Guest Reviews
- Martha (2/5): - The place is PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
- Jasen (2/5): - We never got to stay, they wouldn't answer the phone, i couldn't confirm my reservation either. And expedia doesn't like the truth
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was not open to the public. It was overrun by illegal migrants. They even had a written sign that said that we do not accept reservations. Hotels.com really dropped the ball on this one.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel is currently closed. No one is on the premises to check you in, no one responds to phone calls. They don't have rooms, the building looks trashy and disfunct.
Broken down cars without tires in parking lot. They charged me for the reservation without ever talking to me and without providing a room. Hotels.com needed 2 days to reach a manager and they claim that it is my fault not to stay in the closed hotel without rooms.
- Bill (2/5): - Property closed. Expedia is taking reservations on a closed business
- travis (4/5): No Pool - Pool doesn't work and hasn't for long time. They are clearly false advertising that.
- Bryce (8/5): - Pool was closed. Outside was pretty weathered. Rooms were clean and decent for a one night stay. Clientele was a little rough but overall it was ok considering the price and location.
- Alicia (2/5): - I had multiple people come up to me asking for drugs and money. Many people partying in the parking lot. The room I was in didn’t have a dead bolt it was broken off. The bathroom was black with foot prints I asked for a refund and it was denied. The only reason I needed a room was due to breaking down on the highway. I slept in my car at the orielys do to not feeling safe in the room
- Edmond (4/5): - Trash piled up outside of rooms.
- Bobbie (4/5): - The guy checking me in was friendly, really the only positive thing about the place. It looks NOTHING like its photos. The out side is scary looking amc Emeka bad. The room its self wasn't as bad as the out side. First thing i did was check for bed bugs, and was kinda surprised not to find any so that's good. But as a single female traveler would not go there again. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Shower was hot and good pressure
- crystal (8/5): - Nice hotel
- Suzanna (6/5): - Pool advertised but not operational. Police tape on the stairs by the office.
- Kristen (2/5): - Was stuck in snow storm so I didn't arrive to check in until almost 3am. Took 20 minutes of ringing the bell and banging on the window for the guy to WAKE UP and come help me. Then he asked me how long I wanted a room for. I had made a reservation! I told him I want the room I reserved until check out! Which seemed to be really hard for this guy to understand and I don't know how. Then he told me I could only pay the pet fee in cash w no receipt so I said no way.
Room was disgusting and looks like it hadn't been cleaned in months?! Shower floor and toilet base caked with dirt. Toilet had pee on the back. Floors never cleaned. Dirt and food on the walls. Pee on the beds comforter. Bring your own sheets and bleach, and don't touch anything as much as possible.
- philip (8/5): - Good value
- Kimberly (2/5): - It was dirty.....But I did not mind until they charged me for my Reservation. then said they did not have that room available and they would have to cancel my reservation, then charged me 10.00 more. So I paid 110.00 for a filthy room with no remote for tv.
- Rodney (2/5): - Offered swimming pool not open. No breakfast
Blood was on Mattress. Sheets were very used. I didn’t stay a second night. I couldn’t recommend this to anyone
- Billy (10/5): - Great night
- brian (6/5): - this place has new people running it. They are not taking care of it like the others did. I would stay somewhere but my wife smokes and it's hard to find a smoking place
- Larry (8/5): - Nice and located well in Hays. An inexpensive place to stay. Near gas and restaurants. Friendly check in. Everything was clean. No worries.
- Ryan (2/5): - Dead moths were in the AC. Open old beer cans left in the fridge. Broken glass all over the parking lot. Huge weeds cover every walkway. Whoever owns this property doesn’t even put in the most basic effort of upkeep. Probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I will avoid Rodeway Inns at all costs now.
- Jasmine (4/5): - The sheets were dirty with clumps of dirt all over the bed, the floorboards were coming off of the floor, and the bathroom shower had either puke/blood droplets on it, shower curtain was dirty as well.
- Andrea (2/5): - The sheets were dirty and stained…my husband opted to sleep in his car rather than in the nasty beds.
- Joseph (2/5): STAY FAR AWAY - There was no one working when we showed up. Called the NUMBER left in the office. Waited over 30 minutes and no one showed up.
In the mean time we watched drug deals go down in the parking lot.
The lobby was very dirty, parking lot was full of trash and obvious drug users.
We felt completely unsafe and found a different hotel.
an hour later we got a call someone finally showed up.
- Troy (2/5): - I reserved a smoking room just to find out they don't have any smoking rooms. Nobody was there when we arrived. Took them 15 minutes to get there after calling. Then they proceed to go into room and put towels in it. I got up this morning and took shower and found the towels were dirty. Bunch black stuff all over them. Cheap price but not worth it.
- Kevin (2/5): One word: Absolutely Terrible! - Not sure I can fit everything here.
I stood by myself in the lobby for over 30 min before anyone helped me to check in. The lobby stunk and so did the rooms. whatever cleaner they are using smells terrible (if it was the cleaner). The towels also smelled terrible, lucky I brought a couple from home. Moths were flying all over in the room and even more dead moths on the floor. I used their stinky towels like a broom so I wasn't walking on them. I was scared to even consider the bedding because of all this so I brought a sleeping bag in from the care and layed it over the bed to sleep. If you stay here make sure to bring your own soap as none is supplied. Not even hand soap. I also witnessed drug deals happening outside by what I'm pretty sure was a weekly rental long term type of tennant as their room which I saw wide open had the appearance they had been there quite some time.
My advice is if this is the only rooms available you should sleep in your car! I know I'm sure sorry I didn't.
The Rodeway Inn corporate offices should be embarrassed to have their name on this place and hotels.com should be embarrassed for even showing a listing for it. I know I will think twice before I is this website again to find a room.
- Brian (6/5): - Upon arriving my room had very dirty floors and bathroom, no towels, no toilet paper, no soap/shampoo, stained bed linens, limited working fridge was not plugged in. When towels were requested at front desk I was given 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth. For the price I would say I got what I paid for. I would not stay here with my family.
- Ellen (6/5): - Cheap. In town.
- David (2/5): - Nice owner but the sheets, pillows and blankets are that of a 3rd world country. I guess that’s what America is now so at least they are par for the course
- David (2/5): - There was no one there to check us in. NO ONE!!! Prepaid and lost my money
- Jean (10/5): Amazed in Hays! - Highest recommendation for simple, straight-forward comfort off I-70! Staff was super friendly with easy luggage unloading directly in front of ground-level room door. Beds were perfect for us - nice, firm mattresses. Clean. Everything worked and the shower was awesome!
- Robert (2/5): - No cups in room. No aerator on bathroom faucet. Minimal outlets. No indication of Wi-Fi. Phone not working
- Carla (8/5): - No frills. Seems safe—outdated furniture and bedding.
- billy j. (10/5): - Clean rooms, good service, I have used them 6 times and I have always been satisfied
- Greg (6/5): - They have an insect problem. Especially on the backside of the building. The bedding is worn out. The pillows were shot. The bedspread had a hole in it. Wondering now if they wash all bedding every time they clean the room.. Basically the rooms were clean, except for some bigger bugs that made their way in the room. The Management was okay, but not overly helpful. For three nights the total came to a little over $300.00, I expected a little more for that..
- Ted (6/5): - It looked like they had done basic cleaning. Bathroom and floors clean. Nice drapes. But the walls had drips and finger prints. I like a chair and stool but they were obviously muddy. Yes I checked and was able to wipe some of it off. Although in an okay part of town the motels grounds were shoddy. We could have stayed in WaHeeney for a similar price and it had a 8.0 rating. I took a chance and lost. Bed was good and I slept. That’s something.
- Phillip (10/5): - It's a good basic motel. It was a good rate for a non smoking room with a fridge and micro. The only problem I had was a common one in motels, a noisy bathroom fan. Note that they do extended stay also and there are weekly and monthly rates. The staff was very polite and friendly. The room was clean and the A/C worked okay. Lots of fast food nearby, McD's, Qdoba, Etc. Also a couple of convivence stores. Parking for tractor-trailers is close by. There is a pool but I didn't use it.
- Padej (10/5): No Frills. - Want a room to rest just for the night, with no frills? This is the place to stay. Very reasonable rate and very clean.
- Michael (8/5): It was good for me - Do not judge the book by the cover. Outside was rough, but my room was nice and enjoyed my 4 day stay. Worst part about it was being located in a city that would build whatever the hell they call that mess of a road running in front of it.
- Kurt (10/5): Quick stop in Hayes - The room hss clean with tile floors. The air cooled room right down. Shower was roomy any easy to usr. Would stay again
- Lyndsey (6/5): - The room was comfortable and clean. The main issue we had was that a group of construction workers staying there drank and played loud music in the parking lot until mid-night. We could hear every beat of the music through the walls and window. Once a storm rolled in, they dispersed, but it was impossible to sleep until then. May have been a one-off experience.
- Billy (4/5): - The room was not great, by any means. The sheets had old stains on them, one bed was right up against the AC, and the AC was super loud. We were grossed out by the bedding and got horrible sleep because of the noise. We could also see daylight around the door and the AC. I wouldn't stay here again.
- Tammy (8/5): - It was a comfortable enough place to spend a night while passing through.
- Robert (10/5): Great but no wifi - Stay was almost perfect except the Wi-Fi wasn’t working so I could check weather Doppler.
- billy (10/5): - Place was clean, I have stayed there 4 times now and will stay again, completely satisfied.
- Tensita (10/5): - Very nice
- Verified traveler (6/5): not very clean - Shower was a good choice for the hotel, however the hotel overall needs much renovation and better cleanliness.
- Eric (4/5): Bugs and worms in the room. - The Staff are friendly enough, however we arrived late and couldn't see all of the bugs and worms in the room until the morning. When I mentioned this to the hotel staff and showed them photos of both the bugs and worms they apologized and said it was due to the corn field behind the hotel. Aside from the bugs the room was old and dingy. Sadly even though the staff was nice, I could recommend this place to anyone.
- John (8/5): - Streets under construction , too many detours, DANGEROUS TO NAVIGATE!
- Roy (6/5): - You get what you pay for
- John W (8/5): - Room was clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This motel was definitely overpriced for what they offered. It had the basics for a one night stay and it was mostly clean. Except for dead bugs in my room. Hardly any amenities, and the very small room smelled bad. No coffee, no hair dryer, no shower cap, etc. Ok for a quick stopover to get back on the road. Don't stay there to visit your college kids for a few days. Definitely overpriced.
- Debra (6/5): Should have close for construction - This hotel will probably be a roadside gem before the year is out. Right now I’d advise keep driving. The hotel is under a MAJOR renovation. Construction materials and dirt are everywhere. The newly remodeled room we were assigned was very nice
- Harvey (8/5): Would stay here again. Clean room. - First time staying here. The room was clean and in great condition. If you stay multiple days, your room will not be cleaned daily. I just went to office daily for fresh towels which wasn’t an issue. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room which is a bonus. We would stay there again when in Hays. Nothing fancy, but great price, close to restaurants and shopping
- Ted (6/5): - We don’t like to spend a lot for a bed so often we get what we paid for. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Overwhelming number of gnats (not sure if they were gnats). Mismatched colors. Possibly a work in progress.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is kind of run down. The staff is super friendly and respectful though. Also, having eating options near the hotel was very helpful too.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Employees were nice but facity was terrible, rooms small and meh. Definitely a shadt area.
- Carol (10/5): - Very clean. Room was spacious and very comfortable
- Craig (6/5): I'd stay, but my wife wounot like it. - Very basic room. Clean small, but it was a place to sleep while working in the area.
- David (6/5): minimal accommodations - Only needed a short nights sleep and then on the road again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the rooms being to the outdoors
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Adequate. Older property but clean
- Richard (8/5): - Quiet, comfortable room. My only real complaint would be terrible water pressure in the shower. Otherwise a good value
- Tancy (4/5): - I booked this trip through hotels.com and selected my room on the app. I also paid at the time of booking. When I got to the hotel the man charge me $10 more saying that it was wrong on the app and the room he gave me was pathetic. I ended up having to sterilize the room before I even went to sleep.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Skeptical... - Housekeeping didnt do a very good job cleaning. I only hoped they changed the bedding
- Billy (10/5): - Have stayed here 3 times and the rooms are always clean, no smoking rooms always smells fresh, the manager is always friendly, have the highest regard for this hotel, will definitely use them next trip!!
- Darrel (6/5): Basic lodging - Clean affordable lodging.
- Herbie (8/5): - Price was great. Room was alright. Just needed a place to sleep for the night. Well worth price
- Marilyn (8/5): Cigarette smell - Non smoking room, towels smelt like smoke. Sleept well, not much road noise.
- Susan (10/5): - Friendly staff, very attractively furnished room, everything worked.....very restful stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I check in little be late but it was quick process no long wairing. Receptionist was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was fine people friendly. The only problems were the phone didn't work and the door lock was difficult to use. Other than that very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property is run down and filthy bed is Lumpy rooms are small
- Verified traveler (4/5): - location of lodging was nice but the water pressure was lousey for it barly came out and it took a long time to get hot water
- Steven (10/5): Just fine! - It was fine!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel was the worst thing I have ever stayed in, in my entire life. If it wasn't already 1AM when we were checking in, I would have left and went to stay somewhere else - refund or not.
The entire room smelled like urine. The bed linens were dirty - the mattress themselves were very out-dated and dirty.
The walls were filthy, especially in the restroom.
Even though I felt the need to wear my shoes while I showered - the water pressure and temperature were great. Too bad I felt dirty as soon as I stepped out of the shower.
I would highly recommend staying anywhere BUT here.
- Tracy (2/5): Be sure to bring a can of Raid bug spray. - The lobby had a pungent odor, the room was infested with spiders and I ended up going to an Urgent Care for 13 spider bites. They show that they have a pool...but it wasn't filled. Trash from former guests. I feel like I should get a refund plus hazard pay. Hazard pay would be my expense for medical treatment. When my ride showed up it took me less than 5 minutes to get the Hell out of there.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - staff was nice and the location is ideal but the beds were not comfortable at all and the room was not the cleanest I get that it was a smoking room but I asked for one bed there was a bug in my bed sheets and a stain on the other bed sheet wifi sucked to get on also
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was ok. Bed was nice but small. Pretty clean. Not crazy bout smell
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pool was advertised but not filled. Provided us with 2 full sized towels for 4 people. Carpet was dirty. Water pressure was very weak with both sink and shower. Didn’t feel clean for 2 days.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great affordable motel - We had a very good stay. The front desk staff was very friendly. The bathroom in our room was newly remodeled. We had a change in our travel plans and asked if we could check out an hour later and staff was accommodating with our request. Pool was not yet open so a little disappointed about that. But would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The smell coming from the kitchen of the hotel was great. Shower was too small. Water pressure was not the greatest.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - room was not as clean as we would have liked, found black hair on one pillow and black hairs in the shower stuck to the wall. heater did not function correctly, no matter where we set it it was the same.
- Lori (10/5): - Clean building. Small room.
Weather is wet and drizzling and I have to go out of the room into the weather to get ice on the other side of the building and the coffee too. Ick!!
- Tammy (8/5): - The place was very clean and welcoming. I would stay again. The only thing is the bed mattress was hard and the only two pillows were flat.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was charged for a queen bed but it was definitely a full size. Wasn’t big enough. You could feel every spring in the bed. Thin blanket and sheets didn’t really have a good or bad smell. Shower was small and curtain was inadequate. Came with mini fridge, microwave, and tv. All worked appropriately. Was put on the “quiet side” but heard I70 all night. The smell outside reaked of human urine. Decent place to rest your head for a few hours but wouldn’t stay any longer
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a convenient location and friendly staff. Carpets needed cleaning. I could not let my baby crawl on the floor
- Trumpisfat&bald (6/5): - In the history of bad free breakfast this place was the worst. 5 Tiny bananas, some packets of cheap knockoff oatmeal, and two selections of cheap, knockoff cereal. I am guessing that prisoners get better breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I had bites on my stomach, back, and arm so they definitely have a bug problem. No one contacted seems to care. Only place in Hays I would NOT recommend.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Straight C’s accords the board with exception of checking in which was a D. Came in late at night with plans of leaving very early. Waiting 20 minutes to check in because the guy couldn’t use a computer. One and done for me.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - we were hunting was ok for that. The carpet need cleaned, water pressure low.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very disappointed - I was supposed to get a double room but they only had a single bed when I got there. I had a 7 year old with me and asked if they at least had a cot for him to sleep on but they said no. So the 3 of us had to sleep in one bed. I couldn't find another motel because they were having a pheasant hunting tournament or something and everywhere was booked up or too expensive. We also found a piece of brownie under the covers when we turned the bed covers down.
- Jay (4/5): - They gave away our room and had to sleep in a smoking room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - OK Room poorly furnished. Good rate. Close to restaurants. Good location for the price
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service was very accommodating
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice front staff, door by ice machine dangerous and swinging wildly
- DON (6/5): - It was cheap, close to the highway and near several fast food joints. Nothing fancy at all but that was what I was ecpecting. They advertized free breakfast but didnt have anything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was much better than expected. Staff was helpful and prompt. Rooms were clean. Great value.
- Nagle (4/5): - They have recently taken over a failing Motel 6 and have not taken care of the problems: the check-in process took forever because they had not converted to a new system, the ice machine was broken, the ancient air conditioners make all sort of alarming noises from rust, probably, and the listed "breakfast included" was non existent. Maybe a year from now they might have their act together, but they opened too soom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was mostly clean (floor could have been better) and staff was pleasant and helpful. Great price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - equivalent to price, as expected, no frills would utilize again and will soon,
