• Raymond (2/5): - AVOID AMBER RESIDENCE AT ALL COST. First impression: dirty & run down. The hotel workers are slow and lazy. None of TVs in the rooms work. Water starts & stops. Air Conditioning busted on second night. Couldn't sleep in the heat. They changed my room to another that had a box spring for a mattress. The springs dug into my tibs and back. Couldn't sleep again. Room safe hinge busted. Door handle falling off. The stairs to the rooms are steep. Garbage in hallway. Staff too lazy to clean rooms. Have to beg them to do it multipe times. Spoke with owner, Jean-Phillip on the last night. He said the mattress is just firm. I took him to my room, no.45. to show him. He pressed on the mattress and acknowleged it's just a box spring but didn't offer to do anything about it. The owner simply dismissed all the issues by proclaiming his hotel is the cheapest near Patong Beach. I told him if i knew air conditioning doesn't work and i have to sleep on.a box spring, i would never book the room. He shrugs and went back to his bottles of wine in the lobby. I filed multiple complaints with Expedia. As of now, no results nor resolution. Amber Residence is a fraud. The front desk photo on Expedia is fake. Amber and its staff are the singular worst nightmare of Patong Beach. Stay there at your own peril.
• Faruk (2/5): - There was a very rude reception and hotel owner. The rooms were clean but the woman at the reception was very rude and so was the hotel owner, a European gentleman.
• Nathalie (6/5): - Wir waren nur für eine Nacht dort als wir in Thailand ankamen und das hat auch vollkommen gereicht. Die Klimaanlage war sehr laut, so dass man kaum schlafen konnte. Bei unserer Ankunft fragten wir wie der TV funktioniert. Die Antwort kurz und bündig: der ist kaputt. Das Frühstück war leider nicht gerade top, obwohl sich das Personal sehr Mühe gegeben hat einen Teller vorzubereiten.

• 41shirank (2/5): The worst night ever! - resident puket hotel, I am limited in walking and it was not written that the room is on the 4th floor without an elevator, after I asked they gave me a room on the 3rd floor, I went to take a nap and there was constant noise every 5 minutes for 3 hours so I asked to vacate, I called the hotel owner who said it was not his problem and he is not returning the money, insolently He hung up on me! In addition, when I came back from dinner at night, the hotel was locked and there was no one to talk to. I looked for help for an hour. The workers doesent speak engliah and doesnt Read a translation, very frustrating, the balcony faces a wall, the place is very noisy and old, very not recommended!!
• jenspeter1405 (2/5): Expensive and poor food - My mate and I went there today to grab a quick lunch. Turned out the lunch wasn’t going to be a quick grab. A huge sign “no smoke - fine 2000 baht” with the owner smoking a cigarette at the table next to us. The food arrived with a warm sprite and fries more cold than the drink. Phuket and Pattong is great as long as you stay away from here(;

• Verified traveler (6/5): - At check in time, was told that reservation was cancelled by Expedia. After suggesting that we both call Expedia together, owner became cooperative, and "did me a favor". I got room 45. Balcony was 1 meter by 2 meters, faced wall of next building, that was 1 meter away. The room was noisy. Owner tried to blame next building, but inside wall was shaking. Some pump went off every 30-45 seconds with a thud. Slept 3 hours each night. Room looked modern. But owner is either playing games or just does not read his bookings too well.
• ezpetni (8/5): Recommended - We stayed at Amber Residence for 9 nights during our stay in phuket on December 2018. The place was clean and everything was provided for (clean towels, toilet and shower essentials and bottled water every day). When we arrived everything was ready and no delays. We arrived there around early afternoon and the owner, Oscar, was waiting for us. When we checked out it was 1 am, so that's also possible, Oscar is very accommodating. Oscar is probably the highlight of this place. He was very helpful, he provided us with anything we asked (reasonably) and he even helped us book the best island tours. He is also very friendly and makes conversation regularly. We booked the room for 3 people and it was exactly as advertised. It was big and airy and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The shower and toilet were great and roomy. There was a big closet and a fridge and some cupboards. As I understood all the rooms are in the top floors, as the bottom floor is used for the restaurant facilities. Rooms are not very easily accessible for people with disabilities, as there are only stairs to the floors above. A couple of things that were kind of bothersome: 1. The room is on top of the very busy main road of patong beach so there is always a lot of noise from traffic, so be prepared to use earplugs or earphones to sleep. 2. The staff don't really speak any English so it is hard to communicate sometimes but Oscar was there most of the time to make sure everything was understood. All in all I would say that this place is one of the best to stay at patong beach and definitely recommend it.
• Christina (10/5): Great choice!!! - We had a really pleasant stay at Amber residence! The owner named Oscar was an excellent Profesional and he did for us everything that was possible to make our vacations perfect! He helped us with everything even book taxis and island tours in really good prices! The breakfast wasn't fancy but it was really good. Also the Italian foods that they make to their restaurant is brilliant, we had lazagnia and I totally recommend if you stay there to taste it. Only two negatives : there was traffic noise in the night and they need to renew their towels. But these 2 things must not keep you away from booking there. It was totally worth it! Thank you Oscar for everything and hope to see you again!!!!
• Tour274788 (10/5): The best hosting ever! - The place is near everything in Patong so the location is great. The rooms comfortable even for 3 persons with big bathroom. Although the best thing about this residence is the owner, Oscar! He just will help you with everything if you just ask him! He knows the best professionals for boat tours, taxi service, elephant visiting, about everything! We booked everything through him and to very good prices. He is also willing to solve at the time every problem you might have with the accommodation (exp. We run out of bath soap he give us right away) Good breakfast, not fansy but nice. Very good Italian plates on the menu. The only problem you might find it will be the fact that is a little bit noisy the road at night but not from bars, just from the cars passing. And last they must renew the towels. But Oscar's hospitality passes through every negative. Thank you Oscar and Claudia!

• joeyb736 (2/5): Will never book this place again - We arrived at 6am to this place, nobody around, so we had to wait 2 hours till somebody showed up a local lady, bad english so comunication was on level 0, after 8.30am some lad from Italy attended us, we were happy to finally get some rest and relaxation but instead first day turned to be a nightmare as he said to us that we never paid for this stay and that he has no space where to put us, so we called our agent and tried to put them together on the phone but i realised that the mr.manager said another version to our agent that he can see our names in his database but he never recieved the payment,after he hang up on agents face... I called her again and asked whats going on, she tried to explain to him that she could of pay the price through POS machine as it was available in residence, so i told him and offered him this option and after he said that he doesn't know how to take payment?!! So i went with him to his office with him and i seen that his computer is not even turned on, so how he can know if we are there or not??? Litteraly he ignored us all way, i will never recommend place like that, no efficiency and help at all... I don't like to complain but this had to be done as i am a traveler, i went to many parts of this world and i never had such a problem like that... If youre looking up to this place think twice..
• sachin0681 (6/5): hotel - The hotel is close to beach but cannot view it from room and also the fresh air in the gallery is obstructed by other building which is very near to hotel. The cleanliness also was not good. The staff are not so friendly. The shuttle service to airport is scheduled at 8 am and 10 am. not in the evening. We had to hire a car to go to airport which we paid 800 baht. Its very expensive to travel on private cars.

• 406demi (8/5): Great Value -Great location - For as cheap as it was, this was a very nice stay. The employees were very welcoming and allowed us to check in early. The room was a 7/10 in cleanliness. A/C worked well. It was spacious. Our balcony only functioned as a place to dry our towels- it faced the wall of the building next door. But the location was perfect. 3 minute walk to the beach and at a quiet-ish space of Patong Beach. We would stay here again.

The toilet are clean and big, the locker, the bench beside the bed, the television, the table in-front and balcony outside the room is just wonderful. The bed are KING size. I'm pleasure to stay there.
• BettyGrm (2/5): One word - dissapointed. - I really don't like giving negative reviews but this time I have to. We decided to go for dinner to this place, made drink/food order and waited. And waited. And waited until we asked again at least for the drinks - the lady said she forgot. Water and juice - pretty complicated order, huh? Main course Pad thai - two bites and I had enough. Terrible. And this do not happen to me in the restaurants especially when I was so hungry! Finally we wanted to pay but again - waited waited and waaaaited but nobody came. After another 5 minutes of waiting we asked for bill - "Sure" the said. And again nothing. After another 5 minutes other lady came so we asked for bill again - 5 minutes and NOTHING. We were even thinking of leaving without paying because that lack of interest was just unbelievable. The end.
• MartinaNobil (10/5): Lovely place - I love this place. They opened few months ago with new staff and with the restaurant where the kitchen is Italian-Thai and it’s amazing. The boss and his wife (both Italians) are very nice. She cook every day so also pasta is hand made. Highly recommend!!

The furniture such as bed and sofa is comfortable. The Owner (Oscar) and his family are qualified, courteous and always solve every request. Perfect customer service! We felt relaxed, appreciated and would recommend this hotel to anyone. We are so pleased and convinced about the Hotel that we even extended our stay. • lisOelstykke (10/5): Stopped for the rain - We just need a stop for a incredible rain, were meeting by a kind staff, we ordered 2 beer and - French fries, they bring us some pizza to start with, for free. Very nice. We had a talk with the owner, a very kind man..... there’s a hotel on the place too....it’s just started up in April.
• youcef49 (10/5): Recommended hotel - Very nice hotel. It opened since only 3 month so they work hard for their image. The staff is just so kindly, you cannot imagine. They offered me some drinks and had a long discussions about all and nothing with the boss. The hotel is incredibly clean and the Italian food is perfect, cooked by an Italian guy, and is really cheap. Can also find Thai food. Anyone having a driving license can rent a motorbike for nothing (200-2000 BHT depending on the moto) and the choice is pretty large. To finish, their coffee is absolutely awesome. A real Italian coffee. I recommend whithout hesitation.
• oscaraccio (10/5): Fantastic experience - 100 meter walkingh distance from the famous Patong beach. The new management refurbished the hotel in Mai now looking quite attractive. Rooms, kitchen, reception, all areas are clean and new staff professional. Room rates are exceptional value for money compared to other hotels nearby. A must to try is their restaurant offering very good taste home made thai food and Italian food
• 麻煩的香港人Jack (6/5): - Seems...room 205 (the 2th floor the last room on the right hand side) Bad: 1. The door of terrace can't close completely. 2. Many many ants (above 100s) come in from the this gap! Gap > refrigerator > sofa > bed! Actually, they pass through the bed to other place, so just a few ants on the bed. 3. The door between two room didn't lock. I open the door saw someone sleeping in the next room ~_~""" I close and lock the door immediately. 4. The light in the room a bit dim Good: 1. Nice staff 2. • Coastal437705 (10/5): The best hostel with the best staff - The owners are very nice, they speak English well, you can rent a scooter, every morning clean rooms, towels! very good price for the room and breakfast is included they helped you with everything, special requests European meals can be eaten, very delicious as well if you are on a trip, you can also take breakfast for takeaway the beach is very close , but the neighborhood is not noisy
• Mike (2/5): katastrophale Organisation!! - 4 Wochen im Voraus gebucht. Nach einer langen Anreise bin ich dort angekommen und es hat mich ein Italiener an der Rezeption empfangen. (sehr nett aber nur wenig englisch Kenntnisse) DAS HOTEL WAR AUSGEBUCHT KEINE ZIMMER VORHANDEN!!!??? Das Hotel hat mich dann nach langem diskutieren 10m weiter in ein anderes gesteckt (weis den Namen nicht mehr) - Zimmer sehr klein (abgestuft) - Sehr lautes Umfeld - Insekten im Zimmer - klapperndes Fenster die ganze Nacht - Morgens um 6 wurde auf dem Dach gehämmert. Ich habe mich trotzem entschieden dort eine Nacht zu übernachten, weil es schon Abends um 11war. Fazit: einfach nur schreklich!

• doyelr2018 (2/5): Avoid this hotel like plague - We had a pre-booking at Amber Residency, Phuket and we reached there on the day before New Years eve. On reaching, we were told there is no booking. We had traveled for almost 24 hours by then and with a 2 year old and were absolutely tired. The owner, a lady was so insensitive. She started raising her voice to prove her point that there were no rooms and no bookings have been made. So, when we shared the expedia booking id our booking details flashed on their system. The lady's husband was on the contrary, a gentleman who let us wait at the reception till we find a hotel and let us use the charging point. It was one hell of a harrowing experience.

The rooms and bathrooms are very dirty, they dont have bar or restaurant, they steal your money (if you make the mistake to leave them in the safe of the room), they search from the rooms and they check your staff/ lagagge. • Brunozen (8/5): Clean budget hotel - Obviously there is a new management in this place and we found some of the previous reviews irrelevant. The room was very clean and comfortable, AC works fine and the water heater too. 24hrs reception and nice staff (with low level of English but it wasn't a problem) Good value for Patong
• Verified traveler (6/5): Satisfactory stay - Stayed here for 8 days. Quiet location close to the beach at a reasonable price. Staff were accomodating ( even those with limited English). Negative points: air condition was noisy/ occasionally dripping with water. Daily towel change however poor deep cleaning/mopping of floor. Do not leave loose change on the table as this will be gone when you get back to your room. Started tipping cleaner to prevent any awkward situation.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Would recommend but read this review!!! - The hotel is nice and by UK standards quite cheap. The pictures are better than the reality, they have probably been taken when the hotel was just refurbished (looks like 10 years ago). It doesn't look like the management have invested in proper maintenance as it's quite run down which is a shame as it would have been a good place to stay if you're not a snob. Can't complain about cleanliness and service but the overall condition let's it down. We stayed in three different rooms (because we were travelling in between): one had ants in the bathroom, one had low water pressure the third didn't have proper water temperature control. On the plus side the staff were great, breakfast was nice, great location (beach minutes away), shop next door, lively street to feel safe. If you're on a budget and are there to explore then it's a good place to stay.
• Ulrika (4/5): Ganska mycket trassel - Jag och min sambo bodde pa hotellet under tva veckor. Det var ganska mycket trassel. Vi fick forst ett rum dar safetyboxen inte satt fast och inte fungerade. Vi saknade aven fjarrkontrollen till tv:n sa den inte gick att anvanda. Vi sa till om dessa saker och fick byta rum till ett mindre rum. Dar fungerade det mesta forutom nagra av lamporna. Vi sa till om det men det fixades aldrig. Trist att inte kunna lasa pa kvallen. I var bokning ingick aven frukost som vi hade betalat och papper pa. Hotellet nekade detta. En dag hade vi inget vatten pa rummet sa det gick inte att ga pa toaletten eller duscha. Balkongen pa rummet var sa liten sa dar gick det bara att sitta en person. Trots alla problem sa var hotellrummet ganska mysigt och det var nara till stranden. Lag dock pa en valdigt trafikerad gata.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Shame about the booking system - Sadly when I arrived they were full, the front desk were friendly but in the end I ended up finding somewhere else on my own. Still haven't received a refund.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Good location good price good service - we went there with 4 friends and they gave us two master connected rooms, it was great to have both rooms connected with a door. Price is good, staff very helpful and friendly, the hotel is just 1 minute walk from the beach.
• Tine (8/5): God service! - Koselig lite hotell, med veldig god service. Nær beliggenhet til stranden, og utenfor støy fra Patong sentrum. Greit i forhold til prisen!
• Merdan (10/5): Good stay! - Very nice small hotel. Located in the north part of Patong beach (quite at night, not so many nightclubs and cafes around). The beach is 5 minute walk, and Jungceylon Mall/Bangla Road is about 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. The staff was very helpful and nice.
• Kirill (8/5): Thank you Amber Residence - I was staying in a Deluxe room on the 4th floor (the hotel has no elevator)which was very clean and spacy enough for two. This room has no view to please your eyes but it does have one serious drawback: the inside door to the adjacent room; this means that if you have hotel guests next door from you, you will hear every word they say and every noise they produce. I was lucky, I had no next door neighbors. The hotel is located 150 meters from the beach in a quiet northern part of Patong and only 15 min stroll to Patong center. The hotel staff was super friendly, especially receptionist Jenni and her father, and I felt like home. All said, Amber Residence is a nice place for a short stay in Patong Beach and definitely a good value for the money.
• tao (10/5): 非常超值,下次还会来. - 很超值的酒店,相对于她这个价格,可以给全5分,虽然招牌不是很明显,但是还是很好找的,就在familymart旁边,离芭东海滩最多3分钟,位置极佳,客房也干净.
• james (10/5): Best value for money. - This hotel was the best value for money hotel we have stayed in, for the last 8 weeks. (We are a couple with a child two years old.). It was clean and tidy. Hotel staff where great. Breakfest was fantastic. If you want a five star hotel go some where else. I would rate this myself as five star hotel myself for the price. Phuket it's self is over price for thailand. But I would gladly come back to this hotel for a week or two. Quite as well. Big barthroom. Well set out rooms. Fridge and pay TV are great for the money. Loved it.
