Guest Reviews
- Darin (2/5): - Bugs, dirty, garbage in drawers and under beds. Tv stopped working in morning, toilet had cigarettes/tobacco on entry. Dead spider under linen on check-in. Hotel in general in extreme decay, in major need of renovation. I booked reservations that they tried to get out of, but then did me a favor by letting me stay there…
- Tanesha (2/5): - Arrived with confirmation from expida driving 5 hours away to find out the property manager rent out the room we reserved no vacancy no near by hotels with vacancy
- Linda (4/5): - Property exterior very poor, expedia is overrating with that photo. Door was in terrible shape. Very difficult to open because of defective door jam. Chain lock on inside was installed wrong and poorly. Put chair under inside door for our added security. Continental breakfast offering was unexceptable. Room seemed fairly clean except near microwave area was sticky. Tub drain had no covering.
No hangers on coat rack. Inadequate electrical plugs. No plugs for lighting either side of bed. Would not rate this as a hotel, more like a weekly for construction workers.
- Kayle (2/5): - Hotel didn’t have our room upon check in. Checked to see if a late check in was arriving and multiple people called to say he was arriving. One person even pretending to be on the phone with the person. Horrible vibes.
- Sandra (6/5): - A good overnight stop
- Craig (2/5): - Cockroach party in the radiators! Cockroaches everywhere!
- The Thumb Roofing & Repair (1/5): Was not able to stay at this place due to being double booked - Was double booked had to find another place to stay Double booked
- John (8/5): - The hospitality was great! Our room was clean and if we were hungry or wanted coffee in the morning we could have had that too! King sized bed was comfortable!
- Anne (4/5): - Room smelled of smoke even though it was advertised as a non smoking room. Refrigerator was filthy and smelled as though it hadn’t been cleaned in months.
- Todd (2/5): - I will be requesting a refund. The service was the only thing that keeps me from saying this was my worse travel experience
- Dana (8/5): - Nice room and beds but I reserved a room with a king size bed and got one with 2 full size beds. They were comfortable beds. And not much breakfast choices. Staff was friendly.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Don't look like much but we were just to sleep and we were comfortable
- Joshua (8/5): - It was the least expensive place in the area, because it’s in need of the ongoing remodeling. It was perfect for our needs for a night’s stay.
- Lorraine (8/5): -
Just happy to have a close by place to sleep
My g
- Marijayne (1/5): - Nothing. I booked the room and drove all the way there for him to tell me they were completely booked and then he messaged me in the app after leaving to tell me it was booked
- Hiedi (4/5): Bad experience nasty rooms - First they gave our reserved room to someone else and told me I pushed a wrong button when reserving it I reserved a double room with two double beds for four people and they were trying to say I reserved a single room with one king size bed. I pulled up my reservation to prove I did not and they lied to me saying the other people reserved that room a week before me when just before that they told me those people had just called to reserve a room and I did tell them that was not what they had just told me before that and he did not realize what he had already told me the ice maker was broke the fridge smelled like rotting fish. the rooms were dirty and when we went to sit on the bed it was broke and there was a hole in it my son in law had to sleep in a hole. I will never stay at this motel ever again. There wasn’t even an offer for any of my money back and as we was checking in I’m not sure what was going on with some other guests but they told them they do not give any refunds at all. Between the bed rail and box spring on the bed was a bunch of dirt and nasty stuff. I will never stay there ever again. Very disappointing and nasty.
- Glenn (8/5): - Ok. Clean rooms. Front desk closes at 10 pm.
- thomson (1/5): Didnt stay - I did not stay they overbooked and told me 4 hour after I put the reservation in. And refused to let me cancel with out a fee. Even though it was there fault, would never recommend to anyone. If I could give it a lower review I would
- Richard (6/5): - This hotel is older and could use some upgrades but it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- Jill (6/5): - This is an older building. The carpet was sticky and the bed looked like the sheets hadn't been changed. I had to sleep on top of it. Couldn't bring myself to crawl in it.
- Eric R (1/5): 0 - Terrible Terrible scary experience
- Lynne (3/5): I'll never go back or recommend Granada. - This facility is old, dirty and badly neglected. The walk to my room was on a slanting sinking balcony. Mattresses are ancient and uneven. Everything
- Michael (8/5): Business Trip - Greg in the front desk was very helpful and was a lot of help The hotel in itself is an average condition I thought having two remotes was confusing and unnecessary be nice I had a bigger TV
- Stacey (2/5): Terrible - They gave our room away and then gave us another room just for that one to be used and afrer that we said forget it and demanded our money back
- Taylor (1/5): Didn’t happen because it was horrifying. - Nothing. It was really scary. It had a lot of people who made you very uncomfortable while you were getting out of the car.
- Jessica (2/5): - Cockroaches and treated their employees terrible
- Prabakaran (1/5): Filthy and Dirty. This is a vacation area in the summer. You get what you pay for. - Convenience Dirty
- Robin (6/5): - It was clean enough & clerk was very friendly, but the room smelled awful of cigarette smoke.
- Larry (10/5): - Old school
- Jesse (6/5): - Staff was friendly and offered a restaurant suggestion in town.
A lack of usable outlets was annoying. Happy i decided to bring my own power pack.
I'm guessing the previous occupants were smoking weed in the room, because it stank.
- Gina (10/5): - Very welcoming staff, Greg our host was great!
- Joshua (10/5): - It was great over all small room and bathroom and no breakfast but cereal and coffee but the simple things are the best
- Jonah (2/5): Sleep in your car before going here - It was the only hotel available during the ice storm. My other option was to sleep in my service truck, I rather would have. Absolutely disgusting, got to the hotel at 5AM after working all night and it had no outlets, the coldest water. Bedding was disgusting, had stains, hair, dandruff all over it. The room door lock didn't work, and the slider was barely hanging on the wall. Whole place reeks of cigarettes including the bedding.
- Brian (1/5): Bad -
- David (6/5): - did the job
- Rodrigo (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kenny (6/5): - It’s average. Not a Marriott or Hilton but affordable. We did have a dirty towel (that makes you begin to question other things). The floor above (2nd floor) was excessively noisy. We heard every time they walked across the room.
- Billy (6/5): - It was in a convenient location. Our beds looked like they had been slept in already. The upstairs second-floor walkway/room entrance looks like it is ready to fall off the building!! There is a considerable slope away from the building, and the railing does not look secure.I would not want to trust it to hold up if you slip and need the railing to save you.I can not believe that the upper platform would pass a safety inspection. There is NO WAY! The older gentleman at the front desk was pleasant to deal with
- LaFae (10/5): - The only problem we had was no safety handles in the shower. As we have mobility issues and the tub sides are very tall. The Hand washing area was large making washing up very easy and comfortable. The man at check in was VERY helpful and kind.
- spencer (6/5): - I did not care for standing in the lobby for more than 15 minutes waiting for the person to show up to check us in. No sign on the door saying if he was coming back or what. The room was clean, but the bathroom was messy. Hair in the drain, used soap still in the tub holder, rooms are non smoking, yet all night, all you smelled was cigarette smoke. Only stay here if you have no other option. The good side was you are right off 131. And there is a grocery store and fast food if you need it
- Rose (7/5): Good -
- Gordon (6/5): - very little hot water ran for about 6 minutes before it warmed. Grounds in very poor shape most vegetation dead.
People friendly enough.
- Rose (7/5): Good -
- Karin (1/5): Bad - Didn’t feel safe - other guests hanging out in parking lot-not very clean-seemed like a drug hangout
- Robert (6/5): - Clean but they are in the middle of renovation
- Nicholas (2/5): - The room was disgusting with dead bugs everywhere. Very noisy, the free breakfast only consists of like 3 things, not worth any money but there was no other vacancies and it wasn’t refundable. Will not be staying here ever again. Mentioned bugs to the staff and they responded with “sorry about that.” They had people digging through trash for cans. The overhang with rooms looks like it’s ready to collapse.
- Voyager62974361834 (2/5): Not a motel to ever use for travel - Arrived at 4:30 and again at 6:30 = no one at front desk for check in, finally located a second phone number, called and two ladies arrived to assist my check in. The external appearance of the motel remains me of a slum house. Breakfast included is a joke better yet a sham - pitiful. Very disappointed with this motel.
- Donna (7/5): Good - Ok Clean up on property
- Gwen (4/5): - Telephone didn't work
TV wasn't working
Frig not working
Light broken
They did fix the TV and frig
Put in new phone after 3 days
- shirley (2/5): - what appeared to be a minor at desk when checking
person checking me in said she works at Rodeway across the street, who said she didn't have any training to be there. had her young son with her. Son told to call his brother to start cooking their meal. at first she said all the rooms were occupied and it looked like my room door was cracked open, then she said it wasn't. disturning and distressing. i was afraid to wait for someone to come and help me, i was alone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place just to sleep
- maria (6/5): - close to Lake Torch
The little cooler in room was dirty.
- Sharon (2/5): - Simply awful. Didn't stay there.
- Deborah (2/5): - Bates motel
- Jim (7/5): Good -
- william (10/5): - Awesome!
- John (6/5): - The room itself was fine for a budget motel. We stayed in a 1st floor rm and there are rooms above.. the only bad thing was that someone was dancing or stomping around at 3am for about an hour? Really loud!! Almost sounded purposeful and it woke everyone up.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away - The lady who checked us in appeared to be drunk. She was drinking and smoking with (?) another guest. The room was dirty (the children’s clothes and feet were black from the carpet) and several items were broken in the room. Old and outdated. Do not recommend.
- Howard (1/5): Bad - She gave us a key to someone else’s room
- Verified traveler (2/5): Should not be open for business - Dirty. Garbage everywhere. No one in the office with a note on the desk they would be back in a few minutes. Called the number which was the office phone and no call forwarding. Left after an hour of waiting. They also had a note on the door to excuse the current condition as they renovate? Doubt that it's being renovated. They have no business taking money from people online.
- Christine (2/5): Don't stay there - The shower was good. It was a dump. The exterior was run down and the stairway was dirty. As we went into the room threshold came off. The look of the room was shabby and I don'tmean shabby chic. The lamps were unplugged. The lighting over the sink was dim. There were no amenities including bar soap. There was no real lobby with an attendant. It appeared that spme occupants lived there full time. Fortunately the room was clean. We stayed because we couldn't get a refund. I won't be using booking.com again if this is a sample of their "economy" lodging. We extended our stay down the road at a Roadway. OMG it was so much nicer and less expensive. Don't stay at the Granada!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay somewhere else - Its a very old place so I didn't expect it to be perfect, but I found hairs in the sheets along with orangish- red stains. The location isn't so great, either. I felt unsafe.
- Gary (1/5): Horrible - Nothing All of it
- William (1/5): Reimburse - There was nobody there to check in, we waited almost an hour, nobody showed, I called 3 time no answer.
So we had to leave no choice, no place to go
The office was open, nobody there
- Jessica (2/5): - It was late when we arrived and no one was around to check up into a room. The was a sign with 2 phone numbers, we tried both many times no one answered.
- Richard (4/5): Not recommended - Very shabby hotel especially for what they charged per night. If you only need a place to sleep sketchy at best.
- Sharon P (6/5): - The place is very dated. The towels were nice, the bedding old fashioned the side walk in front of the rooms needs a serious cleaning, but the clerks were friendly and helpful.
- Bernie (4/5): - Not impressed for $120.
- Judith (2/5): - My advice- don’t book this property. It is run down, smelly, smoke filled, terrible.
- Alessandra (6/5): - The place is fair for the price, very cheap compared to other places around, but the place is old, dirty, but silent, calm, peaceful. I had a good night's sleep. I liked the bed, but I didn't like the sheets, but the bed is comfortable.
- Dante (1/5): Bad - Nothing was very disappointing, nothing like they show on their pictures or website. Everything was gross looking, and we arrived and immediately canceled and refused to pay any cancelation fees.
- Monica (4/5): - Didn’t like how doors barely shut
- dantej275 (2/5): Blind date- Deceiving - I booked this motel, and when we arrived, it looked nothing about what they showed on the website. It's rundown and looks terrible. We immediately canceled, and the office personnel assured me of no charges. It was very disappointing and frustrating to think that they were allowed to have an old picture on the website rather than the reality that we drove into. We have driven 3 hours for this dump.
- 758jacqueem (2/5): Avoid - Room looked very clean and nice when I booked and paid for 2 weeks. No hot water and noise and parties all night so I never got sleep. I reported both problems multiple times and nothing was done. If I hadnt paid 2 weeks in advance I could have afforded to go somewhere else. Granadas owner owns 2 other Kalkaska motels so I didnt have an affordable option. Stay on south end of Kalkaska or go to another town.
- Jonathan (9/5): great overall experience! - great customer service. nothing really
- Haynes (8/5): Very good - Affordable. Clean. Convenient. Good value for what it is.
- Delmar (2/5): Very poor - Friendly people I think they live there People living Inn motel making noise all night making marijuana smell through the whole place
- sheryl (10/5): - The people in the room above ys were constantly wslking around until 2 a.m. The floor (our ceiling) was very cresky. It kept me awake. Also the heater, off and on also very loud.
- Kardiea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ann (1/5): They had bed bugs - They had bed bugs. They had bed bugs
- Leigh (8/5): Very good -
- *brittany (1/5): Didn't stay because it wasn't worth the f****** risk - Nothing the s. O. B. Never even answered the phone to come and let me check in I had to go to a completely different hotel last second Lack of communication and the abundance of people that were living in a hotel versus just staying a couple nights
- George (4/5): Terrible beds. - Our main problem was with the beds. Ours was what I refer to as an automatic snuggle bed. Meaning it sank so much in the middle we rolled towards each other automatically. Not ALWAYS a bad thing.... but I'd like to have a choice.
- Don (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (5/5): Passable - Friendly staff Gluten free options for breakfast would be nice.
- Clark (8/5): Very good -
- William (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joanne (8/5): - It was fine.
- Brian (2/5): - It was absolutely disgusting! My daughter saw a cockroach climbing the wall hear where she was sleeping. The front door did not latch correctly and blew open in the middle of the night, and there was no lock on the window. Our room had to be repaired from prior guests who trashed the place, and a half eaten Chicken was left in the microwave for days! The towels and bed linens were dirty as well. Noisy neighbors, and walls so thin you could hear the loud music and smell the pot smoke from upstairs. Cereal and packaged cookies for breakfast. Nope, never again!"
- Yette (6/5): - The room was very clean. However, the exterior of the hotel made it very unappealing.
- Charles (7/5): Motel got the job done. - Good location. Room clean and well equipped. Outward appearances were poor. Door flimsy with the minimum locking system for an outside door.
- Douglas (8/5): Very good - Able to book only 1 night on a weekend. Already booked an upcoming weekend at this motel. Limited electrical outlets since my wife and I both have sleep machines. I always pack an extension cord when traveling should this happen.
- Kristen (1/5): Terrible!! I never stayed at this resort. Shame on Booking.com!! - I was not able to stay at the motel when I arrived but my reservation that I made days before was not on the computer screen which ruined my vacation in that area. My reservation was not listed in the computer even with my reservation number. Me and my friend has no where to stay in the Kalkaska area it ruined our trip and we had to return home because we could not find anywhere to stay in Kalkaska for the weekend, as there are only a few motels and they were charging $200.00 or more for one night and we said forget it so we headed back home. This motel did nothing to correct the problem and a confirmation number was shown to the clerk it didn't matter my name was not even in there. Shame on Booking com for not doing their job!! We had no room reserved by Booking.com.
- Mary (2/5): - The price was way too expensive for the condition of the rooms and we weren’t told if there was a breakfast.
- Alex (10/5): - The front desk woman was extremely friendly and the room was better than most of higher end hotels ive stayed at.
- John (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (5/5): It's cheap. - The price was reasonable. The place is on its way to falling apart.
- James (7/5): Good -
- William (2/5): Not nice. - Location Smelled old and moldy
Bugs and ants on floor in bathroom
Door locks not secure (had someone try to get in our room at 6:45am)
Very run down accommodations. Need to remodel then they could charge for it.
