Bref on reviendra 👍 rien .

- sue (10/5): - Great location with easy walk into town. Lovely pool area.
- Makoto (6/5): Very friendly staff but tha facility not worth the price at all. - Very good location. Not far from downtown but quiet and segregated. The room was shockingly small.
- Jean-Luc (9/5): -
- Rika (9/5): - Very relaxing cute boutique hotel in walking distance to the main part of Luang Prabang.
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional customer service and facilities highly recommend. - The location was great only a short walk into the main town. Great restaurant and lovely garden area with lake. Facilities included gym, outdoor pool and spa . The crowning glory was the staff all so friendly and welcoming couldn’t praise them enough. Thanks to Lou (front desk Manager) for all his help and advice. Nothing negative about the Sanctuary all very positive.
- Janet (10/5): A very comfortable stay - Hotel was very well situated with a nice green space and shaded seating areas. Very good breakfast and staff were very friendly.
- Carolyn (9/5): Lovely hotel - Great boutique hotel. Fantastic breakfast.
- claire (8/5): -
- Sasha (9/5): - Great staff who went above and beyond to help us. Hotel is a secret oasis of calm with a great pool and tasty breakfast
- Andreas (8/5): Great personnel, nice touches throughout the hotel and very good breakfast - good choices and high quality. - Spacious, mostly quiet, nice mix of green and small buildings. Because it’s a wooden structure, the guests above us on the last morning woke us up by just walking up and down stairs or moving chairs around.
- Brooke (10/5): - breakfast was perfect, staff was so friendly and helpful, the app to talk to the concierge is great, overall a lovely experience! nothing! we loved our stay!
- Liz (9/5): Beautiful oasis in the hub bub of Luang Prabang. - Quiet, centrally located, clean, beautiful, excellent breakfast!
- Kévin Kasprzak (9/5): -
- brian (10/5): Loved this place - Location, staff, rooms, pool area, great breakfast, good coffee, well equipped gym with a/c Nothing
- Marielle (10/5): Allerbeste ontbijtje! Alles dik in orde.

- Deborah (10/5): Highly recommend - Everything especially the personnel

- Ian (10/5): - Hotel is under renovation so there is some noise near the pool area.
- J6130SLmattd (2/5): Unfortunately not impressed with - Due to no fault of our own the train was cancelled from Vientiane. The hotel could not give a refund or let us cancel.
So I believe travels should NOT book this hotel in advance, rather wait until you get to the district - I’m guessing this is not the issue during the peak season - but for those traveling off peak when it’s the rainy season - do not book in advance
- rob (10/5): -
- Vyrath (10/5): -
- Guro (9/5): -
- Frank (10/5): Overall, it was a wonderful stay. - The room is very quiet and private, despite being located in a crowded area. The walk to the room is not convenient, especially with the roller luggage, because the path is cobblestones and not cement.
- Jen (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at The sanctuary.
We were upgraded to a suite and the room was perfect with traditional style wood throughout.
The breakfast was so good, a great choice and good coffee with lots to choose from.
The pool was a lovely place to cool off after a hot day sight seeing and I can recommend a visit to their spa for a massage and facial .
Lastly the staff are so tentative, kind and more than happy to help with anything you require.
We booked for 5 nights and could have stayed longer, we will book back in on our way through luang next week.
Thank you
- Frederwin (10/5): Best in town! - An oasis behind a busy-ish Luang Probang street. Spacious. Calm. Exceptional kind and genuine service. Affordable too and fabulous breakfasts. A pool and massages if you choose. A very special thank you to Noy who was smiling, chatty and curious. Thank you Noy. Best place we stayed in Laos.

- KAKEMC (6/5): Great location, Far from Luxury - This hotel was my big splurge in Luang Prabang. After a few days of trekking, my husband and I wanted a relaxing stay where we would stay in the hotel and use the facilities rather than sightseeing. I wanted to love this stay so much!
We were put in the room above the reception desk with the creakiest floors on the planet. Every move we made was over the heads of the main area where people were coming and going. Every toilet flush and every movement in our room felt like it was being registered by anyone working downstairs. It felt really invasive. I am assuming people who had rooms on the grounds would have had a much better experience.
The pool area was in the corner at the far edge of the property, and while it was nice to have a pool, it looked nothing like the pictures. I had a massage at the Sanctuary and enjoyed that very much.
The breakfast had so much potential but failed to meet expectations. The "hot" breakfast was cold with no effort to even pretend it was being warmed. There simply was nothing warming the chafing dishes. There is no coffee or tea area, so you have to wait until someone comes, but nobody does. We had to stand at the counter and wait for a server to return and ask them for a cup. When I finally got a cup of tea, it was cold. One positive was the woman making chicken soup and eggs. Both were excellent.
I really did want to love this place. I did not speak to management while I was there because I just didn't have it in me to take it on as I was exhausted. I just wanted to relax and enjoy what I could. The staff at the reception were friendly enough and organized our transport to the airport the next morning. Maybe if I had not paid so much, I would not have been as disappointed. I paid a lot less at other hotels and had a better experience. Cost does not equal quality.
- lpk325 (10/5): Right in the heart of Luang Prabang - The sanctuary lives up to its name with an exceptional staff that made my stay very comfortable and very welcome. Anything I needed, I could ask them and they would try to accommodate . My room was beautiful. While I was not able to use the amenities because I was out the whole day, I did see many of the guests enjoying them. While the breakfast selection was not wide, it is pretty good and served its purpose. The restaurant menu is short but offered good choices. I enjoyed the free nightly screening of a 1927 movie from Laos, which brought in people from outside as well. Everybody, I've talked to who stayed here only have the kindest things to say about the hotel and service. The hotel is also walking distance to most everything as it is in the center of the city, from the night market, to the grocery to the main road lined with french colonial establishments, temples to museums to the post office, to ATMs, and anything basic you would need.
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonardo (10/5): Truly an Amazing Sanctuary - Amazing stay. I was well attended throughout. Yai and John and Lou and Non were all so accommodating. I felt like a very special guest
- Swindlehurst (10/5): Exceptional -
- Khb2dd (2/5): Do NOT BOOK Deluxe UNESCO room - My husband and I are very experienced international travelers. We travel to multiple international countries, several times a year. We booked this hotel due to location, having a pool and the reviews. However, once we arrived, it was all downhill from there. They have a gravel entrance way to the registration desk and not easy when rolling your luggage and no one there to assist you. Once we arrived and checked in, they took us up a few stairs to a room above the reception desk!!! I was SHOCKED! I tried to get another room but they were sold out, which is understandable but let us leave and give us our money. This room is NOT located on the property like the other rooms. Therefore, our experience is different than those that actually got to stay on the property. The room was incredibly noisy you could hear all the workers and everyone checking in and out. It was very loud. If we can hear them, they can hear us. There goes any privacy, sense of security or feeling of romance with your partner. They must have used the room across from us as a staff room as the door was constantly being slammed open and shut and you could hear staff all night. It was extremely loud also due to street noise and impossible to sleep. Once we checked in and saw the condition of the room we immediately asked to check out and get a refund so we could go somewhere else. I understand that the room was non refundable when booked but come on, this room was NOT as described. The manager said this is not an oversight on their part but uh yeah it is you need to describe the room properly and say that this room is located in the reservation area and not on the property grounds like the other rooms. No way we would have booked this. In all my experiences all other hotels have been very accommodating even though the room may say non cancellable or non refundable at time of booking. We even involved Expedia to try to help us to no avail. We decided to wait it out 1 night and it was just horrible. We went to breakfast the next day and could get no service after waiting for more than 30 minutes. Everyone around us was getting waited on so no reason we were being ignored. I even stood at the counter and tried to interact with several employees to get service and blatantly ignored. We were so frustrated as we got free breakfast as part of the expensive price we paid for this room. It was not that busy that we could not get service, the staff was literally walking past us to help other people who sat down AFTER US.
We complained to the manager who was rude and for them to respond to our complaints saying we should have brought this up during our stay or saying that they were not made aware of issues is a LIE. I HAVE THE EMAIL. The manager stated they are surprised to hear our comments as the staff regularly interacted with us during our stay. Um FALSE. Even though our room was steps away from reception we were NEVER ONCE greeted by the desk staff at all when coming or going over the few days we stayed. The only reason we got service was I had to go up there and stand there while they stared at me and then I asked for help. I will acknowledge that they did book us on a sunset cruise which was awesome. They stated that they did not have a hotel car so they would get us a ride to the sunset cruise but beware it isnt complimentary like other hotels, you have to pay. The manager said we should have stated our concerns while we stayed so they could be addressed. Shame on you for throwing our complaints back to us SINCE WE DID ADDRESS THEM DIRECTLY WHILE WE STAYED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I HAVE IT IN WRITING. Expedia also called them on our behalf and complained for us as well. We went through several avenues to complain.
And it just keeps going on, they refused to book us a car at 530 in the morning to get to the airport and kept telling us the driver would get there at 6. I repeatedly said we wanted to go earlier. I understand if they consider that too early but like I said we are experienced international travelers and like to have plenty of time to account for issues we may experience checking in and going through international flights in other countries. I dont care if they thought it was too early, just book it for us at the time we requested. Therefore, we had to try to find a way to book it ourselves, which was a hasse. We get to the airport and yes it was early but there were other travelers being dropped off at the exact same time as we were. It was so terrible I lost thousands of dollars just to get out of there. We lost money on the room since we left early, then we paid for a flight out of Laos to Thailand earlier than our flight was originally scheduled and booked another hotel. It was worth it just to get out of there. We have never been treated so disrespectfully. Maybe they have an issue since we are a mixed race white and asian couple.
I know this review may sound like we are difficult but this review is actually underexaggerated from what we went through. Anyway if you decide to stay here please please do not book the Deluxe UNESCO room.
- Christoph (8/5): Very enjoyable! - Very enjoyable stay. Only downsize as everywhere i probably go, the vegan options where insuficient. But thats nothing i would degrade a hotel for.
I enjoyed the Stay very much.
- Kelly (2/5): - Do NOT book the Superior room. All the other rooms are on the property. We checked in and they took us up a few stairs and our room is right above the reception desk. It is terribly noisy, no privacy, so uncomfortable and unsafe. You can hear everyone checking in and staff talking which means everyone can hear you. Right across drom room where staff sleep so noisy !!! We immediately asked to check out and for refund for not as advertised and told non refundable. We lost hundreds of dollars we checked out early as we couldnt stay. We gave it one night it was crazy loud. Not sure what its like to stay on property as our room was not. They wouldnt serve us hreakfast or coffee even though paid for it with room. SCAM!!!! Staff so rude and argumentative. I couldnt believe it. We are well traveled international travelers who travel several months a year. Manager so rude. This was worst experience we ever had.
- Cheryl_Karen (10/5): Beautiful grounds, quiet, great location and food - Gorgeous grounds - so serene and beautiful. Bicycles to borrow. Great breakfast buffet with made to order eggs and a plentiful variety of options. Effective and cute heat warmers to eat outside. Perfect location - walking distance to markets, town and places of interest. Comfortable spacious room with cozy balcony.
- kingjwade (2/5): Loud, overbooked, not romantic. - My wife and I pre booked this hotel 6 months in advance. When we checked in they put us in a room directly above the check in office and next to the street. Extremely loud and room smelt like smoke. Asked for a change of room and was told they didn’t have other rooms available. We struggled through the first night. Went to breakfast and not a seat available. One cook making food for 3 dozen people. I asked for coffee and never got it. We are checking out early to go stay somewhere else. Absolutely not worth the money.
- Dina (10/5): Exceptional - Very convenient, comfortable and good quality place!!!
Good beds, friendly manager, good location!)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful yet close to everything - We stayed 5 nights. The place was baby friendly. Everyone was very kind. Every time we opened the door, we had the wow feelings. The pond, flowers, design...
- Verified traveler (10/5): A real Sanctuary... - I had the pleasure of 8 nights here and an upgraded room also. My room was spacious, tasteful with comfy bed ad I had a generous shower and deep tub. I looked over onto the most stunning lily pond and palm gardens all kept beautifully by the ground staff. The pool was small, unheated, serene and clean. I swam every day. The breakfasts are full of fresh aswell as pastries, fruit with eggs and noodles cooked to order.
Overall, a very stylish, central to everything, little oasis where the Asian architecture is nestled in lush greenery, bicycles are plentiful to hire at no charge and staff are extremely polite and helpful. I really loved it here and would recommend it for a restful break, a family stay or a night or two.
- Marie (10/5): Magnifique - Superbe hotel, bien situe tout pres du Night Market, centre ville a pied. Accueil tres sympathique.
- Guy (10/5): - Wonderful - we’ve stayed in many hotels in SE Asia, and this is the best so far.
- elapresta (10/5): Five star hotel at two star price. - Beautiful and well maintained grounds. Tasty and affordable food in a restaurant overlooking a lily pad strewn pond. A staff that is polite and helpful. Rooms that spacious and comfortable. Difficulty here is leaving. One instinctively feels that is a mistake. I’ll be back.
- ilonam575 (10/5): Amazing place - It is just a paradise in the middle of a busy city. Spacious rooms with a wonderful decor, very tasty breakfast and tranquility…. My dinner experience was great as well. And an exceptional service. Stayed only one week, but would love to come back.
- Kevin (10/5): Loved it - The hotel is set in gardens and pond. The room we had - upgraded - was spacious and clean with all amenities provided and was next to the swimming pool. The breakfast building is positioned next to the pond and extends over it. The staff there were friendly and helpful. Reception staff were all incredibly polite and assisted with suggestions for our walks around town. We really did enjoy our stay and would definitely come again.
- Christopher (10/5): Eco friendly hotel ideally situated in Luang Praba - Due to an admin error on my part we arrived a day earlier than expected, the staff were very helpful and managed to get us into our rooms without any fuss. The hotel is beautiful, centrally located and the staff are very helpful. We had massages in the spa on a couple of days and again the staff were excellent. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
- Nicholas (10/5): Amazing property and in a great location. - Clean, great facilities, friendly and helpful front desk. Free use of bikes. Amazing fresh homemade breakfast. Nothing
- Rob (8/5): Fantastic accommodation with friendly staff and a wonderful buffet breakfast. - Fantastic location Could use a dehumidifier in the room, pool was heavily chlorinated.
- Noelle (8/5): Relax in Luang Prabang. - Staff were attentive and nothing was too much hassle for them to arrange for us. They were polite and very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and quiet, within eye shot of a temple and a quick walk to the night market. Do book a massage. Great value and in a lovely little cabana in the corner of the hotel grounds. We were in the Unesco building so while very atmospheric, the water in the shower took a good 10 mins to kick in and warm up. I think the other rooms have better water pressure / heating.
- VickyRobinson (10/5): A great little oasis near to all the action - A wonderful oasis walking distance to the hustle and bustle.
Loved my solo stay here, a great breakfast and cocktails and a lovely pool for a refreshing dip at the end of a hot day exploring.
Staff were friendly and helpful - would come back for sure !
- James (10/5): Quality Accomodation, centrally located - Great location you can walk to the Night Market and central area. Excellent reception service. Speak English well. Room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was quality. Eggs to your liking. Speciality breads. Beautifully landscaped gardens create a relaxing ambience. Aircon & Sat tv worked well.
- Jukka (9/5): Superb - Staff were very helpful and vert quick to respond any issues. Room, surroundings and hotel were very nice.
- Peter (9/5): Excellent luxury and great location near all main attractions - Beautiful old style spacious rooms with 5 mins walk to night markets and restaurants Nothing
- Alper_alpay (6/5): Fair - Great loczation and facilities of the hotel is great. Breakfast was great with a lot of variety of foods. Despite asking for a quite room hote booked me to a room facing main road. Wooden windows dont shut completely and room was quite noisy.
- Julien (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (10/5): A great stay in a lovely city - Staff amazing. Very helpful. Will arrange Khopfa Sunset Cruise which is a must and Tuk told if required. Bikes on site to use FOC. Rooms well appointed. Bed comfortable. Pool area ideal for a dip. Breakfast varied and good. Ideally located for walking to attractions in city centre. Overall a great property. Nothing to dislike.
However a recommendation would be for the hotel to have a link with a reputable scooter provider in order to perhaps negate having to hand over your passport when you want to hire a scooter and then potentially be held to ransom when you return the scooter. Just a thought.
- JoolsB56 (10/5): Fantastic Stay at the Sanctuary - Wonderful place to stay in Luang Prabang. I was with a
group of 18 and heard no negative comments. Very attentive staff, comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms with nice amenities and showers. I mostly ate American breakfasts and though it was modestly sized, there was great variety from fruit to homemade bread to eggs to great coffee. It’s located near great restaurants, markets, and some high end
craft shops. I’d stay here again! PS, be sure to have a massage here
- Olesea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pace (10/5): An oasis - Beautifully well manicured. Exceptional service.
- Lynette (10/5): The staff made you feel special - The location and the service. Nothing

- Jaye (9/5): Superb -
- Mia (8/5): Heritage stay in Luang Prabang - Lovely gardens with lotus pond. Excellent buffet breakfast with a good range of western options. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful heritage buildings and peaceful location. The rooms are quite small and dark and don't quite match up to the exterior and grounds. The hotel is close to but not within the old town itself.
- Jessica (10/5): 5 days in this quaint place is not enough. I will definitely return and book at the same hotel. - Staff were pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great especially their coffee and croissants. Location is walking distance to the historic district, royal palace, night market, Mekong River and Phousi hill. Nothing. I have only 1 suggestion, if it’s possible to add screen windows so that natural cool air can enter the room especially during the months of October -February. But like I said, there is nothing I don’t like in this property. It’s perfect!
- Mats (10/5): Väldigt nöjda - Vi hade 5 fantastiska dagar på hotellet. Ligger centralt. Har bra mat. Bra service.
- Rosa (10/5): Exceptional - People are so amazing
Rooms are confortable and nice.
Swiming pool is a must
Delicous breakfast
Near to the night market Nothing
- 484peggyz (10/5): Great little hotel! - This hotel is fantastic!!! Clean, beautiful, and very friendly!! The beds are very comfy and the ac works great! They also have a great breakfast and a little bar with happy hour every day. It is close to many great restaurants and the night market!! I highly recommend!!
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast. Nice pool.
- Sally (9/5): Superb - Most comfy bed we slept in, in South East Asia. Reception staff really friendly and helpful. Only a 5 minute walk to the night market so walking distance for the town. Pool was small but big enough for the hotel. Bar and restaurant staff not the best. We felt uncomfortable as they did not speak to us and didn’t even smile. We went out for breakfast on the last 2 days as we were put off by the staff. Towels were old and frayed and pool towels had stains and bleach marks on them - not a great look. Slightly overpriced hotel for what you get.
- Charl (9/5): Superb -
- BYONG CHUL (10/5):

- Odette (8/5): Very good -
- Sebastian (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (10/5): Lovely place, quiet and relaxing - Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff
The spa treatments were good, and so was breakfast Pre communication was lacking. I found it difficult to get a response to my request to book their shuttle from the airport
- Paul (8/5): Nice room, terrace and great location. - Great location, round the corner from a good supermarket (Dara Market) selling all needs including beer, wine etc. Two blocks from the night market.
- Stephanie (8/5): Very good - The hotel was in a perfect location, right near the central part of Luang Prabang and close to many eateries, bars, shops - everything you could need. The hotel grounds were very well maintained and the buildings have been built to match the UNESCO heritage listed area. Breakfast was great, with a nice selection of foods. Would highly recommend. The room we were in was on the lower floor and was not very soundproof for us when guests were in the room above us.
