Guest Reviews
- Ricky (10/5): - Want to be back there when in kl
- Indy (8/5): - The cost is pretty much close to other hotels in the area. Shortfalls are:
No internet in rooms for 8 nights stay.
Not provided tea coffee and kettle.
No bar fridge.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cafe is good
- Daniela (6/5): - The bathroom is outside the room and it doesn’t have door, it feels unsafe
- Samuel (10/5): Central location - Great location and easy parking, price is cheap for KL area
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth the money - Very good location, comfy rooms for the price, close to kl Sentral and a lot of parking
- Manuel (10/5): - Great location
- Janette (10/5): - If you need five star fancy, this isn't for you. But if you value clean, air-conditioned rooms with their own bathroom, very helpful, friendly staff and a good restaurant on the ground floor.....this is the place !!
And you don't HAVE to be Young, Male or Christian. And what a bargain !! I'd love to go back again.
- Ruth (6/5): - Very convenient place to put up for a night, especially if you're not a light-sleeper. The place is clean, water pressure in our room on the 2nd floor was good, the warm water shower was great after a tiring day, & the working airconditioned made the room comfortable to just relax in. It's a basic room with a jug kettle to boil some water, a desk & comfy work chair to get some work done, as well as a comfortable enough bed beddings to rest. There's also a water dispenser at the hallway. I liked that parking is available for RM2.20/day only (with validation). There are also plenty of good food options around & transportation options as well.
The only thing we really struggled was the noisy night environment, where not just the sound of vehicles, but possibly drunk humans, & karaoke music from shops or stalls nearby in the wee hours of the morning. If you're a very light sleeper, you'll need to request for a room that's hopefully not facing the backroad like ours. We're generally not light sleepers, but this was 1 night where I really struggled to get a good night's sleep.
- AUNG (6/5): - Noisy, poor facilities, but good build in restaurant
- Tai (8/5): - Strategic location for those who wish to travel around KL and Selangor thru MRT, Monorel, rapid KL And KTM, it is so convenient 😁
- James (8/5): Great staff terrible restaurant - First of all avoid the restaurant.. had fried noodle the oil they use is known as drain oil . Other words dirty . It was putrid the taste
As for the hostel, it was very run down but the staff simply the best ..lovely people
- Vic (6/5): - Toilet bowl is dirty
- Mambang (10/5): - Excellent
- Terry (8/5): - I've visited many times over several years.
- Chong (8/5): Excellent wifi, clean and secured environment - Good, excellent Wifi :)
- SOMEBODY (4/5): - IS TIME TO MAKE BIGGER RENOVATION
- YinKwong (6/5): YMCA KL - Check in after mid night , so speed check in , room good for budget traveler.
- GS (6/5): - Nice hotel nearby the shopping mall and Metro station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Like: price, location
Dislike: too noisy when new guests arrived and sounds can be easily heard while trying to sleep
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to the hub of travels to different parts of KL and beyond
- CK (6/5): - The room that I booked is old and needs to be renovated. The location of the property is good n near the train station
- LE (6/5): So so - No mineral water and hair dryer
- Roger (10/5): Nice friendly Place to stay - i have stayed at this Hotel several times, and I am always happy with my stay! The Company I first made a reservation with for this Hotel, didn't actually make a reservation for me. I arrived expecting to have a room reserved. I knew the ladt on duty and she let me log on and go through Expedia, and make a reservation. In a few minutes I had a reservation. I was very relieved!!!
- sony (10/5): - Good overall budget hotel. Close to all public transport.
- Ramesh Kumar Ma (6/5): - Very convenient location for any work in Kuala Lumpur
- Richard (4/5): Tired facilities with limited services. - Virtually no services. No TV channels in English, no safety deposit box,no telephone service from the room. A lot of nothing.
- Roger Homer (10/5): Safety combined with service. - Great location. My trusted place of stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice budget hotel with friendly staff - Hotel is decent if on a budget. Clean and fully functioning. Staff were super friendly and I like the idea of a security guard at the front door.
- Aryadi Razak (8/5): My stay - Very convenient location. Romm looking a bit old but acceptable.
- M (8/5): Close to KL Sentral station - Nice location, ok room, reasonable price.
I arrived very late night but the staff was kind and did not take much time to check in so that I can go to bed soon after my arrival.
- YUEE HARNG (2/5): bitten by bed bugs!!! - bitten by bed bugs!!!
obviously the bed sheet is not changed!
else why would bed bugs there to bite us?>!?!?!
- Verified traveler (6/5): can sleep. and just for sleep. don't expect other - old. should have upgraded, but no upgrading done so far.
triple bed room has no toilet, need to use common toilet
- Tan (2/5): My trust Hotel.com introduce ROOM without toilet. - The biggest of my own mistake booking this room without toilet attached, my eye was totally BLIND or the Hotel.com write wrongly. I just hope Hotel.com no more recommend such type of room without toilet attached. Really upset spoiled my holidays mood.
- Nikhil (6/5): No frills, but still good value - Basic, but centrally located. Cleanliness could be improved.
- Georgio (8/5): Budget hostel/hotel close to Sentral Station - Spent three days here, picked the hotel because it's proximity to Sentral Station. The pictures are nicer than the room itself, the size is a bit small and it's a bit outdated, but it's adequate for a few nights sleep. It's close to local transportation, eateries, money exchange and small grocery stores. Due to it's central location I expected a noisier room (on one side of the building there are eateries, the other side there is a busy road) but I stayed on the road side, it was OK. Staff is nice and helpful.
- Weiz (6/5): Short trip - ok
- Arul (6/5): Centrally located hotel - Comfortable stay and central location that is close to other destinations.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - The stay was fantastic and the hotel is in the heart of the city.
- YinKwong (6/5): Acceptable - Just acceptable, and walking distance to KL sentral , Many Blind People Massage shop
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ymca, not be fooled by the rating - The location is grant but the condition not so. There was a stain on the bed sheet, worn out carpet, the bathroom door cant be closed, no fridge in the room, no coffee/tea, poor bathroom condition. But the staff is great and easy to deal with.
- glody (8/5): Fantastic - Nice n Comfy room..., also economic prices...
- danny (2/5): - In conclusion it was bad. The room was extremely small and the toilets were outside and it felt like we were living in a dorm.
- Jason (8/5): Nice place to stay with. Will come back again. - Very good place. Near Sentral can walk around. Really nice.
- Roger Homer (8/5): Good Location, Great Hospitality - This is the 4th year I am staying at this property, and it seems to be deteriorating every year. While the location is still brilliant as it is central and accessible, the toilets need to be done up. One of the rooms given to us had no temperature control on the water heater - so there was just hot and cold water. No breakfast anymore. However, the location is great and the people still retain the Asian hospitality and so I would gladly use the place again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): no comment - the hotel got a broken basin and d carpet is old,
- Rex (8/5): Convenient, reasonably priced and cleaned - So far so good
- LU (8/5): good location, variety foods easily found - one of the bathroom need maintainance ,not so happy as breakfast no longer provided.
- Torben (8/5): - Exelent location to city ,train . And everything .
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible! - hotel rules very strict!our family trip and book a one room to stay, the staff still want to break and cannot stay in one room, do you know our family hard to reunite? !Very angry with this!Never come again!
- YC Li (6/5): Good location - This hotel is located at a very strategic location. Easy access to taxi, bus, train and airport transfers
- Verified traveler (8/5): traveling comfort specially with busy schedule
- there is nothing to speak about experience..most of my kl trips are academic related ...
- liew (10/5): Great family Hotel - moderate rate, homely, easy access transportation, friendly and helpful.
- JF (6/5): At city centre - For the price you pay, you couldn't ask for more. Pleasant stay & stone throw away from KL Sentral.
- Hock Sui (10/5): Great stay with them! - Great stay at YMCA, always a pleasure to have such good reliability close to KL Sentral, where it is convenient for the airport bus or the airport train, or just commuting around KL. Will definitely stay here again when I am in KL next time.
- Grace (4/5): Wifi does not work at all - You get what you pay for. The room is very basic, just for sleeping. Wifi in room does not work. I was unable to whatsapp.
- Enid (8/5): Visiting family and friends in KL - Comfortable basic hotel. Good value for me. Needs updating. Staff very friendly and accommodating . English widely spoken. Shopping mall within easy reach with good transport links to and from KLIA and LRT. Food widely available.
- Peter Lee (4/5): - No proper security as any body can excess up and down freely
- Faizan (6/5): Great budget hotel - Good budget accomodation with all the basics. The building was old. But the room was comfortable. I would highly recommend for budget conscious travellers.
- YC (6/5): - Reasonably okay. Good location for public transportation.
- yong jang (8/5): - a quiet little place in a busy city centre. Not much service provided, and was not expected. staff are pleasant & friendly.
- Ken (10/5): YMCA KL-a true hostel and not a brothel! - No smoking, drugs, alcohol or unsavory characters on the premises. Excellent security among people who seemed peace loving and highly moral. The YMCA-KL reminds me of the first "Y" that I visited many years ago in Chicago. The emphasis was on the "C" back then and it was where I was taught my first passage from the Book of Psalms-the 23rd chapter.
- Tai Chi Louise (8/5): Excellent central position. Everything I needed. - I cancelled my booking in the tourist precinct of Bukit Bintang because I was looking for community Tai Chi to join in and I found it at the YMCA. Ginnie Lai, Community Development at the Y was very helpful, and passed me on to others who are involved in groups in the community nearby. Good start.
The room (twin) was spacious and provided everything I needed at the best rate in town. Basic, but the air con and wifi are good and the cafe down stairs for the complementary breakfasts has a good menu and is open until 10. There is also a laundry co-located which is very efficient and cheap. Security is good, staff are polite, and businesslike. I was a single female travelling alone and felt safe.
5 mins walk from the KL Central Station which is a transport hub for trains, including the Express to the airports, buses, Hop on / off, and monorail. Also there is a system of free pink commuter buses "Go KL" which pass nearby.
Because of the location, activities, room amenities, easy transport etc my week was very busy and very successful. Then I came back after my trip north to Kelantan and stayed another night in a recently renovated double room which was a bit smaller but still very comfortable. Not a resort, but I did not want that stuff.
Too busy to take photos!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Poor, even reception was not very pleasant and bre - Notna pleasant experience. Misleading about check in time
- Verified traveler (4/5): great location but - poor wifi
- Ng Song Seng (6/5): A few steps away from KL Sentral transport hub - Cosy place to stay which is only steps away from the KL Sentral transport hub that makes the rest of KL very accessible from here.
Though the furniture and fittings may appear old, they are comparable to those in budget hotels. Excellent room cleanliness, a sign of facilities well maintained.
Staff are friendly and helpful when approached. However, service at the concierge counter is rather slow because even when there are two staff members at the counter, only one of them will be serving the guests one at a time.
Chose to return to YMCA Brickfields because of the added security I enjoyed during my first stay two years ago. In addition to the key for each room, guests needed to gain access to the corridor at their level via a glass door with a convenient tap of a security card issued for the specific level. However, during my recent stay, though the glass door with the security feature was still in place, the operating system was switched on but was not activated. Hence guests were able to pass through the glass door without having to tap the card to unlock it electronically. Without this additional security feature, YMCA Brickfields will not be able to differentiate itself from the competing budget hotels nearby.
- Ronald (6/5): It is a YMCA - What can I say? This is a YMCA. Nothing special, but clean and secure. And the price is right. The internet did not work, the TV and stations did not work, the staff are clueless, but it is a YMCA. That is the good thing. Will I stay there again for 1 night on my way to the airport...you bet!It is a YMCA!
- Soon Liang (8/5): Nice place to stay - Depend on the room that you are allocated. This time it was good.In the past I did stay several times in a room that there is hardy any leg room between the chair and the desk. It was quite uncomfortable if you have to work using your laptop and especially if you need to work for a long time.
The wifi is good, staff friendly.
- Philip (6/5): Customers is utmost important - Overall rating : Satisfactory.
My Greatest Comments:
1) Front Counter Official need to send Client's Course Training - he is not multitasking person, quite rude the answer if ask questions or help or favor while he is doing work ( a chinese guy) . He thinks he is always right Customer are wrong- scolding customers, hot temper guy.
2) House keeping should extend until 10 pm, as many customers arrive late for check in the hotel. If you ask for additional pillow or blanket you wait until the next day
- Verified traveler (4/5): staff are nice but the hotel needs maintenance. - The staff were really helpful and keen to please. Unfortunately the showers needed repair. We had to have cold showers most of the time. Some of the showers did not work at all. I have stayed there on a few occasions and I believe there has not been any maintenance done since the first time I stayed there.
- KOOKMYUNG (2/5): Bad bugs were there- - It looks not so bad, but conclusively there were bad bug. After i saw it, that night were horrible. need not to explain more....
my room number was 202.
- Sarah (8/5): This hotel was excellent for a layover. - Centrally located to KL Sentral, easy to find, in a safe and easily accessible area of town. This was ideal for the price range and timing of my visit.
- Ananth (6/5): Basic clean stay in a convenient location. - Basic comfortable stay in a convenient location with all amenities.
- YinKwong (6/5): YMCA KL stay free and easy. - Neat and clean, room lighting too dim and most power socket worn out, plug easily come off.
Stale air smell.
- Eng Chiau (4/5): No attached toilet - The triple room we stayed has got no toilet. This fact should have being made known in the room description section.I would not have booked a room without toilet.
- Captain (4/5): Bed Bugs !! - Room 321 and 327 had bed bugs crawling on the sheet itself.
I shifted at 0200 hrs in the night to the third room, which was on 2nd floor.
- Ms Natsha (6/5): clean, safe and friendly - The hotel is clean and staffs are friendly. The breakfast are not many choises however the test is good.I feel safe like staying at home. y
- Verified traveler (6/5): 2 nights at YMCA - Overall experience was okay. Location is convenient and close to KL Sentral. Staff not too friendly. Room with attached bathroom was good for the price. Would avoid room without attached bathroom if possible due to inconvenience and lack of privacy. Complementary breakfast was reasonable and a nice addition. Internet terminal speeds in cafe/restaurant are extremely slow! Didn't have a wifi device so cannot comment on that.
