Guest Reviews
- Terry (6/5): - Definitely an older property, but was clean and had a comfortable bed. Danny was very pleasant and friendly.
- Duane (8/5): - Manager/host was one of the most helpful and nicest I have encountered. Motel a little dated, but beds were extremely comfortable.
- Tim (4/5): - Danny was fantastic.. highlight of the stay
The Property desperately needs attention w/ respect to repairs.
Yes, it’s an older facility, but the condition of the property, as well as the room, definitely need attention.
- Marc (10/5): - Clean room Staff air conditioning
- Kenny (10/5): - The owner is very nice and makes sure everything is good for your stay. It’s not a fancy motel, but it had everything we could ask for at a reasonable price.
- Thomas (2/5): - The air conditioner was loud, the area looked as if it needed to be condemned.
- Ronald (10/5): The personal touch - Although my travel was delayed causing us to arrive at 3:30 AM, I was in constant contact with the staff. Upon arrival, I was kindly greeted by the staff at the Budget Inn and was even offered a modest snack to take to the room. The property is somewhat old and lacked a few amenities such as electrical plugs but the room was clean and in proper working order for a quick in and out overnight stay. It was obvious that the manager took pride in providing the best possible service and experience. I’ll take that any day! If you’re in the area, preferably during normal business hours, you might just have to stop in and say hello to Benny.
- Eleazar (10/5): Just what we needed! - The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. The manager made sure that we were happy with our room and supplied us with drinking water and snacks. He definitely earned our business in the future
- Alan (10/5): - Owner was really kind and the place was cheap
- Oscar (10/5): - Very friendly staff.
- Michael (8/5): Friendly service at a dated facility - The Budget Inn in Sanderson is an affordable, somewhat dated motel. What makes this place worthwhile is the manager, Danny. He is friendly, engaging, and inquisitive. He brought fresh snacks to my room. The room was clean. The downside items: noisy air conditioner and dim lighting. My trip was solo and for business, so this was the right choice, and I would choose The Budget Inn again.
- martin (10/5): - Kind and gentle place.Perfect bed.Quiet
- Patty (8/5): - Good, reasonable room for sanderson. The others are very overpriced for this area. Danny was very helpful and friendly.
- Wesley (8/5): - Nice clean room, good bed
- jeffrey (10/5): - The property was quite basic but functional. The manager was a wonderful man who really made our staff a pleasant experience.
- Kacey (8/5): - The gentleman in the office was very friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! Beds could have been more comfortable but for a budget place to stay in such a small town I wasn’t expecting the Hilton.
- Hawken (8/5): - While it's not a fancy resort with all the resources, it's a quiet, simple stay with staff that aim to please, offering snacks and personal checkings of rooms, as well as flexibility in check-in/out times as they are able. Likely to become better as well the more visitors they receive now that they have re-opened after the pandemic, and offer a cheaper option for similar quality compared to the other main option in town.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay, it is a nice and affordable place to stay on your way to Big Bend. Thank you!
- Karl (10/5): - Very friendly employees, room simple but everything there what needed
- Aidan (10/5): - Simple, honest, and lower cost than the surrounding places, upon getting there danny at the frony desk was very friendly and gave me a try of snacks and a couple water bottles, i wish there were more motels like this.
- Brett (4/5): - The staff was very friendly, however the room was barely possible as a room. The door locks didn't work and the windows were sealed shut. The entire faculty lost power around 10 pm and no way to start chill by opening the windows. Would not recommend
- Adriana (10/5): - Our stay with
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff very helpful.
Motel urgently needs to be renovated and brought up to date.
Noise from railroad and car traffic.
- Kevin (10/5): Great stay/Great value - Excellent stay. The price was more than fair and I slept like an angel on the comfortable bed. The hotel fits in perfectly with the town and far west Texas.
- Kelli (2/5): - They were closed!!! They closed on July 2nd and no one let us know.
- Tomas (8/5): - This hotel is a relatively good hotel especially for being in a somewhat isolated area. Beds were comfortable, and the family that runs it is hospitable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was fine. IAM not writing a whole story.wished it had a breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff. Leak in bathroom. Not clean. Bed was clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Trip - We made a trip to the national park, the location of the motel is very quiet and peaceful. But the drive to the park is further out than expected. Overall the stay was what we expected.
- Veronika (4/5): - Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Provided snack tray at check in and brought hot tea to the room in the am. The property itself needs a major overhaul/ renovation. The hotel has seen better days.
- Jeff (10/5): Great place to stay. - Hotel manager provided the best service I've ever had in a motel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Really outdated hotel, bad service. Wouldn´t return. Didn´t feel like taking a shower in there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I found the owners to be friendly and helpful. We were given a tray of snacks before going to our room. The room was warm and quiet. It is an older motel single story in a small isolated town. I found it to be pleasant and would return. If you are looking for a more modern motel with a key card rather than a metal key you might be disappointed. I was not.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Has the best rate around the area. Nice and clean. If you just wanted a good night rest, this may be your best choice.
- Antonia (2/5): Worst Hotel EVER!! - Horrible service. Upon check in per hotels.com check in is between 3-11pm hotel rep said check in was until 9pm and was attempting to invalidate reservation. They also asked for payment when the payment had already been processed through hotels.com. We called hotel to verify this and the rep was rude and would not provide managers phone number and name or their name and hung up. Worst service ever. Do not stay here we ended up paying twice for this stay. Hotels.com has also failed to resolve this for us. Called and was unable to reach a rep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A good hotel considering its remote location. My room was clean and the staff helpful
- Marilyn (6/5): Limited options in Sanderson, TX! - The main positive of our stay was how friendly the Motel manager is.
The motel itself needs serious updating. Its pretty run down, old and dirty feeling. Even new comforters and pillows could help! 3 tiny pillows for a king size bed, could have used another.
Limited lodging options in Sanderson (2) and only one option for food! Next time we will keep driving and stay in a different location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner was very nice. They left us snacks in the room and brought us bottled water. I think he even waited for us to arrive even though we arrived after midnight
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Door mey didnt work, no one in tge office or answering phone, very shabby, enebt block walls, paint splattered walls, peeling doors, powsd outlet habving off wall, many extebtion cords
- Archie (6/5): Hunting lodge - Room had good beds, hot water, AC, heater, and TV. Could have been a bit cleaner, blanket on bed not just comforter, and better towels.
- LingLu (10/5): - Good. Thanks
We are very pleased with the property.
- Kelly (2/5): - Old and beat up. Sloppy painting. Downright scary. I was happy to leave.
- Kay (2/5): - The sheets were clean. Entire room in disrepair. Don't recommend it. There are 2 better looking motels in town
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property is in need of renovations. Staff was very courteous and willing to do anything you needed.
- Marcia (10/5): Stay here! - Phenomenal service. Even a free snack tray with fruit, cookies, granola bars, chips, water and pop included! Cute colorful place reminiscent of Route 66.
- J (6/5): - Standard Hotel. Hot water at the last room next to the highway was a little tepid by the time it reached our room. Otherwise standard older motel room. Front desk very friendly and helpful.
- Morris (6/5): - The property is dated as it was probably built in the 60s. It was clean and everything worked fine. Good WIFI and Direct TV. The manger was very nice and helpful. Sanderson is a sm west Texas town so not much there. Good local restaurant close to the Inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its a nice place surrounded by beautiful environment. Stopped here on the way to Big Bend, and the staff here was very warm and welcoming. Really loved the hospitality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The service was amazing! We checked in late at night and the clerk was super attentive and switched our rooms when he found out ours didnt have hot water. I would reccomend this place to anyone looking for just a quick shower and sleep while on the road to the next place!
- JOHN (8/5): Good overnight room! - Check on was very cool! Danny was the very cordial manager, gave us a nice assortment of snacks. The property is very old but well maintained. The room had an antique phone "nook" which tells you of the age. Room was very clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice staff - Nice gift at check in. Cool temperature in room. Friendly staff.
- Lowell (10/5): - The manager was extremely hospitable. Made the stay memorable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The proprietor waved me down as my GPS misdirected me a little further north than expected. As Sanderson doesn’t have a surplus of eaterys any more, it was nice to be presented a selection of snacks along with the room key.
- Ed (8/5): Wonderful people - The motel was shabby (the whole town is, though) but clean; the price was more than reasonable and completely adequate with really comfy beds. The management and staff were very very pleasant people so I will stay here any time I’m in the area instead of the newer motels. 😊 Thank You!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Old run down property - Old run down property everything is rigged and falling apart.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The best in town - More than adequate motel. Clean and tidy with very accomadating owners who couldn't be more helpful.
- Mauricio (2/5): Bad Service - Call to cancel reservetion and the GM didn't want to do it and understanding and hanging me up.
Just a bad exeriance.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Run Down - We stayed in Sanderson, TX because all the rooms in Fort Stockton were full. The pictures on the website are years old; so what you see isn’t necessarily what you get. That being said, the proprietor of the hotel was very nice, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
- tyler (10/5): Great Room - By far the coolest room my wife and I have ever stayed in. Cool funky colors!
It was also very clean and comfortable. Staff was very kind to us. We totally reccomend it to other travelers!
- Biglars (6/5): Older motel that need upgrading however the rooms - Check in was smooth. Manager friendly. Had to initially pay on extra 10 dlrs for dogs. This charge was not identified on website. In morning told me that he would give me a refund for the dogs. Again he was very cooperative and friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay and friendly staff - This is in the middle of nowhere in Southwest Texas and this hotel was the closest one to Big Bend we could book before Xmas. We are satisfied with the service and room. The staff is very friendly and we would come back again in the future.
- Likhi (8/5): Inexpensive Option for Big Bend Route - The hotel room was properly cleaned; the staff was friendly, accommodating, and responsive. Judging the hotel based on the cheap price, I think you get a decent value. The bed mattress I stayed on needs to be replaced since the support was not even across the length. The hotel is older so don't expect anything fancy. No bugs, only found one small spider in restroom. Since I'm not picky, I'd probably stay there again if passing through on a budget. Drive to Big Bend is 2 hours, the only town closer is Marathon.
- Dan (6/5): Close to nature - The motel is very old and has survived many renovations by people of different skill levels.
The room was comfortable enough and was clean. I did discover a few critters trying to get in out of the cold. A persistent fly, couple of spiders and a tiny baby lizard.
- Alex (10/5): Great place - Very comfortable bed, clean room. Very good value. It's hard to get back on the road, I just want to lay here all day. Haha. They give you a tray of cookies when you check in which I devoured.
- Bill (2/5): Get out before it's too late - The budget Inn in the town of Sanderson sucks. We went on to Alpine and the Hampton Inn and had a nice meal at gussy up
- Hillary (8/5): - Danny was very nice. They are pet friendly. Tell them first if you have a pet though, there's different rooms for pet owners to stay. The kids loved the snack tray. When we left he gave them a coloring book with crayons and a big book for them to read.
- Carlton (6/5): Small town motel. Don't have a lot of income. - Best the town has to offer. Danny is real nice but rooms old and not real clean. Plumbing hot and cold is backwards. Bed sheets where clean and checked for bed bugs and there was not any a plus.
- Roy & Florence (10/5): Would defiantly go back again. - My wife and I were greeted with a smile. The room was clean, slept comfortable, quite area, staff was very friendly, they went out of their way to make sure we always had what we needed. The view was wonderful of the tall hills and mountains. It was a wonderful experience driving to the Big Bend scenic and all of the surrounding cactus in Sanderson Tx. Thank you for your hospitality, Roy and Florence
- Steve (10/5): Don't overlook this hotel in Sanderson! - This (June 2017) was the second time my wife and I stayed at the Budget. Of course it is a small town and $55 a night, so it is not a luxury place. But our room could not have been any cleaner. The Manager, Danny, bends over backwards to be nice and helpful. He gave us a snack tray and brought cookies by each day.
- Bill (8/5): Excellent motel Manager - Sanderson, Texas is a very small town with limited services. The Budget Inn is an older facility without some of the perks of more modern motels. The Manager was super accommodating, even offering us a ride to the other side of town (we were biking across the country) and helping us with laundry. And the Wi-Fi worked very well.
- david (8/5): - comfy bed and friendly staff/owner, this inn was off the beaten track and the town was a bit quiet we had to walk a mile or so to a gas station for dinner, I think google was a bit out of date on places to eat in the area.
- Senior Traveler (8/5): Vintage exterior yet clean and comfortable room! - friendly and accommodating staff; clean well lit room, comfortable place to stay
great location to stay to or from Big Bend National Park
exterior is vintage motel appearance, but stay here anyway! room was just fine
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to Big Bend National Park - Relatively close to Big Bend National Park and economic. Don't expect much in the form of entertainment from the town.
- Ken (8/5): Decent hotel with slim pickings - When we pulled into this hotel we weren't too impressed, but it was prepaid and we were here. The owner was personable and quickly checked us in. he even offered some snacks and packaged doughnuts. The room we had turned out to be well furnished and comfortable. Internet worked well, and it is always nice to park right outside the room. Found a decent place to eat in town, again few choices here. But we had a good overall stay and were positioned less than 2 hours from the national Park. I would recommend this hotel.
- Travis (6/5): Disorganized, pick another town if possible. - Understand that Sanderson is a very small town and lodging choices are very limited. There are no nice hotels in this town. That being said, Budget Inn is ok at best. Mr Danny called me in the week leading up to our stay to confirm we wanted two rooms, which I did. I did not leave that conversation feeling confident everything would be ready for us when we got there. When we did arrive, he was walking across the property, and when he saw us arrive, told us he'd be there shortly. The lobby was locked, se we had to wait outside for about 15 mins before he came and unlocked the door and greeted us. Disorganized is the best word to describe his motel. He doesn't use a computer, he writes everything down in a spiral notebook. When I gave him my name, he looked through his book and couldn't find it. I reminded him we had talked on the phone a few days ago, he didn't remember. Eventually he figured out I had booked through a travel website and we were able to get the 2 rooms I had requested. However, he told me that he hadn't had a cleaning lady in 2 days and that he needed at least 30 mins to get our rooms ready. It was a Sunday evening in this itty bitty town with no restaurants. We sat at a gas station waiting for him to get things cleaned. That being said, the rooms are VERY dated, but they were clean and smelled clean. We slept pretty comfortably and were ready to continue on our trip to Big Bend in the morning. No snack tray as advertised either.
- dale (2/5): trip of nitemare - kton They didn' have my reservation when I got there. I was told I can drive to Fort Stockton
A 100 Miles away. I did find a room at the Osais, thankfully. This Hotel didn't care at all. Plus I couldn't understand the clerk. I will never stay there again.
- Danny (8/5): A perfect spot if not camping in Big Bend. - After hiking for miles in Big Bend this was a great place to relax at the end of the day.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Stayed in March 2017 on way to BigBend. Room was musty from leaky patched roof. Door bell on office needs fixing. Carpets were bad. No breakfast but friendly owner provided snack tray after arrival.
Won't be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall good - Old motel, could use new doors. Very clean, very comfortable rooms and bed. Very quiet. Very reasonable. I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff is really nice by providing snacks for breakfast, but motel condition is poor, A/C is noisy, have to turn it off. No blanket in winter, have to borrow one from staff.
- Jason (8/5): Friendly place to sleep and take a shower. - I stayed here with my family for one night on our way to Houston from Big Bend National Park. It got the job done. It is pretty run down with no bells or whistles but it was clean enough and the staff was really nice and friendly. We had a great check in experience. They even gave us a little tray of welcome snacks which was a nice, friendly touch. If you're looking for a place to sleep and take a shower, why not try Budget Inn.
- Dale (8/5): - It's not the Hilton, but for the price it was a great value.
- robert (6/5): Volkswalk - I went to Sanderson to do the Volkswalk and was greeted with very friendly staff and a clean room
- Jonathan (10/5): Perfect stay close to Big Bend - We had a perfect stay in this hotel. The host Danny is an amazing and very very kind person. He was so helpful and thoughtful. We will definitely go back if we come back to this area.
This is the best stop you can do while going to Big Bend NP.
- njk (6/5): A newer Motel 6 - It is a newer facility free wi-Fi, good handicap bathroom.
- Felix (10/5): Hotel Owner makes all the difference - Budget Inn Sanderson,TX is a great value. the Motel is a typical 1950s single story line-up of rooms and from the outside certainly not the Ritz. The rooms are clean and have fridge, microwave, and tv. Danny, the owner makes all the difference. He is friendly, helpful and makes you feel welcome from the first moment you show up at his place. I would stay there anytime I'm in the area
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good price for what you get! - The manager was very nice and room was clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very friendly and clean. - Overall motel was comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Room a little out dated but very clean and neat. Do recommend it.
- michael (10/5): RECOMMENDED! - I have stayed in many hotels. Danny, the manager is the most hospitable and friendly of them all! He went out of his way to make me feel comfortable, almost to the point of my embarrassment, lol. The room was perfect for my needs. I more than got my monies worth in my one day stay! It had been a long trip and this place was like a simple oasis.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - we got in around midnight. owner/mgr greeted us by name and gave us a snack tray. he was so helpful! we were expecting an old outdated motel and that about describes it. bed was large and comfy. definitely needs updating but it served its purpose and you can't complain with that price. we would definitely stay again :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stop on the way to Big Bend - Clean room, hot shower, soft bed, great service, fair price
- Shawn (4/5): Great service & a place to sleep. - Sanderson was a stop on a 7 day road trip through Big Bend. The owner was super friendly and service was excellent. However, the hotel needed some work. The shower didn't function well, there was no plug for the tub, the TV was sketchy at best, and the bed was probably original to the place. If we stay in Sanderson again, we will try one of the other options.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Was here for Snake Days - The staff was VERY friendly. They even gave me an entire tray of snacks when I checked in, and another one when I left. (I'm not sure if they do that with everyone or not, but it was a very nice gesture.)
The mattress was very comfortable and seemed like it was new. It was great to sleep on and that's what really matters most. The pillows seemed new as well. All the sheets and linens were very clean.
Besides all that, it's a very old motel and could use some re-finishing especially in the bathrooms. But hey, I was there to chase after reptiles and get sleep when I needed it.
- MICHAEL (10/5): Snakedays - Great motel great people
