• Greg (7/5): - What a beautiful view. Very nice old building. The staff were very friendly. Lots of Adirondack chairs for sitting out on the lawns to see the view. The restaurant was closed. There was a small restaurant about a km away. Otherwise the hotel is not located close to other amenities. We walked to the closest restaurant down the hill so we could have a drink.

Beautiful view from the breakfast area, with lots of large windows to take it all in. It's an older place so the pipes are a little noisy. It wasn't a big problem though.

• Michele (8/5): They care for you well here! - The breakfast was good and the view over the water while eating it was special. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. Despite the good service the hotel did not feel luxurious. Our room was very tired with decor from the last century.

Overall, they offer very good value. The room is a little dark. We did see some spiders in the room. The interior is a little outdated and needs some refreshments.

• Ruth (8/5): Doubt I’ll stay there again - We sat out in the Adirondack chairs for dinner and took pictures of the wonderful view We were not able to stay for breakfast but it looked like it would be very good. The owner was very nice and accommodating but we didn’t meet him til we were leaving I think the cost fit for the rooms on the back side with the gorgeous view but not the front. I think the room is not big enough for three people- it’s fine to have the pullout but no room for luggage etc The woman at the desk was a friend helping - seemed a bit ditzy - gave our room to someone else but said it didn’t matter. But then we didn’t have enough cups glasses and towels Didn’t really welcome us and give us the welcoming speed. And thought I should pay when I already paid Booking.com- asked me if I had a voucher but when I got my phone and my booking confirmation and $ guaranteed. I couldn’t find her Told the owner when we were leaving he seemed fine with that Also a note at front desk that we saw when leaving to not drink the water- too late- maybe should have bottled water readily available if can’t drink water

Breakfast was solid and the staff were incredibly pleasant. It's a bit of a drive back to town (Ingonish) and the trail heads, but not enough to be a bother. We will be back!

We had an Ocean view room which was very comfortable. We even were welcomed and had fun playing bluegrass music in their lounge area. We really hope to return and stay longer next time!

It is an old house changed to a hotel, so it gives you the feeling of being at home, especially with the decoration of the salon! The salon ( lobby) is very beautifully decorated by the old pictures of the owner and vintage furniture. The view of the salon where the breakfast tables are situated is amazing! You can enjoy your breakfast watching the sea, the island and the forest. The breakfast was great. You could find a great variety of cold and warm food. We had an unforgettable experience, so I recommend this calm and clean hotel to everyone.

• danmG6476QS (4/5): Decent views, dated rooms needing minor work but clean, sketchy with credit cards - Okay place, kind of dated and in need of a refresh. Room had a lovely view, so does the dining room. Room needed some maintenance done and the toilet paper was 0.5ply. Food was not very good but the staff are very friendly and helpful. Seems kind of odd and risky how they work your credit card. First they make you reserve a room with your card and take down all your info online on their booking page, pretty normal. Then when you check in they make you write out your credit card, name, expiry, and security code on your check in sheet even though the sheet doesn’t ask for it, never happened to be before, then they want this repeated with all your card info a third time again when you check out. I would stay here again if the price is right compared to others, or if they freshened the place up and didn’t seem so sketchy with my credit card.

The owner was very informative and clearly loved the region - gave helpful advice that we followed. The inn no longer serves evening meals and there did not seem a lot of options locally - probably nothing in walking distance. The breakfast was pretty standard - don’t recall anything that seemed home cooked.

• An (10/5): A County Inn with exceptional beautiful view - The hotel is just beside the National Park, in an incredibly good location. The hotel itself with a beautiful view. The breakfast is well prepared with a good variety.

• Jeremy (3/5): Noisy, uncomfortable bed (deal-breaker!!) good breakfast. - Breakfast was excellent. The wrought iron bed was soggy and very creaky and noisy. Any movement made it creak and groan loudly. The mattress was too soft and offered very little lumbar support and the box spring underneath the mattress creaked noisily at the slightest movement in bed. I was awoken many times during the night by the noisy bed. As a result, I felt sleep-deprived in the morning. Since a good night’s sleep is an essential factor in determining the value of an overnight accommodation, I would be loathe to recommend the castle rock country inn to others based on my experience.

• Maryam (10/5): - We loved staying at Castle Rock Country Inn. It is located in a beautiful location and close to the Cape Breton National Park. The staff were amazing and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We consider booking it again in the future.

• elderlyon (10/5): Good .ase for exploring Cape Breton) - Very comfortable clean room. Staff very gracious. Common area with many windows includes tables for sumptuous breakfast and also for wine and beer. We brought crackers and cheese to go with our wine and enjoyed them on the deck. Views are of hotel grounds and distant ocean. Good starting point for hikes in Cape Breton Highlands, but all trails were closed when we were there (fire risk). We did have some good long beach walks though.
