK the noise from the highway in the morning and the construction next-door kinda wakes you up in the morning other than that it was fine
- ignacio (4/5): - Good and bad things: the view of the sea was a bit good, it had good space to rest, the space was very good, we had two rooms and two bathrooms like an apartment, the air conditioning did cool but it smelled very bad and humid, I think they don't give it service and the mattresses are the worst we have slept on, I think they are the same ones from when they built the rooms. My unit was # 222
- Sara (8/5): - The property was nothing special, but it was clean and the staff were friendly. It is a good location within walking distance to downtown. Our room was quiet and there wasn’t a lot of people at the hotel so we were able to enjoy the pool and beach pretty much to ourselves. For the price of the hotel, it was just as I expected.
- Maher (6/5): - I rented a cheap room there it was in the back, I didn't like that the front door had a 2" gap from the bottom, I wasn't able to relax I was concerned of insects crawling under the dood, the room was clean however the bed was uncomfortable, outside the smell was horrible, I checked out as soon as I was able to book a different place I left even though I had 3 nights left.
- Brad (10/5): - Beautiful vibe with the pool reflecting off the walls tropical birds chirping while getting high not to mention the housekeeping who cleans up after you without conjecture
- Kathy (8/5): - Rooms are nothing fancy but they’re spacious and clean. The beach is the selling feature for this hotel. No crowds, calm waves, beautiful sunsets.
- Allison (2/5): - The building is closing and being knocked down next month. My door wasnt secure, my view was concrete pikes and old toilets, there were cockroaches in the front suites and the pool was a dirty mess. The Expedia pictures are old and do not reflect what the Princess looks like now. I checked out after spending 1 night.
- Harry (10/5): - The hotel and staff were great, but there is much construction all around resulting in noise and roadway dust.
We would definitely stay ther again.
- Tina (6/5): - AC not working.
- ROLAND (10/5): - Huj
- PrairiePamplemousse (8/5): Felt like we had a private beach! - This quiet little gem had everything we needed. We stayed in a basic room which was large, clean, and safe. Bed was comfortable, shower had hot water, and there was a mini fridge and a/c. It’s not fancy but the beach access is worth it… we were usually the only ones at the beach every day, and the waves aren’t as strong because you’re sort of at the top of the bay. There’s a bit of rocks as you go into the ocean but then it’s soft and sandy. Short walk to the town square (10 minutes or so). No wifi in the rooms, only by the pool. It’s not close to the action but we enjoyed the quiet.
- Gordon (8/5): - Staff was excellent. We would suggest having wifi in all the rooms.
- Richard Emil (8/5): - Room was spotless and Mary did a beautiful job cleaning for us every day.
- Tina (10/5): - Great service and location. Clean and efficient. Quaint set up. Great authentic food.
- Lorrie (6/5): - Ok property. The trip moved a day here, a day there , very inconvenient. Poor service from Expedia, very poor
- Brad (10/5): - got what i needed
- Efrain (8/5): Used just at night - It was ok
- Eduardo (4/5): - Pool. Is damaged our. Kids. Got. Hurt at the slice of the pool
- Brad (8/5): - They need a new pool. I like the 'bird hut.' Good amount of eye candy which will wind up being your main recreation being that the internet doesn't quite make it to your room. Works good in other areas though. Restaurant works for a while but as you get familiar with Bucerias and La Cruz you will find more options. Little bit of a walk to both though. Trees still shade the road a little though sometimes and the Gaggles make pretty songs.
- Victor (2/5): - inexpensive beachfront property, but outdated and no internet in the rooms, wifi only available on common areas.
- Laurianne (2/5): - Our stay was very disappointing! We had two pieces of jewelry stolen on separate days! There were cockroaches in our room and the smell of sewer was horrible. There is construction all around us and the noise woke us up daily.
- John (8/5): - Located on the beach. 3 levels of accommodations-room, suite and bungalo. Our room was very dated but clean. There are several trip steps (2-3” steps) within the room. Tv has limited English channels. I could not make the close caption work for english. Restaurant on site has limited hours during weekdays- 10 to 5 but there are other restaurants close. There is a lot of new high rise construction on the street so a lot of noise sometimes.
- KarenF446 (6/5): A sad, faded lady of a resort - Once this place was grand, I'm sure. It has all the trappings of an all inclusive from back in the day. But it is sad and faded now, and literally falling apart. In the very very warm pool we stopped frequently to pick up tiles from underfoot, tiles that had fallen from the pool walls. They probably won't be replaced, as many repairs have gone undone; this place is in its declining year.
They recently sold off several of the bungalows (which at least looked large and clean from the outside) and a major condo is being constructed literally overhead - the cool pool has tarping over it to keep debris from the construction site from falling in.
We had a junior suite - very spacious and clean, lots of white, but dated and broken things like a tilted fridge, missing door handles and a microwave that made a very scary sound when in use.
You'll save money if you go here - we paid under $85 a night (but that was supposed to be just a room, not the suite - they lost our reservation so we got a free upgrade). But consider if it's really worth it - there are many nicer places just down the street for just a little more $.
- Karen (6/5): - This probably used to be a grand dame in Bucerias resorts, far from the madding crowd, large private bungalows and spacious suites. Now it's a faded lady, dowdy and broken down. Very clean, I have to say that. But tiles literally falling off the pool walls while you are swimming (water is VERY VERY warm though). The hotel is IN a construction site, so very dusty and noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bungalows Princess Suites Bucerias Review - The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Mary, who cleaned the room does great work. Alphonso, the bartender, makes the best Marguerita in Bucerias ( I ordered one at all of the 10 restaurants I went to ). The restaurant food was good. The laundry service was fast and everything folded nicely. Paco, jack of all trades, moved like an energiser bunny. Rose, at reception, was very accomodating - from calling taxis to providing information. Lots of palapas in front on beach, and many loungers around the pool. They get lots of repeat business. It's a gem of a place !!
- Nicole (2/5): - It was a unique experience. 👀
- ronald (8/5): - rooms need coffee makers and some other amenities
- Kathleen Ann (6/5): - Staff is the best. Amenities were few. Clean, quiet and quaint, but reserved two bungalows and ended up with one and a junior suite. It worked out, but not what I was expecting.
- Karen (8/5): - Liked that it was ocean front and had security guard overnight for vehicles. The mattresses were hard as a rock, the bar fridge is in dire need of repair and need more seating area for the hotel rooms at the back.
- Claudia (8/5): - I loved the location. Steps away from the beach. Great view from the balcony. The only bad part was all the construction, since our bungalow was right next it. Otherwise I would definitely come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice place. - I recommend this place I definitely will be back next time
- Sean Robert (8/5): - Rooms were clean, staff was lovely and the beach was right at our doorstep. Lots of construction surrounding the hotel but that was everywhere you went. Restaurant had basic offerings but we went into town to eat at local places rather than staying at the hotel. The pool is a bit tired and can use some updating but we prefered to swim in the beautiful ocean and spend our time on the beach so werent bothered by the pool. It was just what we needed for our stay in Bucerias. Not fancy but had everything we needed, clean, safe area and friendly helpful staff.
- Donna Lynne Marie (10/5): - The property is a little outdated, but the service and friendly staff makes up for being an older resort. The staff are very accommodating and go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay! The staff is EXCELLENT! 😀
This was my first time staying there, but I will be back next year for sure!
- Love (4/5): - Staff were nice especially Rosa. But almost every night there's Loud guests, having karaoke nights. Barking dogs at night. One night someone mistakenly knocked on our door. Supposed to stay 7 nights but couldn't last longer until the 5th night. We had to leave and booked at a different hotel. Location was bad. Wifi in room is very bad. Uber always having a difficult time getting there. No bueno!
- Shane (8/5): - Lots of construction happening on both sides, the resort is old and amenities are not great. However, the affordability was outstanding, everything was clean and staff was great. It was a little farther north from the centro than desired but again very affordable! I would stay again.
- Loj888 (8/5): great stay ! - we stayed at Los Picos for 18 days last month. Our first unit was a sizeable 2 bedroom but was quite "dated t overland while it overlooked the pool we were right above the airconditioner fans quite for the complex making sitting out side noisy.
Due to a burst pipe in the bathroom and were fortunately moved to a almost brand new unit in the tower next door. We had a quite sizeable seperate bedroom with 2 Queen sized beds and bathroom and the main room had a pullout couch, kitchen and another bathroom. The kitchen was quite large with a table that seated 4, a 4 burner stove, full sized fridge and microwave. The unit was clean and we had a great water view.
I highly recommend staying at Los Picos, especially in the new tower!
Our thanks to "Ray" for assisting us in our relocation to a room in the new tower.
- Luis (8/5): - The room was really clean nice swimming pool in front of the beach 15 minutes walk from bucerias really calm area
- Patricia (10/5): Great Vacation... - It was amazing loved every minute of it. The Housekeeper was so so so sweet and did a excellent job. Staff was awesome. Everything was wonderful. Little high in price.
- Bethany (8/5): - A pool out the front door and a the beach out the back is pretty hard to beat. The house is cute and was clean. The blanket was stained a little but we were happy to look passed that. Oyster bar on one side of the bungalow and snack bar on the other was really nice. The staff was so wonderful and kind and the pool was heated which was amazing. The beach is great to walk on (even found a few puffer fish washed up) i love that thwy have a rinse shower by the beach and another by the pool and the bathrooms by the pool are so clean. This is not a 5 star place, there are little items in the house that need attention like trim and sliding doors that arent perfect but it was exactly what we were looking for for our family. If you can book for around $100 /night youll have a steal of a deal.
A few cons, the tv didnt ever work correctly and the slide ripped up my sons swim shorts. The stairs get incredibly slippery so be careful. There is construction next door so we got an early wake up call to concrete trucks backing up, however we understand the necessity and appreciate the area being built up.
- Patricia (8/5): Nice pool - New construction next door. 7:30 a.m. start up. Not the hotels fault but don’t plan on sleeping in.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Cafe not open
- shelley (10/5): - Would definitely recommend
- Zulema (6/5): - The property is beautiful and in an excellent location, our room was outdated but very clean. The only thing was that the bed was old, worn out and extremely uncomfortable, we barely slept
- Mario A (10/5): - The location is unbeatable!! The beach is across the street literally! Liked the daily housekeeping and the staff was super, super friendly! Beach is not crowded. A hidden jewel! The price is also very, very affordable for the services. Will definitely come back!
- Catalina (2/5): You get what you pay for - Bed and pillows were very hard and still. Small bugs in room. Staff had no covid protection for employees. Didn't get the room i requested. Had to pay an extra $110 for first floor. Was first given 2nd floor in rear building. I walk with walker. Never again will I stay there.
- Luis (10/5): Vacaciones con la familia - Perfecto para pasar unas vacaciones con la familia
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I guess I should have done more research. It is not in a good area. There is a bar downstairs that is SO noisy and its almost all day long. The beach was closed and gross. The people were nice but it is really far out of the way of anything nice. It was just really not what I expected. It was gross and not very nice and the towels and bed were hard. I just don't think it was worth what I supposedly paid for it at all. Again, the people working there were nice but the area is extremely disappointing.
- Pat (10/5): Will go back! - Nice beach, clean room and facilities, and friendly staff. There is a bar next to the hotel that has live music in the evenings which was great. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the square.
- jeff (8/5): all a great stay - Great beach and nice clean bungalow. The road to get in there is horrible. Why don't all the hotels and condos in the area get together and fix it if Bucerias won't!
- Susan (8/5): Great beach - The beach at bungalow princess (February 2020 ) was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen It had Palapa huts, it was quiet, there were a few vendors but they did not pester. The water was clean and wonderful swimming. The bungalow was large but could have used a bit of a facelift- new sheets, better lights. I would go again
- Leslie (8/5): - There is a lot of work that needs to be done at Bungalows Princess and the staff is working hard at getting things done. The rooms are very basic but it will not stop us from going back next year. More lounge chairs are needed especially for the beach and the pools really need some attention. For the money, it's a good deal and it's location is perfect
- J (4/5): - No hot water and bathroom sink drain overflowed out onto bathroom floor other than that place was fine
- AC (10/5): - This an older facility that is taken care of by lots of staff. The staff is amazing. The little bar is hopping until just before 10:00pm with live music. The little restaurant has awesome food & the staff is amazing. The bed we had was very firm like other reviews reported. The air conditioner would freeze you out & a fan is also available in the room. We were in the annex. Glad we reserved the Bungalow Princess for our time in Mexico & not the Marriott that failed to provide us what we paid for the first night in Puerto Vallarta. Would definitely stay again.
- TJGR (8/5): - Loved the beach and the deck by the beach. Decent pools.
- Lise (6/5): - All I can say is you get what you pay for
Staff very friendly with what they have to work with.
- Ernesto (10/5): - Place was close to the beach
Small town close to Puerto Vallarta
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the location and the staff. We arrived early in the morning and they had a room ready for us which was fantastic after a long overnight flight. Great food at the snack bar. Buzzos is a fun place at night with cool people and delicious food. We had a great time here even though it was a short stay, we would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The lady who clean my room named Sara did a great job for $25 a night you can't beat it I've already been looking into next year I can't find it for that price but we'll still be back the night time security guard Manuel was also great with his little sidekick dog Morena can't wait to be back next year
- franchuk21 (8/5): a good deal in an overpriced place. - I find Bucerias, for a first time visitor, to be an overpriced and mediochre tourist location. I say overpriced because the room rates are higher than neighboring PV, mediochre because it has a less than average beach. And really - the beach seems to be the big draw for the place.
Therefore - I have given Bungalows Princess a 4 out of 5 rating - as it offered a great deal for a standard room in a field of high priced hotels.
The place offers the basics, and a good location. It is at the quieter end of the busy Bucerias beach, and is right on the beach. The room was clean, shower and hot water worked fine. A/C worked fine, TV worked fine. There is a fridge and basics in the room - table, chairs, etc. All in all - what more does one need if you are spending all your time on the beach? Nearby there are several small stores, a great pizza/takeout place and a nice bakery. The on site restaurant offers a fair variety at reasonable prices and other restaurants are close by.
For someone who loves walking a beach - the trek to Nuevo Vallarta is a nice walk down a beach which is largely sandy, not impeded by bouldery rocky areas like the ones in PV. The sand is rough, but apparently as good as it gets there. Of course my favourite beaches are in Hawaii, Tanzania and Australia so its not a fair comparison!
No wifi in the rooms - only at the pool area.
The area is very safe, the staff are helpful and friendly - especially the night watchman and his 'guard dog'. I stayed in one of the basic rooms, I consider the upgrad price to the ocean side rooms a little high. Yes, I would return!
- Ivan (6/5): - What I like was our check in receptionist at arrival time, which was at 11pm, Manuel was very helpful and welcoming along with his partner La morena (a puppy), he gave us more information that the main receptionist at the front desk in the morning, which it was disappointing. We didn’t receive all the information correctly about the WiFi, apparently the lady at the reception office gave us the WiFi name and password but didn’t tell us, and our friends, that you can only use the WiFi at the receptionist office. I did like the location because it’s right on the beach and near to the other beaches I enjoyed. What I didn’t like and I it disappointing, they had water problems, I was in the shower soaping when the water got shot down, also the water doesn’t have any pressure. The toilet handles were not in good condition and I had to lift up the toilet top to flash the toilet. The food at the restaurant was good but customer service wasn’t the greatest, and one more thing the streets were bad, bunch of potholes.
- Apolinar (6/5): Great location but not the best service. - I stayed 2 days (Sunday to Tuesday), for Monday I noticed some insect bites in my body, for Tuesday in morning I had my legs and arms with many of this bites, with a lot of itching and inflammation, I assumed that some kind of insect was in the bed. The location is great, so quiet and relaxed, but the beach area had garbage, and the water in the adult swimming pool looked turbid. I hosted in room 237.
- Greg (2/5): Horrible, we did not stay! - We did NOT stay. The room they gave us was dirty and the a/c non-functional. They said the only other room they had would cost 3 times as much money. We would like you to refund our credit card, we were in the room only long enough for them to agree they could not get the a/c working.
- Kathy (8/5): - Great place, ok location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I stayed in the suites which were the single rooms that looked like apartments. Everything was rather basic but i knew that when i reserved my room. Staff was helpful and did a great job of tidying up the room everyday.
- Al (2/5): - We were trying to go like budget... and it was very affordable, but even at the low cost we paid... it was very disappointing.
The staff was fantastic... totally understanding and gave me a full refund for our early departure.
- David (6/5): - Stayed here 8 nights in Dec 2018. I like the property because of it's proximity to family I had staying in Bucerias. It was reasonably priced but the property is older and not in great shape. I was very kindly upgraded from a single room to a junior sweet so I feel I that what I paid was reasonable for what I got BUT I would NOT have paid $125/night for what I got.
- Chris (6/5): - Hotel overall was OK for the price. Room had a noticeable mildew smell. Towels were not changed daily. Bed was a little hard to sleep on; although, it was a king size. If you are looking for a cheap hotel just to sleep, this is the one, without the fancy stuff. The hotel lobby and the outside was very clean. The most attractive part is that the beach is at a walking distance from the hotel.
- 595ismaelg (2/5): WTF !! - Room is not clean , bathroom smells bad, stained sheets , etc etc and expensive !!
Dont waste your money here ...
Entire facility needs repairs, maintenance and cleaning
Cant think of anything being ok.....
- Steve (8/5): - Weather was nice with an afternoon breeze. Caught a beer and music at it's small, on-site bar.
- kathy (8/5): We liked the sandy beach - Beds could be more comfortable
Rock hard enjoyed the beach and sun
- liela (4/5): Nice beach, that’s about all. - Nice beach, that’s about all.
Two double beds, not acceptable. No ability to change. Very far from the centre of town
- LisaVollweiter (2/5): Just don't do it. - I can't even believe we just paid 2700 pesos for this place. The doors didn't close or lock, the water in the kitchen didn't work, thr bathroom was so unclean we put towels done to walk in it and their were dirty tissues on the balcony. Maybe if it was cheaper I would've expected these things, maybe if the receptionists were nice I wouldn't have bothered with the review.
It is beautiful from the outside. It's really too bad. The bar is great and that's it.
- Cesar (6/5): Should be cheaper - Just one night, but this hotel is like Taylor Durden's house on the fight Club movie. It's a s.hole, the only thing going for it, is the beach right next to it, that's very nice. Other than that, it's not cheap enough.
- tonatiuho (6/5): Good but not great. - I went with family, wife and two kids with a groupon, you get what you pay, in my case was a single room with 1 bed.
The location is not great if you dont have a car, the restaurant is very limited, personel is fine with service and the rooms are also fine.
- DaveB6901 (10/5): Hidden Gem🌴🌴🌴 - beautiful beach front hotel... Excellent ownership shows through out property... On site restaurant and bar... Fun🌴. Staff has pretty good English and wonderful.. The beach is clean and the water is safe for children as there is a large sand bar for 15 yards or so that you can stand up...
- Victor (8/5): - Our stay was good,we liked that it was close to the beach , food was good , we liked how close we were to the pool , the hotel had free wifi
- kimpJ817XS (6/5): Beautiful Location - We were here for just one night on our way to our home in Guayabitos. We had some business to take care of and so we chose a place close by. We wanted oceanfront and a place to potentially recommend to family coming to the area. The location is stellar. The two bedroom villa was clean and spacious, although furnishings in main floor were just adequate. The TV remote did not work, nor did the light in our bedroom. We got a maintenance person in to fix but he was unable to fix either before we would depart. We booked because they had breakfast at 8, but it wasn't served until 9:30, so we were almost late for our appointment, although food was very good. I found it to be super expensive for quality, but then we were there in midst of Santa Semana. ( March 30)
- Sammyfavela (10/5): Excellent and cheap place - This is a wonderful place, I had a lot of fun. The only problem I think was that the street that was in front of the hotel has holes. The pool has a water slide and I loved it, I think that they should change the chlorine they put on the pool because every time I open my eyes under the water, my eyes burn. When I go there, I get a lot of mosquito bites, so they should do something about that. The food tastes great, I love it and if you want sea food, there is a place right across the street called buzzos where you can get some sea food. The service was fantastic, the staff is super nice. I also think that they should fix the computer, or should buy new ones. The books that are in the library aren't really interesting, they should get new books there. I love that there is a soccer field just across the street, and there is a pool and a ping pong table. There is also a little playground in the hotel for kids to play with. This is a pet friendly hotel, so you can bring your pet with you to the trip. This place is so cheap and has a great environment I really recommend this place to anyone.
- Emerson (10/5): - Great place, Next to the beach.
Cheap, clean and friendly staff.
- Jorge (4/5): Needs better staff and maintenance - They coul never give us copies of the key. Its an 8 person bungalow and we had to juggle the 1 key they had. Not even the cleaning ladies had extra keys. They claimed the accountant ( BTW, why the heck the accountant? ) went to town for copies but 3 days later the copies never arrived.
The cleaning ladies would refuse to come back at a later time to clean.
The beds and sheets are old. They also need to provide more and thicker blanckets and bed covers because it can be cold at night during the winter.
- LJP (6/5): Great fo large Families - Great for a large family gathering. Close to beach and two pools for swimming on the property. Bathrooms needs to be updated and painted.
- CarolineCDM (10/5): Great place to spend the day! - My family and I, along with a couple of friends, bought day passes and spent the day at the Bungalows Princess. The pass was $100 pesos, 100% of which can be applied towards their reasonably priced food and drink. The beach in front of the hotel was beautiful and close. The soft sand under foot and calm water made it a great place to enjoy the ocean. Their two pools are relatively small, but were clean. One pool has a very fun, fast water slide. We had a very relaxing day and will definitely go back!
- enjois (10/5): Simply Amazing - We traveled unexpectedly and ended up staying here for the night and ended up staying a whole week, it was me and my whole family (10). Service was great, everyone was very very nice like the other lady reviewed as well. The swimming pools are awesome, the slides are a lot of fun for everyone not just kids. The view to the beach is like no other, you stand outside your porch and you can literally jump down off it and land on the sand and walk a few feet to the beach. I would mos deff recommend this place and would come back.
- MaryAnn (8/5): walking distance to restaurants and shopping - The room was clean with modern plumbing & A/C. Our only complaint is that the room had only one full size bed, no night stands or lamps for reading. We were given only ONE bath towel each. No beach towels were provided. Other than that the facilities were awesome: two pools, walk right into the ocean, a restaurant for breakfast & lunch and a small bar for drinks, great nachos! and light dinners. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. Great location.
