Some staff were nice
Decent looking room
No smells! When I checked in they said it would be coffee from 5-10 but there was none. Certain staff was awful but other staff very pleasant. It was a dirty room in the corners but the bed was comfy. The shower looked scary but did the job! Lots of lurkers around the property that made it uncomfortable. It was hard to close the doors to the room, they would reopen after you closed them.

- Dotson (5/5): - Love that the property is dog friendly has doggy poop bags and trash area for the dogs poop The hotel did not have hot water and the room was not clean on good standard and the room was not dusted not dusted needs improvement badly
- Jessica (4/5): Good price, but you get what you pay for. - I like staying here because of the price and it’s super convenient to get to and from Chicago without Chicago prices. I’ve stayed here plenty of times over the past ten years. This stay was the only one where I was very disappointed. Our bathroom was literally falling apart. The shower curtain rod nearly came out of the wall just opening and closing the curtain. The shower head wasn’t really attached to the wall. A lot of the baseboards in the bathroom were gone, and at one point of it, there was a really big hole where the base covering should be. There were cigarette burns in the bedding. And our window was busted and patched back together with tape.

Floor is coming up from its tile , tub looks filthy, staff overstepped their duties! And management was rude and did nothing about it Staff was rude and a housekeeper was caught looking through my belongings and trying to ask my son personal questions!

- junaid (1/5): Hotel security is not good at all. While we were sleeping, around 5:00 AM, a street guy / junky person entered our r - Price Hotel security is not good at all. While we were sleeping, around 5:00 AM, a street guy drunk guy / junky person entered our room without knocking. We don’t know how he opened the room — maybe he had a secondary key or access from the hotel.
His intentions looked like theft. Luckily, we were awake and immediately kicked him out, otherwise anything could have happened.
This was a very scary and unacceptable experience. Hotel rooms are not secure, and management clearly failed in basic safety.
Very disappointed. Not recommended.

There was a man opening doors to open not sure I doubt he was a customer had his belongings on him. Overall bed was hard too I wouldn’t recommend honestly.

- Falon (1/5): great staff but rooms could be cleaner and shower should have worked. - Nothing the room was dirty and the shower was broken, they told me i had 10 mins to check the room out and see was it okay i did but later i discovered the shower was broken so i went to a friend house to shower the hallways was dirty and smelled bad the room was okay but the shower did not work. The front entrance smelled perfect so i thought the whole hotel would but it did not.

- Joshua (1/5): Refund for non-working facilities - I got a call after making the reservation that there wouldn't be any hot water and still am waiting for motel 6 to resolve on their end after being told they would cancel it and to do my part on booking.com. I've been waiting 2+ days. I don't see why people who ran into this type of occurrence shouldn't be treated fairly. It's the coldest time of the year and I refused to stay in a room without hot water. If it had been in the details, I would have never made the reservation. Had a similar issue with another hotel in merrillville and they resolved it swiftly . I'm not sure why I should be forced to take cold showers in negative degree weather or sacrifice my refund to not have to go through that.

- Crystal (4/5): Cheap for a reason - The tv, microwave and refrigerator were nice. The bathroom and bathtub are not at all like the pictures. The tub is flaking and felt like you were standing on flimsy plastic. And there was hardly enough water pressure to even shower. There was still food in the microwave from the people before me and the mini coffee maker lid almost melted because the boiling water wouldn’t flow to brew the coffee. The floors were nasty, the towels still felt dirty and the bed was hard and lumpy. Doors were slamming all night and the key cards barely worked. Also one of the shelves on the wall was ready to fall because it looked like the screws were just pushed into the drywall.
- Jeremy (6/5): - The price is really about it. I was in search of the cheapest price and Motel 6 was it. The thing that got me was weird, and there are two stories to share. When I got there, I was told I had to pay a $50 deposit and it had to be cash only. I told the guy been the counter that I don't have cash and he said I can use the ATM machine and I told I don't do ATMs because I won't pay an ATM service fee. I need to save as much money as I possible can and anything unnecessary won't be considered. He ended up giving me the room without having to pay the deposit which I appreciate. Then, a friend of mine was also staying at the same hotel because we were doing an event. He ended up with the same situation I did and he said that he didn't have fifty dollars either so the guy behind the counter asked "How much you got?" When he replied he had forty dollars then the guy said he would take that. I don't know, it just seemed kind of shady all around.

I stayed in room 208 and there were roaches and I have an 11 month old and I was scared she was gonna have one crawling on her. I had one crawl across the bed and up my back while I was trying to sleep. It looked like they were coming out of the walls in the bathroom cause we saw like 5-6 during the stay. And they didn't have the pool open

- LaChanta (10/5): - The location is in a great spot not far from the mall. It’s close to a lot of food as well. The bed was comfortable. The rooms are a great size. I have a great experience. It was nothing I did not like.

I really liked the layout of the room and the heat was very easy to set at a comfortable setting without a lot of adjustment. There was something wrong with the door latch or the door was catching on the door frame because it was very hard to get open without really shoving down on the handle and pushing hard on the door.

- Aaron (1/5): The room was totally appalling and disgusting - After looking at the room, the room was dirty. Paint was peeling from the walls. There was a hole in the wall next to the bed. There were dirty Q-tips on the boxspring or frame of the bed. The entire room was nasty as well as the common areas. Room was not cleaned but one time in the four nights I stayed there.

There was food on the walls a dirty towels thrown on the shelf. The toilet kept running the sink leaked when trying to wash hands.there wasn't very much water pressure in the shower

- Marie (1/5): Worst hotel ever. I had a pic of my socks that had accumulated so much animal hair, but I must’ve deleted it. - I liked how quiet it was. I did not like that they evicted me for no reason. All I asked was that the maid to stop nit picking with me. I reported the harassment and the discrimination that was being done against me. I am a black, disabled, single female. I noticed that customers that were Caucasian weren’t treated the same way. I was not able to rest, not the way I needed to. When I asked the manager why I had to leave she could not answer the question. She hung up on me when I asked. I had to call customer relations to report what was happening. I also believe management was retaliating against me, and also looking for a reason not to return the security deposit despite the app that I booked with guaranteed that the $60 security deposit be returned. I voice recorded a majority of what happened. There was pet fur all over me, all over my belongings. I took pictures showing how filthy the floor was, my socks were covered with dirt and animal fur. I did not bring any animals and I took pics of the room, showing the room was left as clean as possible. It isn’t right that the staff be rewarded for treating disabled customers this was.
- Marie (8/5): Over all, I liked the peacefulness and safety I felt being a customer. I will gladly recommend and use Motel 6 Merrillvi - I liked the property. It was clean on the outside. Some staff, not all, were friendly. I feel they should do a better job of cleaning. There was pet hair everywhere. My microwave had to be replaced because it was filthy and needed a plate. The new microwave was dirty, the inside roof of the microwave was filthy, with old, stuck on food. I did see a couple of roaches. A staff member lied to the manager as I was trying to get my finances together to extend my stay. Another, a housekeeper, was very rude, and nasty because I sat a trash bag in the hallway. I thought this was their practice. She was nasty, opening my door without my permission knowing I was inside and it was well after checking times. I did bring this issue to the manager and found out that if requested, the housekeepers are supposed to take the trash in the first place, so I didn’t understand why the housekeeper behaved the way that she did. The manager was professional and addressed the situation. Later, I saw the same housekeeper again and her attitude and willingness to be helpful to an me, an African American, disabled female had improved drastically.

- Marie (8/5): This is my first time visiting the motel and it’s been a beautiful stay. I definitely will suggest it to friends and fam - The cleanliness of the motel and the friendliness of the staff. It sets the tone for a good business. Friendly staff equals friendly customers. I love how peaceful it is as well. The only thing that kind of bothered me was the animal fur. I love animals! I miss having a pet, I def would have brought one with me if I had one, I do not at the moment. I learned how to keep my animals from shedding so much. I know there are ppl that don’t know how to do this. Not angry about it, I know it can be hard. That’s the only thing that I hope the motel doesn’t take offense to. Other than that, the stay has been great. Just the animal fur. It wasn’t a lot of it, I can tell the motel is working on how to improve that.
