Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): 未入住過沒有雪櫃的酒店房間 - 鄰近廟街,附近都是餐廳,找食很方便。
房間很舊,有點髒,有一點異味,最差的是沒有雪櫃。
- Ka leung (8/5): - All staff are friendly and helpful. Response for help is quick. All amenities are in good condition. The comfort of the bed is specially good, very suitable for me.
- Hau Wing (10/5): - 價錢平,環境舒適,地理位置方便。
- Verified traveler (4/5): - 房間晚上十一點左右會鑽牆
- Verified traveler (6/5): - 房間污糟,地下有食物,床單被鋪、有污跡
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The shower water is either so cold or so hot, there is no suitable water temperature. The room is very dirty and old. The staff is not helpful, sometimes their attitude is bad. You can definitely choose a better hotel with that price.
- ktrtontour (10/5): End of tour stay - This was the last hotel in our China Hong Kong tour. Good functional hotel. Clean, compact room. Free WiFi, first connections with outside world for a while! Close to bars and restaurants that ate reasonably priced. Close to all Kowloon's attractions and a walk from the harbour. We extended our stay by one night whilst there and found it reasonably priced. Fully recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - シャワーブースがもう少し広いと良い。
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 駅からも近くまあまあでした。
- 4105 (10/5): - 想定範囲内問題なし、今回の料金なら次回も利用
- george (6/5): - shower room so small
- Robster071 (8/5): Good affordable clean property close to transit and markets and a fair price - After three nights on Hong Kong Island the West Hotel was booked for nights number 4 and 5. Easy to get to as I hopped on the MTR at Central Station and 3 stops later I had passed under the harbor and arrived at Jordan Station. Big room and my least expensive in 10 nights in Hong Kong at just over $100CDN a night. I thought it was great value for the location, rooms size and quality of the property. Check in was simple and professional and I believe I got into the room early-2nd property in a row. I think it was only an hour or so but it's still nice. Check out was also quick and painless.
LOCATION-The hotel is located in the Jordan area of Kowloon on the mainland. It is on a quiet street but only a minute or two walk from busy Jordan Road and less than 10 minutes to busier Nathan Road. I popped up out of Jordan Station on the Tsuen Wan Line MTR line and walked maybe 10-15 minutes to the hotel. More people than you might think are pulling/carrying large pieces of luggage on busy Hong Kong streets and transit and if it wasn't so crowded everywhere you can move faster. There is another MTR Station(different line)-Austin, right at Jordan Road and the side street the hotel is on and is a great option to get down to the waterfront if you don't want to walk. There are restaurants, bars and a supermarket on the street the hotel is located on as well as many adjacent streets. The Temple Street Night Market is 5 minute walk away.
There are several hotels in the neighbourhood and I noticed a lot of mainland Chinese tourists/shoppers staying at the hotel and others in the area. The high speed railway crossing over from Shenzhen(and other cities in China) terminates at West Kowloon Station with underground pathways to the Austin MTR. I suppose it is convenient to stay close to transit-local or ones that cross borders. I do the same thing. It is also close to the Airport Express at Kowloon Station which is one of the reasons I chose the property. With luggage in hand it probably took me about 30 minutes to walk from the hotel to the station in the late morning heat and humidity. At a less busy time of day with nothing in hand you can probably cut 10 minutes off that trip. All in all it was a good location, close enough to transit, food, markets without all the action/noise immediately outside the front door.
ROOM-The room was the 2nd largest I had in Hong Kong and more comparable to a hotel room you would expect in North American cities. I found it to be clean and well maintained. That said, the bathroom is a little on the small side with a smallish shower. There were basic toiletries provided including toothbrushes. There was a handheld showered option-plus, good water pressure-plus, but the shower head was a bit low when affixed to the wall-small minus. The bed was large, there was enough storage and places to hang clothes, a desk, a safe and a small fridge. They even provided a couple of bottles of water, a kettle and some tea. There was a big flat screen TV and I think there may have been the odd non-Chinese language station but I can't remember for certain. There was also password enabled Wi-Fi that worked well enough. I was on the 20th floor and there was a view of Hong Kong buildings as far as you can see. The water and some mountains/islands can also be seen in the distance. I don't know why I ask for high floors since I only look out the window occasionally and it takes much longer to go up and down the elevator each time you need to go out/return.
SERVICES-I don't think this property had any facilities other than a small 'multi-function room'-check the hotel website for a picture. Space is at a premium in Hong Kong and unless you are in a high end property spending thousands or HKD a night don't expect pools, fitness facilities, restaurants, room service etc. There was an outdoor space access from the hotel lobby with some tables and chairs to sit at and enjoy some relatively quiet outside time. It is surrounded on all sides by high rise buildings so don't expect a single ray of sunshine.
*TIP*Read the maps of exits at each station-ideally online before you go, so you pick the best one to use and save some time. Exit A was the best one exiting Jordan Station-same side of the street so just walk along Jordan Road without crossing a major roadway with luggage was a plus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- AaronT8008 (10/5): Excellent! - Great price, excellent service and very friendly staff. Highly recommended 👌
It’s at the center of MK and TST. 1min walk from Austin station. Foods are downstairs, Temple street night market is 7mins walk away. Will be back next time.
- Klein (4/5): - The room is spacious comparing to normal hotels in recent district
- Graham (10/5): - This hotel has a great location and is near the metro station. Their are plenty of restaurants near by and corner stores. My room did smell a bit moist when I walked in but other than that everything was great.
- Timur (8/5): - Staff are good. Clean hotel. Good position. I have no complaints.
- VanLina (8/5): Good Location - We have booked a standard triple room for 4 nights, the room is big, spacious & clean. The location is near to the shopping street and morning market too. The fall back of this hotel was there’s no floor mat or bath slipper provided in the bathroom, thus makes the floor always wet and the wet floor is slippery. The hotel location is kind of far from Jordan Subway Station, need a good 15-20 mins walk.
For those who would like to use the OneBus to Macau, the bus pick-up point is just 2 streets down from the hotel, very convenient don’t have to go all the way to Elements. The Onebus pick-up point is actually at the Jade market street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really good location, nice and clean and a really good option for the money as the room was large with a private shower.
- SunayBhat (8/5): Good budget hotel - It is a good budget hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. The view from the room is good and the hotel is located to MTR station. There are a number of good restaurants and pubs on the same street. I recommend this hotel if you are travelling on a budget or solo.
- Heather (10/5): Bigger than usual - The rooms are bigger than the usual hotels in hong kong. We got the double room with sofa bed so the room is good for three. We did not pay for the extra person by the way. Walking distance to the night market, restaurants and money changer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient location in HKG. Close to MTR, Bus city flyer f4om airport and templestreet.
- Sailor11125 (6/5): Good Location is the strongest point - Stayed for one night in a short stopover from China heading home and wanted to be near to Kowloon Train Station for the airport express.
Ultimately, I think I would have been better off around Central where there was a greater number of hotels.
The hotel was clean, my room on the 20th floor would be best described as adequate if it was moderately priced, but at $350AUD for the night was inadequate and grossly overpriced imho. On top of this, the bed was the hardest, most uncomfortable bed I have every slept in.
As I said, the location is good but I will not repeat.
- Neville2148 (6/5): Overnight Stay Transit to China - Booked hotel recently on our transit to China. Chose hotel as it was within walking distance to West Kowloon HSR Station. Arrived from HGK by Airport Express which has a complimentary shuttle for most hotels in the area (but not West Hotel). There is a pedestrian walkway/subway that connects the 3 stations in the area so we just used these.
Hotel was clean & tidy, in the middle of Kowloon, 3 blocks from Temple St Night markets.
- W (8/5): - Friendly hotel manager, who was aware of the FedEx envelope that was waiting for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, just a few minutes walk from Kowloon station and airport express. Couple of blocks from Temple street night market but on a quiet street.
Room was very clean. Bed was very hard which I liked but some may not. Electric pot to boil water but no coffee in room, only tea. Nespresso machine and extra water in multifunction room. No tissue box. Small shower stall.
Good basic hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Family suite is a decent size. Very spacious.
- Adisah (8/5): - its very near to MTR Austin station. Easy to get around.
- ricktorgerson (10/5): Great location, not too pricey - I stayed here twice in January 2019 and found it to be a good, clean hotel located right in the middle of downtown Kowloon. It is literally only about 200 steps away from the metro station, from which you can catch the metro around HK, the speed train into China and the airport express train. It is also short walking distance to many things to see and do in Kowloon (outdoor market, shopping mansions, eateries). I will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There is not a restaurant. This ok as there are several eating establishments very. Near.
- weimin (2/5): Not worth my money - This is the 4th hotel I have stayed around Jordan Road in the past two years. It turns out to be the most costly but with the least comfort and amenities in the room and hotel. The shower cubical is so narrow and compact my elbows hit the walls no less than 7 times! There was not even tissues in the room! Nor a shower cap. Unlike at the other hotels I am glad that I only stayed at the West Hotel fir one night.
- Ken (2/5): Unpleasant Stay - Booked for 3 adults but asked to pay extra fees for sofa bed on arrival. This is ridiculous and hot argument with staff . It was an unpleasant stay!
- EVELYN P. (6/5): Location is good near MTR and shopping areas - Our booking is for Family room good for 4 pax but when we checked in, the receptionist advised us that the room is good for 3 pax only.
Also internet is not available on 3rd day.
- Peter S (10/5): Great Hotel and good location - The hotel is equidistant between Hong Kong's MTR Austin and Jordan Stations. It is only 5 minutes walk to the new Kowloon West High-speed Rail Station which was the reason I selected this hotel.
The streets east of the hotel are filled with great and inexpensive restaurants, markets, shops, foot massage parlors, etc. A little bit further (but only 10 minutes' walk) is the famous Nathan Road.
The hotel itself is nice, quiet, clean and comfortable. The price was quite decent for Hong Kong.
- suwittayat (8/5): Clean, good for stay - Surrounded by local street market, and local seafood. The location is not far from downtown(Mong KoK, Tsim Sha Tsui). This hotel is wider than I think.(I stayed in family-type room) The cost is not too much expensive.
- Al (10/5): - Location was great. Very close to MTR stations and easy to get to from Airport.
Check in and check out was super convenient. Was allowed to check in early and check out later, which helped with relaxing after a long flight.
Staff was friendly and room was clean.
Negative was that beds were super hard and that the shower took a long time to change temperature.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth staying - This is my second stay in this hotel. The hotel offers all that you need to stay comfortably. The location is the deciding point to choose as it is located where you can easily get food. A couple of blocks away and you can get the famous Australia Milk Dairy and Yee Shun's famous steamed eggs. Hotel is located 2 blocks from the airport bus A22 stop if you alight at the Shanghai Street.
- Thomas (2/5): Miserable stay in Hong Kong at West Hotel - Very rude staff!! We booked for 4 people but we were only provided bed and pillows for 3 even though we paid hotels.com for 4.. Absolute ripoff in modern day Hong Kong!!! How do we get a refund for the great inconvenience as we always trusted Hotels.com... We couldn’t even leave our bags at convierge after checkout..
- Eitan (10/5): - Great value for the night price. good location, not too far from Jordan Station and Austin station. moreover, walking distance from Kowloon station for the airport train. room is basic but clean. staff is nice and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is within walking distance to transportation & food. The staffs are mostly not cutomer friendly.
- SIERRA (6/5): - What I'm satisfied with: the price, convenient location, cleanliness, room size (surprisingly spacious for hk /budget/ accommodation standards), and overall customer service (front desk, housekeeping, maintenance. But I'm leaving 3 stars for the unstable wifi, toilet water tank leakage, and dispute with a staff early on during our stay (which left a bad taste..)
I made a reservation here on Expedia for a Family Suite, specifying 4 adults. The hotel only provided 3 sets of toiletries, so we asked for an extra towel. The next day, housekeeping only left us with 3 towels again, so we talked to one of the front desk staff.
He was adamant about the room we booked only providing 3 sets, but we tried to reason with him that when we booked, we booked for 4 people. If it ain't for 4 people, then why the hell was that an option? Like we're not trying to be difficult; we just want 4 towels cause we have 4 people.
He goes on to say that they don't care how many people actually stayed in the room. If we wanted extra toiletries, then we have to pay like $200HKD for an additional set. I WAS LIVID. Like bro are you insinuating that we being shady and snuck an extra person in? If you checked our booking, it says 4 people. And we just want 1 more towel, can't you fulfill that request??? Anyways, he caved in, and the next morning, we spoke to another staff who was very understanding. They placed a note on our room for housekeeping to leave us with 4 towels.
唔係麻煩友,淨係想要多條毛巾啫!
- Byron (10/5): - Awesome location, close to trains, buses, and shops. Very clean. Larger room than expected. Helpful staff. Will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - This hotel is well placed walking distance from Kowloon airport express station, elements, and MTR.
- Flitz8 (6/5): Good hotel but needs a improvement service - Stayed here for one night ,rooms were spacious but smelled of smoke.Beds were hard like most beds in China. The improvement needed is from service side, staff not friendly and are not helpful, not willing assist customer as they should.Close to temple market though .
- Michelle (6/5): Budget hotel - Hotel location is good, but lack of facilities and bring everything you need such as slippers..etc. Chargable luggage storage. Staff was not polite and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (8/5): O.K.! - The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean but the beds were hard, it is hard to find a soft bed in Hong Kong and to be honest this was the softest hard bed i have encountered so far ... so decent. will stay again
- Angie (6/5): Can consider - Location is not bad. Is a simple small hotel but the tower can be a better one as there was few days the towel was not clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great, affordable hotel option - Hotel is located near fun parts of town and walking distance to transportation. Room was clean....had a great view.
Mattress was a little hard. Otherwise great, affordable, option for your stay in HK.
- HenReeT (8/5): great hotel and location! - stayed here for 2 nights , very clean and nice rooms the beds were definitely a little hard but overall great hotel and great value , the staff were very kind and accommodating. location was great it was close to both jordan & kowloon station.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not good to recommend - Because Stopping warm water during taking shower, I could complete shower
- Verified traveler (6/5): Walking distance to Kowloon airport express statio - Stayed on the 19th floor which has recently been renovated
- Goatsonboats (6/5): Good for a budget hotel - Great option for a budget hotel. Although there are quite a few bad reviews I thought it was clean and comfortable compared to many other budget options.
The room was fairly basic, but clean. My only complaint is that it was challenging to get the shower to stay at a consistent temperature as it tended to jump between very hot and very cold.
The location was fine, close to transport, and walking distance to Kowloon park and temple street shopping. A bit of a hike to the island, but easy enough on the subway and only a 20 minute walk to the star ferry pier if you want to opt for a fun boat ride with a great view!
Overall, it was very functional hotel and a solid base from which to explore. I wouldn’t necessarily stay here if I was looking if I was looking to really relax and spend quite a bit of down time in the room, but considering the price of hotel rooms in HK, it offers a pretty good bang for buck for anyone on a budget.
- Alex3004 (4/5): Hard beds, old smelly hotel - Stayed for 1 night layover in Hk.
Pluses:
- Very good location - 5 mins walk to Kowloon (airport train), Austin and Jordan (like in the middle).
- helpful ok service.
- cheap for this location.
Minuses:
- old facilities. Smelly. Many smoking rooms.
- super hard beds. Impossible to have comfortable sleep (woke 3 times during night and painful neck and back in the morning);
- so-so wifi.
- failed wake up call as phone was broken.
In general ok for 1 night. But beds are awful.
- RachelP3141 (6/5): Hard beds - The room is clean and the hotel is in a good location. The staff were helpful and friendly, we were initially put in a smoking room and they were really good about letting us swap to a non smoking floor they made it really easy. The beds are incredibly hard i found sleeping very uncomfortable. bottles water provided.
- deacond736 (2/5): Absolutely awful! - We had just stayed at two Disney Hotels and so realised that this hotel would probably not live up to their standards but having looked at the reviews we thought the West Hotel seemed a good option - how wrong we were! After problems accepting our credit/debit cards we were eventually given the card key to our room. The first problem was we could not get in. My wife went down to reception 3 times only to be told it was working and we must of been putting it in wrong. The cleaner had a go and it did not work for her, so they eventually conceded there was something wrong with the lock. We did though gain entry at last but wish we hadn't as we entered the room of horrors. It was a family room with one double and one single bed, not what we were expecting. Off my wife went again to reception where she was told that we had only booked 2 adults and 1 child, it clearly stated on our booking form however 2 adults and 2 children. They did not accept this and then had the cheek to want payment for our other child - only then would they agree to put a sheet on the sofa (sofa-not sofabed!) By this point we had all experienced the rock-hard beds (which seemed to be held up by cardboard) and were drawing lots as to who might have the relative luxury of the sofa cushions. This did not last however when we saw the huge stains on the sofa. We then noticed another brown stain on the floor and on closer inspection, we smelled what we had feared - yes excrement!!!! Add to this huge patches of mould on the wall, mould in the shower seals, furniture falling apart and copious amounts of dust, it took us about 2 seconds to come to the conclusion that we were not staying! Off my wife went to explain - I followed a few minutes later as I wanted to avoid an outbreak of WW3 - but when I reached reception my wife must of just left and I saw the whole of the reception desk laughing and then smirking at me. Earlier when one of the staff came to look at the lock, once he had left the room, we then banged in to him when we reopened the door and it was obvious he had had his ear against the door and was eavesdropping. To cut a long story short, thanks to the very kind help of the agency we booked the hotel through, we were able to cancel our weeks stay, and just had to pay for one night. We all headed back to reception where the reluctant (we presume owner) processed our refund. He offered no apology and was completely indignant. We have stayed at some bad places in the past but it has never pushed us to leave until we experienced the repulsiveness that is the West Hotel Hong Kong. Do you yourself a big favour and avoid at all costs!!
- Neelen (6/5): rock had beds - Situated in a bad location but close to the train station
Beds were hard as a rock
we had to ask them for padding as my family could not sleep on it
no breakfast was offered and no nice places to eat nearby
- Win (8/5): Convenient and good service - Fast and cheap to/ from the airport by bus. All my requests were atteneded promptly. Good walking distance to MTR/bus stations.
Macau ferry terminal is about 15 minutes walk. Laundry, shops, restaurants are nearby.
- ThePathLessTravelled (8/5): Hard mattresses, otherwise good. - While it's overall a good hotel, it does have a few quirks -- the primary one being the hardness of their mattresses. I'm not particularly fussy about my sleeping quarters being overly comfortable (I once slept in the trunk of Buick with no complaints) but the mattresses in this place are something else. On the one hand, they do provide an ideal surface on which to toughen up your body -- good practice before a wilderness camping trip, or as part of a quest for self-improvement that involves the deprivation of physical comforts in order to reach that higher plane of consciousness. For everyone else, though, I highly recommend asking the front desk for extra pillows and laying them beneath you to form a makeshift, DIY mattress pad to protect your hips and shoulders from its hard surface. Thankfully the pillows are sufficient for both this and their intended purpose, and since the duvet is actually pretty good, you should be able to get a fairly good sleep that way. The bathroom is fine, though our plumbing made a sad, weird, whining noise for about a minute after each use, and the enormous grate in the bathroom door means every noise can be heard perfectly in the bedroom. However, all things considered it was a pretty good stay, especially for such a central location. I also appreciated that there was an electrical adapter waiting in the room when we got there, along with a kettle and free bottle of water for each guest.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid! - The bed was rock hard and I was given a smoking room. I’ve tried to chat online with hotels.com about this and they keep hanging up on me.
- Brandonboy (4/5): 1 Day hotel only - Needed hotel for one night late arrival back from China to Hong Kong and lower price. Busy time in HK so it was $200 for night. We each got a room and both with same comments. Rooms are clean but hard Chinese style bed, and super small shower but water was hot. For business traveller no maybe for backpackers and tourist one low budget but by a foam mattress. Hotel is more set for mainland China.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel close to restaurants. - Nice hotel to stay especially when you have kids. Confortable. Facilities and comfort is just right.
- boffin2002 (8/5): Well positioned, cheap and cheerful - Yes another traveller finishing a G-Adventures tour of China in this hotel. Previous reviews had me thinking a hard-sleeper train was more comfortable but in room 1706 the beds were very firm as expected from those reviews but certainly not like sleeping on the floor. It was comfortable enough for my 6'1"/89kg frame.
Everything worked as expected (including the plumbing).
The decor was pleasant enough and so too the staff I interacted with on two occasions.
The location is great with a quick airport shuttle bus just around the corner (the A22/$HK39), a short walk to either Austin or Jordan subway, Temple St market and a bazillion places to eat.
Victoria harbour is about a 20minutes walk.
All up, a pleasant stay. I can't really offer anything about value as the cost was included in my tour but from what I could see it was fair.
- pabloGtrManchester (2/5): Don’t bother if you need to sleep,,,,, - Stayed here at the end of a China tour, the hotel is ok, but the beds, even ato Chinese standards are bad, incredibly hard even after using 2 blankets folded and a duvet, I wouldn’t recommend. We had an 11 hour flights got the following day and didn’t manage to sleep at all!
- KelNicholson (2/5): Great location but that's about it - Stayed 3 nights at the end of our china trip. Location was fantastic - close to the market, Austin station and lots of restaurants and shops.
We were on the 13th floor - Bed was very hard but certainly more comfortable than others we've had in China.
Our room desperately needs maintenance work. The AC was extremely loud and frequently didn't work at all. Our shower was always cold though sometimes you'd get scorching hot for about a minute - no amount of moving the mixer had any effect on the temperature of the water (this was the same for our friend in the room next door). The shower doors didn't close properly as the door rails seemed to be broken so the bathroom floor would get soaked and the plastic floor mat did nothing to soak this up. We pretty much had a wet floor the whole time and squelched through the bathroom when required. Also the rack in the shower was broken so everything just fell out of it when you put it in
Overall not likely to return
- Cheah (6/5): location - fine
- KEN (8/5): Great hotel for the price - Roomy for the price and the location is very convenient for eat and shop.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here. - I am contact with customer support about my stay. Photos have been provided. In my opinion this hotel should not be listed on the Wotif website as it is simply not somewhere that should be recommended until it has been improved.
- Fabio (8/5): Good enough - My stay was pleasant. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Location is alright, with shops nearby, but it looks like a run down neighborhood
- EJ (8/5): Really hard beds - Overall, I found the hotel clean, spacious and met my minimal needs. I was hardly there except to shower and sleep, I was out the door by 8am, and returned at 10pm on the nights I stayed at West Hotel.
The bed were really the problem. They are hard, like, carpeted-floor hard. When I read the reviews about West Hotel's hard bed, I brushed it off, thinking its typical Asian firmness. No, this was really sleep-on-the-floor-with-just-a-sheet-cover hard. Luckily, there was a makeshift bed in my room with a removable soft mattress, which I geniusly piled on top of my bed giving me a softer bed.
In the room, there's a tv, strong A/C, fridge, electric kettle and the bathroom had the usual supply of toothbrush, combs, shower cap, but no shampoo or shower gel. The bathroom window was rusty looking, so I just closed the blinds.
They provided 2 bottles of water - free, and a HK plug converter in the room (I forgot mine, so it was nice not to have to ask/borrow for it.)
A local yum cha (dimsum) and seafood restaurant is located across the street with some limited English menu. It was good, full of old locals when we ate there at 8am. No carts roaming around though.
There's an Austin MTR exit is located half a block from the hotel on Jordan Rd and the A22 CityFlyer Airport bus stop is just a block away (cost HK$39 one way, approx 35-40mins).
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nightmare - The absolute worst beds ive ever laid on. Bathroom is decent size but filthy. Will not recommend to anyone.
- Shamus (6/5): Good location but near red light district. - Hotel staff were alright, but the room we got had a strong cigarette smell that could not be gotten rid off despite asking the staff to spray air freshener twice. Its probably tainted in the air conditioning system or the carpet.
Bed was extremely hard as if we were sleeping on old wooden beds.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient and Accessible to everything - The location is very good, convenient and accessible to all types of transportation. Also, the staff and receptionist are very helpful in giving directions (they can speak english). The only comment here is the bed because it seems they placed a flat wood over the old foam... it is hard to sleep.
- Gary boy (8/5): Good - Hotel is goog. Nearby MTR and night market.
- Jarek (6/5): - Close to center of HK.
Size of family room OK for 4 people.
Bed was far, ... far too hard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): West Hotel - Great location just outside Jordan Road.
Nice basic motel, as in clean room, great AC, good shower, good wifi.
Shower can be considered small
Mattress on the thin-side
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Value for money and location - Near 3 MTR stations
- Verified traveler (8/5): Passable - Great hotel if you want somewhere just to crash on a budget with a great location to the metros and Jade Street market. A short walk to an amazing Nepali restaurant with Indian/asian cuisine called Ex Gorkha. Also just opposite the road from a supermarket.
This hotel is quite old and the beds are hard as rock but it's passable as a whole.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to Jordan - Lovely experience, will definitely come back again!
- Edward Patrick (8/5): Affordable accommodation at a Kowloon - Our stay at the West Hotel was quite pleasing. It's located near an MTR station (Austin) and a few bus stops so traveling in and around the vicinity isn't a concern. The hotel lobby is small and straightforward as well as clean and well maintained. There are 2 working elevators at the time of our stay with posters on local attractions and notable places to visit. The standard room was enough for the two of us and had a large window with a view of the bay and the IFC as well as other buildings nearby. The toilet was clean although a little cramped and small. We had difficulty in figuring out how to switch the TV on until we tinkered with the nightstand controls. The reading lights are dimmable and was a nice feature. The hot water flow of the shower and sink was not very consistent but worked just fine. Overall, the hotel accommodation was worth the price.
- Erdembileg (10/5): Spacious and good location. - The hotel is well located between two important stations. Austin 3mins walk and Jordan 8 mins of walk. Room is much spacious than common hotels in HK.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. - Cleanliness of the room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel with hard beds - The stay was terrible. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The non-smoking room had smell of smoke and we had to request to change the room. In the next room, the toilet flush was not functioning properly. Our toilet paper could not be flushed down the toilet bowl. The hotel staff came up to the room to repair the flush twice but it was not fixed. Had to live with malfunctioning toilet for the rest of our stay.
- Medeline (2/5): Dirty hotel, limited non smoking rooms, hard bed - Bed was extremely hard! Room was old and dirty. Even though we asked for a non smoking room, smoke from the room beside us filtered into the room through the door and made us extremely uncomfortable and triggered my allergy the next day. Will not come back again.
- Robste (6/5): Ah..Uhgh..good enough yet seen better. - Toilet clogs at times. UUHGH! Bed was hard like your sleeping on the floor yet have sheets..
- JC (4/5): Closed to restaurants which serve good tim sum - The beds are extremely hard and not comfortable. Sofa is not so clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was very cold because the central AC was on even though it was 20°C outside, the bed was hard as mentioned in other reviews. But for the size of the room, it was reasonably priced compared to other rooms in HK.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Location - Booked 4 nights in a family room for 3 Adults 1 kid of 10 years old. Was given 1 double and 1 single bed.
The beds were really solid hard. Before I booked, I read about the review on the hardness of bed. I though it was fine for me. After experiencing it myself for 4 nights..... No Joke..... 1st night my family all had backache. The next day I feedbacked to the staff and told the staff that we were given a wooden board to sleep on instead of a mattress. To our surprised. .... the staff replied was:"Yes! Our beds are all wooden board!" OMG!!!! It's not a mattress. We were sleeping on the divan.
Other then the bed, everything is great. Room is spacious. Location is fantastic. Walking distance to 2 MTR. Many eateries and shops.
- Vivek (8/5): Located conveniently in city center.
- Taxi ride from airport will cost around HK $250.
Taxis are readily available from hotel.
Located conveniently close to restaurants etc.
- CHENG PHENG (8/5): - Worth for money, good to stay.
- Abhay (8/5): Value for Money Guesthouse - We were three guys looking for an affordable place to stay for a week while we explore Hong Kong during the day. The place is centrally located and is convenient to board the mtr from either Jordan or Austin from the hotel. Accommodation in Hong Kong can really burn a hole in the pocket, so if you're looking for a 3 star guest house majorly to spend the night I would recommend this place. It's a lot better than similar properties in the area. The bed can be a little hard for some who are not used to it. But the good free WiFi, decent housekeeping and the location makes this an ideal choice for budget travellers looking for a place to stay in and around Jordan Road or Nathan Road.
- Maria Cristina (4/5): - We booked for non-smoking room, but the room given to us has a smoke odor. No wifi in the room for our entire duration of 4 days stay. Need to go to the lobby with on and off wifi signal. Location is great for MTR and night market.
- Victor (8/5): Nice location, Hard mattresses - Location is convenient, just steps away from Austin MTR station and walking distance to Jordan and Nathan Road intersection. Room size is considered big in Hong Kong's standards. The main complaints from my friends were that the mattresses were the hardest they have ever slept on.
- Jimmy (8/5): A good stay at The West Hotel at Jordan in Hongkon - Enjoyable
- Wendy (6/5): Great location - The location of this hotel is great. Austin station is at the end of the street and the night market is around the corner. Building is inviting and easy to find.
The room was large had plenty of space. The interior and furnishings were worn down and in need of a remodel. The bathroom was large for the area, but also in need of a refresh. The bed was the hardest thing I've ever slept on, as if it were just the box spring. The floor might have been softer. We asked for a mattress pad, as the single bed had one and was a bit softer, but never got one.
Overall, a great price in a great location at the sacrifice of comfort. A good choice if your out and about all day and just looking for a place to sleep and go.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Smelly room - Paradise for smokers as smoking is allowed in the room. It was a torture for me who is not a smoker !! One-night stay is more than enough !!!!
- atul (10/5): Except for the hard bed everything else was excell - Very good experience and value for money. Centrally located and walking distance to the markets. Many Indian restaurants around for vegetarians.
Will recommend friends this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing stay... - Stayed at West Hotel for 4 nights which is located about 10 mins walk from Kowloon Station (Airport Express) and just 5 mins walk to Temple Street. Hotel Staff is ok with normal service standard. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and the sound proofing is so bad, you can hear all sorts of noise coming from the other rooms. Shower cubicle is very small and the free wifi connection is so bad for the first two nights that it is almost non-existence. I will not stay in this hotel again.
- soon (8/5): - The bed at West hotel is too hard!!
