- Paul (9/5): Good accommodation with good food, ideal for a couple days away. - Good food and very friendly and efficient staff N/A
- John (9/5): -
- Sue Fussell (9/5): Great overnight stay. - Our first stay here, and would definitely return. We loved the design and decor of the bedroom and bathroom. Useful desk plus coffee table and chairs were also fitted in.
Very quiet and secluded. We appreciated the special teas and coffees plus bottled water.
Proper glass glasses, large bath towels and an electric socket for the hairdryer near the mirror ticked all our 'must have' boxes! Nothing
- Claire (10/5): Didn’t want to leave! - Peaceful
Lovely scenery
Great food
Good value
Very comfortable beds
Fresh milk in the morning
Staff friendly
- Ann (8/5): Friendly staff, good food and a convenient location. - Convenient location to visit my family. It was also an old family haunt for many years. The noisy emptying of pub bottles into waste collection bins very early in the morning.
- Tobias (9/5): -
- vincent (10/5): Enjoyed the short stay. - Location and room were good.
Had dinner in the pub was good also. Not the facilities fault but one of the guests took up 2 parking spots had to park on general parking spot.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Mylan (8/5): - Good variety
- Tracy (10/5): - This was our 2nd visit to the Dartmoor Halfway Inn and once again we had a very relaxing overnight stay whilst visiting our daughter closeby. The pub was buzzing in the evening which was great. The food delicious & the staff very helpful and attentive. That we only had one night there haha
- Paul (10/5): Great value for money, rooms are finished to a high standqard. - Rooms were superb, very comfy, good wifi. Nothing not to like.
- Natalie (9/5): - Room comfy and not too noisy considering pub on main road. Food in the pub was good and staff all very pleasant. Dog friendly areas to eat dinner and breakfast. The road was very busy so we abandoned plans to walk from the pub and drove somewhere else for a dog walk.
- Paul (10/5): Food brilliant vey welcoming - Clean and comfortable Nothing

- Mark (10/5): Loved staying here and look forward to going back! - Staff really helpful and friendly. Rooms lovely and clean. breakfast was good quality.
- Sue (10/5): A beautiful place for a lovely stay. - The room was absolutely beautiful. It was in a little block on the back of the inn away from the road and away from any noise of the bar/restaurant. It was like being in a very fancy hotel. The quality of the fittings was excellent, the bathroom was lovely and the tea/coffee/biscuits/water supply was super. Everything was so well done.

- Josh (10/5): - Bob and the team were brilliant as always.
- Paul (8/5): Great place to stop - The bed was the most comfortable we have been in. Location was perfect for visiting family. Nothing really. Having breakfast included in the price would have made it perfect or even a discount for residents.
- Jerome (8/5): Great place to stay, friendly staff, convenient for us visiting family in Newton Abbot. - Good location, excellent staff, good room, comfy beds, good shower, secure parking behind the barrier next to the rooms. Needed a proper hoover as there were cobwebs between bedside cupboards and walls; and the tiles in bathroom were loose in front of toilet seat, and milk had to be collected from desk, or was left outside early morning on 2 of the 3 days missed the middle day, needed a small room fridge.
- louise (10/5): Excellent, great value for money - Excellent accommodation, comfy bed, really warm. Great stay. Staf were excellent too.
- Mark (10/5): We live fairly local to the place but just wanted a short getaway for the night. We will definitely be returning soon 👌 - Wonderful stay. Room was faultless. Would we go back and recommend to others oh definitely
- Lilburne (9/5): -
- Heather (6/5): Great pub, not a great stay - This is a great pub with great food, but definitely a poor stay. Facilities were a bit tired around the edges. Staff didn’t seem to take it very seriously when they came into my room whilst I was there 😱 Caused me great anxiety as a single traveller. No way of securing the room as just a basic night latch door lock. Neighbouring room occupant also spent most of the night screaming, so probably one of the worst nights I’ve spent in a long time.
- Kathryn (8/5): - The room was beautifully decorated and clean! Would definitely stay again Everything was brilliant until we were woken up early by staff pushing a bottle trolly and speaking very loud to each other. Then the cleaner actually opened our bedroom door when we were still in bed at 10.15am when we weren’t due to leave until 11. Apart from that our stay was impeccable.
- Vickie (10/5): -
- Caty (9/5): -
- Gary (9/5): Loved the food and the inn 👍🏻 - Lovely location and clean, great food in the evening and the breakfast , everything seems expensive these days but we enjoyed the stay The wife would of liked and outside seating at the accommodation

- Sarah (9/5): Lovely accommodation at this pub - Ideal location - great accommodation and good food in the pub fir evening meal. A little noisy from traffic passing but didn’t stop me from sleeping well
- Josh (10/5): Another lovely stay here - Stayed before and will continue to stay here. Lovely staff who go above and beyond. Room is cozy, especially in winter. It has everything you need. Nothing.

- Jo (9/5): Great location - The location was perfect
The room was tastefully decorated and everything you needed
The breakfast was very nice
Free parking Our room was extremely hot. We turned both radiators off. But still very warm
Breakfast was a long wait. It would have be nice if it was communicated so we could have made a decision to go somewhere else. But when it arrived it was beautiful and fresh
- Paul (10/5): Welcome back ! - New Manager Mike was very welcoming .look fwd to returning in 2026. All good.
- martin (9/5): - We had a lovely clean room, staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious, overall very nice 3 nights at the halfway inn Just one tiny criticism, the shower in our room could have done with a bit more power, that's it
- Katherine Hopper (8/5): Pleasant stay - Did not have breakfast Room was cold when we arrived but soon warmed up Lamb cutlet special in restaurant was extremely good
- stewart (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly efficient and helpful staff. Premises ideally locatated for various destinations. There was nothing to dislike.
- Namith (8/5): -

Would definitely stay again.
- Samantha (9/5): - Fantastic place. Lovely rooms, great food and friendly staff. Warm and cosy feel. Nothing
- Ali (10/5): Excellent - I didn’t stay for breakfast N/A
- Philip (10/5): - Lovely campsite and great goons on-site too . Staff excellent 👌
- David (9/5): Exceptional Pub Hospitality - By 'Stay at a pub' standards it was exceptional.
Spotlessly clean, superbly comfortable bed with Brixham fish and Devon Venison for dinner Technicals! Neither Wi Fi on-site addresses were connectable. TV zapper was on the blink. But who cares when all else is so good.
- Donna (10/5): Great, comfortable stay. - Lovely room, very comfortable and private away from the main pub. Huge bed and fresh milk delivered in the morning! Ordered an evening meal in the pub and took it back to the room, staff were very accomodating. Very small niggle, we were woken up quite early by what sounded like a trolley or wheelie bin being pulled around
- Sarah (9/5): Great stay will definitely return - Perfect location for me & my husband
Great restaurant & pub
Dinner & breakfast was really good
Comfortable room everything you’d need
Definitely recommend Nothing to dislike
- Marsha (10/5): - Friendly staff

- Jane (10/5): Pristine beautiful room at a perfect location. - Quiet spacious extremely comfortable room and bed. Beautiful decor. I loved it was so beautifully designed but was sooo comfortable. Nothing not to love!
- Vickie (10/5): -
- Duncan (5/5): - Perfect place apart from the green fire light, awake from 3am The fire light, too bright, ruined my night
- Lesley Anne (10/5): -
- Chris (8/5): - A small fridge would of increased my score. A bit expensive when away from the coast.
- Melissa (9/5): Such a lovely place but.................................... - We've stayed here twice before. Once in one of the rooms and once in our caravan on the campsite and both previous stays have been fantastic. This year we opted to stay in a room again and friends of ours came to join us and stayed in their camper van on our recommendation. The facilities, location, cleanliness and pub food (the portions are huge and very reasonable priced) were all above expectation. This time our room was as expected and everything was top notch. The staff will go over and above to accommodate you and cant do enough for you. With the weather being so hot the room was boiling and no fans are supplied so we had to have the windows open day and night to try and cool the room down.
Unfortunately on this occasion, there were a few caravans full of undesirable people staying on the campsite that had no consideration for anyone else staying on the site or in the rooms. They allowed their children to run riot all around the campsite and up to the pub garden/decking. These children were charging around shouting on the Saturday evening until approx 2am and again on the Sunday night until approx 2.45am! So inconsiderate and even more so when everyone has to have all their windows open! We were not the only people who were not happy as other guests (both campers & room occupants) were voicing their opinions over breakfast each morning and while chatting walking our dogs in the dog field areas. We did tell a young girl on check out what had happened, but because the Manager wasn't around she was totally out of her depth and didn't even offer an apology. We thought we had found a place that we would visit every year, but this years experience has completely changed our mind. If this business continues to allow these sort of people to pitch their caravans on the site, their business will seriously suffer as we are just one couple out of many that will not return next year.

- David (9/5): Great stay and way better than we had hoped - thanks to the staff. - I was a little unsure abut this place before we arrived but Boy! was I wrong,
The highlight of the Dartmoor Halfway Inn was undoubtably the staff. Unfailingly helpful and certainly cheerful at all times, this was the most service minded bunch we had met.
We really liked this place. Breakfast, dinner, the beer garden were all great and the location close to the main artery through Devon allows trips out without hassle.
The room was basic, but had everything we needed.
This place we would definitely go back to - and recommend to others. No adverse comment.
- Nigel Tully (10/5): Well located for access to Dartmoor and Coast attractions. - Well presented room with friendly staff.
Provides an excellent cooked breakfast and large choice for evening meals.
- Melanie (7/5): Overall very good will definitely stay again. - The girl that welcomed us, took my. Mobility impairment into account when showing us the room. 10 out of 10 for her and all the waiting staff were so friendly and polite. Food very good. Great spacious shower. People sitting literally outside the window and noisy (not their fault). No non slip mat in the shower which I needed due to mobility.
- Steve (8/5): Very good - The room was nice, it was clean and had access directly from outside, which was good for us because we had a dog with us.
The staff were really pleasant and helpful A small bottle of milk was deposited outside the room each morning, however there is no fridge and so it wasn't possible to keep it cold. It was possible to get more milk from the pub.
The small bottle of complimentary shampoo wasn't replaced, we stayed for 3 nights and so that wasn't really enough. The complimentary biscuits weren't replenished consistently.
- Karen (8/5): Overall was very happy with my stay and would come again, made my dogs welcome too - Clean comfortable accommodation and friendly staff Could sometimes smell sewage from the bin area which was by my room
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jones (10/5): Perfect stay! Amazing food & stunning rooms. - Stunning accommodation. Great restaurant & lovely staff.
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb -
- Mandy (7/5): Good stopover on the way to Cornwall - Room was spacious and in a separate building to the pub. Although situated on a main road the noise was minimal once in the room. The staff in the evening, they were polite but customer service was poor. However, the girls serving breakfast were lovely and could teach the evening staff a thing or two.
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Henry (10/5): Nice accommodation, great staff, good food -
- Susan (7/5): A little gesture ( see breakfasts) would go a long way towards customer satisfaction. It’s the little things like the br - Nice location, staff very efficient and friendly. Room very clean and well-furnished. Breakfast was a problem. No option to include breakfast in a room rate. Breakfasts were very expensive and no cereal / continental option. If you wanted coffee with your breakfast it cost £3.80 for a small cup! Not even a complimentary fruit juice!
- David (7/5): Good -
- Alexa (9/5): We have been twice. Brilliant experience ! -
- Denise (9/5): Great. - The room is very nice and located so you can’t hear the traffic on a busy road. The shower is very good pressure wise but not enough hot water to have 2 showers in a row. Love the quirkiness and the fresh milk delivered each morning, great. The towels are really nice, very clean and soft. The paintwork in the room is quite tired. The bedding could do with updating, although clean it’s looking old and a bit frayed. The full breakfast was very tasty but a little mean on portions. The bread for toast is of a poor quality and thinly sliced. We love our thick homemade toast.
- Nicola (7/5): Locations ok. Staff are friendly. Rooms ok but over priced in my opinion. Food was ok pub grub. - Staff were friendly. Room was ok but the TV didn’t work. It would have been better if we could have parked in front of the room, if only to unload our bags. Pooring with rain, so by the time we’d got our luggage from the car we were all soaking, including our dog.
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional -
