Guest Reviews
- Ginalyn A (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- Darryll (10/5): - Had a great stay here, staff were always friendly and welcoming and willing to help. Location is walkable to any convenience you need, and rides and taxis always available just past the gate. Totally returning next visit.
- Darryll (10/5): - As per last review…. I’ll be back
- Paul (10/5): - Local to mango nightspots. Easy to get taxis.
- neil (6/5): - used to really rate this place have stayed there before but not again was somewhat dingy the breakfast was very oily and greasy it needs some money spending on it to get it bak to how it used to be
- René (10/5): I had a good stay! - I had booked 4 days, but end to extend it further.staff are kind & friendly. Some construction work are ongoing nearby.it can make some noise. Small Breakfast is included. Few bread, ham, egg and a cup of coffee, & juice.
Pool is small but nice to swim in.
- Kisha Mae (10/5): - Affordable with free breakfast however, they only serve bread and no rice :( Weren't able to use the pool since it's kinda small and it's viewable on the dining area where there are a lot of people eating.
- Rolly (8/5): - Quiet and with a peace on my stay.
- Raimon (8/5): - Was a tittle noisy with the traffic and building happening all around. But good closs shopping.
- BOBBY (2/5): Run - Decided to stay elsewhere because unsafe conditions.
- Thomas (6/5): very disappointed. - dreadful location and the noisiest hotel Ive ever stayed in. major construction next door, a school with associated traffic outside my room with noisy people outside (taxi drivers) and parents. no pavements anywhere, walk in the roads at your risk to try to find food. The restaurant was closed except for the included measly breakfast. ayahis hotel is very stingy. holes and scars on the feeble bedsheets, constantly chasing staff for a toilet roll or towels. The pool is dangerous for kids if not with a parent as it slopes deeply from 2.5feet to 6 feet with no warning signage. the staff are friendly enough but this place is sadly lacking and the furnishings in the rooms are 50 years behind the times. room did not work, the socket hanging out of the wall. the staff will just smile at you when you complain.
- tomj412 (8/5): Good for that money - Nice place, didnt expected to much for that price, but it was ok, nice location rooms small but clean and ok, wifi worked ok,aircon little noisy but ok, nice little swimmingpool, if you are in a budget this is very good place,i think breakfast was include but i didnt tried it,sadly there was a construction site just across the road, so it was hard to have an afternoon nap,but cant blame the hotel for that
if the do a full renovation,it will be very nice place
- Ella Mara Melanie Perez (10/5): - The staff, including the security guard, are all helpful and nice. We also enjoyed swimming in the pool. 😇
- Maree (6/5): - This property is great for a quick stay. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Facilities include a pool which is small but refreshing enough. Rooms are small but ok for a cheap hotel. Facilities are old but in this process of a slow renovation. Cleaning could be improved as lots of mould prevalent but still ok. Not far from Robinsons Fuente mall and small restaurants which is a bonus
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Got bitten a lot by bed bugs, no TV cable, sheets not the cleanest. Unkept cleanliness.
- Chris (6/5): Cheap but smelled damp - Cheap I guess, but you get what you pay for. Ground floor room smelled damp, pool was smal and clean but with a couple of missing tiles. Mosquitoes outside.
- christopher (10/5): Review Vacation - Really nice staff. Great value for money in Central Cebu. Very clean. Near all of the action. Used it as a base for my stay in Cebu for two months. A little dated, but very charming. Very homely feel. Even has a small swimming pool. Restaurant is very limited though (only breakfast). Plus, they try to charge 100 peso just to heat foods from outside. Which i think is extortionate given the limit of availability in the restaurant. However, it is a very good hotel and i would highly recommend.
- Niko_sta (6/5): Be extra careful with belongings - This hotel has a great potential become a hidden gem in the heart of the Cebu city. It desperately needs a renovation and total clean up. It has a garden what might be found only in the city outside hotel's. It has a old little hotel charm what should be valued. Breakfast was simple but tasty, restaurant was not open in the evening time.
Very weird episode happened once in the morning. I was swimming and my partner in the room. I left door unlocked and someone tried to come inside very quietly opening the door. When noticed someone is still in the room fastly closing the door and running away. I reported this to front desk and after half an hour reception told us it was just a mistake by a House keeping. After ten minutes all our valuables were inside the safe. Hotel explanation sounds very weird. Someone reported our room was full of valuables.
- MegB11-11 (10/5): Home Away from Home - I’ve been coming here since 2018 and everyone from security to the handyman and gardener are SO LOVELY! They’ve always made me feel welcome. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable.
Finally, the beautiful ladies that work there tirelessly to ensure you are comfortable are absolute angels! They always make me feel welcome when I arrive and every day I’m there
I can’t say enough good stuff about the Vacation Hotel in Cebu!
- David (10/5): -
- Ove (10/5): - Highly recommend Vacation Hotel Cebu for anyone that wants a reasonably large hotel room with a balcony near to Osmeña Circle
- David (10/5): - Great location and price. Nice pool and outdoor area to relax. Clean room with refrigerator, wifi and cable tv. Friendly and helpful staff.
- 3b2australia (10/5): Back to basics = good! - Yes it is a small hotel but the location is excellent. The building is older and not modern and could probably do with a lick of paint (who can’t lol?)
The staff are incredibly attentive and although this is basic accommodation it is nonetheless value for money and strongly recommend.
The warm welcome and endless obliging gestures by the staff are second to none!
This is Filipino hospitality at its best. Bravo to Jo, Jessi, Vani & Ayid!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly people😀
You really require a minimum on a review? I’m doing this as a favor you shouldn’t think you can require anything of me for a favor
- Chelsea (8/5): Vacation hotel - The hotel staff was great, very helpful and friendly. There was no hot water the entire stay of a week, so we took “warm” showers. It was so hot out that it was ok. The breakfast is just all right for the free options it’s toast and normally a breakfast oatmeal of some kind. You can pay approximately $2 for a omelette or eggs of your choice. The Wi-Fi was mostly ok a little slow but worked for the most part
- Pauluk1979 (10/5): I've spent almost a year and a half of my life in this hotel. - I've been staying at this hotel for about 13 years now, a month here, a few weeks there etc.. and it adds up to a staggering year and a half! One of the things I like about it is that it's got it's own private garden and grounds and you can walk about without even leaving the hotel. The pool, although small is none the less clean and almost always warm water. The staff are nice and know me and my wife by our first names. The showers in the rooms work better in the lower ground rooms than upstairs. The rooms are quite spacious (I've stayed in all of them) and the ornate parquet flooring gives them a nice, warm touch of quality. The rooms all have TV and fridge and direct dial telephone. The wifi is free but only works properly in the downstairs areas. The breakfast is included in the price but unfortunately they don't serve serials So I usually just have toast with jam or something. There is adequate free car parking on site and the hotel is just a short walk to Fuente and the Robinson Mall. The much bigger Ayala and SM malls are a short taxi ride away but it only costs about 50 to 60 pesos. Hailing a taxi outside this hotel is generally quite easy and if you ask the guard, he'll even do that for you while you remain in the air conditioned foyet at busier times. I've stayed in over 50 hotels right across the Philippines and few of them have the ambiance of the Vacation Hotel.
- Terry (2/5): - Pool was not clean basically not usable
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad day! - We had arranged and confirmed by e mail, airport pick up. Waited one hour, no sign. Called hotel, receptionist said "hes not there?". So waited a further 40 minutes for a taxi. Half way to hotel we got a call, "the driver is there now!". At hotel, no explanation nor apology, nothing. No coffee in room, just 2 cups. Breakfast was a hot dog sausage, nasty omelet and dry toast, no butter, with luke warm old coffee. This was by far one of my worst hotel experiences.
- Anthony (6/5): Fifth visit - Mosquito infestation the first night. Moved to another room second night, was better. Food and service were v good.
- KJO74 (8/5): Decent hotel in Cebu - Stayed: 25 to 28 October, 2018
Room Type: double
My 4 Essentials:
- Bed: nice
- Hot water: 2/10 (2 minutes of warmish water)
- Noise: a little street noise but nothing unexpected.
- Cleanliness: pretty good
The good
1. Clean hotel
2. Good location
3. Breakfast is reasonable.
4. They do lend u towels to go to external pools.
5. Easy to get a taxi from the rank across the road.
The not so good:
1. Having to request for a roll of toilet paper annoys the living hell out of me. I would be happy if u charged me 100p more to have a second roll there.
2.The religious quote on the room’s wall hanging and a bible next to ur bed is a rather odd touch for 2018. I thought I paid for a room at a hotel not a room at a convent.
3. The hotel wifi speeds are not very good.
Travellers Tips:
1. ask for spare roll of toilet paper at checkin.
2. There is a nice bakery 150m to the left and a great hamburger place 250m to the right - both on the Main Street.
My Verdict: decent 2 to 3 star place that I would consider coming back too if in the area.
Special mentions: the security guard at the front door was very cheerful each day.
- Pål tomas (2/5): 2 nights without sleep... - Pool was dirty. Alot of ants in swimming area. Generator right under our room start in middel of the night. Spider net alot of places. Staff and guards was Great. Breakfast was very simple. Location was in a very noisy place. Will never go back there.
- Ronny64Norway (4/5): Old noisy weak AC - The room will be hot ! - AC! -The Ac is very old, and it did not have the sufficient power to cool the room. Room temperature during the day was 27 degrees ! In the middle of the night it had dropped to 24.. We tried to talk to the front desk.. The answer: "turn the ac to max".. duh...
Construction work outside lasted most of the night.
Wifi passwords that should be good for "3 devices" only worked for 1
Wifi bad speed
Pool is extremely small
So to summarize: The staff is friendly but you will not be able to get a good nights sleep..
- ydnictwist (10/5): Great Accomodation - The room is big, very clean, and comfortable. Aircon functioned well. Very clean bathroom. There's a swimming pool outside. Free breakfast buffet provided. Location is walking distance to restaurants and eateries.
- Rene (8/5): great place. - great place. staff are friendly and helpful for what you need. And np to have guest in room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cleanliness was not maintained. We noticed dusts in those 2 glasses on the table. The washroom a liitle bit dusty and even the toilet bowl we noticed some staines.
- KuyaP (10/5): caters to all my needs - have been staying here off and on four 6 years and they are always ready to assist me with all my needs....maybe not a 5 star hotel but 5 star service...is very close to the circle in the middle of the City...and about a 100 pesos taxi ride from the south bus terminal....if on a medium budget would suggest to give this place a try...plan to continue to stay here as the need arises
- beyann (8/5): Perfect for 'Barkadas' bonding - Cheapest price, room was spacious and in good condition. Pool was nice, it was just fit for the hotel. They also had a Nipa hut to where you can hang out and chill with your friends. They also had a delicious "bangus". Overall I and my friends enjoyed our stay we were really having fun when its past 1 in the midnight the staffs never bother us still staying in the garden.
Kudos to the staffs.
- Roy (10/5): Pleasant stay - An older style hotel with a small swimming pool and outdoor relaxation area.
- bruce (6/5): TLC - To keep its 3 star needs TLC as bathroom old and need up grading
- ericlavaerts (8/5): Cebu travel - Nice and quiet hotel smak in the center of cebu. Rooms are spacious and well kept. Not the newest but you get everyting you need plus a small pool great value. Only the breakfast is lacking fantasy it's just almost the same every day now choice.
- Anika_018 (8/5): It's Okay.. - Room
-is spacious, have enough space for my nephew to run and play :)
-with fridge and available drinks
-comfort room is okay, but there is no mat, I remember.
Location
-is good, just near Robinsons Mall and other establishments
Amenities
-good swimming pool area, you can just relax there.
-dining area is okay, spacious.
Breakfast
-is okay, with unlimited coffee and juice, but would be better if more food options.
- Verified traveler (10/5): very good choose for this price! - The hotel was very beautiful! Stuff is helpsfull, for example we ditn't pay to print of boodingpass! The breakfast was tasty. The room is basic, but clean! We would go again!
- Epi_nakila (6/5): Old, Tired and Needs to be improved! - We stayed here with my girlfriend together with her family to celebrate the New Year 2017.
We felt quite good since they had a menu on the rooms for room service food delivery. But upon calling the Lyric Cafe (the name of the Cafe of the hotel) the staff told us that their Chef is not available at the time and they will still need to confirm if the chef will come to work on New Year's eve.
Breakfast at the Cafe was awful. They only had 3 dishes at that time considering it was morning of New Year.
Pool was so small, and some of the foreign guests dominated the use of the pool considering they're big guys and we only have kids with us.
The safety deposit box was way different than the box we though of of.
Will still think if we'll stay here once more.
- Roy (10/5): - Pleasant hotel, ground and first floor only, no lift. Small pool, outdoor sitting area. Filipino breakfast included. Some rooms have a balcony.
- 652joanneg (10/5): Vacation Hotel - This hotel maybe old but we love the place so much. It is perfect for a family who have young kids. They have a swimming pool which nobody really uses. The hotel is only 2 floors so we liked it because Cebu usually experiences Earthquakes and we don't want to panic if we are in the 8th or 10th flr of a certain hotel. The management didn't charged additional for our kid's breakfast, we have 2 kids by the way.
- geoffa557 (6/5): Good value but .... - Nice room with air & fridge but NO coffee / tea facilities
Breakfast is included PROVIDED u select the breakfast of the day .
I got caught , selected fro the breakfast menu & had to pay !!!!!
Was not impressed
One big pluss , laundry is available by the kilo not the normal by the article
Cost 75p / kg , min 3 kg so 225p
There is no lift so if u have a problem with stairs get a room on the ground floor
Drinks are very basic , beer & soft drink , if u want more then make a trip to Robinsons mall , supermarket , approx. 100p each way in a taxi , avoid peak hour
There is a money changer in Robinsons Dept store
Airport transfer is available , cost 500p each way , a taxi about 300p but depends on the traffic
- Moshe (2/5): The most ugly and bad hotel I ever saw in my life - Very bad hotel in all meanings !
Stay away from this place.
I don't know why it's called hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Helt ok hotel - Okej hotel för shopping och barhäng
- markhD5235VO (2/5): What a tired old Hotel - The location of this Hotel is good but it is a very tired old Hotel in need of total renovation, the bed was so hard it was giving me back pains so I needed to check out, the garden and the pool area are nice but again just old and tired, at about 1.9k pesos a night it is very expensive and is poor value for money, many other Hotels in the area are much cheaper and more modern.
- heidi5353 (6/5): Staff quite helpful but overall experience was far too warm! - This hotel has a beautiful outdoor pool area and restaurant/sitting area. Breakfast was included for us and was satisfactory, included warm items like rice pudding, scrambled eggs and ham. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately though, because they run the key cards so that they activate power in your room, you can't run the air conditioner while you're gone to dinner to cool your room for your return. The room is too big for the size of the air conditioner so even after several hours, it's still not cool enough. The other issue is the showers, they were not only warm but hot, you couldn't turn it to cold to get it to cool off at all. We asked the front desk about it and they said that when it cools off outside then the water will be cooler so there doesn't appear to be any way for them to cool it. It's off the main road which makes it a quieter location but still with great access to amenities/restaurants close-by.
- Pertti (6/5): Hinta laatu ok - Lento KL myöhässä yövyimme ennen Malapascuun menoa tässä hotellissa. Liikenteen melu kuului selvästi sisälle. Muuten ihan normaali hotelli.
- n_lingatong (6/5): Our one last try..... - I stayed in this hotel several years ago before it was renovated. This time we stayed in a standard double room-double bed located at the ground floor. Though the rate seemed a bit expensive I gave it a try expecting something new and better. The room was equipped with a personal ref, cable tv, toiletries, clean towels and linens and a very noisy airconditioning unit we could hardly sleep. The staff were generally polite and helpful. I don't find the complementary breakfast good especialy for people returning home to Cebu for the Sinulog Festival.
My husband did not get a senior citizen's discount and was not issued an official receipt for our payment because according to the front desk we booked via an agent: booked.net and they're the ones who should issue us an official receipt because vacation hotel has not been paid yet for our stay by said agent. This sounded very abnormal and confusing to me. She said we should have booked directly and I replied "you do not have an official website to make online reservation" but she insisted " there is". I checked it again today and I really couldn't find it. We did not bother to argue any further and decided to better charge it to experience and never to book in that hotel again
- Daniel (10/5): would stay there again - I stayed in the deluxe room and found it to be good, location was good with easy access to everything, the staff were very polite and helpful, they maybe could improve on their breakfast menu. The grounds and pool were very clean and relaxing, quiet at night.
- John D (8/5): Good budget hotel with nice vocation - Staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. Breakfast provided in room price was very limited so suggest taking the room without breakfast and just ordering instead.
- DerZuvielReisenMuss (4/5): Far from perfect - We were traveling with another couple that selected this hotel. I honestly don't know why. It's not the cheapest hotel; it is in the city center, but away from the sights; water nowhere to be seen; our room (to the street) was quite noisy; there were events in the afternoon/evening at the hotel which meant that some facilities during this time were unavailable (e.g., a kid's birthday party due to which the whole outdoor area including the pool was not usable); the room's are relatively small ...
I would not book the hotel again and look for something different. Maybe if the location is what you are looking for (whatever that might be), it might be ok, but if that's not the case, then I would look for someplace else to stay.
- liza628 (8/5): A hotel for restful vacations - As part of the family's stress debriefing after the horror of ST Haiyan, we went on several days' vacation to the Queen City of the South, Cebu City. We stayed at different hotels every day and one of the choices as per an online search was Vacation Hotel. I was glad for the choice for the following reasons: (1) the kids loved that it wasn't a "hotel" but was in fact, a "house" (2) there was no elevator hence no headaches, (3) there was a pool, (3) the tv was huge, (4) the food was good, (5) it offered them the opportunity to walk on Cebu streets and (6) the heater on the shower was working. The staff was polite and courteous especially the security guard. There was a garden wedding reception on the 2nd day and there was quite a number of people around the pool area so the kids had to leave the pool by the time the reception party started. I'd been exchanging emails with the owner regarding the reservation way ahead of our visit and she was really accommodating even if she was based in manila. If I had a complaint it would be that the aircon in our room didn't work properly (sometimes cool, sometimes warm) but the unit in the second room worked fine.
The food was a bit pricey but well worth the price. The pancit was wonderful!
- Gerald (8/5): Absolutely worth the price - Positiv: big yard with (small) pool and nice sitting area, nice breakfast location. Breakfast not much choice but all-you-can-eat. Still quite central, walking distance to fuente.
Negative: The hotel is built around a 30 m high antenna. This lets your cell phone go crazy while charging with a cheap charger. Wifi slow but this is standard in other hotels as well...
- Riza (8/5): Vacation Hotel Cebu - It's off the main road about 200 yards which makes it a little more private and quiet place to stay. Seven-Eleven, McDonalds, and Jolibee and 5 minute walk away.
Ayala center is a 30 minute walk or 5-10 in taxi away.
Nice play to stay for the price.
- Anonymous (8/5): Good thing is that it is spacious - Good thing is that it is spacious & swimming pool is well maintained.. But the aircondition is not in good condition and it makes a lot of noise. i booked the room for three and i had only one bathing soap in the room?. and no shampoo ?. the bath towels are too small and can be used for babies or kids like 10 years and under and can not be used for elder people.
