Guest Reviews
- Ursula (7/5): Sehr angenehmes Haus - Ausstattung und zimmerservice Frühstückssituation und barbetrieb
- D. Guldemond (10/5): Aanrader! Niets
- tim (8/5): - Excellebt staff and breakfast The floorboards are very creaky. There was some damp in the bedroom.
- Anne-Fleur (10/5): -

- Toko (9/5): This is a unique and one of a kind experience for any food and design lover. - We walked in thinking that this was a liquor store because of the wines on the shelves before discovering that we were in the right place. We loved our time at Rosa et al., this quirky, unique and beautifully designed boutique hotel in a low key but vibrant neighborhood. Our room was beautiful, spacious, with an outdoor terrace, high ceilings, and floor to ceiling shutters and precious attention to detail, combining modern design seamlessly with the surroundings in this renovated townhouse. The breakfasts were huge and delicious as they make everything on site and is also associated with a sister restaurant nearby called Early. We’d love to stay here again if we could. Be warned that there is no elevator service and the wooden floors creak. Also, we found the lighting to be dim.
- Philippa (9/5): We loved the ambience and design with nice staff who were helpful with restaurant suggestions and nothing was too much t - The styling and design was beautiful, very comfy beds, delicious coffee and breakfasts. The garden was a little oasis. Evening diner would have been good had it been available but they stop serving food after 5pm, so really only a breakfast and lunch in offer. I hear they do supper clubs, but not sure how often.
It is an old property, so be prepared for squeaky floorboards and no lifts.
- Ronni (9/5): Recommended - Unique and comfortable
- Caroline (9/5): Many great places to visit in walking distance, cool interior design and really helpful staff - Great interior design, cozy rooms and friendly staff
- Katharina (10/5): - Alles war perfekt. Alles war perfekt.
- Mark (9/5): Excellent - Good food, charming helpful staff, great location, big bright rooms
- David (9/5): -
- Getaway69363 (2/5): A fuir ! - A front desk not welcoming at all.
I was treated like as an unwelcome guest. He was really rude and hostile. And when the front desk had a problem with the front door not working after 7pm, he asked me to come Back to the hotel to take the keys. And he was not sorry at all to ask me this. Wondering who is the host and who is the guest.
I had to ask him several times to find a solution on his side and then he found one. And during all the discussion he was rude and no excuse about this weird situation. And when I came back to the hotel. There was no toilet paper in my room. How possible ? I travelled all around the world Asia, Europe, Africa America : in luxury hotel and more middle range ones. And this never happened to me.
This is not my first time in this hotel and I came back because my first Experience was pleasant. But for sure it will me last visit
- Anne (9/5): - Room and bathroom spacious, bed big and comfortable. Overlooking the garden which was quiet and pretty Breakfast and coffees good and cooked to order, staff welcoming. A little out of centre of city but still walkable.
- Jonathan (9/5): - The bathroom is impractical and entering and exiting the shower dangerous
- Combe (10/5): -
- sabina (10/5): Amazing boutique hotel in cool part of Porto near lots of cute cafes and galleries. Walking distance from major sites. V - Tasteful and comfortable room. High ceilings with large windows. Spacious bathroom and super comfy bed and linen.
- B8796XVjoh (10/5): Porto Stylish townhouse - Beautiful room in a great location - about 15 minutes walk from the main metro station so a really easy commute from the airport for a long weekend and the same distance from the heart of Porto and the river. Stylish room and great breakfast.
- Raquel (10/5): -
- marymS631SC (10/5): Welcoming, delightful design - Booking was easy. Arrival was smooth. The room was perfectly appointed and a delight to wake up in after restful sleep. The location was perfect for walking, gaining a sense of daily rhythm and meeting designers nearby. The thoughtful design throughout felt unique and grounded. Most of all the people were all welcoming. Overall excellent value. I enjoyed my stay!
- 384SamanthaC (10/5): A peaceful and stylish oasis in the heart of Porto - I just stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel for a week solo part work and part leisure. I cannot recommend it enough - the decor is beautiful, it was warm and quiet and very clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful throughout and the food and coffee in their ground floor peaceful cafe is great. It is a very calm place to stay and perfectly located in the heart of the city.
- Orkan Can (10/5): -
- Remco (10/5): -
- Viola (1/5): Awful experience in every possible way. - The only positive notes are the location and the cleanliness of the rooms-except for the terrace, which was full of bird droppings. When we arrived around 3 a.m., they assigned us the wrong room: remotely, they electronically opened a room that wasn't ours and we walked in on a lady who was already staying there-she was sleeping at the time. An embarrassing and surreal situation.
In the check-in message they promise a complimentary bottle of wine, but in reality, if you drink it they charge you for it, even deducting the cost from the deposit. A complete scam.
The so-called "Suite" is a joke: the bathroom and bedroom are in the same open space with no separation at all. No privacy, no respect for guests expecting at least a minimum of comfort. This detail is not shown in the photos or mentioned in the description-you only discover it once you get there.
When we asked for a solution, the staff responded arrogantly and offered no alternative. At first, they said they would at least offer us breakfast, but not only did they fail to do so, they also deducted the cost of the supposedly complimentary wine from our deposit.
- Tanika (10/5): Beautiful escape - The property is beautiful. Furnished with exceptional quality products throughout and all the small touches thought of.
- Norma (9/5): -
- Justine (5/5): Mixed feelings stay - On the outset, the hotel has cool aesthetics & style with a vintage touch. The room has cool mid century furniture and the bed was very lovely and comfortable.
The location of the hotel was so perfect. Very close to heaps of cool cafes, design stores, galleries that are always my main interest when travelling.
It is very Walkable to famous landmarks, & national parks.
Super close to a variety of supermarkets which I find always handy.
Staff are generally welcoming on arrival. The room was quite large - which is good initially - —-but the lighting was limited and dim considering the size of the room —-so getting ready was difficult at times.
Key card was hard to use at first on arrival & and another day —- but when shown we got the hang of it.
The wooden floors initially were a nice touch - however resulted in being very “creaky”. You could hear the walking of people from upstairs all through the night. I was very self conscious walking as people below would have heard us.
No tv in the room. Not usually an issue - however it was rainy season when we went, so there were times where we were in the hotel for longer times. The room is quite large, so I think a TV, more storage space would make up for the bare walls & bare space.
The Shower made an awfully loud “creaky” sound when you would turn it on. If waited it out for about ten mins the sound would go which was not ideal.
Biggest issue: There was a large on going leak in the bathroom that we were not informed about on arrival.
We noticed there was a towel on the floor covering it when our room was cleaned the first day.
When we brought this to the attension of the manager the next day - he told us it had been a problem recently. This was disappointing because we were not informed of this. He offered free breakfast for the next day - however I don’t think this was good enough.
Towards the end of our stay he did say that some of our stay would be reimbursed - this was done after we left our stay - which I did appreciate.
Checkout was not explained properly - next morning there was no one at the desk. It wasn’t clear how to get out of the property at first - until we saw the small instructions on the door. I feel that this should be explained on arrival.
I would understand these issues if it was more of a basic budget priced hotel - however for the price and for how it is advertised as a modern boutique hotel I would have expected better.

- Julian (9/5): - Clean, comfortable, quiet Loo in the bedroom!!
- Hardie (8/5): -
- Marlies (8/5): - Prachtig, kleinschalig hotel.
- Brandy (8/5): Excellent hotel, with the exception of the squeaky floor. - Loved this hotel, its location and decor. The restaurant was great, and the little store so pretty. The floor in the room squeaked with every step! It was so loud and distracting. I should have asked for another room, that is on me.
Nichts

- Moreira (10/5): -
- Pioneer22162714476 (8/5): Garden Room and a Great Breakfast - Disclaimer: We did not know that a "townhouse" was actually a guesthouse. We had a somewhat bad start, as the "guesthouse" (vs hotel) did not advise on the parking accommodations we had arranged. We drove around the block several times to find parking and check in, only to be told that this wasn't a hotel and that it was more of an Airbnb. That being said, our room (the garden room) was lovely. There were design issues that required us to rearrange the layout. The safe was unreachable. The outdoor shower was overgrown with plants. But somehow the space was lovely, magical, and a good value. You'll likely enjoy this room if you choose it. Also, the breakfast team did a fantastic job (although you will likely go over your allotted $30/day allowance). We loved their scones, in particular. We also visited Early, their recommended restaurant, which was virtually empty, but nonetheless a great meal.
- Hester (9/5): -
- Felicia (8/5): Very nice location and design - Very nice location and very nice room. Very clean and well designed. The people at entrance are very cold and breakfast takes ages . It used to be more uplifting / careful a few year ago.
- Gerasimenok (9/5): -
- Kirstie (9/5): It was just lovely 🥰 - It was lovely and brilliant value for money and the staff were fab. The food was excellent. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud!
- Laetitia (9/5): - Perfectly located in a "matcha & avocado toast" type of neighborhood, hip and close to downtown and the main sites by foot. Lovely hotel, great food, nice and cosy. There could be anti-moth papers since I've never seen so many (and no closet so I closed my luggage)! And some shelving too around the bathtub and sink. No privacy between toilet & bed, this needs to be said. I was with my daughter, it's ok, but it can be a bit odd for couples (lack of intimacy). Otherwise, all nice & lovely!
- Kim Mira (8/5): - Schönes Zimmer mit Balkon, tolles Haus generell. Hab gut geschlafen und mich wohlgefühlt.
- Natasja (2/5): Room needs reparations/renovation first! - Good location The toilet was leaking water like a river, bit the plumber was ‘on holiday’. Water in sinks and bath was not flowing away. I think they should not have rented out this room, but repair it first! Staff was very arrogant.
- Laetitia (9/5): - Breakfast was great, staff was super friendly and helpful, decoration & furnitures looked gorgeous and well arranged and chosen - there even is an art piece in the upper part of the staircase, from artist Maja Escher, also featured at the wonderful Serralves Foundation for Contemporary Art (my highlight in Port). There are many moths - garment moths - given it's an old building I guess. For couples, know there is little privacy since there is no wall nor partition between the bed and the toilet + sink. I would have added some disrecte shelves around the sink and the bathtub.

- salkosha (10/5): Even better than the photos! - Stylish establishment with much attention to detail. Exquisite interior with a nice local feel and great comfort. Loved the space and the amenities. Unlike quite few places in Porto, this was spacious, well maintained and true to what pictures stated! Artsy neighborhood with interesting galleries and original dining options. Had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!
- Julie (9/5): - Great property in even greater city. Loved the showers; loved the quietness. thought the garden was very nice. Really appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the young man.
The property was close but not too close to the tourist sights. Our walks to them gave us a chance to see at least a little of the city and its people Safe not very accessible especially given the presence of the triangular table
The young woman who served our breakfast after our first night seemed unhappy about something. She was the opposite of warm and charming.
- Natascha (9/5): Cosy boutique hotel with great location - Beautiful little hotel with charming and stylish décor. You feel welcome from the very first moment. Incredibly friendly staff. Cozy little garden.
Our room on the top floor had a balcony, which we really appreciated.
A slightly unusual solution with a bathtub inside the shower cabin. The floors creaked a lot, but it was part of the charm.
Delicious breakfast, but there was an extra charge for covering a single dish, juice, and coffee, even though we had already paid for breakfast. Delicious breakfast, but there were quite a few extra charges even though breakfast was included. You received a €15 voucher, but a single dish cost more than that.
- Catherine (10/5): - Loved the warm welcome and homely feel. Such a stylish but understated place. Amazing food! Everything was just great.

- Sarah (10/5): Absolutely lovely, luxurious - Stunning hotel absolutely lovely, grandest hotel I have ever stayed in! Very friendly staff and affordable! Excellent location. A few expensive add ons, parking, breakfast.
- 906tanikan (10/5): Tranquil retreat - Beautiful guesthouse, each detail has been thought of and provided with in top quality, the garden is a beautiful relaxing place to sit, the restaurant food is stunning. Our room
On the top floor overlooking the garden was a beautiful tranquil retreat, the bed and bedding provided the most comfortable place to sleep and rejuvenate.

- Gemma (10/5): Can’t wait to come back again soon! Recommend highly - Everything was wonderful! Quiet and cozy and excellent breakfast with local produce. Nothing
- Laura (10/5): Perfect stay at Porto - The location is excellent. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend them!
- Stay40503842718 (6/5): Breakfast Scam - The room was spacious, well lit by two large garden view rooms and kept cool, but the wooden floor was very creaky and there was clear signs of damp on one wall. Major complaint was that breakfast was sold as "included", but turned out to be a €15 per person limit that was not mentioned at any time when booking, arriving or sitting down at breakfast 5 days in a row, only when it came to pay! Bit of a scam there.
- Joanna (7/5): Lovely stay...until the extra costs! - A lovely, quiet and very comfortable Townhouse not too far from the centre. We stayed in a King room which was beautiful apart from a very squeaky floor! The breakfast is exceptional. We had a lovely stay overall, but when we came to check out, we were presented with a bill for all the 'extra' breakfast items we had eaten. We were only told at this point that there is a 15 euro limit per person for breakfast, but I can find no other information in my booking which says this, nor did they tell us this at anytime when we were ordering breakfast. I felt very let down and annoyed and it marred what was otherwise a great stay. The hotel needs to make this clearer to guests on b&b packages, as does Booking.com.
- Ian (9/5): Ideal location stylish decor small but relaxing outdoor space - Relaxing and friendly atmosphere Nothing

- Nicole (3/5): Hotel resting on its reputation. Are not interested in dealing with complaints. - Great location close to town but also peaceful. Design of the hotel was lovely. There was a national power cut whilst we were at the hotel so all the power in the hotel went off (clearly not their fault). However the next day the power in our room was still not working (it was working in the rest of the hotel). So we spent the whole trip without power. My 70 year old mother had to use the bathroom (including free standing bath) in the dark! We told the staff who didn’t seem to care. I then contacted the owners on our return who said it wasn’t their fault. They provided no compensation. Not what you expect from a hotel of this level.
- TEREZA (10/5): - We absolutely loved our room and the view from the balcony. Very relaxing place with lots of great bars and restaurants around. No comments to add
- michaelgY1303JB (10/5): Exelence - Fantastic elegant and cozy-style hotel
Great artistic area outside the main turist areas
5* recommendation
Enjoyed the great rooms. Excellent architectural blend between old and modern details.
Enjoyed the wild garden!
Fantastic breakfast ( all day brunch )
Didn’t try The Supper Club but the concept sounds great
- Silvan (10/5): fantastisch - Ein fantastisches Kleinod in Porto.
- Katharine (10/5): Would go back for sure. - Perfect location. Staff were fantastic. Back yard was superb. Bathroom in the room is not private at all!
- Congsheng (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at Rosa Et Al when I first visited Porto 10 years ago. In my recent trip to Porto I chose to stay here again and it didn’t disappoint. Things are as good as my first stay 10 years ago!

- Paul (8/5): Indiviueller Style in schöner Umgebung, kreativ und jung; Dont book the breakfast in advance.

- B612YYbrianm (10/5): You just might love it, we did - We loved this Hotel. It's quirky & creaky & leaves us with fabulous memories. Our room was a great size with a balcony looking out over the garden of the hotel and the back gardens of the neighbourhood properties. The staff were brilliant and so friendly. We were given great Restaurant Recommendations by P at the Hotel and all within reasonable walking distance of the Hotel. We even witnessed one of the boys helping a fellow Guest track down his lost luggage. He was so helpful. Thank-you all at Rosa et Al, sometimes it's not easy but you made our stay a lovely, happy memory.
- Elles (10/5): - Prachtig ingerichte kamer. Heel vriendelijk personeel.
- michaelgX930WD (2/5): Bad experience - Terrible experience, cold shower and the hotel is lying about it; for 2 days; rude staff; this place cannot be recommended, it should be shut down; the management team is trying to lie about which clearly points to the unprofessional manner in which this place is operate; I advise not to book at this place
- Michael (8/5): overall good - good breakfast, staff very helpful. bedroom layout and facilities a little strange
- Astrid (9/5): Loved the building/room and staff. Very nice breakfast, cool neighborhood. - Best neighborhood to be! Far from the tourist area you are between locals. Area with lots of cool restaurants and bars. Walking distance is you want to be in more touristy area. For us no problem, but our room was on the 3rd floor. Keep in mind there is no elevator when you book.
