Guest Reviews
- Julie (10/5): Daytime adventures and relaxed evenings. - The location is beautiful, authentic Caribbean vibes. Very peaceful and beautiful. A cooling breeze is most welcome. The hotel is very pretty and the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. Chef David is available every day for delicious meals. The shower is always the perfect temperature and is very easy to regulate. We love NOT staying in a resort! So peaceful and connected to nature, community and culture. We had a very small rental car and found the roads to be no worse than our home in remote west wales. Other drivers were always considerate. Antigua is amazing AND the highlight of our wonderful trip was stingray city. That’s walking distance from the Ellen Bay Inn. Eco kayaking, again walking distance was great too! We dived and snorkelled every day, zip lining through jungle, beach buggy adventures, horse riding treks…we did it all! Remember, wherever you stay on the island, some activities will be 30 minutes drive away. Renting a car is a good idea if you want to explore this wonderful island! This family run Inn is just the best!
- Ritva and Ilpo (10/5): - A place with good vibes. A place to remember! Trevor and Sharon really made us feel at home and chef David is such a mesmerizing personality (if he doesn't adopt us, we will adopt him ;)). Thank you for making our stay so lovely and memorable. -
- Julian (10/5): - The owners Sharon and Trevor were such lovely people and made us feel so welcome.
The room was spacious and clean and bed was comfortable. Nothing
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Anastasia (1/5): - The staff were extremely friendly, chatty and welcoming. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a shock. the rooms were clearly not cleaned prior to our check-in.
There was hair on the towels and the bedsheets.
multiple dead insects under the beds that clearly hadn't been wiped in months
our friends who stayed in a separate room had so many insects living under their bed they had to sleep in our room as it was unsleepable.
this is coming from a group who does a lot of hiking/camping out etc. we understand having a cockroach or spider or two is normal in these settings, but this was on a completely different level and clearly showed the lack of regular cleaning of the rooms.
I also found a hair in my omelette at breakfast the next morning.
very sad to have had this experience as it's clearly run by a very nice team otherwise.
- Kamciul (10/5): Rodzinny hotelik w malowniczej wiosce nad zatoka - Jest to mały rodzinny hotelik. Prowadzą go bardzo mili i pomocni ludzie.
- Arthur (10/5): - Staff, views, cleanliness and meals were all fantastic. I will be coming back.

Impec !

- Danila (10/5): - Lo staff gentile e sempre presente, ci hanno aiutato in tutto e sempre sorridenti. Vicino all' aereoporto e a 30'dalla capitale.
Ottimo rappprto qualità prezzo, il punto forte.
Grazie alla famiglia di antigua . Nulla.
- Michael (5/5): Not value for money. - A bed to rest after long flight. Cold shower, broken windows,
Pyszne śniadanka i piękne widoki z tarasu restauracji .
- Lakeisha (8/5): Great Vacay stay - The hosts/owners were friendly. Service was great. Very accommodating No comment
- Josianne (8/5): - Very lovely, will definitly stay there again Clean, comfortable and staff very helpful
- Sparks (10/5): - The food was great, and the location was quiet and feel safe
- elron (10/5): I had a wonderful experience here. The place is very clean, the bed is comfortable, and the location - clean, the bed is comfortable, and the location is peaceful with a beautiful view. The owner is friendly and welcoming, which made my stay even better. Overall, this place is definitely awesome! Nothing
- Paula (7/5): Comfortable stay, room - Very clean, friendly, lovely breakfast. A little out the way, car required
- Kavane (10/5): - I loved the scenery and how quiet the environment was, a pleasant breeze and a neo centric atmosphere.
- Natalie V (10/5): - The hostess did her best to be accommodating and helpful
- Geneva (10/5): - Its away from big city. Clean, host was excellent and kind. She said its a family owned restaurant and hotel. We stayed one night prior to our big all inclusive location. It's nice to stay with a family place and she can cook excellent. She worked for Marriott for 15 years too.
- Curtis (8/5): Very good -
- Sharma (10/5): - Owner and staff made me feel at home. Sincere heart felt stay the food was great
- Simone (10/5): - Beautiful place. Fabulous scenery. It is located right by the sea side. Quiet and peaceful. Great customer service. Definitely will be going back again
- Sara (4/5): Kind owner, but hotel needs to be more cared for - EDITED (June 2nd, 2025): As soon as I wrote about my experience here, I was contacted by the owner via whatsapp. She refused to admit the room was dusty and dirty, and said "mosquitoes are not my control" and "you should have stayed at a five-star property, of which I'm sure you couldn't afford". I felt very unconfortable and think it's a pity that some hosts seem unable to accept their faults and improve their overall service :( ...
The owner was kind and helpful. On our 2nd day, we asked for a kettle since we wanted to drink tea in the room and she brought it immediately. We also enjoyed the views of the surrounding nature. Unfortunately our room hadn't been properly cleaned. We found dust on the furniture and the entire room (and specially the bathroom) was full of mosquitoes. The owner gave us some spray on our 2nd night, but it wasn't enough. Every night at around 10 pm we heard noises on the roof, we were pretty sure it was rats just wondering around, so we weren't confortable leaving our room in the evening. We heard them throughout the night, which made our stay not very relaxing...
- Ntima-wangu (10/5): Wonderful place to call home for a week - We had a wonderful time at Ellen Bay Inn. Great value for money. The bed was super comfortable and our hosts were very friendly and made us wonderful home cooked food. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner there. All at a very reasonable price. Great views. We had a car so it was very easy for us to get to the Inn and also explore the island. I reckon you probably do need a car or taxi to get here. But that wasn’t a problem for us. It’s a family business and we felt right at home! Thank you for having us!
- Victoria (10/5): - Great environment.
Staff were friendly and hospitable
Room looks just as it is in pictures
- Laurie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saif (10/5): - I had a wonderful experience at Ellen Bay Inn
- Hon (10/5): An Amaz-Inn-g Stay! - Thank you Sharon for accomodating our needs for a slightly later check out. Everyone is so friendly here, rooms are well decorated and comfortable. We really loved our short stay with you and wish we had more time!
- D'Jonya (10/5): - My stay at Ellen Bay was very relaxing. I came to the property when everyone else was leaving which made my stay peaceful. Food can be made to order on property which was super convenient and affordable, all you have to do is order ahead. Transportation was available for an extra fee from the airport and that driver ended up being my driver for the duration of my stay (I appreciate you Trevor). Staff is super friendly and the property is located less than 5 minutes walk to the sting ray excursion which is discounted if you're staying at this property along with the turtle excursion which I missed out on. Super affordable if you're in a budget.
- Asante (10/5): Perfect !! - Staff (Edith) was very friendly . The location is close to a lot of attractions, very quiet and secure are . Enjoyed the stay. Very clean as staff clean everyday. Absolutely loved it !!
- Ebony (10/5): Exceptional - My stay at Ellen Bay Inn in St. Philip's, Antigua, was very short, due to me travelling to a neighbouring island but it was enjoyable. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway, this is the place.
Ellen Bay Inn is a family-run business, and the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff truly stood out.
The bedrooms are very spacious, with big, comfortable double beds. The inn also has a small, intimate cafe where they serve breakfast.
I would definitely recommend Ellen Bay Inn to other travelers seeking a relaxing and personalized experience in Antigua
- Trond (9/5): Superb - The place the people the food and the service Big problems of sleeping at night because of much noise from dogs and other animals in the local neighbourhood.
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. The food was all very good. The setting is lovely. I really enjoyed my stay. Best to have your own car while staying here.
- Anneasha (10/5): The room was lovely and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. - The view from the balcony and tranquility. N/A
- Shayne (10/5): Exceptional - The welcome when we arrived was lovely. Our room was very nice, with a smart TV and comfy bed.
Breakfast was very good, really enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the beautiful view.
We were offered a shuttle to the beach or airport, making our stay extra convenient.
Antigua is a beautiful friendly place, and the Ellen Bay inn encompasses that fully.
- Asim (10/5): - Very nice place
- Shanika (10/5): Exceptional - Location is good for exploring and is situated right next to Sting ray city
- Shanika (10/5): Exceptional - The staff, the inn and the food just simply amazing
- Chrystal (10/5): - Everyone was lovely and made me feel like family
- MINDY MICHELLE (8/5): - Property is quaint, great food offered for breakfast and be certain you know if you will be eating dinner there by 4 to place order, otherwise you may not have the opportunity. Smoking is allowed anywhere (not in rooms)on the property so be prepared if you’re not a smoker. If you’re driving, parking and streets around property are very rough. Hosts and chef are so sweet and very helpful. Location is amazing to walking to stingray village and short drive to amazing beaches w bars. USD was widely accepted. Local market and eatery around corner from property too that was a fun local vibe.
- Edward (8/5): Overnight so great for what we needed. - Easy access for the airport. Quiet, good price, friendly, great views.
- Usman (10/5): - It was a pleasant stay
- Robert (8/5): As long as you don’t expect the Hilton and “cordon bleu” at these prices you will be very satisfied. - Value+ ; friendliness, helpfulness of staff. Having ( Trevor ) a friend, a cab driver, an on-site advisor and facilitator for any local facilities at “special rates”. Being made to feel like one of the family by the “hostess” Sharon ( what a treasure). Can’t leave out “Uncle” Evans, a personalised chef and friend. Being made to feel welcome. Having to leave.
- Judith (9/5): Spacious room, lovely owners. - Quiet, off the beaten track, close to Stingray City. Only one bar/cafe down the road to get food. However you can eat at Ellen’s if you pre-order the night before.
- Katerina (8/5): Good stay - The hotel was a 25 minute drive from the airport. Room was clean and the king bed was comfortable. Staff was nice. We were glad we had rented a car to get around since it was hard to get anywhere on foot.
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Sharon and Trevor and other staff great hosts very helpful and couldn't do enough for you..location perfect for Stingrays city and for staying at Ellen Bay you got a good discount on entry Location hasn't many other facilities
- Katharine (10/5): - We have only good things to say about Ellen Bay Inn. It offers personal, local accommodation. The owners are friendly, and accommodating. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available if you are wanting to eat there. The food was local Caribbean food and very good. The property is pet friendly and we were able to walk our dog in the neighbourhood. Ellen Bay Inn does have an airport shuttle which is very handy and well priced. We had a nice overnight stay there in transit to another island and hope to stay at Ellen Bay Inn again next year.
- Samantha (9/5): The staff at Ellen Bay were excellent and extremely knowledgeable and accommodating - I valued being amongst the local population, the property was very cozy, comfortable and inviting
- Ginny (9/5): Superb -
- Dean (10/5): - Great place to stay here.
Very nice family !
- Peter (10/5): - We booked Ellen’s Bay Inn because we wanted to be close to the Stingray City tour operator. It is within walking distance. Judith and sister Sharon were gracious and helpful in providing information, recommendations for local sight seeing opportunities and the perfect ambience in an Inn that is more like being welcomed into their home. They provided us with an excellent breakfast and dinner fare that was on par to any exclusive restaurant on the island.
They attended to all of our needs, as guests.
Both harvested lemongrass from their garden and crafted excellent lemongrass teas for us.
So often we believe it’s the destination and not the people that we meet along the way. This journey was enriched by our stay there.
- Fluffydiva (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Gibbon (10/5): very good - early morning coffee n/a
- Wayne (10/5): Place in the sun with amazing Host & Homemade food - Judith was amazing absolutely amazing host & cook, made us feel absolutely comfortable
- FLAVIA CRISTINA (10/5): A good place to spend the night - We spent a night there, and despite being simple, it really helped us. The owner received us in a very friendly way and although it was a little bit late, she was very kind and prepared us something to eat. The air conditioner was already on in our bedroom and the bedding and the room were totally clean. The bedroom has a nice space and there were two double beds. Regarding the location, it's far from downtown, and if you're looking for restaurants/ cafeterias, they aren't around. Breakfast is available.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - The views were lovely.
- AUBREY (10/5): - Very remote but accommodating
- Kareem (10/5): - Prompt service
- Colquhoun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Herve (10/5): - This is a nice local place to stay. The staff is adorable!
- jared (10/5): - if you plan to visit stingray city, then. I'd suggest staying at this property. super convenient, super nice staff, reasonably priced and good food.
- Joaquín antonio (10/5): - Well we so happy be there, super nice owners and friiendly and professional, and food too. Thanks.
- Michael (4/5): - This was a mistake. Wont return. No service whatsoever on Christmas day. Not even a bottle of water was offered and they fully well knew that a guest was arriving as they left the door open with keys Inside. Nothing was open in the area nor was the cafe open. It was christmas day, what a way to share a happy cheerful welcome. The bathroom had nothing in it but toilet paper and liquid hand soap. The shower glass wall had a massive crack and someone thought it was smart to use paint and draw over the crack in a shameful attempt to hide this.
- Yvonne (8/5): Too distant and disconnected for me. - The place is remote and nestled within what appears to be a residential area. Without maps, it would be difficult to find. There was no one at the office upon arrival. No instructions were provided on what to do to check in. I had to ask a neighbor to contact the number on the door. We waited for someone to show up.
Wifi was weak.
Room was clean and tidy.
- Martin (4/5): Dissatisfied Customer - The Bathroom was nice, very well put together for the size of the space. I didn't like that the site stated breakfast was available but the cafe wasn't opened until after 9. I had a spill and the wet spot on the sheet was automatically stained indicating a dirty mattress. A mattress cover isn't that expensive. I really didn't like being charged XCD$6.00 for a small bottle of water and XCD$12.00 for 1 cup of black coffee, no cream, no sugar. Then at check out as I'm about to leave a "walk through" is done to "make sure it is the way I received it" wow. What was I gonna steal the paintings off the wall? The room was bare minimum necessary to be comfortable. The oweer and staff were pleasant but the facility can use a few minor touches. All in all, I liked the facility, however, not being able to heat or cook some food was most disappointing of it all.
- Shamila (1/5): Not recommended - My partner and I booked this accommodation for 4 nights. On arrival, we were disappointed to find there was no water. We were advised by the owner of the hotel that the government occasionally turn the water off. We decided to persevere with this and stayed the night, only to find the electricity had cut off. This left us with no AC and no means to charge electronic devices such as mobile phones. We raised the concern with the owner who simply said “its better you leave if you aren’t happy”. This was really disappointing as the room itself was lovely. We were asked to pay for 1 night accommodation which my partner and I didn’t feel was appropriate as we paid for basic amenities that were not provided. If there is a regular issue with electricity and water, this should be clearly stated so people are aware. Luckily alternative accommodation was found, which provided hot water and electricity (also 3 star accommodation) - I have raised the issue with booking.com as I feel the advertisement of this accommodation is misleading.
- Rory (3/5): Poor -
- Anonymous (5/5): its alright didnt care for fancy its livable but the cook threw me off when thought i was lying about the ants and never - it had a tropical look nice view of the water. unless you dont mind being close to the stingray place thats fine, I seen ants informed ime its because of the rain np. Then I seen them in my bed I wasnt gonna say anything but the cook made it seem like i was lying i never asked for a refund then i showed him the video he told me he seen stuff at hotels before but didnt complain i told him thats fine but not in your bed, he wanted to argue with me. Hotel is faraway like 30 mins from saint john so have a car, then on my last day there was no running water. The only reason im saying this cause yhe cook made it seem im lying.
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jovin (2/5): - Nothing
- 111 (1/5): Bad -
- Pamela (9/5): Sharon and the wonderful chef were very helpful and welcoming. - The location was in a quiet residential area. The home cooked food was excellent and Sharon opened the kitchen that was supposed to be closed for 4 hungry travellers. The Chef cooked us a great home cooked dinner and we were so grateful. It was very clean, had a working air conditioner if we had needed it and a quiet fridge which was great. They allow pets, which is rare. The pillows were a bit lumpy but whatever. It was farther from the airport than we expected.
- Colin (6/5): - Booking in on arrival was slow. We were not expected despite notifying them of our arrival time. Demand was made for payment even though we had paid one month before when booking. No apology when they discovered our payment. All-day breakfast turned out to be just sausage and egg even though we had ordered mushrooms and baked beans as well..! The worst breakfast we have encountered on our holiday so far - sloppy and broken eggs. No restaurant service available in the evening. Poor water pressure in the shower. Dirty windows. Nowhere to hang wet towels and swimming costumes.
Woken up during the night by the noise of the water-pump situated behind our room.
Nicely lit terrace area in the evenings.
Overall we would NOT recommend this property.
- Paul (10/5): Comfortable Hideaway - Very Comfortable room, Peaceful location and very friendly staff! David I’m the kitchen is a chilled, cool guy.
I would recommend a car, very close to sting ray city with a peaceful nights sleep
- SABAH (6/5): - It should be 2 star Hotel (not 3 star)
- Jessyca (3/5): My Worste Experience Ever - Not much except that it was located in a tranquil area.
A young man was there to check us in when we arrived around 2am When we arrived, atthere was no electricity and water on the property.
I asked the young man for the key for the room so he called the lady and she said that they key was not on property and since we are only staying one night we don’t need it. I thought she was crazy so that encounter gave me a red flag as to who and what I was dealing with.
The electricity came back around 5:30 am or thereabouts and I was awaken by the sound of the air condition unit outside my window. The bed is positioned adjacent to the air condition unit. Madness
I decided to take a shower so I allowed the water to run for a bit but it wasn’t getting hot so I asked the lady if she has hot water in the room. Her response to me was that, “sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t”. I looked at her with concern and she responded by asking me if I understood what she said. I said I heard you but I am trying to understand what you are really telling me because at that point I knew she was not been honest.
I ran the water for a little while longer but it never got warm, it was cold as ice.
The property is poorly equipped for hosting guests even for one night.
I believe Booking.com ought to remove it from its website, this place should not be recommended until a generator is in place and basic facilities are installed.
Whilst there I overheard another guest who was accompanied by a lady complaining about the Wi-Fi password and the gentleman expressed to me that he was checking out this afternoon. He was not pleased with the accommodation provided.
Kindly remove this place from your website forthwith before someone sue Booking.com for recommending such a sub-standard facility that is located at the end of the farthest point in Antigua offering very little security to the guests
- Isabella (8/5): Very good -
- Zori (8/5): Very good - We loved the location, our room, the privacy and the views. Breakfast we ordered off menu was amazing. It was definitely a get away experience. We didn't like the "breakfast included" part of our stay. "Breakfast included" consisted of only bagels, crackers, tea and cream cheese. Very disappointing. We ended up ordering breakfast off menu for our 2 days there. Would have been great to get a heads up about what "breakfast included" meant beforehand.
- Joy-marie (3/5): Poor - The view of the sea The night lock wasn't working. The main was not working properly. There were no batteries in the TV remote
- George (4/5): Disappointing -
- Charmaine (10/5): Very accommodating. I booked for - N/a N/a
- Aleksandra (4/5): Disappointing -
