Guest Reviews
- Chork Yee (8/5): - Very nice little place No idea
- Jamie (9/5): -
- Michael (8/5): Beautiful lake view from this roadside inn. - Great location and view of water. Tub slippery. Could use a bath mat.
- Debra Lynn Baker (8/5): Convenient stop rolling thru on the 17 - Nice room, great location, very clean. We were charged and paid for 2 people. There was enough coffee provided for one person (for a bodum coffee pot) The rate was high enough that another 2 scoops of coffee would NOT have broken their bank. Rather frustrating for an early morning departure
- Lovetta (4/5): It was ok but not likely will ever stay again - Did not have anything in the morning, No coffee in room, could not get any ice, tv service was poor.
- Hossein (3/5): - Parking was accessible and close, and the room view was good. The living room was extremely dirty. The sofa was heavily stained and unclean. The curtains were messy and dirty. The bathtub had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The room lighting was very poor, to the point that I had to use my phone’s flashlight to locate the second light switch.
It was previously stated that a coffee maker would be available in the room; however, there was none—only a French press. There was also not enough drinking water provided for consumption or for making coffee.
Additionally, there is no access to any nearby restaurants except for a Chinese restaurant that belongs to the same property. Overall, I do not recommend this place at all.
- Natascha (8/5): - Nice location, clean room with local decor. We were on the 1st floor and could hear people above us walking. The small fridge didn’t have a freezer for our ice packs.
- Sharon (10/5): Very pleased with the accommodations ... would come and stay again. -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Blair (10/5): -
- Brent (3/5): Okay room. Terrible service. - Pet friendly There is no staff on site or available in any way outside of their “business hours” of 11 am to 9 pm. There is no emergency contact number for guests to contact staff if needed. The recorded message on their business phone states their hours of 11-9, and literally states NOT to leave a message. My wife accidentally locked herself out of her room while taking her bags to the vehicle in the morning, and had to wait until staff showed up at 11 to get back into her room. Absolutely ridiculous.
- Russell (9/5): -
- CARLA (5/5): I felt for the time of year (off season) I did not consider it a good deal for what you get. - Liked that the property was close to a grocery store The smell of pinesol was so strong in our room that I had a headache all night. I realize they use it for cleaning but it was REALLY strong. They advertise a Chinese restaurant but it’s for take out only and the food was cold when we got it. Even though our room was about 10 steps from where we picked it up. There was a wired coffee maker in the room and not instructions on how to use it. The beds were old and not very comfortable. There was no heat or air conditioner in the room that we could control. Overall not really happy.
- Tricia (8/5): Pretty location - Big space, updated tvs and bedding, comfortable bed, beautiful view from 2nd floor outside unit. Quiet and private. Had a bit of an odour, poor lighting and no temperature control.
- Michael (9/5): Cozy and scenic - Very clean and comfortable! Beautiful scenery! Friendly staff! Easy to find! A bit far from anything
- Janet (7/5): Excellent Value - Although it was a struggle to get our 11 year old dog to climb the stairs, the 3rd floor suite was worth it. It was nice to have the extra space. Loft ceiling and the seperate seating area with couch, chair and small table w/ chairs make this an excellent value for the price!
We only stayed the night on our road trip but the suite would work for anyone staying for a few days.
As per the usual in many hotel/motel spaces it needs a bit of a deep clean, dust behind the tv's and on the picture frames, kettle needed a wipe down, just the little things that are missed if you are not the tenant/guest. Otherwise the bathroom was clean and the towels and bedding were clean and of good quality.
We would definitely stay here again.
- Wade (9/5): Nice spot. Excellent service. - Clean, friendly and great location No issues
- Rich (10/5): On the lake - Setting Steps
- Heather (8/5): -
- David (3/5): Hotel fell far from my previous stays. - The location and view The room was dirty. Like there was spilled sticky stuff on my floor from the previous guests.
The television only has audio. There was no staff there to answer to phone or desk when the problem arose to me.
- Marilyn (8/5): -
- Michael (9/5): Its now my go to place to stay in Kenora - Excellent location, cozy and warm Bed was hard but still com
- DasNeves (10/5): Super pause dans notre roadtrip - Le charme de la déco, le rapport qualité prix, l’espace était propre, calme, jolie vue que le lac et super pour nos chiens (acceptés sans frais supplémentaires)
- SHAWN (9/5): very nice place. great food - loved the views/scenery. restaurant onsite was a bonus. food was great a litte far from town but worth it
- Gonidis (8/5): - Really nice room Staff was unfriendly
- JACQUES (5/5): - La chambre était propre et formidable. Salle à manger fermer mais sur le site il spécifie que l'on peut manger sur place.
Ils sont rigides pour l'heure d'arrivée pas avant 15h00.
- David (9/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): - Friendly, happy staff. Will definitely recommend Timberland to others Couldn't do the stairs, but staff was able to accommodate me
- Chris (8/5): -
- Marie-Claude (10/5): C’est très beau mais je ne crois pas y revenir - L’emplacement est superbe et la décoration ! Le bouchon du bain ne tenait pas et l’insonorisation inexistante !
- David (8/5): -
- Aubri (7/5): -
- Kabestra-Savage (3/5): -
- John (10/5): Spacious, clean and quiet. A Gem. -
- Lisa (6/5): Adequate but expensive. - No breakfast. Beds were worn, they needed to rotate the to flip the worn out mattress to the outside .
Some tea in the coffee supplies.
- Jeanne (7/5): It serviced its purpose. - The room setup The coffee pot. I made a mess with it and ate the grounds. You should put in normal pots, especially for ppl in a hurryi
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Terry (8/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): - Room was very clean and comfortable.
- Tamara (7/5): -
- Lynda (8/5): Nice place to stay when travelling in Kenora - Room was comfortable and had a lake view. Wi fi did not work in our room as we were the furthest from the office
- RICHARD (9/5): -
- Louise (9/5): Highly recommended. - No breakfast.
Wished we could have stayed another day. Smeoo of incense. I opened the window for fresh air.
- Stephen (10/5): A great night in a great place👍 - One of the best laid out hotel rooms I have stayed in.
Located in a great neighbourhood, close the lake,
- Catherine (9/5): - Comfortable & roomy
- Diane (10/5): - The location and amenities.
- Rubio (9/5): -
- Gail (8/5): - The view of the lake was fantastic. The room was clean and well kept. Good value.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): - Large, well equipped room
Nicely updated
Clean and cozy
nice view of lake
- Pamela (10/5): -
- RICHARD (7/5): - great location. nice rooms. clean. friendly accomodating staff. the restaurant was closed so unable to rate that aspect. looking forward to it reopening
- Olena (10/5): -
- Johnson (10/5): Nice, clean, comfortable, rustic, hotel with a restaurant. - We've stayed here once before and we had a great experience both times. The rooms are rustic, but nice and clean with comfortable beds. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Any time we're in the Kenora area we will choose this hotel.
- Randy (8/5): - Room was cozy/comfy but the room above us was loud. Anytime someone would walk it sounded like they were moving furniture. Can hear everything. The furnace/AC unit is also very loud and looks very old-needs cleaning. The bed sheet on one of the beds was stained. I put the other sheet on top of it just incase it wasn’t clean. Otherwise nice location, for the most part was a clean room.
- Roger (8/5): -
- Trisha (8/5): - Relaxing atmosphere
- Luis (10/5): - Quiet, clean room and facility nearby many amenities including a park with a beach.
- Michael (8/5): - Very quiet. Very nice room A little tricky driving in and out.
- Daniel (8/5): - Clean room with water view. Beautiful area
- Brian (10/5): - Great property! lovely setting with views of lake. Spacious 1 bedroom suite felt cozy and relaxing. Bed, shower, and furnishing we all excellent. We'd stay again.
- Marcus (8/5): - Staff was great. Contacted me before I arrived and layed out check-in instructions. Lockbox entry to room. And responded quickly to a question. Thunder storm while there but I’m sure it’s great in the summer to sit around outside.
- Kathy (9/5): This was a very convenient place to stay as well as very comfortable and well looked after. - Very comfortable and clean.
- Grant (8/5): - We were confused with the check-in procedure as the message only came at 1 o’clock while we were travelling and we didn’t see it till after we got there we are not used to checking in through a lock box on the door
- Dennis (8/5): - Seems like a good place to stay, but only get a text, seems "cold". Paperwork for our room?
- Karen (6/5): - Clean room with comfortable beds. There was a full size French press with about a tablespoon of ground coffee. Not enough to make even 1 coffee. No tea bags, but a lot of coffee whitener and sugar. So no point really.
- RICHARD (9/5): - Staff was friendly at front desk. Room was great. Cant beat the location, nice view of lake. Parking was tight for work vehicle but fine.
- Kimlynne (10/5): Lovely rooms. - Best bathtub ever! Parking spaces much too narrow for today’s travelers. Too many travelers driving the oversized trucks that’s made to haul trailers and other heavy machinery. We hybrid drivers don’t stand a chance to squeeze between 2 trucks.
- Linda (8/5): Room was very clean and comfortable, nice to have the Chinese take out right on site ! - Spacious and very clean rooms
- Ray (6/5): - Comfortable but can use a good clean.
- Diane (10/5): - The hotel was a nice stay . We would go back and recommend it
- Lorraine (10/5): - We really enjoyed the ambience of the property. The individual rooms were very unique. We would have enjoyed the common area as it’s beautiful but it was raining.
- Carrie (6/5): - Room was spacious and clean. No traffic noise. The Inn is old and tired, needs work and the restaurant isn't really a restaurant as the kitchen is only open for take out.
- Lori (10/5): - This is a hidden gem! Comfortable rooms with a lake view! Great take out restaurant plus ample outdoors space and balcony for each unit. A short walk to the beach with a swim dock and playground. Will stay here again! 😀
- Sharon (8/5): - Large room and only 5kms out of town. Easy walk to lake shore
- Joel (10/5): - Très belle chambre, très propre avec emplacement idéal. Le personnel est accueillant et les extérieurs sont très agréables.
Literie confortable 😊 Cela reste très cher pour une nuit en motel
- Thomas (10/5): - A quiet picturesque spot tucked away. Though just barely off the highway, it is entirely quiet and serene. Room was nicely done and spacious! Luxury vinyl flooring meaning no carpet adds to the cleanliness score. Parking area is adequate and close and hidden from passersby. Beds were comfortable with nice linens.
I don’t know enough about the local market to comment on the affordability of this room, but judging by the occupancy rate today, it’s probably worth what they are charging.
- Ryan (2/5): - It is close to a beach. The owner was very rude when I arrived a little early. The room was dirty and full of insects. The Inn has a permanent light in the entryway that glares through the window into the room, making it difficult to sleep. This light also attracts bugs that invade the room as soon you open the door. There were no bath towels, and no one in the office after 9pm, and no way to contact anyone by phone. This place is extremely overpriced and run down. The only redeeming quality is its proximity to a small beach.
- wood (7/5): Would not return at that price - Not worth what I paid. Room was obviously renovated which was satisfactory but building tired looking
- Dykstra (10/5): -
- Gilles (8/5): Good. Suggest instructions on how to use coffee press. - Lovely property in a quiet setting We did not realize there were so many stairs. That was our fault. We asked for a 1st floor room, but missed it still had stairs to get to.
- Alan (7/5): -
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was not able to check in Friday night as I arrived later and so had to stay 45 minutes further away. They still charged me for 2 nights.
- Brie (6/5): - The air conditioning unit/heat unit was filthy and disgusting~full of so much dust that we breathed it in for our entire stay. Otherwise, the room was clean. The Owner acted as if he had never seen us before every time we came in to order Chinese food and/or check in and check out. I asked him to throw my garbage away and he said that they don't have a garbage even though they have a full working kitchen!! How is this legal? They also don't recycle which is absolutely despicable in this day and age! He told me that nowhere in Kenora recycles which is clearly not true~there are recycling bins all over Kenora. Educate yourselves people! Lastly, the Owner complained when I asked for a couple of extra small packages of sauce for the Spring Rolls, saying that the sauce doesn't come with them.. We just spent 5 nights at your Motel, ordered your Chinese Food for 3 nights, and this is the treatment we get?! Cheap Cheap Cheap. Learn some Hospitality Skills. Thank you
- Karen (6/5): Adequate for what we needed - We are staying again as there’s no other places available in our return date. The bed was comfortable. It was dated and slightly run down.
- Pierre (10/5): - Beautiful room
- Hei Tung Chloe (10/5): - Dog friendly and clean! It was a nice stay for one night.
- Alma (8/5): - Clean good stay with kids
- Stephen (8/5): I would stay again - The room was quite spacious even with 2 large beds. All facilities worked including microwave, refrigerator and kettle. Despite the issue of the floor cleaning as per my dislike’s below, the room was very comfortable.
The close proximity to the nice park by the river. It was nice to sit and have some food and drink at the picnic tables provided on a calm summer night. Three deer walked past the car park driveway as we arrived. There were not enough car parking spaces for the number of rooms. The cleaners had used a little too much chemical on the floor and it was a bit slippery and the room had a slight odour as we entered the room.
- Denise (6/5): - Scramble parking plus spots too small The structure is at the edge of hiway in front but back is very steep. Units are contiguous and built on rock. Not much can be done about terrain. Wooden steps are terraced and wide. Beds in our unit were horrible and are not made up but unit was very clean, minimal and served our needs for a two day, two night stay. Very quiet. Checking in and out fast and simple. Would stay again.
- Brian (9/5): A little out of the way but a comfortable hotel with character. - Unique rooms in a quiet location.
- Joanne (10/5): - Great little gem of a hotel.
- Stacey (10/5): The office was closing before our arrival and the staff called me with check in instructions and left lockbox with a ke - We were able to travel with our dog. It was very clean, affordable, comfortable bed. N/A
- Shauntell (8/5): Good location - Hotel was nice, good location best part is the location is there where no sketchy people hanging around.
- Roxanne (4/5): Disappointing for the price - Room is very spacious. We loved the vaulted ceiling -chalet type feel .
But it had very cheap unsuccessful DIY renovations in the bathroom
Very dark room.
We were excited to bbq outside but no utensils to use the bbq. A little dissapointing.
Overall our stay was ok but for the price we had way higher expectations.
- Julie (7/5): -
- Danielle (8/5): -
- Mei yi (8/5): - Room was clean and location is convenient, but a few issues
Stayed in Room 9. Overall, the room was fairly clean and the location is very convenient — easy access to transportation and nearby restaurants.
However, there are a couple of things that could be improved. The washroom door makes a loud noise when opening and closing, which was quite disturbing, especially at night. Also, the mattress seems to be quite worn out — the springs didn’t provide enough support. I only weigh around 100 lbs, but I could still feel the lack of support, which made sleeping uncomfortable.
Not a bad stay overall, but would be much better with a quieter bathroom door and a newer mattress.
