Guest Reviews
- Simon (8/5): - Nice and quiet surroundings

- Gary (9/5): Relaxing with very helpful staff - Really relaxing place, can walk to market but just a short Tuk Tuk ride. Breakfast was excellent and delivered to our bungalow. The staff were professional and very friendly. Look forward to staying there again. Few mosquitos, little repellent helped.
- Come along (10/5): Loved it - I liked everything from a welcoming arrival through to a pleasant departure Nothing
- Jack (10/5): Your perfect Kep stay is right here. - Psst, this is THE place to stay in Kep. Steve and his wonderful team are fantastic — so attentive, kind and great to chat to. Our eggs in the morning were always just what we needed. The property’s right by Kep National Park and a stone’s throw from the top local crab restaurants, so it couldn’t be more ideal in terms of location. And as for peace and comfort, you’re guaranteed it in the calming bungalows. Just brilliant. N/A
- Martyn (10/5): Good Place Good People - The bungalow was spacious and spotlessly clean, as was the bedding. The rooms are cleaned daily by the polite and friendly cleaning staff. The mattress on the bed is some kind of memory foam so very soft and comfortable compared to many of the hard mattresses you tend to find in SE Asia. The bathroom has a hot shower with good water pressure.
The room has a large bed, good aircon, large fan, refrigerator, kettle with some complimentary tea and coffee, a table and two chairs as well as a clothes rack with lots of hangers to hang your clothes up. There's another table where you can put items and store your bags underneath. Two bottles of water are provided everyday for free. The room also has decent WiFi. There's a good sized terrace area at the front of the bunglaow with a table and two chairs where you can chill out and enjoy the beautiful trees and plants in the tropical garden.
The location is just a few minutes walk away from the crab market and various restaurants. There's also a small shop for essentials and an atm within easy walking distance.
The owners are lovely friendly people and are very helpful. They can arrange tuk tuks, and tours etc and will also help you hire a scooter or even loan you a free bicycle so you can explore the coast. They serve a good breakfas, as well as various beverages including beer and coffee, for a very reasonable price.
I noticed some reviews criticising the fact that the disabled and rescued cats at the property are kept in cages. This is really unfair to the owners. The cats are kept in large cages where they have space to move around and are regularly taken out to play and get some exercise indoors. The blind cat even gets walked on a leash. If these cats were allowed to roam freely outdoors then they probably wouldn't last very long as they dont have the street smarts to deal with the dogs and other animals that could hurt them. Nothing. I really enjoyed my stay and would happily stay again if I ever return to Kep. Thanks very much Steve and Sotheary!
- Pascale (9/5): - L’aspect très verdure et son jardin avec un bungalow en bois naturel. La propriétaire élève des chats et dans la journée les cris des chatons sont pas très agréables.
- Carina (10/5): A Peaceful Oasis Near Kep’s Crab Market and National Park - We booked this property for its proximity to the crab market and restaurants and we ended up also finding a peaceful little oasis. It’s within walking distance of the gorgeous Kep National Park loop, a mostly shaded, paved 2–3 hour hike that would be great even for families with strollers. After two years of full-time travel, we were tired of the tourist crowds, so discovering Kep was a breath of fresh air. It’s close enough to Kampot for conveniences (like unexpected dental care), yet far enough to feel quiet and uncrowded. The small property and rooms are spotless, run by a lovely couple (and their friendly staff and cute pets), who also kindly arranged a reasonably priced private transfer to Sihanoukville for us. We stayed in AC rooms, but when a storm knocked out the power inside, plugging in a fan outside kept us cool, so the non-AC rustic cabins would likely be comfortable too. All of the cabins are well-shaded by the beautiful landscaping, and spaced for privacy. The inexpensive but generously portioned breakfasts were also a big highlight. And it was such a treat to finally enjoy a decent cup of coffee! This has been one of our favorite guesthouses in SE Asia. We stayed a week but easily could’ve stayed a month. No negatives— but be aware they only take cash
- Eliya (10/5): - Everything! From the wonderful owners and staff, all the lovely animals, the help they offered, the breakfasts...everything was great. The bungalow had so much space and the bed was large and comfy with a big mosquito net. I loved the peace and enjoyed reading on my hammock!
- Jerry (8/5): -

- Naomi (10/5): Beautiful place - Lovely little place, the bungalow was beautiful, set in lush gardens and the couple that run it are kind, helpful and fun. Highly recommend a stay here.

- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Rikl (10/5): Family holiday - Very peaceful place to stay in traditional style bungalow, situated within a lush garden environment.
Can hear the Howling Monkeys at night, lots of large Leopard Geckos living around the area.
Very close to the crab market area. Only a couple of rooms with air conditioning available.
- Jade (10/5): Wonderful stay - Fabulous bungalow accomodation in a lovely quaint setting, lovely welcome and goodbye, exceptionally clean and helpful owners with assistance getting around, motorcycle, recommended places and restaurants.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The Property Owners care about their clients
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The owners actually cared and you could tell
- Lloyd (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (10/5): Back to Nature - Great cottage accommodation, with good en-suite shower. Spotlessly clean. Situated in a quiet area, only a short walk from The Crab Market. Excellent service from Steve & his lovely wife. Good breakfast option. A real "Back to Nature" experience. No A/C, but maybe that would spoil the experience.
- Leonie (8/5): Very good -
- Malgorzata (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hosts and great location!!!
- Amber (8/5): Private and relaxing property with very kind hosts. - Very private property on a quiet street. Once you entered the gate it felt like a tropical paradise with beautiful plants and well landscaped grounds. Each bungalow was nicely spaced from each other providing adequate privacy. We stayed in a wooden cottage and my partner swears he saw a rodent of some sort scurry across the ceiling ledge. I never spotted it and we slept without critters sneaking into the bed, so I was fine!
- Penelope (6/5): 9 - 5 mins walk to crab market and restaurants. . $2 tuk tuk to beach. The lady owner was lovely. The bed was awful. Both sides with dips. Bungalow we stayed in needs some TLC overall. Not worth the $31 a night in comparison to other places we've stayed in Cambodia.
- Niquilba (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laure-lou (10/5): Exceptional - It's was the best stay we had during our trip, we will not hesitate to come back !
- Vy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natania (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (8/5): Very pleasant stay at Bird of Paradise Bungalows! - Good location, can easily walk to the Crab market and other restaurants. Near to the National Park as well.
Nice breakfast for $4.50 and the place is chilled and relaxed. Nice Gardens and the people running the place are very relaxed and friendly! No fridge or kettle in room which is not a deal breaker but something we had gotten used to whilst travelling around....forgot to check before we booked. They will keep stuff in their fridge for you though which is very handy!
- Fabien (10/5): Quiet paradise - The place is so quiet and well kept
I rented a wood bungalow, very well equipped. I especially enjoyed the gimmick on the deck
The place is so rescind and the hosts so kind and helpful.
The location is perfect: in a quiet street, but next to the carb market and a very convenient small supermarket around the corner
- Claudina (10/5): Perfect location with very helpful hosts. We had a wonderful stay. - Our hosts were very helpful, lots of local information, help with booking tickets and a scooter. Perfect location. We had a wonderful stay. Nothing, it was perfect
- Francis (9/5): Nice to know that staying there helps the rescued animals. - They are looking after sick and injured animals. Nothing
- David (10/5): Hanging out in Kep. - This place is great. The owner Steve looks out for his guests and is very knowledgeable about the area and can direct you to whatever your needs maybe. It is set in a beautiful jungle environment and is very serene.Quiet and secure. The lighting and plumbing is good.Plenty of electrical outlets. It’s a 10 minute walk to the Crab Market, about 20 minutes to the beach.Steve can get you set up with a scooter or a bicycle.A well stocked and friendly convenience store is around the corner.Every one I met here was cool and it’s a beautiful location.Looking forward to going back. Can’t come up with any negativity.
I wish they had safes in the rooms.
- Nnas (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay! A big thank you to Steve and his wife for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Highly recommended! See you next time !!
- Helena (9/5): Nice place to stay in Kep ! - The bungalows are nice in a lovely garden (but you can hear a lot of different animals during the night, I got a little bit scared at some point - but that’s just me).
You can borrow a bicycle.
Owners are nice and helpful - they booked a bus for me. Cats in cages at the reception.
- Stephen (10/5): A very enjoyable stay in a great location - Owners were very welcoming and friendly - and helpful in recommending restaurants and arranging a tuk tuk to Kampot. Breakfast was great
- Izzy (10/5): the owners are honestly such nice people, recommended lots of things for us to do and were beyond helpful. Such nice peo - Great location within walking distance from the crab market and many restaurants. Kep beach only a 5 min tuk tuk away. Super quiet area.
Good bathroom, shower had hot water (not that we needed it!) Nothing
- Lars (10/5): Exceptional - Really kind & helpful owners! Good value for money!
Just stayed for one night: Took the bicycle the owners provided to explore the crab market and the coast, next morning start a 2 hours hike from the accomodation in the national park!
- Chris (6/5): It could be great - Great location and good sized room. The property is very tired, mattress very uncomfortable, shower blocked, no hot water and no breakfast available due to the owner’s partner away at the time.
- John (8/5): great - "location"
relaxing environment, quiet, many varied trees, Birds, Cats & Dogs, Parrots, Geckos, etc
- Jane (9/5): I arrived 2 hours before check in but the owners allowed me to go straight to my bungalow. They are clean and comfortabl - It is in a nice quiet location and only a short walk from the beach and crab market. Nothing I didn’t like.
- Simone (8/5): Very good - Very Helpful booking motorbike, tuk tuk, information about where to go what to do, thank you!!! Best beds ever!!!
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were really kind and gave us valuable advices. The bungalows are cozy, and well located near the entrance of the national park and the crab market. Nothing
- John (8/5): Very good - excellent location, quiet, near (but not too near) the crab market/restaurants & hillside views, plus handy for local shop
- Linda (8/5): Great little oasis with lovely helpful owners. - Great location within walking distance to Crab Market. Beautiful little bungalows in a jungly garden. Perfect for chilling out on a hammock and reading a book in the afternoon heat. The property owners were extremely welcoming and very helpful with tips and organising things such as transport. Unavoidable but no water from showers due to local issue. Sink worked fine. Did not affect my experience at all.
- Jamel (8/5): Very good -
- Ty (10/5): - Very peaceful and quiet.
- Victoria (9/5): Spotlessly clean, beautiful wooden bungalow in a great spot. - Beautiful garden, stunning wooden bungalow that was spotlessly clean, extra bonus if you're an animal lover. Easy walk to the crab market. Nothing - all great
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Ulrike (9/5): Superb - I had a really pleasant stay in this little oasis. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the Crab Market. I can definitely recommend this place. -
- Jmonvid (10/5): Perfect stay and great location - Whilst everything you could want is within short walking distance of the property (entrance to the national park, the beach, the crab and seafood market, a great mini mart with good prices, wonderful restaurants)(short tuk tuk ride to the pepper farms), it is also the perfect place to relax on the porch of your bungalow with a drink and a book in a tranquil garden.
The passion and care of the hosts here is shown most clearly through their love and dedication towards the numerous animals they have rescued that also live on the property (dogs, cats, birds, squirrels). The animals are so friendly and sweet, and I absolutely loved having a cuddle with the dogs and cats.
The hosts run a wonderful accommodation between them and they took care of everything we needed including onward travel tickets. You can also borrow bicycles from them which are in great condition compared to many others we've used elsewhere, and they can arrange scooter rental for you too.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and absolutely immaculately clean. We had fresh water, tea, coffee and towels every day. The breakfasts made by the hosts are also good portions and tasty at very reasonable prices. We loved our stay so much that we extended it by 2 nights and, to be honest, I would have stayed indefinitely if I could have.
- Jeroen (9/5): Superb - Very welcoming hosts.
- dominique (10/5): Paradis - Le séjour c'est très bien passé, cadre très nature ainsi que les bungalows, propre et les propriétaires très attentionné.
- Gwyn (10/5): happy6 - everything none

- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Rhian (9/5): Peaceful and convenient location - The brick bungalows are really spacious and nice and cool under the trees. It's also a quiet spot and still very handy for accessing the national park and the crab market. The option to borrow bicycles was also a bonus.
- Vy (10/5): Best Experience in Kep - The owner is very kind and so helpful. I recommend this bugalows if you want to get best experience in Kep.
- Adrianus (8/5): Very good - Air on needs servicing
- Isobel (7/5): Perfect stay for Kep. - Clean and air con was good in our room. We would recommend the air con rooms as it’s a lot more closed off to the elements and insects. Was close to the national park and had some cute pets. Not much actually.
- Hok (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (10/5): You’d be silly not to stay here - it’s great! - We stayed here for 1 night on our way over to Vietnam.
The place is just great. Great location for national park and crab market (highly recommend both). Bungalow is basic but has heaps of character and does what it says on the tin!
Steve and his partner are super lovely and will do anything they can to make your stay as good as it can be.
They helped us with transport over the boarder and ferry to Phu Quoc, served us a lovely breakfast on our bungalow balcony before we left and are just genuinely really lovely people. The rescued animals on the property that they care for, say it all.
Just wish we would have had time to stay longer!
Thank you for a lovely stay. Absolutely nothing. Loved it!
- Anna (10/5): - We had some really relaxed days at Bird of Paradise bungalows. Very nice staff and the owner is always happy to help and to share some good advice. Very good location and motorbike rental is available on short notice.
We really appreciated the proper size or our morning coffee mug which was more than generous :)
- David (10/5): Perfect spot to while away a few days. - I loved the secluded feel of my bungalow in a beautifully tended garden. I was served an excellent breakfast every morning on my verandah and the hosts were so helpful in sorting out a passport problem and arranging transport.
The complex of bungalows is very handy for, and a short walk from, the crab market and Kep National Park. The seafood restaurants on the seafront are generally excellent.
- Jones (9/5): Superb - Really nice and helping hosts.
Calm and cozy place.
- Eyal (9/5): Superb -
- Dubosq (10/5): Great stay, charming staff - The property is lovely, with a beautiful garden, and many cute animals (cats, ducks).
The bungalow we had very comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The AC was excellent.
We enjoyed the breakfast a lot, very good and perfect to start the day.
Finally, the staff is super nice, always ready to help. Very good experience
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - I like everything about Bird Of Paradise guest house - fantastic location, fantastic staff.
Was given fresh off the tree coconuts with my breakfast There is nothing to dislike about Bird Of Paradise guest house - the reason why I hope to stay on my next visit to Kep
- Nhorpros (9/5): Superb -
- Bunheng (10/5): Amazing - Super friendly owners, feel like home. Clean, tidy and organized.
- Kim (8/5): Very good - Feel like I'm the family member of the owner The TV doesn't work at all. No teabag or instant coffee
- Nayla (5/5): Passable -
- Elainecarr (9/5): Lovely oasis in Kep - We initially booked a timber bungalow, but when we arrived, although it was lovely, we felt it didn't fully meet our requirements.
We spoke to the owner, Steve, and agreed to pay for an upgrade to a superior double room. This room was lovely. It's really spacious, fridge, aircon, and storage space. and a
decent bathroom.
The place is spotlessly clean, and the room was cleaned every day to a high standard.
The garden is lovely- a shady jungle. There are bikes that you can use free of charge, and we enjoyed using them to explore locally.
The kittens and ducks are lovely to watch and would delight children's.
We had our laundry done, very efficient service. Steve helped with our onward travel arrangements- we were picked up at the gate by the Giant Ibis bus. I was unwell the day we left and Steve took my partner to the pharmacy to get some medicine before the bus left.
The location is perfect for the national park and the crab market. Our bed was a bit uncomfortable. You could feel the springs! I am sure if we had told Steve, he would have sorted it.
The timber bungalows are beautifully done but are very rustic a d with no aircon or fridge may not suit everyone. I would recommend the superior bungalows, but this obviously increases the price.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Friendly efficient owners & staff.
Lots of animals. Could use a fridge in the room to keep dri KS cold.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Good cabin.
Shower good.
Bed comfortably Karaoke noise till late but not too bad as some distance away.
- Andrab93 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (8/5): Lovely hosts and great location - Peaceful location, big room , nice shower, helpful friendly host very knowledgeable of area, loved the animals they have fostered, cats and dogs, birds and ducks , also free bikes to use Mattress on bed could do with a topper as could feel the springs, otherwise everything all good
- Capulet (10/5): Home away from home! - On arrival this place feels like a home. The owners are wonderful and kind people. Warmly greeted my partner and I. Making us feel truly welcome in the paradise they have created here. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to spend time in Kep. Thanks again!!! The bed was so comfy it was hard to get out of, best bed in Cambodia!
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean bungalows located five minutes from carb market and five minutes from national park! Steven and his wife are great hosts and helped us book our trip to Vietnam - bus picked us up at the form gate!! Also, our kids loved playing with all the adorable animals on-site! Nothing! It was great. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything the people who run it are lovely help you with any thing such a beautiful place ❤️
- Annick (9/5): Superb - The wooden cabin are wonderful.. and the garden too !
- Claire (9/5): Recommended - We really enjoyed our 4 nights here. Lovely big room, cleaned every day, comfortable bed. Kettle and fridge in our Aircon bungalow. Nice balcony looking out over the well kept jungly garden.
Steve was really helpful with recommendations for restaurants and helped with travel plans. He was a pleasure to chat with. The cats and ducks were cute, the dogs are kept away from guests.
Kep is undergoing development, it's possibly an acquired taste because we liked it more the longer we stayed.
The location of the bungalows is perfect, not far from anything. The national park right behind the bungalows, and is definitely worth a half day hike or more. The bathroom was 100% functional but could do with a makeover.
- Noémie (8/5): Nice bungalow - The bungalow was clean and comfortable. I had a gecko visiting in the night:)
- Garyn (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed here during our time in kep. The bungalow was very big and spacious and the Homestay is really nice. The location is perfect for the crab market and the beach - close to everything. The owner is so lovely, she rescues a lot of animals that have disabilities like blindness and gives them a chance at a good life, genuinely so nice to see. If you’re in Kep, I really recommend you stay here because this woman is so wholesome and lovely you’ll definitely enjoy your stay here.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
