Guest Reviews
- Nancy (5/5): -
- Edwin (1/5): - They need to remove the carpet in the rooms and outside or clean it. Rooms are dusty and hotel needs a lot of maintenance
- Mohammed Asid (7/5): -
- Jai (3/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Pool and restaurant and bar was good Expensive, wifi didn’t work in the room. Only 2 channels on the cable tv.
Would only exchange limited foreign currency. As in only 50 and 100 bills
Took forever to do anything at reception
- Mike (7/5): - Good Location and Super staff . The late night music
- Rudolph (4/5): Worth the price and lactation - A resort with many different activities depending on the day of the week. Good restaurant. Walking distance to many stores and an excellent food source cheap just 5 minutes walk to the right side of the hotel when facing the road. Pool is goog and hum is good. No Wi-Fi on the rooms
- Gizelle (10/5): -
- David (8/5): - Could have done with not being near the band on Friday night
- Mele (7/5): -
- Rosemary (6/5): We stayed there for the location near the university, but I might try a different hotel next time - Staff pleasant
Bed comfortable
lovely view from outside of hotel to river
restaurant good and restaurant service very helpful
Air conditioning in the bedroom was very good Noisy. do not stay in a room near the pool or the because it’ll be noise till 2 am. The other side has road noise but that’s not as bad. Even the staff were noisy (I think it was the staff) in the corridor about 10:20 pm when they were trying to mop up something.
Bet
No tea bags at all
- john (6/5): Noisy! - Ok facilities Cant understand why they need to have the music blaring from the outdoor bar every night even if there are only 2 people there.. good luck trying to sleep.. take your earplugs!!
- Patrina (4/5): - Location to where I needed to be Very noisy
Had to pay for drinking water
- Jemaia (10/5): -
- Sokimi (10/5): Overall, my stay was enjoyable. Friendly staff and clean rooms. - No complimentary breakfast. Noisy bar goers. Making too much noise after bar closes. Loud drunken arguments in the car park.
- Gizelle (8/5): -
- Gizelle (8/5): -
- Waige (8/5): - Nice hotel and outstanding place to stay I like everything
- Salanieta (7/5): -
- Meenakshi (5/5): Comfortable but challenging stay - The staff were kind and considerate and professional. The vegetarian food options were limited
They charge even for coffee in the room which seems a rip off. Unlike other hotels they don’t give you a daily quota of a bottle of water. You have to buy it: most importantly there is a venue next door owned by the same management that plays loud music during weekdays till 12 and then on weekends till 2 am. The rooms don’t have sound option doors and if you are travelling on work, sleep is impossible.
- July (8/5): The 7 days at PCH - The peace and the food Some noise from the back
- Jai (5/5): -
- Shalom (7/5): -
- Gizelle (6/5): -
- Maybelle (9/5): Friendly staff. Quite over priced - Service/staff Error in booking upon check in, over charged then had to moved room.
- David (2/5): Staff were very pleasant but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! - I had the breakfast only once and it was fine. Chinese food was reasonable. Location was good for my purpose. Staff were very nice and helpful. This is not a 3 star hotel!!!! Even the local taxi drivers refer to it as "The Nightclub". It is way too noisy. Music outside (and very loud) to which many rooms face starts at 4pm everyday and goes onto 10pm - 12pm depending on the night but then they allow pool to be played for another hour or two which creates just about the same level of noise.
On two days water in the hotel stopped completely. No water pressure at all. One other day pressure was so weak you couldn't have a shower.
- John (2/5): Avoid - for the money we paid it was definitely poor value and there would be much better choices elsewhere in Honiara - The staff were helpful- especially when ordering a taxi. The bathroom was full of mould.
The air conditioning in one room didn’t work and barely worked in the bedroom
The lights in the room were broken
Dirty food plates sat on the walkway outside the neighbouring room for three days without being collected
Furniture was old dingy collapsed and poor.
Food was less than average
Pool was like a soup
Noise from music very loud
I’m not sure where they got the three star rating from, but this is generous
By comparison we went to 2 other three star hotels for dinner and drinks and the facilities, food, conditions and overall presentation of these was significantly better - I would stay at either the heritage hotel or Mendana Hotel
- Hussain (7/5): -
- Alrina (6/5): Was ok for the price - Ok no issues Noisy
- RICHARD (5/5): - In house restaurant. Sound insulation poor. Noise from various sources. A bit industrial. Air conditioning difficult to get right. No selection of tea/coffee in room. Shower sometimes hot, sometimes just cold.
- Varjabedian (5/5): - It was was clean. It was laid out more like a motel.
- Omer (8/5): Very good -
- Rudd (8/5): Very good -
- Martina (5/5): Passable -
- Tomwa (6/5): Pleasant - Booking.com charges $400+ additional to the amount that the hotel billed us for the duration of our stay. Though the facility is tired, the cleaning and maintenance were not on the bar to compensate the condition. It has a public bar that allows anyone. This poses and risks safety to guests.
- Madeline (7/5): Good -
- Ray (7/5): Good - Convenient to the airport. The aircon barely worked.
- Murphy (4/5): Ok - Closer to the airport. Restaurant. Pool. Seaview. Wifi. Very noisy. Noise disturbed my sleep.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Ingintau (8/5): Very good -
- Trigg (10/5): Wonderful Hotel - The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was great! Staff were friendly and welcoming. The outside of the building lacks curb appeal, but the hotel is great and backs up to the water. Definitely recommended
- Jan-christoph (4/5): Disappointing - First impression like arrived in jail🤣
- Paraniala (7/5): Good -
- Naomi (7/5): It was a short but pleasant stay - I was given a upgraded room even though all rooms were booked out Room service to be offered.
- David (9/5): I will be back to stay again😀 - Breakfast was great everyday I was there Nothing
- Henson (10/5): Exceptional - Its confortable and self which excellent clean and tidy Nothing
- Luialamo (1/5): Bad - Nothing My online booking with Bookings.com was confirmed and then when I contacted the hotel they said no availability of the type rooms I requested. I asked for what was available, a second option. There was no reply until now. Very bad indeed.
- Pamela (9/5): Relaxing, exciting, great value and so much fun! - I have visited Honiara many times and this is my hotel of choice. It is perfect for a longer stay away from dust and hustle of downtown Honiara. The staff are welcoming, attentive and incredibly friendly. Security is second to none. A great pool area, well equipped gym, fantastic bar with quality entertainment and a decent restaurant. I find that the local flavour and genuine affection for the work of the staff is so preferable to the more formal and stuffy atmosphere of the some of the more 'up-market' options in town. It has a relaxing and comfortable vibe, and sometimes you need that in Honiara.
It is also a perfect place to meet friends and colleagues as it has such a large outdoor footprint and plenty of quiet places with beautiful seaside views and breezes. It welcomes visitors and for a small fee, your friends and children can use the pool and the gym or do a Zumba class.
I enjoyed every minute of my stay. I would highly recommend it. I noticed that the restaurant menu is a little less varied and some of my old favourites have disappeared. Please bring back the beef burger with bacon, egg and cheese! However, the addition of local motu on Thursday nights is a bonus as well as the Malaysian options.
- Pamela (9/5): Great local hospitality and outstanding value for Honiara. - The staff are wonderful. From the concierge, to the front desk and the bar and restaurant staff. All went out of their way to be helpful and delightful. The bar and the entertainment is the best in Honiara. Meals were good. The location is out of the dusty CBD but everything is accessible with a short bus or taxi ride. The Canoe Bar was closed on Sunday so if that is your only day, you may be a bit disappointed. However, the restaurant bar is open.
- Albert (7/5): loved the stay. nice vibes at the hotel and in the capital in general. - Nice restaurant. especially the outdoor corridor. friendly staff. food was good and affordable. rooms was nice and clean and comfortable. professionally run. coffee. range of beverages. could use a freshen up. New paint etc.
- Lesi (10/5): Loved my stay and would recommend to visitors to the country! - The housekeeping team were just lovely and accommodated our requests, the front desk team was always helpful, and the team at the restaurant was also great, everyone was just friendly and vey helpful! Oh and yes the food at the restaurant was excellent!! There was really nothing to dislike, we enjoyed 5 days stays PCH!
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Jonatas (5/5): Ok but unlikely to return to this location the Mendana is much better - They left me waiting for pick up at the airport so i had to get a taxi myself as they forgot.
It is a noisy place and the bed was hard i had back pain.
- Jang (8/5): Very good -
- William (8/5): Comfortable, well-attended, with great hospitality, making it a pleasant stay ground floor up. - The overall experience was both comfortable and enjoyable, aligning well with the expectations I hold for Honiara. PCH is, for me, a staple of familiarity whenever I find myself in Honiara, serving as a go-to roof and place amidst the slow hustle of Honiara. Enjoyed the attention to detail, particularly in the way my stay was handled. The staff demonstrated a notable level of care. They were friendly and attentive, qualities that I regard as essential to any service-oriented establishment. I find this appealing which can, for the most part, stand against any shortcoming. Stability and trust are key elements in fostering loyalty to a place. Thanks indeed. Not so much a dislike, but rather a constructive suggestion: check-ins are hectic even with fairly solvable access offered. The disarray at times during check-in can be fixed through better solutions-oriented thinking around mild or hot dilemmas. Flow of organisation within the check-in process has potential to grow. I'd rather respond in person to areas of improvement rather than write about it.
- Sunil (4/5): Staff are good but manager was not respectful and she needs to learn - Food Behaviour of the lady manager
- Amy (9/5): Nice and fun location to stay - Location close to town and a clean room ???
- Brian (5/5): Except for the noise, all other aspects of this hotel is good. - Hotel is good. Service is excellent. People are friendly. Restaurant is excellent Every night there are very noisy parties. Very difficult to sleep before 11pm.
- Jose (7/5): Good -
- Raubani (7/5): Good - I liked that they had 24hr check in time. Also the beds were very comfortable. I didn't like that my room was near the parking lot.
- Ross (5/5): Passable -
- Naomi (8/5): Very good -
- Naivananiwaqatabu (9/5): It was a really good experience. - I liked the service and the friendly staff. Everyone was very welcoming. N/A
- Angie (5/5): Passable - No breakfast was provided. I ordered breakfast/dinner and waited for 40 minutes
- Kylie (9/5): Great place to stay - Good facilities and the staff were kind and helpful. Loved joining in Zumba too. Noisy at night with live music some nights, no problem though as I have noise cancelling headphones
- Ward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (7/5): Good -
- Livaken (8/5): perfect - Exellent nothing
- Toby (4/5): Could be better in terms of facilities and service - Good location. Aircon doesnt work. Bathroom could be better with done up nicely facilities in the room. Bar fridge was placed awkwardly for reach. Privacy is an issue if you want to let some sunlight in.
- Brian (3/5): Not worth the cost. Stay at a better location closer in town and don't give your money to the owner - The PCH staff said that Booking.com does not transfer money to them and charged me $30/night more than the quoted rate. The hotel was moldy and didn't smell clean the rooms were not clean and the staff was not friendly.
- Sabumei (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (3/5): For $250 Australian a night this was a poor hotel - The staff were nice, security nice people. There was no hot water at all, they held a concert at hotel and this meant that people partied in hallways all night, my wife was touched by a guest at the concert, the foyer and grounds were rubbish filled still next morning.
- Liu (7/5): Good - nice staff,
Good place for fishing in backyard of hotel
Facility little old but still acceptable
- Daniella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ms. (10/5): Be nice to have more plant based food. - It has gym and a pool. Good view and love the outdoor settings. Very relaxing Should have update eftpos machines at the pool area.
- Bridget (7/5): Good - Hot water, bath tub
- Ben (5/5): Mixed Bag - The suites were great, with big bedroom area and a nice desk. Big lounge area and big bathroom as well - with lots of storage space. Good internet and friendly staff. Nice pool and gym and plenty of food/drink options available directly at hotel and part of larger compound. Check in and check out experience was a nightmare. At check in, paid for our two rooms and then went to our rooms. We had booked sea view rooms with a balcony and were given car park view with no balcony. Thankfully they put us in rooms (believe upgraded to suites with Seaview and balcony) but it again went wrong at check out. We had to pay extra, and they just charge the rate for the room and believe charged rate for suite, not the room we booked (as they insisted, we requested the change - yes because put us in the wrong room) and also said the 10% genius discount entitled to, was already in the rate (when it wasn't). Had to give up arguing or risk missing flight but will follow up with booking.com.
The bed was terribly uncomfortable, gave me a bad back. The fridge wasn't even cold, and the hot water was a day-by-day proposition. I also had a broken tap that was never fixed (despite letting reception know daily). Some days I got new toiletries and other days I did not. Was quite expensive as well. Need car or taxi to go anywhere, close(ish) to town and not too far from airport and sporting facilities (which is reason for our stay).
It is loud. We had a wedding going until 5am on the night we arrived and a party every night to the early hours (being Football World Cup might not have helped).
- Karl (5/5): Passable -
- Paul (3/5): Poor -
- Stacey (6/5): Honest review - View of water
Pool
Shop at foyer
Security - help with theft of bag by person allow on property
Local to everything
Lots of people to talk to- play pool, darts or do gym or zumba - lots happening- bands etc No up to date brochures or compendium for tourism in room for travellers
No help by reception booking tours, guides, drivers
Hole in door - ppl can see in- small cockeroaches - yuk saw 2 near bedside table
Had to get safe opened as was locked- had flickering light and no tour of resort-basically work it out yourself- was put in wrong room - then got charged more
Reception staff happy/nice but- processes lacking- I had to keep on top of it all- give card back and ask for imprint of credit card back
Loud music every night - poolside room
Not a lot of choice in cocktails- didn't have dark rum and wouldn't use Bundy or JD as whiskey
Not a lot of choice food- dinner, breakfast or room service- basic junkfood
Restaurant forgot to even bring dinner- gave up went to room after hour and said deliver it-
Weird things with housekeeping- earplug missing first time- then never took breakfast tray then one earing missing-
Pillows need to be more and fluffy and a blanket
Was reasonable hotel- lot of walking up stairs and hallways- no lifts and new wifi code everyday annoying as should be for whole stay- more walking to get as Reception would not give to other staff to give to me- was hardwork- to me a holiday should be relaxing- easy and massage available in room if want it - spa would improve experience- was ok
- Titilola (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mumba (7/5): Good -
- Mumba (7/5): Good -
- Hiroaki (5/5): Passable - I like the pool The staff charged me for internet which was incorrect then refused to discount it off my bill.
It was VERY noisy due to the karaoke across the road late into the night -
- Luke (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tonia (10/5): - All seems to be ok
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very convenient location for the airport, very friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms are large and reasonably comfortable. Only downside is that you have to pay for wifi!
- Stefan (4/5): - No Wifi, cheap, not clean rooms that still cost 100. Not a good option. Hopefully better exist in Honiara.
- Julienne (2/5): - Wifi connection is not good and they only allow one device per booking, so you have to pay for the additional device. Overall facilities are really old and needs renovation/refurbishing. There’s no complimentary water. No hair dryer in the room and you have to ask for it. One time they forgot to clean my room. Sometimes the keycard is not working so I had to go back to the lobby and get it fixed. I got a room with a seaview but there’s a ongoing construction so view was ruined. Staff overall are very laidback and not very attentive.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Place was in need of a lot of maintenance. Restaurant was ok but rooms had flaking paint , broken tiles etc. I checked out early & went somewhere else. Then this place got locked up because of the riot that occurred there so glad I moved out.
Staff couldn't help with basic enquiries & the "casino" was a joke.
Stay somewhere else.
- ian (6/5): Short hop only - do not stay too long - Not what it looks like on the site. Quite run down place to be honest. Building work taking place. On the coast, but limited access to it. OK for an overnight stay prior to another move which is what we booked for. Good restaurant though and food very good. WiFi good but you have to pay for it, albeit not a lot. Friendly staff and not too far from Honiara airport.
- Henri (6/5): OK place to stay - The staff is very friendly and I appreciate the option to be able to book airport pick up (50 SBD) to have safe transportation. There is no free internet even in the lobby (unlike stated on website) and the internet for 24 hours is 100 SBD, not that cheap. Honiara does not have huge amount of hotel options, so I guess this is ok, but would not pay 100 USD for this kind of room in regular Asian destinations. Anyway, I know Solomon Islands is not cheap, so locally price is ok.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - staff are great, restaurant is very nice and clean but rooms are terrible and not value for money in any respect.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel is in an ideal location. Quite disappointed with how my booking wasn’t in the hotel system when I checked in.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful place. Avoid it - This hotel is a dive. Do not stay here. Not worth the money. Not a nice place. Poorly kept.
- Lindsey (6/5): - Run down, but clean and friendly. Larger room than I expected. Had separate lounge which was useful.
- TravelinAlan (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay there. Location not the best for my needs.
- Joredie (6/5): - There's no wifi in the room
- Matthew (8/5): Good hotel in Honiara. Wifi description misleading - I felt that this was one of the better hotels in Honiara.
Room was clean with powerful air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and there was a decent desk to work from. The food and coffee was nice, especially in the Garden Bar. The room service was good.
The hotel offers a discounted shuttle to the airport that is cheaper than a taxi, so be sure to book this.
My main criticism would be the misrepresentation of the wifi here. It says on Hotels.com that there is free wifi in your hotel room but this is simply not true. There is no wifi access in the hotel lobby either. The only way to access to the internet is to go and sit in the Garden Bar and use the wifi there. It was a little awkward sitting in a bar/restaurant and not buying anything, just so I could use the wifi.
Overall I would happily stay again.
- Jeff (8/5): Good Base for visiting Honiara - Nice place to base yourself for your stay on Guadalcanal. About 3km out of Honiara - a bit far to walk; but the Hotel has a car hire office on site and you should get one anyway to see the island.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel under reconstruction - Upsides - food, gym, staff & pool
Downsides - under massive rebuild, building dust from rebuild and road construction, filthy carpet and walls in hall way, quality of construction and finish
Paid extra for ocean view room only to get view of a construction site. Fire alarm went off (no reaction by staff) and water switched off without notification (just happened during shower)
