- George (10/5): Very Enjoyable - Very pleasant staff. Lower level Chinese restaurant was excellent despite that staff was not very attentive and we needed to be patient until someone came. The Horizon Lounge was a big disappointment. Selection for breakfast very limited.

The staff is amazing , talented and friendly and well trained The rooms are very top notch! Breakfast room is a treat . I wonder if we could have assorted cheese, such as a Brie or a manchego !

- Tatiana (10/5): Shangri La Lhasa was our oasis before our Kora around Kailas, we had a great experience of comfort and beauty. - View to Potala Palaca was amazing. Great Spa, delicious and various food. Friendly personal. And especially Ashley and Tsering. Just two people could speak English. It was very hard even to order to cup of cappuccino and or to ask any question.

- Diego (8/5): Good to medium - It’s a nice hotel and a comfortable room. The staff were nice but very few of the staff spoke English. Club sandwich was excellent. My observations are that the hotel looks a shade run down or cheaply built. The corners of the elevators were badly patched up, same with several other details also on the bar terrace. The food in the western restaurant was not appealing. There was sushi (us it westerners?) which tasted artificial and the mountains of meats very greasy. Could only be my taste buds! On the whole not value for money.

The hotel was impeccable, beautiful and spacious rooms, and an unbelievable breakfast buffet Ashley Chen who works at the front desk was the best professional ever, so polite, fast, helpful and kind! I highly recommend this hotel.
- Grace (9/5): Will definitely stay here again - The room i was given was comfortable and well appointed. I can see the Potala Palace in the distance. Appreciate the daily fruits, water and 2 portable oxygen canisters provided daily. The humidifier and oxygen machine was very much appreciated. Staff are friendly, and tries their best to help/understand what is asked of them - one even had used a “translator” to be able to communicate in english. Efforts appreciated. Noted that a lot of the staff are fluent enough.

- Evonlpp (3/5): Poor - 感謝 GM Claudia Lee, 為我們房間悶熱房間作出改善 The hotel is old, just like any other 5 stars in Lhasa. Hotel staff are not very attentive. Room temperatures are not comfy for our stays. Luckily, hotel GM resolved the problem. We checked out at 4 am in the morning to catch our flight. Much appreciated to pack a simple breakfast for us on the road, but why do they choose a whole MANGO, an apple, and peal for breakfast?

- Verified traveler (6/5): Chinese service / Hong Kong prices - A good option for stays in Lhasa. Located in new Chinese area, but adjacent to Potala Palace. Hotel is in good condition. But prices are very high (think Hong Kong levels) but with service standards far below. Very few staff in hotel, and very few can speak even basic English. Horizon Club very poor value. One staff person only. Cannot speak any English. Very basic food offering. St Regis might be a better option? Certainly closer to Tibetan quarter.

- Marc (10/5): An oasis at high altitude - We stayed at the Shangri La Lhasa on our recent trip to Tibet. It is located a bit out of the way in terms of sightseeing and restaurants, but the oxygen bar was so appreciated on our second night. The food in the hotel is a bit expensive, but the staff allowed us to create our own menu for snacks on the night of our arrival, and then provided us with a bit of a discount for our breakfast buffets. Very accommodating. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable.
- Soren (4/5): Only location was good. Hotel was dreadful - From the moment we checked in there were mistakes. We booked 2 rooms several month in advance. First they could not find more than 1 room. Despite request we were given 2 rooms on separate floors. Rooms were ok and large but old. Aircon could only heat and each day we had 26 degrees in the room to sleep in. When we told them room was too hot they told us just to open windows. Only you could not. Only housekeeping could open the windows. After asking for aircon 5 times we gave up! Staff spoke poor English and each day in restaurant we had to ask for the same thing 5 times before it arrived. I would not stay at this hotel. I would choose st regis nex time!!

- Jimmy (10/5): Best hotel is Lhasa - Excellent hotel! I got sick because of te height and luckily they had a doctor available 24/7. The facilities and staff service are top notch, cannot complain. You know what you're getting with a Shangri-La and this one won't let you down trust me.

It is a fantastic amenity and along with the cheerful and experienced doctor, it is a lifesaver for clueless low altitude people who fly in and over exert themselves.

The hotel is very quite during the night. With Good in-room dining with affordable price. Good location with great SPA and an oxygen bar for free. Five star hotel. Will come again. That's all I got. - wai shing (8/5): A hotel with the high ShangriLa standard - the room is spacious, but the setup is a bit weird. they line up 2 couch along the windows but does not offer a office chair and a office desk that allows one to do some work with my notebook. I had to move a big wooden box they lined in front of one of the beds as a chair for me to do some simple work on my notebook. I guess the hotel is trying to tailor to local chineses, thus the mattress is quite firm. they have a moisternizer next to the bed, but there is no instruction as to how to refill and i also noticed the water container is not regularly cleaned (can see some brown stains in the water container). I cannot appreciate why the hotel put that next to the bed as it can be quite noisy at night. The toilet is also spacious, but does not have a bathtub. the window is all locked and the room temp at night is quite high, my daughter has to remove the feather quilt and just use the quilt cover for the night. i dined in ShangPalace during my whole stay in the hotel. Dylan, the manager is a very nice guy to talk to. The food is very delicious and well prepared. Even deserts is prepared on the spot. I used the spa twice. Really relaxing, but the pool is closed for maintenance. The gym is well equiped but I dare not use it, worry that lack of oxygen during exercise. Finally, I found the oxygen bar is really good for me to recoup some rest as i could not really sleep at night.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Recommended - Surprisinglg superior to the St Regis in terms of service staff and efficiency. The 24h oxygen room was a bonus. Room had a great view but not soundproof from the bar/restaurant so you could hear the band at night. Decor is a bit dated and buffet breakfast could use a refresh in offerings. Still it's comfy stay in Lhasa even if it's not the same class as the rest of the hotel chain's properties in bigger Asian cities

Hotel ist fast neu, zeigt aber nach 2 Jahren bereits deutliche Spuren der Abnutzung; das liegt wohl an den zahlreichen chinesischen Gästen...Mit dem Zug Z21 würde ich nicht wieder fahren, es sei denn man liebt den Duft von übergelaufenen Toiletten...Luxuszug war einmal

- Verified traveler (8/5): Much better than 3.5 stars - I chose the Shangri-la for the chain's reputation & my previous experiences with them, and I got most of what I was expecting. Comfortable & spacious room with a view of Potala Palace, nice amenities, nice service, very good fitness facilities and a great massage at the spa. English is not understood nor spoken by all the staff, so it can take time to get what you want, but it's not a major problem. Fitness facilities & spa were great and the "oxygen room", which is specifically designed to help adjust to the altitude of Lhasa, was a nice extra. Major sights are within walking distance. Gift shop has nice items but exponentially more expensive than similar things in the market. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return to the Shangri-la whenever possible.
- Martina (8/5): Lovely hotel with many amenities - We spent five nights here. It is not close enough to walk to the old town but is a short cab ride away. The facilities are nice but the staff is seriously undertrained. Every request is a challenge, from making a phone call to ordering room service. The oxygen lounge was a welcome respite.
- Vicky (6/5): Not a 5 star Hotel - In all fairness, I left a note at checkout requesting that the Hotel management contact me. I have waited more than a week. The Hotel has all the potential of really being a 5 star stay but there are two big areas lacking. First is the food service. When you obviously have left over food on the buffet, it takes away form the higher quality food. The restaurant staff need a short course in English as several did not know the word Menu. Second, the massage I had at the spa was so poor I would barely rank it above a visit to an American Massage School. It was nothing like the description and it was obvious the girl was too tired, and too hungry to do a good job. An expensive disappointment. On the Plus side, the front desk and bellhop/concierge staff were great. The oxygen lounge was very pleasant and really helped with adjusting to the high altitude.
- William (4/5): The worst ShangriLa we have stayed in - This was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a ShangriLa hotel. The leisure complex is dirty, many of the facilities are not working, and the staff seem to have no interest in addressing any of these issues. Service in the restaurant is slow, often sullen, and the food barely average. Whilst some individual staff are clearly trying to do their best, there is a clear lack of management which urgently needs rectified at this hotel.

- Jeremy (10/5): Best hotel in Lhasa - The Shangri-La Lhasa is clearly an outstanding property, with well-trained and enthusiastic staff. It is outrageous that the hotel doesn't have any no-smoking sections in any of its restaurants --- but then again, neither do any of its competitors. Once they fix this glaring oversight, and once they install a printer somewhere in the hotel (that guests can use to print their boarding passes), the hotel will be truly a first-class hotel fully deserving of the Shangri-La brand name.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Newly opened but doesn't look like that - We stayed 4 days and have made 2 bookings: the first 2 days directly at Shangri-La, the following 2 days via hotels.com. This was of course a bit confusing, but when checking-in the lady at the hotel desk managed it. Nevertheless coming back at the 3rd day (2nd booking) in the afternoon we could not enter our room. We had to explain again. Next day was the same. You should drink a lot in the high altitude of Lhasa, but there were only 2 bottles of water in the room, so you always had to ask for more. The hotel was opened a few month ago but doesn't look like, e.g. tiles at the terrace were broken, have a lot of staints. The staff was friendly but a little bit "shy". Breakfast was very good.
