• CheshireDancingqueen (10/5): Perfect Port Position - This lovely hotel couldn’t be situated in a more enviable location with prime views of Port Vieux. You enter through a doorway nestled between two restaurants and climb 2 flights of stairs to get to reception which is manned between 3pm and 8pm. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were kindly helped with our luggage to our room. There is no lift so travel light especially if like us you were on the top floor. Our room was lovely, spacious and very well equipped. Our large bathroom had a glass half wall between it and the bedroom which may not suit some guests. The bed was super comfy with quality crisp linen and good pillows. There is a table and chairs looking out over the port, the perfect place to relax with a coffee or even a glass of wine taking in the stunning view. Breakfast is served in the room at your agreed time, we upgraded our breakfast to included ham/cheese and eggs along with the continental selection. Very tasty and good value, really set us up for the day. The hotel is small and well equipped, there isn’t a bar or communal area however with us only staying 2 nights it really wasn’t an issue for us. Great stay, climbing 4 flights of stairs was absolutely worth it for the fabulous view.

• RalphJalbout (8/5): Great Location and Stay at La Rochelle. - Hotel La Marine is centrally located in the heart of La Rochelle’s old port, just above the iconic promenade and easily accessible from the train station. The hotel faces the harbor, offering a scenic and vibrant atmosphere. Despite being on a busy street, the room was well soundproofed thanks to double-glazed windows. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, offering great local tips and recommendations. Although the building is historic, it has been recently and tastefully modernized. We weren’t able to connect to the WiFi from our room, despite it being available. Also, there was no mini bar fridge (to store food) or bottled water to drink. All in all, it’s a Bead and Breakfast, with not much amenities. It’s a great place to stay in La Rochelle, especially for its cleanliness, modern design, and unbeatable location.

Vincent was incredibly kind helpful and went over and above to help us find safe parking and he stayed late to ensure we found the hotel and we’re settled I. Our lovely room. The room was quiet as at the back and the bed was so comfortable! All facilities are modern and clean. We over slept but Ursula was so kind and arranged late check out for us. We were able to leave our bike gear behind reception after check out so that we could have lunch out at our leisure. This hotel was a fabulous find and in a perfect location on the quay. Wonderful friendly helpful staff and clean lovely room and facilities. Highly recommend.

GO TO HOTEL, while in France - We stayed here 2 years ago and whilst we enjoyed our time, enough to book again this year, staff then were a little off putting...my personal opinion. This time, it is totally different. Staff are EXCELLENT, everyone of them. Welcoming, helpful and so friendly. The room, Poet View, as before, lived up to expectations...one added and absolutely terrific bonus was the AMAZING BREAKFAST served to our room. This is our GO TO HOTEL when visiting France..as is the City of La Rochelle our GO TO CITY. Thanks to all at La Marine. You made our Anniversary, one to remember this year.❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉
• Kira (10/5): - This is a great place to stay if you would like to be in the center of everything in La Rochelle. The view from the window is fantastic, and the room was very quiet despite all the hustle and bustle outside. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing we had an issue with was the WiFi. If you are from another country and depend on Wi-Fi for communication, it goes in and out, so not very reliable.
• CarolienBAC (8/5): Great location, friendly staff - The unique selling point of this hotel is the location, situated on the first floor of a beautiful old building in the old harbour of La Rochelle. Be advised though: the hotel is located in a pedestrian zone, so you'll have to walk with your suitcases to reach the hotel. Because the hotel doesn't have parking spots, we parked at Parking Verdun, at about ten minutes walk from the hotel. Our room on the second floor was cozy, but quite small. The bed was very good and the shower was excellent. At night the room was very quiet, so I slept well. The separate toilet was really very small, I can't imagine a tall person sitting comfortably on this toilet seat. The hotel has a lot of stairs and doesn't have an elevator, so if you are a person with reduced mobility, this hotel is not suited for you. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Reception has limited opening hours, so make sure to double check the check-in times. The hotel does not have a breakfast room. Breakfast is served in the room, which we did find a bit of a hassle. Not that big of a fan of breakfast in bed. The breakfast consisted of fresh croissants and pain au chocolat and jam. No savoury breakfast options. Would have loved some cheese or ham.

• matthewgE9064VQ (10/5): Wow! A hidden gem! - This hotel is what I would call a hidden gem! The view from our room was SOMY AMAZING, the room was large, light and airy and very clean. We had an adjoining groom which our three children slept in and there was plenty of space. I’ve stayed in a lot of higher star rated hotels but this has to be one of the BEST ones I have stayed in- the port view rooms are without doubt the best part! Watching to world go by was amazing. We will be back! Thank you to the very friendly and helpful staff and if you are looking for a clean, safe, well located space to stay in La Rochelle I highly recommend you book this hotel! The only consideration is to access the reception and rooms it’s stairs only. Our 4 year old was fine and luggage not to much of an issue.
• O3339ALjoep (10/5): Best hotel experience ever. - Can’t say enough about the EXCELLENT service as this hotel. A true gem. Hotel was clean, quiet, good location. Staff were amazing. Traveling with two small children, our taxi cancelled last minute and one of the staff walked all the way to the train station with us to help carry luggage. We almost cried from their generosity. We will definitely be back.

The harbor walkway outside the hotel is very busy with walkers, cyclists (and dogs!); great for people watching; but the double glazed windows kept out all the sound at bedtime. The stairs are a challenge but staff willing to help with luggage. We will certainly stay again.

Well, it was again excellent, Welcome, upgraded to a suite overlooking the Marina, it could not have been better. They assisted them perfectly to find restaurants... a great souvenir. They loved it.
• Jacob (10/5): Perfect room with perfect view - We came on Bastille day so parking was crazy but we finally found parking a ways away. The hotel was fabulous. The staff called a few times to check in on when we would get there and let us know what to expect. The desk closes at 8 and we came in later than that but they have a lock box. Fireworks right out our window. Breakfast delivered in the room. It was perfect.

• Peter (10/5): Super hotel in the heart of town - Lovely hotel in the heart of La Rochelle and would highly recommend. We had a family room which was spacious and had everything we needed. 10 minute walk to the beach but in the middle of town with lovely view of the harbour area. Vincent at reception was extremely helpful. Only potential downside was the steep stairs to get to reception if you had heavy luggage or not great on the feet. We will be back.

The hotel had sent us an email regarding the parking options, however it was not forwarded by Hotels.com, so we were unprepared. However it was quite a distance from any parking. Most of the free parking was full, although we did find some eventually - Paid for parking was closer but a queue to get in.
• Dawn (4/5): So disappointing - Firstly, nowhere to drop off bags in late morning because noone there and door locked until 3pm which we did not expect and had been travelling from Nantes and it was hot weather. Noone is there at night, either, didnt feel safe - if an emergency would not have been good. View from room was lovely but standard of room very tired and neglected. Was cheap room interior, in poor state of repair - shelf fell down, bedside shelf almost fallen down & all extremely basic and felt neglected. Bathroom towels old and no longer white - need throwing away!! This hotel definitely over priced. Harbour view and location of hotel is only good point. The photos supplied by hotel are misleading.
• Martin (8/5): Harbour Views - Outstanding, a perfect location over looking the harbour and within the buzz of the night life and the many restaurants. Staff were very helpful. However a word of warning the parking is difficult as the hotel is located in a pedestrian only area . This was not made enough on booking.

• Miriam (10/5): - Lovely - we had a water-facing view and I could not stop looking out the French doors - absolutely beautiful. It’s super loud and active out there but the soundproofing doors work very well. Friendly people at reception. Room decor was new and cool and clean. Adored it.

There should be a way to enter and leave luggage, even if check in is later. Same applies to check out. We had to bring out luggage around with us from 11 am.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Worse experience ever - The hotel is in a great location on the docks with plenty to do around. Unfortunately we encountered a number of issues on our trip. 1. The street the hotel is on is a one way and was under constructions for month with makes the hotel inaccessible by car. 2. There is no help with the luggage, no elevator and the reception is on the first floor. I have broken legs so it was absolutely impossible to get up there no matter how hard i tried. 3. When we arrived it was late in the evening and my wife, my 7 years old and myself got accosted by 2 prostitutes with no shame. 4. That night (A Monday) was some sort of party (well i hope it’s not this way every night) and there was drunk people EVERYWHERE. 5. The hotel was unable to accommodate the deception and we ended up having to book a different hotel and sleep somewhere else. In the end this was a horrible experience with a hotel manager lying to us on the phone and unable to help us in any way. Thank god for HOTELS.COM that did help us. I will NEVER go to this hotel ever again and wish they were removed from the site…bad all around.

• John (6/5): Pleasant hotel - Pleasant hotel although pictures on website were not reflective of the room offered. Also asked to pay an additional charge for the dog. Parking is a nightmare in La Rochelle-stressful and at least 1km from the hotel.

• Derek (10/5): Location, Location, Location - Great location within the port precinct with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from all within 100m of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Only downside is availability of onsite parking, however on request the hotel can arrange to reserve secure underground parking within 5mins walk at a discounted rate. Will certainly retrun just for the location
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Great to be in the centre of La Rochelle but not so great that the car parking is a good 10 minute walk away and the hotel has no lift. Also we had 2 expensive bikes on the roof of the car and that posed a problem for security of them and parking. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor and hauling the luggage up was like a workout in the gym. Mixed reception from the 2 different ladies on the desk. Overall I would stay again if no bikes with us and an overnight bag only to take in. Not suitable for reduced mobility customers.

• Robert (4/5): We won’t come back. - Disappointing trip. Two flights of stairs with two 20kg cases isn’t fun. There needs to be a facility for bags to be carried from the street. Offering help once you’ve reached reception is too late. No facility to drop bags off and then park. A very busy spot and difficult to find in a car. We ended up parking a couple of streets away at great expense. We were expecting a sea view but the view was truly terrible. Be very careful which room you book. Toilet very small. An expensive trip for what you get!

• Daniel (10/5): - La Marine is located across the street from the Marina. Exceptionally located, surrounded by bars, restaurants, music, street performers and at walking distance to the Historical Center. The Hotel does not have a parking lot; however, they got an agreement with an underground parking garage close by at a discounted rate. Our room was large, nicely decorated, comfortable bed, a table with chairs placed under a large window with a 180-degree bay marina unobstructed view. The bathroom is equipped with modern furniture and an adequate shower compartment with a high water pressure head and handheld shower. They served breakfast early in the morning; breakfast is delivered to your room at no extra charge. Depending on the time of the year, you will encounter a roadblock to prevent traffic from accessing the marina. Nevertheless, you may go around it to unload your luggage. The staff was friendly, accommodating and polite. The Hotel staff made us feel at home. Thank you! I highly recommend La Marine Hotel.

The bathroom are modern and very clean. The personnel are super nice and helpful. only negative point, my room was on the fourth floor and there is no elevator.
• Ms DJ (6/5): Location Location Location - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is great; directly opposite the gorgeous quay and harbour. The rooms are not particularly clean, however. We found quite a bit of dust around. The toilet was tiny and anyone of a more than average size would struggle to use it with the door closed. The bathroom was small also but the shower was fantastic. We stayed one night either side of a trip to Ile de Re and this was fine. I am not sure I would stay there for any length of time but I cannot fault the staff or location.
• Sarah (10/5): Value for money in a prime location - Stayed here for 2 nights. Perfect location on the front, with lots of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. Room was small and basic but was clean and absolutely fine for what we needed - a bed and a hot powerful shower. Good value for money. Just be prepared for stairs up to the reception and then on to the rooms; especially if carrying heavy luggage! Avoid rooms 11 and 12 if you can, as they are 3 flights up, but are v peaceful at night. Would definitely return.

• Martin (10/5): Centre of town - Friendly hotel, run by really nice people. Clean comfortable rooms. We were helped up the steep stairs with our luggage and were made very welcome.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Port-side Hotel - This hotel is right in the historic port of La Rochelle. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and reasonably spacious. The staff was very welcoming and informative. Our room was in back facing a small courtyard. The biggest challenge is accessing the hotel. We gave up trying to get there with our rental car. Be prepared to park away from the hotel. Also, there are at least two sets of stairs you will need to climb to get to the reception area. Otherwise, we found the hotel to be a good value, especially as it is close to many sites, restaurants, and shops.
• Alan (10/5): Family at La Marine - The staff at this hotel are incredible. Location is perfect - nothing better. Rooms were clean and had more than enough room to accommodate 4 of us. Would go back and visit anytime.

Excellent location for sightseeing and nightlife! Excellent in-room breakfast. Hiked up two flights of stairs with luggage. Parking is about 0.4 miles from hotel, but we dropped luggage and parked for the stay. Will come back again!

• Verified traveler (10/5): Better than expected - When you choose a hotel right on the harbor, you're taking a chance between picturesque and noisy. This hotel is amazingly restored and well-insulated, with two sets of new double-paned windows. Even though festivities were going on in the street below, we could not hear anything from our 4th floor room. The view of the harbor towers was grand. The downside: no elevator, so hauling suitcases could be a chore. We were forewarned, and only staying one night, so we parked in the recommended parking garage about 5 blocks away and walked in with small packs.
• keeley (6/5): Small and quant but lacking in facities - Lovely little hotel very chic. The location is superb and the rooms at the back of the hotel small but quiet. Unfortunately there is no lift and the stairs are very narrow and very steep, not useful for the less mobile guest. It does state that food and drink is not allowed in the room yet there is no facilities other than breakfast in your room, to eat at the hotel. Saying that bars and resteraunts are just outside the entrance. The room was advertised as ( sea view) this was not the case you had to pay extra. I wouldn't choose this hotel again purely due to the lack of facilities.
