- Bruno (10/5): Very Charming Colonial -Centrally Located - Very Charming Colonial style hotel close to shopping, parks, eats. Great WIFI, excellent service from everybody. Good complimentary breakfast provided next door. Only neg comments are that the Suite I received was cold, a space heater was provided but it didn't quite heat up the whole room. The bathroom has some Very low beams, banged my head a couple of time getting out the bathroom. Clawfoot bathtub a Plus after a long day of sightseeing! Great value.

Recomendable.
- Itzbi K (8/5): - Pros -Beautiful architecture and amazing customer service
Cons-steep stairs, small rooms.
- James Waltham (10/5): - Very nice hotel. Room was a very nice. The claw-foot bathtub was something I've rarely seen in a bathroom. Some evenings it did get very noisy because the hotel seems to be booked with a lot of tour groups. The location was excellent.
- JULIO CESAR LICONA (6/5): - Muy agradable
- Juan Carlos Limon (8/5): - Staff was nice and room was nice. However, the bathrooms in the two rooms we stayed were just way too small. WiFi was just okay at best. Location was great though.
- Rafael S (10/5): Muuuy agradable!!!
- Jorge Perez (2/5): Nice colonial setting, terrible service - Terrible wi-fi, room was not ready.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very well kept property, clean rooms and excellent staff. The property is located close to restaurants and shopping.
We hired Ramiro ovando for some excellent tours, his service made him a friend. Call Ramiro at 01152967-107-8173 for great service in tours at great value
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I didn’t like the hotel. It was expensive for what it was: small room, poor service and it was cold and noisy. We will not go back, either recommand.
- Jose luis (6/5): t looks nice but it’s not so comfortable - I got the Room on the first floor near to the street with a lot of noise only if you’re really tired. It’s smell like humidity and the mattress has a plastic protector very uncomfortable
- Art (10/5): - The personal give you a excellent service, clean areas, fast service
- isaias (10/5): great hotel, close to the plaza - great hotel, friendly staff, super helpful, close to the plaza and restaurants
- C.Miller (2/5): - It should not be listed as a VIP+ property, the staff is rude, the rooms are abismal.
- Isaac (10/5): - The rooftop views are beautiful. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the place, very friendly staff and clean rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice cozy hotel right by all restaurants and bars.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unprofessional, unfriendly staff but clean hotel - Casavieja is advertised as an adults only inn. While my husband and I were there, dozens of teenagers were staying there on a class trip. Loud noises like, yelling, music, and doors being slammed were regular. The staff doesn’t even look up at you as you leave and enter. The space is beautiful but the staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. My husband and I didn’t receive water our second day there and we had to walk to a corner store to get clean water. We were so excited to stay here again as we regularly visit San Cristobal twice a year. Never again!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The historic quaintness of the building in general. The cordiality and helpfull nature of the staff.
Not leaving coffeee packets over night, quarters are somewhat tight; not enough outlets.
- JohnPaul (8/5): A Comfortable Colonial Hotel in a Colonial City - I chose this hotel because of its colonial style. It is called”old house” and this refers to the architecture and decoration style. Unlike newer hotels, there is plenty of space: an ample lobby, lounge, sitting room with TV, and two inner patios with flowers and plants. Parking and restaurant are close by across the street.
Breakfast was abundant and tasty; once more, the restaurant is large with plenty of room, with tables set for two, four, six; my wife and I were able to find our cost corner.
It was windy and cold in the evening at this time of year. A heater was supplied and extra bed clothes.
Everybody was kind and courteous and we had no problems at check in and check out
- Geovanni (4/5): - This place is beautiful and some of the staff are kind of nice.. not worth the price.. rooms are very cold and really nothing special. I would never stay there again. The windows don’t even close, I was there with my mom, she was so cold she got sick from the cold rooms and bathrooms..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Establishment is clean, charming, and warm. Nice location and good price. Only thing that it wasn’t good was the internet/wifi. No connection at all, given the fact how vital wifi is this day, the establishment could do better to improve it. Otherwise, not sell it as a commodity.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice hotel with very nice arquitecture, but bad internet! But really a nice peaceful hotel
- Ella (8/5): - Hotel needs staff who speaks English. Property was pretty .
- Fiona (10/5): - Great location, great showers .. rare in our experience so far! Quiet
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel, well situated but our room had a water pump strong noise than turned on and off every several minutes, at times there’s no hot water and or it takes several minutes to “arrive”
- Rey (10/5): - Couldn't choose a better place to stay... it meet all my expectations
- Elva (6/5): - The hotel was clean and peaceful. At night is very noice b/c you hear all the cars from outside and people talking. Very noice to sleep.
- Maria Angeles Irma Patric (10/5): - San Cristobal is a gorgeous town, would love to go back, and Casa vieja is where I will stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming - I love this hotel for the character and old charm beauty and the staff is very friendly. I will stay at this hotel again.
- Danilo (10/5): - Nice hotel, nice stay, good position. I would definitely recommend it
- stephen (10/5): Nice, Quiet, Clean. - Staff was low key and non-obtrusive.
The hotel was very quiet. Most guests were travelers who checked in late and left early the next morming.
Water pressure great with plenty of hot water.
Just a few blocks from everything in centro.
A bit more then we like to pay but made a very memorable visit to the area even more special.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Old world charm but not from the staff - Good value. Very attractive old house. Rooms have windows onto courtyard and could be noisy. Staff efficient to the point of rudeness. No info offered whatsoever, we only found out it had a restaurant as we left! Parking convenient across the street
- Linda (10/5): A treasure - We so enjoyed staying in this boutique hotel in the Centro district. This is a 400 year old building that has been restored however has kept the old style charm. Many pieces of antiques can be found through the facility. The court yard is beautiful. The wine cellar is worth asking to see.
This hotel is located about two blocks from the main square. From there you can find the Amber Museum, Chocolate museum, Jade museum, and explore the many churches or just sit in the park and watch the people.
- Bobbie (8/5): well located hotel - Weather was not cooperative during our stay, appreciated room heaters
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful Hotel - So some of the positives of the hotel is that it is beautiful hotel. Breakfast is included as well, and there are extra blankets and a heater in the rooms. Parking is included which is great because the streets are so tiny that it makes it impossible to find parking. It is a few minute walk away from where all the restaurants are. What I did not like is that I paid for a room with two beds and another room with a king bed. The room with the king bed did not look like a king, but a queen though the sizes may be different because it is a different country. The other room I was given another room with a king bed. When I told the receptionist that I needed a room with two beds she said they gave me the single bed room because I had disclosed that it was only two people in that room. I said the doesn't matter I paid for a room with two beds. I lost that battle and had to stay with the room with just one bed even though I needed two beds. I had a hard time finding the room and once I did the room door had been left wide open. The room was beautiful and the beds were comfortable, but there was not enough plugs in my opinion because you had to disconnect the clock or the room lamps which is how you turned on the lights by the way. Really nice hotel, and I would probably stay again if the staff was more helpful and gave me the room I paid for.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Noisy rooms - There is a lot of noise in the hotel rooms. The worst romos are the ones facing the street, you can hear everything: cars, people walking by at night, motorcycles. The rooms facing the patio do not are less noisy, but you still can hear the noise of guests arriving late at night or leaving very early ... the noise of the steps, the suitcases, the voices. If you are sensitive to noise, do not choose this hotel. The beds are hard, they really need to change the mattresses. The pillows are not comfortable. The windows do not close hermetically so you not only can hear the noise, but makes the room cold at night. Some romos have a window facing the corridor, making them stuffy….you’ll have to keep the curtains closed so other guest don’t see you. There is no safety deposit box in the rooms. The wifi in the romos is slow.
The bathroom is small, I posted photo so they can see how narrow it is. No space to place anything in the bathroom, the sink is tiny. The restaurant is across the street about 30 steps away from the hotel. The decor of the hotel is nice, looks good, but unfortunately the noise at night makes this hotel uncomfortable. Would not return to this hotel.
I also have to mention that the laddy working at the frontdesk in the evening (not the one working in the morning shift) is not at all friendly and has no service attiutd, she seems to be always on a bad mood.
- Hotel CasaVieja (10/5): Love at first sight! - The hotel's decor is Beautiful! It made our stay comfortable. even thought we encountered an 8.4 earthquake during our stay in San Cristobal de las Casas, the hotel offered a safe haven. The restaurant is equally beautiful with great food!
- Byron (10/5): San Cristóbal de las Casa - Awesome historic hotel in great area. Rooms were very comfortable and staff was very nice. Highly recommend.
- anita (10/5): - Nice hotel and walking distance to downtown. Excellent for families
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Place - Great place to stay. Only 1 block from the main walking strip. Only issue I would say is the street noise but I guess all hotels in the area have to deal with the same issue.
- magda (8/5): Nice colonial hotel in the heart of San Cristobal - Linens where stained. Called to front desk to be replaced and they didn't replace until next day. They were clean but stained.
- Federico (8/5): No HOT water!! - No hot water!!
- agustin (10/5): Discovering San Cristobal - Nice located hotel to visit San Cristobal
Good facilities, excellent staff
- Suzanne (10/5): Charming hotel, in great location! - This was a repeat stay at this hotel. We love the location, close to the walking street , restaurants and shops. It is a charming hotel, comfortable, English television stations, great wifi...secure parking.
We would definitely stay here in return trips!
- Mary (10/5): Colonial with style. - This was the type of hotel that we love. Full of ambiance yet providing all that we required for comfort. The staff were very helpful, the room was cleaned quickly and with care for our possessions.
We were on a quiet street but only a block away from a car free walking street with tons of interest.
Our only regret was that we missed tipping the Porter that got a taxi for us and handled our bags as we left.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel!!! - Hotel is beautiful, loved the style! Rooms are nice although a little small, specially the bathroom area. Location is within walking distance to restaurants, bars, markets and pretty much everything you would want to do/visit!
- sarahi (8/5): Very pretty loved the garden - Most rooms are doubles we had to get a double room but it was ok beds are a bit small. Overall the hotel is great very classic
- Elisa (8/5): Nice location, good conditions - Excellent location and very nice, family-style hotel. The bed in our room wasn't so conformable, so a change in mattress would be recommended
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing place to stay close to everything - Hotel is located a street behind the main road. This location helps it be near everything but not full on with processions , strikes or anything with lots of people. The hotel itself it is a beautiful place from the inside. Rooms are confortable, clean and quiet.
- Einat (6/5): Nice and cozy but many disadvantages - Pro's:
Good service, great location beautiful atmosphere, cozy and warm.
Con's:
Constant noise from pipes, poor internet reception, smell of mold sometimes, toilet gets clogged easily. Noisy in the morning (weird knocking sound)
Price is high considering all the above, yet it is still cozy and warm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): CLOSE TO EVERYTHING - EXCELLENT HOTEL IN GENERAL MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS DE WIFI IT WAS VERY ERRATIC
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great staff! - The manager went out of his way to help us when needed.
- Caro (10/5): Beautiful hotel with excellent service - My family and I spent four nights at this great hotel. It has a great location, one block away from the Andador de Guadalupe (which is a street with stores and restaurants) and maybe 3 to 4 blocks to the Main Plaza. The hotel is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and 3 great manicured patios. Very relaxing atmosphere. We highly recommend it.
- JoEllen (6/5): Basic hotel - I thought the hotel was a bit dark and crabby unless you had a court view. It was a bit over rated on trip advisor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute little hotel - This is a cute little hotel close to the Paseo de Guadalupe, but not too close to downtown (only 6 very short blocks away, though). The location is excellent as there is no street noise. The rooms are cozy and beautiful. They are quite small, but enough for 1-2 people. The service is great. The staff is very nice and helpful. If you need anything, they'll get it for you in no time. I only had to issues: one on the night I arrived. The room I was assigned did not have great internet connection, but they kindly relocated me to another and I had no issues afterwards. They also changed some light bulbs for me. The ones in the room were working fine but they were too bright for my taste, so they changed them in no time too, and they didn't even seem to mind or think anything of that. They also got taxis and packages for me in no time. The other issue was some running water on the patio. I think there was a leak because it sounded like it was raining when it was not. The good thing is that it really sounded like rain, so I didn't mind much. However, I worry about conserving water and I wish they could maintain/upgrade this old property better so it looks just as beautiful but is energy efficient.
- tina J (6/5): Didn't met my expectations. - The decoration of the hotelis pretty. The things that I really dislike was the noises in the morning, peope walking and talking loud, the room was not well clean all the time, especially the bathroom. The room size was small and the bathroom wa a joke. Not enough space and the shower smell bad.. (We stayed for 4 nights and in the room 30).. if you plan to stay in this hotel make sure to request other room except 30.
- Robert (10/5): San Cristobal - i visited San Cristobal from 4/16-4/23/15 it is an amazing little town to stay at. I really recommend you choose San cristobal as your stay and take the trips here if possible. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the cathedral but it's only about two blocks away from all the amazing restaurants they have. I really love this town and the hotel was great!
- Margaretha (10/5): Beautiful hotel - We arrived late in the evening after a long bus ride from Palenque and were really tired. The staff was really nice and accomodating. Beautiful common areas that made us feel like we were in a home rather than a hotel. Our room was a little small but very tasteful with comfortable beds. The hotel does not have an elevator but this was no problem for us. Great location on a quiet street close to everything. If you stay here you must go down to the corner and eat at Entropia. They have the best crepes, tapas and other wonderful food. Live music every night! Highly recommend!
