Guest Reviews
- Hatsuru (6/5): cost of low price - the check-in process was not easy, because the front door was locked at 21:00, there was no one at the reception desk, and the manager over the phone did not give me clear advice about how to get into the property.
quite a small room, with almost no space to open my suitcase.
also, the bathroom, which was also small, had terrible smell. on the second day, the cleaning staff stopped the ventilation fun during the daytime and the room had terrible smell when I got back to the hotel in the night.
all these bad factors could be considered to be the price of low price. the hotel is located at a pretty convenient place (near Mong Kok station and Price Edward station), but still offers quite low price.
- Adam (10/5): - Felt safe and was good for the price. Only a block away from Mong Kok MTR station, so it’s good if you need a place that feels fairly central and connected. Staff was friendly!
- Glen (10/5): - Location in Mong Kok. Perfect.
- KAM TONG (6/5): - Very convenient situated for shop, food and travel.
- WILLIAM P (6/5): - convienently locate
- Linda (8/5): Brilliant for the money. - Friendly Staff and Owner.
If you are looking for no frills, good value accommodation in HK then this is good.
Airport bus stops right outside.
Mongkok MTR a five minute walk.
My room was right by reception desk so could be noisy at times but after full days exploring HK I was too tired to be bothered.
I would definitely stay again.
- Shuji (10/5): - Very recommended hotel
- Shuji (10/5): - This hotel is easy access to shopping and sightseeing area.
- Lobsang (8/5): - Customer Service was good. Friendly staff. Generally a decent low budget hostel accommodation.

- Verified traveler (10/5):
- sunnyng88 (2/5): Cheap as it gets….if u don’t mind!,, - Cheap as it gets……….if u don’t mind.
1st and foremost it is “definitely “ not a hotel!, it’s a very very low standard hostel.
2. The hot water only lasted 5 mins max, then the water turns cold
3. The shower head was leaking, in which u could hear during the night when u sleeping
4. The panels are rotten away, so very poor maintenance if any!
5. The electrically plugs are NOT safe!
6. The original rooms air con broke, so was luckily given another room
7. Very strong musk smell within the rooms, so window was left open to release bad odours
8. Once windows was closed, the traffic noise from outside was bad (even though I was on the 9th floor) so no proper nights sleep
As you can read, it was a awful stay, you have been warned. Yes I did try to get full refund but management rejected request and no refund was given. So I stayed at my friends place on the sofa instead, for the remaining part of the holiday.
- Chun Wai (8/5): - Good value for money in Hong Kong, Ok for short stay, clean and convenient location
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Helpful staff and clean property. Location was great and extremely convenient.
- Philip (8/5): - Located in the heart of the shopping area, ideal for shopping browsing and catering. Airport bus and other transportation can be reached. Room service is preferable. Enjoy the 16 days living with.
- A (6/5): - The location is very convenient as the next MTR station is only 50 m away.
- Klaus (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Great lokation. Close to airport bus and laundry. If you book ordinarily via expedia you will not get a room with a window. Be prepared to pay extra for a room with a window and during holidays. otherwise value for money and a great stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The manager was friendly and honest. - Hong Kong has become extremely expensive since my previous visit eleven years earlier. This time I had to be in the city for two weeks and had to shift between several different accommodations to try to keep within budget. On particularly busy days, such as during an expo or on weekends, it becomes especially difficult to find anything remotely affordable. Among the several places I stayed in, Geo Home Holiday Hotel was one of the better experiences. Like all of them, the rooms are very small and basic, but here at least they put some effort into making them more cheerful by putting some attention into the decor, etc. The Mongkok area also has some interesting things a short walk from the hotel - such as the Goldfish Market.
- norscio (4/5): It Was Passable - Would Try For Something Better - This is what's known as a 'guest house' on a major street in Mong Kok. It's a block of small rooms on the upper floor of a high-rise building, located among other similar guest houses. It's quite convenient to the metro, buses and the reasonably-priced airport bus that serves HK International Airport. There are many shops and convenience stores nearby but it's not a touristy area. It felt safe as did nearly every area through which I walked. You have to walk about two miles down to the harbor front before you see many Westerners, tourists, etc., but I had no problem doing that.
It's not very well-marked and you have to keep an eye out for the small sign. Elevators are located in an open-air walkway, and are also small and can get quite crowded. Staff is reasonably friendly and spoke a fair amount of English, which was appreciated. I had to leave a small cash deposit for the metal key and TV remote.
The room was quite small as expected. There was an old, twin bed, 15' flat-screen TV mounted to the wall, a night stand - which was filled with old slippers - a shelf with tea and an electric kettle and a some hooks and another shelf on the wall. I was given one shabby towel but could have asked for more. There was a small hot water heater for the shower that took about eight minutes to heat up and was suitable. The bathroom was basically a shower stall with a small sink and toilet in it, much like what you'd find on a boat or camper, which is apparently common in this city where space is at a premium. No problem for me. Toothbrushes, body wash and shampoo packets were provided. There was an interior A/C unit and no windows. The room did not feel terribly clean and it smelled like a basement which was unpleasant. Though rooms are private, quarters are close and cramped and I could hear the desk clerk snoring through the vents at night, even with the A/C running. Wifi was not very dependable.
I think next time I'll try to find similar lodging at Chung King Mansions which is more conveniently located and from what I observed, much nicer than it was years ago. I was surprised by how much THAT place apparently has been cleaned up. My main problem here was mustiness and the smell. They could do so many little things to make it more pleasant. If this was all I could get, for the money, I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - There's strange smell but that's probably because I asked for a no window room.
- Chan Ting Lun (4/5):
- Steve (10/5): The center of Monkok - Was surprised at the size of the room but grew to love it as I was only using to sleep or rest from all my walking. Miss Kittie and Eric were great to help out and the staff was friendly to take care of any questions I had. As for its location easy by bus or MTR, literally right there easily seen from the entrance. I was there for this past Chinese New Year's celebration, and looking foward to coming back. Thank you everyone!!!
Steve
- Goh (10/5): Better than expectation - Remember to let the owner to get u in the room with Windows. Room is small but it is better than my expectation. Totally worth for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central location & excellent service! - Beware: Original room booked was a full-size bed with no window. Don't expect to get a window room. Your better off booking a room with 2 twin size beds (regardless if your traveling alone or as a couple) to get a guaranteed room with window. You'll save more in the end. Unfortunately, we paid extra cash upfront ($18usd/day) to upgrade to 2 twin size bed with a window...well worth the upgrade. They claimed that room with window was unavailable when we arrived but we were skeptical that this is true or just a gimmick for us to upgrade. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, service and location was excellent. They went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed and was very helpful. Additionally, location of restaurants, shops and subway are all within walking distance.
- angelaU8447KC (6/5): Basic accommodation in busy Mong Kok - I stayed here for 2 nights as a last minute decision. This was actually a guesthouse which is different to other hotels so the standards are bit lower, but the room was clean and comfortable. The room was quite hot so I turned on the air con, but after a while, the room began to feel too cold, so I turned off the air con and tried to get fresh air from opening the window instead. But I had to close the window as it was so noisy from the traffic, considering it is located on the busy Nathan Road. If noise doesn't bother you then I'd still recommend to stay here as you are literally within the heart of everything in Mong Kok.
- azriec (8/5): Clean cozy room - Picked this place as it was strategically located in Mongkok. Other hotels are given negative review such as very small and dirty and only this place has positive review from many travelers.
Pros - Impeccably clean, close to Mongkok station & many restaurants, hot shower, nice owner
Cons - Lift can be small and takes time (took staircase once as the lift was full and we can see that the building is dirty and not properly managed), small toilet (1mx1.5m - can barely sit properly on the toilet bowl)
The area itself is overcrowded but overall we enjoyed our 2 nights stay in Geo-Home. There are many hotels on the same building. Geo-Home is located on the 9th floor.
- Tatsuji (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Misleading information, bad experience! - Be careful! The double bed room may not have window, although photo suggests there is. It's not stated on the website, very misleading information. I ordered double bed room for window because my cardiac disease, but was asked to pay $200 extra to upgrade to a room with window. The hotel administrator was very rude, very awful experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice owners, good location - nice owners, good location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location in Mong Kok - The hotel room was small but satisfactory. We weren't too picky anyway. As long as we could sleep and shower. Also, the owner/front desk guy was hospitable enough. Geo-home shares the building with other "hotels." Not sure if hotel is really the appropriate term for them. Anyway, the location is very nearby a lot of establishments so - it's okay
- longjie (6/5): Okay stay - Good location and simple room.
- Marie (10/5): Very kind nice staff - The reception staff was so kind, nice and helpful.
Room was small but very clean.
I will come back to stay!!!
- Wayne (10/5): Better than I expected - Would stay again !
- Joseph (2/5): WAY overpriced. - WAY overpriced. Other identical 'hotels' in the same building were 1/2 to 1/3 the price.
- Asia_travelling_star (10/5): Comfortable beds and very convenient location with negotiable rates - Everytime my boyfriend & I stay in HK, we would stay at Geo Home hotel. We love the cleaniless and comfortable bed & room. The location is very convenient, jusy 1 min walk from prince edward mtr and bus stops to everywhere including buses to mainland china.
The room rates are very reasonable and negotiable too!! We also get great customer service from the staff & owners who would bring us to yummy dim sum restaurants and sightseeing after being friends with them. It is impossible to build such friendship and tour guide service if staying in other motels.
Definitely worth spend your stay over there to give it a try.
- Cheyanne (8/5): Cheap and friendly - We enjoyed our stay. It was a cheap and small room where we crashed for the night comfortably. The room was clean and we loved the area. Our host was so friendly. She let us drop off our bags while we explored!
- Lynn (10/5): Right in the middle of the action! - Very small room but has everything you need for a cheap stay in HK, the room was very clean and you are about 3 minutes walk from a Metro....and walking distance to loads of stuff in HK. The lady that owns the hotel is so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
- jullio0725 (4/5): Small overprice room - We are a family of 5, they gave us 2 double bed (how!!!)
the building is old, so as the room and the toilet.
location is ok not to far from the MTR
it was clean, staffs are ok
other than that would prefer to stay in a different place
- lynnetteleelin (8/5): Great Location, Friendly Staff - I stayed here in December 2012 with 3 other friends for 4 nights. It was a pleasant experience and the price is really reasonable as well and the place is clean and neat. The staff were really friendly and even provided us medication when one of my friends fell ill. Location wise, this accommodation is really near the shopping areas, food outlets and even clinics (in case of any emergencies). Unfortunately, the space of the room and the toilet can be really small and may not be comfortable for those who are having a long stay. It is ultimately a good option for travellers who are on a tight budget.
- Markoconnor1984 (6/5): Functional and reasonably priced - Absolutely tiny single room, but it fit the bill for my requirements. It was clean, relatively cheap for HK and in a decent enough location on the Nathan Road. It didn't make any real impression on me one way or the other - functional, basic and reasonably priced.
- zankus (6/5): small room, good location - We stayed here in Nov 2011, didn't expect much for that price, but it was ok. Wouldn't reccomend that place if you are looking for luxury place to stay. Rooms are very small but enough if you come to HK for sightseeing, not for staying in the hotel room. Staff very helpfull. Good location (main road- Nathan rd) ), but still quite hard to find Geo Home Holiday Hotel becouse of to many "the same bulings".
- Dimushevski (2/5): Got cheated by the owner, for HK$1080 you could book a 4 star hotel! - I wouldn't wish this hotel even to my worst enemy! The owner insisted on us paying before she showed us the room. And when we refused to take the room, after we've seen the horror, she didn't want to refund even a penny! At last said she accepted to refund only 70%.
This is the first time that something like this happens to me in HK. And i am a regular HK traveller, since i live in Guangzhou.
This Hotel (dump) is highly NOT recommended!
David
- MikiH (4/5): Crappy and small as any affordable hotel in Hong kong - You never expect anything from HK hotels.. but you still hope for a reasonable price (not reasonable for any other place in the world) you'll get a normal room. No way. No windows, a small bed trapped in 3 walls, no oxygen enough in the room for 2 people. Serioulsly, Is this a hotel?
- XtashidX (10/5): Perfect for what we needed. - I stayed here in jan 2012 with 3 other people.
Took us a while to find the hotel, soo many buildings.
We arrived in the afternoon and all the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Our room had 2 double beds. It wasnt the largest of rooms but we were out most of the day so it was fine for what we needed.
We were on the side of the main road (nathan rd) so it was a bit noisy, but its a major city so would be hard to escape that unless you want to pay a fortune.
The hotel is located in mong kok so took us about 30-40 mins to walk down to the harbour, obviously you can get a taxi or underground.
There is alot of places around mong kok to eat and drink if you want to stay local. The pioneer centre is pretty much opposite the hotel where there is restaurants and shops.
We had a very plesent stay at geo-home. Perfect if you dont want to pay a fortune or stay at the chung king mansion!
- vinnywoon (10/5): Economic, Nice Location, Clean & Friendly Staff - I've been visited Hong Kong twice and this is the MOST good hostel that i never ever regret to stayed. Room was a bit small but it was clean. They provided enough amenities to convenient all guest. Price-reasonable, Amenities-more than enough, Location- center point, Staff-Friendly and helpful.
- acieshell (6/5): Single room is tiny and window-less. - I travelled alone, and put up at Geo-Home. Administratively, yes, your booking isn't confirmed unless you pay a deposit. I was charged HK580 per night for the single room and I felt it was too much for the space offered - yes I know that space is a premium in HK, but this was quite small really.
I took the single room and found it small - i'm about 1.54m tall, and it's really hard to move around once your luggage is in. I had backpacks.
I intended to read in my room, and found that the yellow light wasn't bright enough.
It's almost impossible to eat in the room - unless you don't mind sitting on the bed and eating. The bed is literally next to the toilet - there is a proper wall separating the two spaces - so while it's manageable when the toilet door is closed, it really feels strange munching food on the bed. The toilet was tiny too: Most of the space was taken up by the W.C. and there's very little standing room for the shower.
Yes, it was neat and clean, wifi was good; it was near to Mong Kok MTR and you'd find food and the supermarket nearby. The owners, Kitty and Mr. Tsai, were helpful. Mr Tsai changed a spoilt light bulb readily when I asked him for help to, without much fuss. I also met Hung, a lady who takes charge at the counter sometimes, and she was a nice person too.
- femcastra (6/5): Very friendly, well-located, but basic facilities - We came to Hong Kong not really knowing what to expect from accommodation there. It seems like accommodation can be grouped into 2 categories - hotels where you pay an arm and a leg to stay there and hostel/hotels that are cheap and basic. This hotel is in the second category, but it is not a bad place.
The best parts of this hotel are undoubtedly the location and the friendliness of the staff. It's an easy walk to 2 train stations and the bus to the airport left from just a bit down the street. Not only that, there are markets about a 15 minute walk away and a lot of restaurant options.
As I said, the staff are lovely. We needed to get some laundry done before we left to go to Tokyo, and the man behind the counter went out of his way to take us down the street to find a place that would do our laundry. When one place said that they couldn't do it soon enough, he walked us somewhere else. All up we were walking around for 10 minutes, but I have never had that level of service from front desk support, and we were very appreciative.
All up, our accommodation came to about $52 AUD a night, which is tiny when you consider how big a city Hong Kong is, and how expensive accommodation can be there. For the price, the room was okay. We got a double, which ended up being two single beds put together, and the room was clean enough. The bummer was the bathroom, with the showerhead over the toilet. I was expecting it because I read reviews before we booked, but it was hard to stop the water leaking from the bathroom into the bedroom area.
For budget hostel/hotel accommodation, I don't think you could really get much better in Hong Kong, specially when you hear the horror stories of what goes on in ChungKing Mansions. Luckily this place is far removed from all those horrors, and the people and location are lovely.
If I were travelling on my own, I would probably stay here again, but travelling as a couple I might look for something a little more expensive to get a bit more comfort.
- becgrice (10/5): Highly recommend this clean and friendly hostel - Stayed in the hostel with my husband and 2 young children. We had a room with 2 double beds and ensuite shower room. From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and accommodating, Miss Kitty who owned it was so lovely. The room was small but perfect for us and 2 backpacks. The aircon was on remote control so temp could be changed which was handy, tv on wall with good signal too.The whole place was clean and everyday new towels if needed were given to us. It was a brilliant location. I would very highly recommend this hostel and will be staying there again if we go back. We stayed in another hostel and although room was bigger the service was rubbish compared to this hostel. If you can put up with the small space you get an excellent value for money hostel.
- vipuls98 (6/5): Small, but neat and clean - Geo-Home Holiday Hotel Hong Kong is a small guest house on the 9th floor of a big buiding that has various other hotels & shops. Rooms are usually very small, but thats the case in all hotels in Hong Kong. But the they are neat and clean and have all the necessary things that can be put in a small room like lcd, dryer etc.
Online booking is not possible. Only option is to call the contact mentioned in webpage and send a mail, but that too wont assure you a room. I had booked through email and I also got a confirmation. I also confirmed again one day before reaching hong kong, But when I reached hotel they had given it to some other guests and gave me another room which was 200 dollars more expensive. So word of advice is that dont trust the reservation confirmation.
Location is good as there are direct buses from just outside to airport and also train services to city.
- galwaygirl85 (8/5): Excellent location, good value and clean given hong kong's standard of accommodation - Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner. Great host and rooms were clean and safe. Excellent location beside A21 and MTR. The shower over the toilet was a bit of a shock but expected in Hong Kong based on researching other places! Would definitely recommend this place.
- LPaais (8/5): Superb in its cleanliness and service - I chose this hostel after reading view reviews then set my foot there on Nov 13 2010. The room is tiny but more than enough for a solo traveller like me. First thing that attract my attention is its cleanliness. I am a vinicky person when u are talking about toilet. This one is super. Each room is equipped with bathroom (complete toilettries), TV, water heater. Outside u can use internet, wi fi. The location is not far from Mong Kok MTR Station, also the service from Ms Kitty Choi and Mr Tsai and staff is very excellent, friendly. If u are looking for a budget hostel then I highly recommend this place. Thanks to Ms Kitty and Mr Tsai for their friendly and warm service. Would definitely stay there again when I visit Hong Kong another time :)
- ktinde (10/5): Small, Cramped but Excellent Stay - Geo Home Hostel is an excellent hostel if you do not mind a very cramped room and bathroom, where actually you sit on the comode to have a bath...its that small.....but very very clean. But when one is pinching pennies, nothing could be better. Besides most Hong Kong Hostels are built just this way. The hostel is very central, close to shopping, restaurants, food stalls and Mong Kok station...The staff is ever so friendly and helpful, especially Kitty at the front desk... and you have the use of the computer if you so wish. Being on the 9th floor on a very busy street, the noise is not so bad.
Excellent and value for money if you are not fussy about room size...and one does not expect a swimming pool at this price.
